Number 30
Michelle confronts Connor over Lori's comments about his intentions when Lori was first pregnant. Connor denies that he had planned marriage but admits that he offered support and a family environment. Connor re-assures Michelle that he is committed to her but Michelle still wonders out loud what might have been if Lori hadn't returned to New Zealand.
The Pub
Max is struggling with his back and Gus walks in offering help. He sends the grumpy Max home to rest, taking over his duties at the pub. Max comments that his condition is getting worse, not better.
Coffee Shop
Valda and Karl discuss Michelle and New York over coffee. Valda doesn't let Karl get a word in and he becomes distracted when Gus enters with flowers and a kiss for Izzy. Valda thinks Michelle is wrong to give up everything for Connor whilst Karl claims that they are 'in love'. Gus gives Karl a sly grin as he leaves. Karl then plays the dissatisfied customer with Izzy, sending back a cold cup of coffee. She offers a replacement which he pompusly accepts. As Izzy leaves the table, Valda is amused with the exchange given "what Izzy said to Susan." Karl presses her for information.
Number 32
Steph prepares the couch for the sick Max, playing nurse maid. Gus walks in and plays the supportive friend. Steph tells Max about the program with Roberta Marley going around schools talking about her cancer experience. Max is very proud and supportive. She then says that it is a three week country tour and with Max sick, there is no way she can go. Max is in further pain and Steph demands that they call Karl.
Coffee Shop
"Snap her fingers and I'll come running. She actually said that?" asks Karl, incredulously of Valda. Karl is annoyed that people think him a lovesick teenager. He gives Izzy dagger eyes when she delivers his replacement cup of coffee and continues to glare at her as his mobile phone rings. He leaves the table to talk and Izzy asks "What did I say?", to which Valda gives a little laugh. Karl abruptly leaves "for just a patient" and makes a point of ignoring the clearly put out Izzy.
Number 26
Lyn and Michelle discuss Connor in the kitchen, Michelle moaning about Lori's return. Lyn tries to calm her and talk some sense about the way others are feeling. Michelle is worried that she doesn't fit in as everything has changed. Much to the dismay of Valda, Lyn advises Michelle to "hang in there".
Number 32
Karl examines Max, giving him a "few weeks to be 100%". Steph says that there is no way she can go on the tour but Max, Karl and Gus all say that people can step in and help. Steph is relieved when Gus says that he will step in and look after Max whilst she's gone.
Number 26
Valda and Michelle talk about the Connor situation and Valda tells her that she admires her strength and loyalty. Valda reminds her that she still hast the option of the scholarship, giving her a cheque to cover the rest of her course. "Don't give up on your dreams!"
Number 32
Gus is on the phone asking his father for $40,000 but hangs up abruptly when Steph comes out of a bedroom. Gus covers but Steph gives him and the phone a funny look.
Number 30
Lori and Connor talk whilst baby Maddy becomes restless. Connor asks questions about parenting and the support she received in New Zealand from her parents. Lori tells him that she plans to stay in Erinsborough indefinitely. Maddy cries but stops when Connor nurses her (well for a second she stopped! ) Connor introduces himself to her "Hello. I'm your daddy!"
Number 30 - after commercial break
Lori, Connor and Maddy are playing when Michelle walks in. Lori leaves the room to change Maddy's nappy. Michelle and Connor talk and Connor guesses that Michelle is going back to New York. Michelle admits that she is but thanks him for "showing me what love was like." They hug as both are clearly upset.
Number 26
Michelle tells Lyn and Valda of her plans but Lyn doesn't want her to leave straight away. Michelle goes to pack as her plans are arranged but Lyn confronts Valda about the cheque and her "shove" to Michelle back to New York. The confrontation ends in tears as both women emotionally give their opinions on what is best for Michelle. "God knows when I'll see her again!" cries Lyn as she walks out of the room.
Number 32 next morning
Steph is on the phone with Libby talking about the goings on and Steph mentions Karl. Libby presses her for information and Steph fills her in on the Gus/Karl confrontation at the engagement party. Karl knocks at the door with a pillow for Max and when he hears that it is Libby on the phone, he asks for a word. But Libby, overhearing, says "Steph! No!" and hangs up. Steph tries to cover, but quickly giving a fake ending to the conversation but Karl is not convinced.
Number 26
Michelle says her goodbyes to Steph, Jack, Valda, Oscar and Lyn. As she is leaving Connor, Lori and Maddy come to the door also to say goodbye. After Michelle has walked out, Connor, now holding Maddy, tries to make a little joke to Valda and Lyn "becoming a bit of a habit, isn't it?" Both Valda and Lyn walk past him, totally ignoring him.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl is in the elevator lobby and gets into a lift, quickly followed by a dashing Izzy. The atmosphere is tense.
IZZY: "Do you have a problem with me?"
KARL: "Not especially."
IZZY: "Why then the attitude?"
KARL: "There is no attitude, I'm just late for work."
IZZY: "And you were running late at the coffee shop yesterday too?"
IZZY: "I'm running late too for my first aid course, but I'm resisting the temptation to act like a five year old!"
KARL: "First aid, eh? You never stop giving do you?"
Izzy glares at him: "What?"
Karl shrugs: "Nothing. Just thinking out loud."
Izzy angrily: "I think I'll take the stairs."
KARL: "Be my guest."
Izzy presses the button and the lift shuts down, plunging them into darkness.
KARL: "We're stuck!"
Izzy repeats angrily: "Stuck!"
