- Jack persuading Lyn that Mac is different, and may be 'the one'
- Libby informing Izzy that 12-week babies are uniform in size
Karl's Office
Greeting one another, Karl informs Izzy about an available appointment with Dr. Eleanor Gray - one of the best obstetricians in the field. In a slightly overreacting manner, Izzy tells him that she is perfectly fine with Dr. Chandler and doesn't want to have to worry about changing everything around... Karl apologises for getting her into a tizzy but only wanted the best for her. With that, he pulls out a beautiful bouquet of flowers, giving them to her because she is beautiful and having their baby.
Coffee Shop
Steph apologises to Valda after she showed her the brochure for the "Empson Country Estate" citing that it's just a bit too much for the wedding. Valda understands...but only wanted to help give Lyn something to work and look forward too. Lyn's problems that she's had to deal with, like her PND, Steph's cancer and now Joe's absence has made the wedding preparations that much more worthwhile. Not realising how much it would mean to Lyn, Steph hesitantly agrees much to Valda's delight.
The doors then open and Lyn walks in and joins the two. Lyn tells Steph that she has just seen a Catholic priest, so that he can give Max some Catholic lessons. It's not the entire conversion, but just things such as how to raise your children in the faith, and how to be a good Catholic husband. Before getting into any more wedding talk, Lyn suddenly spots Mac sitting on her lonesome. Lyn whispers to the two women about her identity before heading over to have a little chat. Once over, she introduces herself as Jack's mum and is greeted with a blank look from Olivia.
Hoylands'
Declan is reading a magazine article about the first Harry Potter movie and how great it was because of the Quidditch games, when Summer sneaks up behind with a pair of scissors in her hand. Before she can snip off a piece of his hair, he whips around and she makes an excuse about how his hair was in a cowlick. Concerned about her strange behaviour, he hastily makes a quick exit. She explains to Boyd that she's trying to get a lock of his hair so she can make a spell that he'll dump her.
BOYD: Why do you want to dump him so bad?
SUMMER: He's thirteen.
BOYD: So are you.
SUMMER: I have the mind of a fifteen year old.
BOYD: Right and a fifteen year old would really cast a spell.
SUMMER: You don't mind when Alyssa Milano does it.
BOYD: Yeah but she's hot. You're just insane.
Coffee Shop
Lyn spills her concerns about Jack's late nights and how it is affecting his job performance in their family business. Olivia understands, but why is she telling her, after all it really has nothing to do with her. She isn't leading Jack astray and he is in charge of his own decisions. After Olivia excuses herself, Lyn huffs over to her table and exclaims the cheek of that girl. She doesn't understand what Jack sees, as she's so damn rude.
LYN: If he had a nice girlfriend like Nina, he'd be home in bed every night where he ought to be.
Even though she has a mother like Trixie, she'd take a Trixie and Nina rather than that "piece of work". Valda hopes that Jack won't be bringing her to the wedding but Steph exclaims that he may as well, seeing as everyone else is. She quickly rectifies her outburst by reassuring Lyn that she is positively happy with the arrangements.
The Pub
Lou is in panic mode for the Best Pub competition, as Connor reassures him that serving the rival pub's beer and then theirs will work in their favour. Finding Valda, he quizzes her about the garnishes on her stew telling her parsley is too plain.
VALDA: Alright I'll open a tin of leprechauns and put them on top.
Before anything else can be changed, Max greets the newly arrived Gladys O'Grady. Connor welcomes her, though upon hearing his accent she hopes that it's not another Irish theme pub - seeing as the last one she went to was one. By magic, Valda and Lou serve Gladys the stew and imposter's beer. She warns that the pub around the corner had a very good beer, as she takes a sip. It's quite nice...although tastes quite similar to the Shamrock Bitter. Connor then slips her a glass of O'Neill's, their other traditional family recipe beer and grins in excitement when she tells them that it's very, very nice.
Scullys' Driveway
Jack hands Lyn the $1000 in cash, as repayment for the missing equipment. She is shocked at the amount of money and asks where he got it...did he get the money from Mac? Jack is silent and then Lyn tells him that she doesn't like her, telling him about their chat today. He is furious that she integrated his girlfriend, she is not her mother and can't tell her to curb the partying. Without saying anything else, Lyn looks directly at Jack and asks if he's taking drugs.
LYN: Are you on drugs? You've gotta tell me son. Are you taking drugs?
Scullys' Driveway
Jack denies Lyn's drug allegations, even though it might seem as if he has been acting weird lately. Spilling his heart, he admits he has felt the pressure of working full time on the family business and feels obligated to support the family. He knows if Joe were here, he would only be working part time and doing uni, but he hasn't even had time for that. He goes out clubbing and so frequently to unwind and to just have fun away from his responsibilities.
JACK: I just feel like it's all been lumped on me and I can't breathe or something. I go out there to have fun. Do you remember what it was like?
