No.24
Luka appears and tells Serena that she can't call him. He doesn't want to be with her, but she doesn't believe that. Nevertheless, Luka again repeats he can't be with her right now and leaves.
Hospital
Karl enters Izzy's room and she gratefully leaps up, asking what the escape plan is. He goes into "doctor mode" and suggests that Izzy see a psychiatrist after Dr Carter has said that Izzy's pains could be more psychosomatic, than physical.
IZZY: So she thinks I'm psycho?
She's convinced that it'll be more stress than she can handle right now, but Karl believes that it will alleviate the stress.
Coffee Shop
Lou and Lyn have a chat about Joe and the farm, though Lyn seems a bit uncomfortable about it. They are soon preoccupied, hearing Svetlanka's laugh ring from the kitchen as she and Harold walk out. She again thanks him for the great dinner they had and suggests they soon do it, again. "Maybe this time, we could be more adventurous. And go a little further..." Harold brightly suggests if they want to go further, then they should go visit a nice little French restaurant in Eden Hills. Not fazed at all, Svetlanka remarks that it's "all delicious to her" and he should book early because they'll "want to entertain themselves some time after dinner."
Lou and Lyn stifle their laughter and he walks up to Harold when he's alone, ribbing him about not understanding Svetlanka's real meaning behind their date. Harold shushes him, knowing exactly what Svetlanka's plans for them but he is just embarrassed. He admits to Lou that he's not as young as he used to be..."it's been a long time between...lemonades if you know what I mean." Lou shrugs this little problem off, informing Harold of an easy medial fix that can get the "the old effervesce" again and soon, he'll be able to have "all the lemonade he wants."
Hospital
Karl quickly hangs up the phone when Izzy walks out of the psychiatrist's room. He says was only in there for 5 minutes and she did Dr Monroe a proper go. Izzy is reluctant to talk to "that antique" but Karl asks if she's scared of facing her fears. Ignoring him, Izzy states "there's no way I'm talking to someone who India Jones is still trying to unearth" and huffs off.
Coffee Shop
Lil goes to order a carrot juice, just as Luka orders one from Harold. "Snap!" Harold muses that it must be a Serbian thing, and they are both surprised to learn they are Serbian. Still unable to connect the dots, Harold introduces them and Lil says she is Svetlanka's daughter and they met a few years ago in Perth...if he remember and he does. They talk about Serena and Lil plays the embarrassing mother and lets him in on the fact that Serena hasn't stopped talking about him. She hopes that they'll be hearing more of him.
Coffee Shop
In the kitchen, Karl admits he should have realised that Dr Monroe was probably not the best person for Izzy. But, he still believes that this will be good for her and suggests that she see this new doctor whom he has heard great things about. He agrees that if it doesn't work out, he'll back off. Finally, Izzy agrees and Karl informs her of free appointment tonight.
Just as Karl is about to leave, Harold quickly asks him if he'll be able to fit him for an appointment. It's a 'small thing, no big deal'.
Country
Max and Steph walk hand in hand through the country side. Steph thinks this is meant to be a celebration, but Max is worried that she's the one making all the sacrifices about their relationship by not having a baby. She doesn't care, she just wants to be with him. Steph admits he may being a bit over protective the baby issue and simply states that he's not a risk taker, but that's okay. Though he notes did take a risk by giving her a chance to be free... she finishes that something good came did come out of it.
They stop and Max suddenly suggests that they have baby. "Let's have a crack at it hey?" He means IVF, regardless of all the risks.
STEPH: Are you sure?
MAX: Absolutely.
No.24
Lil hints that she met Luka at the Coffee Shop, however Serena doesn't seem to care, despite her mother approving! She says he's an idiot and made it pretty clear that he doesn't want to see her again. Lil thinks he seemed smitten and Serena agrees, but then he went all weird. "Whatever way you look at it mum, he dumped me."
Lassiter's
Svetlanka gives Luka a plane ticket (business class!) to go back to Perth. Luka looks surprised, saying he can't go back when he hasn't found his answers. Svetlanka says she spoke to the nurse who delivered him and she confirmed that his parents are his natural ones. Luka wants to speak to her himself, but unfortunately she informs him she's gone overseas.
SVETLANKA: Don't you trust me?
For the last time, she wants him to go home as he's searching for things that don't exist...like his birth certificate he wonders? She still says there was probably a mistake with their system.
LUKA: The only mistake that no one has told me the truth for 18 years.