The Pub
Max, Connor, Lou and Valda are all gathered round a much rather...full-filled and somewhat tipsy Gladys O'Grady as they wait in anticipation of her results. She says she can't say anything just yet, though when Connor offers to drive her home instead of taking a cab she admits that yes, Lou's Place has won the best pub, and they have also won the best beer. The four hug one another as they celebrate their victory with some O'Neill's.
Obstetrician
Observing the images from the ultra sound, Dr. Chandler tells Izzy that all things are looking well and judging from the screen, she is probably about 12 weeks pregnant. Izzy inquires the sex of the baby, though the obstetrician tells her it's too early to determine. When Izzy laments about Karl's absence, Dr Chandler informs her that she'll be able to take some photos and a video so he won't miss any of the action.
Karl and Izzy's flat
Looking at the ultra sound of her baby, Izzy sadly glances down at the photographs and tearfully tears one up. Upon hearing Karl at the door, she quickly throws away the tape into the trash.
Once entering, Izzy exclaims about the amount of take away food he's brought home - though she is eating for two now. Noticing her tears, Izzy fakes a sad television show she was watching. He apologises for missing the obstetrician appointment today, but is looking forward to the next one.
Coffee Shop
Declan asks Summer when she started to drink macchiatos and once he leaves to get her some more milk, she slyly slips some of her potion into his chocolate milkshake.
The Pub
Stu and Jack are playing darts as they once again quiz each other about the movement of their love lives. Jack still thinks Stu should make a move on his boss, after he admits that she does look like Lara Croft - but all he can do is fantasise. He asks about Jack's mystery girl.
STU: Anyway when am I going to meet your girl of the minute?
JACK: Hey, it has been longer than a minute thanks.
STU: Careful, you don't want to go breaking the new Jack Scully record.
Jack explains that she was going to come out tonight, but had other things on. Stu interprets this as her playing the field but Jack is defiant that she's not!
Meanwhile, Lou and Valda are playing coy around one another as they fight about who should go get some more O'Neill's as they've run out. Connor a witness to their banter, hands Lou some advice.
CONNOR: Lou this is stupid.
LOU: What are you talking about, today has been a professional triumph!
CONNOR: No I'm not talking about the pub. I'm talking about you and Valda. I mean you're perfect for each other. Just do everyone a favour and ask her out or something would ya?
LOU: It'd be a disaster.
CONNOR: You keep acting like a couple of nervous school children around each other. Okay, explain that?
Karl and Izzy's flat
Karl greets Izzy in the morning with a hug around her waist which quickly moves towards her stomach as he feels it. She turns around and shushes him, as she already feels really fat. He plays it off by saying it means she's just a natural mother, but Izzy speculates that she shouldn't be this big. She blames it on a lack of exercise and eating too much...nevertheless, Karl asks when her next obstetrician appointment is. She doesn't answer him, but merely states he thinks she's getting fat! He immediately apologises and didn't mean it like that, comforting her in a hug, as Izzy looks concerned.
Coffee Shop
Summer inquisitively asks Declan if he has anything to say to her, and Declan replies that he would like to ask her if she'd want to partner him on a school project so they can spend some time together. Summer is left puzzled when he leaves and tells Boyd she'll just have to do it herself.
Jack and Steph then walk in, Jack complaining about the damage control he had to give to Mac about Lyn's words. Steph has the same problem, with Valda and Lyn completely taking over the wedding so it's sure to be a disaster.
STEPH: Yes well, the ground will open up when four vintages cars arrive to pick me up, dressed as a cream puff, to drive me exactly 100 metres away to my wedding. Watched on by hundreds of people that I haven't even see...well since my last wedding and we all know how great that day was don't we?
In a flash, Lyn turns up behind and Steph tells her it about how great her wedding will be after Lyn's planning. Before leaving, she tells Lyn that Jack wants to talk to her and parts with a, "Just say no Jack" spiel.
Erinsborough High
Summer is saying how it really is, with her relationship with Declan. She breaks up with him with several cliched lines and poor Declan has no clue. "It's not you. It's me, really." "We're not at the same stage." "I hope we can still be friends." After she leaves, he has a fallen hurt look. Boyd enters and carefully asks if Summer broke up with him but comforts him with saying that "There's plenty other women out there."
Street Somewhere
Stu is trying to catch some speeding cars, but is frustrated when they slow right down upon seeing them. Olivia tells him to just use this time to relax and it doesn't always have to be about catching some bad guys. He asks about her night and if she spent it with her boyfriend - she brushes it off, as the guy really isn't her boyfriend as they've only seen each other a handful of times and that they really don't have that much in common. She feels that it's not really too serious and that when you meet someone, sometimes you just know and Stu agrees.
Izzy and Karl's flat
Karl picks up the ultra sound videotape, and asks Izzy if there's anything wrong with it as he found it in the bin and they are running low on tapes. Izzy tries to stop him, by telling him that she'll just go and buy him some new tapes, but Karl has already put the tape in the player and pressed 'play'.