Still, Svetlanka says it's time for him to go home.
Coffee Shop
Once in a corner, Harold discreetly tells Karl, without going into too much detail the worry he is having about his date with Svetlanka and how it has become much more, 'intimate'. He says that on the performance level...well, his stamina isn't what it used to be.
HAROLD: She's Serbian you see, God help me! So passionate...
He says Lou said there were things he could prescribe and while there is, Karl says that there are risks like a stroke. "It only comes up...I mean, the opportunity only comes up." And with that, Karl understands and promises to take care of it. Izzy soon comes out and they both leave for her appointment at the Hospital.
No.24
With cake, Lil happily tells her mother she finally met Luka at the Coffee Shop and "he is such a nice boy!" She invited him over for dinner, but Svetlanka quickly says that he's going back to Perth tomorrow so that's unfortunate. Lil is disappointed, knowing that it would make Serena happy and she may just have to do some match making. Svetlanka forcefully informs her that "Luka's not what he seems" and is definitely "not the sort of boy you want in Serena's life."
Hospital
The psychiatrist and Izzy get off to an awkward start, but he soon starts questioning her the things that she told him, like the abandonment of her parents at an early age. She says she doesn't really feel anything, then or now...she's got over it. He continues to probe her, asking if she thought her parents didn't like her and maybe that's why they left? She's got not idea and supposes they couldn't have thought too much if they left her alone. "Do you think they thought you were a bad person, is that why they left?"
She says she doesn't care, even if they did think that, but he doesn't believe her. Izzy still thinks it's no big deal that her parents left her.
PSYCHIATRIST: From what you've told me, you show signs of manipulative behaviour. Why do you think that is?
IZZY: Why don't you tell me?
PSYCHIATRIST: Is it because you're afraid that you'll never get what you want?
IZZY: I have what I want, I have a man who loves me.
PSYCHIATRIST: Tell me about it. How did that relationship come about?
IZZY: Do you want me to explain to you the birds and the bees. How do you think that it came about?
PSYCHIATRIST: Did you have to manipulate things with your partner, to get what you want? Are you afraid of losing your partner, in the same way you lost your parents?
No.24
Lil moans to David that she was looking forward for Serena having a boyfriend that she would actually like. David asks about what her mother said, but Lil dismisses it, thinking they should take anything Svetlanka says with a grain of salt. Soon Serena walks in, mysteriously more chirpy than before. Harold then comes out, adjusting his tie and they note he looks dressed up. He's going out on another dinner with Svetlanka and David and Lil exchange worried looks. Harold pops into the kitchen and discreetly takes out, 'Function Rite' and is about to take one before he is interrupted by Serena (looking for a snack), so he quickly hides the box in the cupboard. Svetlanka then arrives and before leaving, grabs a similar box from the shelf. As soon as they're gone, Serena hands Lil and David 'Function Rite' box Harold forgot to take.
SERENA: What's 'Function Rite'?
LIL: 'Function Rite'...?
ALL THREE: Ohhh!
And with disgust, throw the box onto the couch.
Hospital
Izzy apologies for crying but the psychiatrist hardly thinks it's a sign of weakness. They can't start the healing until the wounds have been uncovered. He gently asks why she thinks, she is so wound up.
IZZY: I think I'm upset because, I've done things in the past that are unforgivable.
PSYCHIATRIST: For me, the most important phrase here is 'in the past'. Either continue to keep running from the mistakes in your the past. Or, you own those mistakes and learn from them. The point is, your past mistakes don't have to rule your future. The choice is yours.
Izzy looks fairly determined at this advice.
Pub
Lyn gives Steph a huge hug, congratulating them on the wonderful news. Steph thinks they have a long way to go, but Lyn has the upmost confidence that her 'little girl' will see it through with flying colours. Max hopes people understand that they're gonna need our space... and Lyn sort of looks at him with daggers. Steph goes to get some drinks to celebrate and Lyn somewhat snidely asks if it's okay with Max to say, or will he be needing some space. Max smiles and pulls up a chair for her.
Hospital
Karl is extremely happy and proud of Izzy for having gone through with the doctor and Izzy says she feels much, much better. She thinks it's gonna be really good for her - and for them too. She realised a lot of things about herself - fears and anxieties but now realises that the past doesn't matter, it's now that counts.
IZZY: Karl I love you so much. And I have just been, ahh, you have stuck by me, I promise that you that the future is going to be so right between us.
