Stu at the police open day.
Max offering Connor the co-manager job.

Susan walks out in the morning to find Karl fast asleep on the couch, empty wine bottle next to him on the coffee table. She angrily throws the bottle in the bin and storms back to the bedroom. Karl wakes up with a start and knows he's in the wrong.
Connor sees the application for the police force and asks Stu if he's joining. Stu's not too sure because he's needs references and doesn't think he'll get one off Lou because he was so rude to him. Yeah well the cops might like that. They might see it as, 'Stuart is forceful and knows his own mind' says Connor. Stu looks at him, Stuart is easily swayed and has lost his mind. He decides he'll just have to beg Lou for it. Connor tells Stuart about how he had to turn down the job at the pub because of his immigration woes.
Erin and her gang snigger at Sky as she walks past with Boyd. She comes up to them when they're talking and sniffs Sky, Ew, what's that smell? It totally reeks! Oh, wait a minute, it's eau de toilet. Erin and her gang walk off, laughing. Boyd says to ignore them but Sky is hankering for some revenge. Summer has seen the whole incident.
Susan is quietly eating breakfast while Karl slinks into the kitchen after getting dressed. He starts to say that he must have fallen asleep in front of the telly, but Susan cuts him off with a sharp don't Karl. She tells him she's booked another counseling session. He begins to protest but backs down when he sees how hurt and angry she is.
Max is annoyed with Lou over the whole pub-selling debacle. Lou says he was going to tell him about the Hello Dolly tour, and reassures him that he's not selling the pub or borrowing against it. Max says Lou still won't be around for a while, and Lou promises to help him find someone. Max tells him not to bother, he's already got Connor on board. What! Why wasn't I told? Max smirks at him, Annoying, isn't it!
Susan sees Izzy walking through the corridors. She's brought Summer's lunch she forgot at home. They have a frosty conversation. Izzy asks Susan why Mal wouldn't consider Max's offer to buy the house from him, and Susan says that Mal's a business man and knows what he's doing. Izzy says it just doesn't seem very neighbourly of him. Well Isabelle, I guess we all don't have your neighbourly qualities, do we, Susan replies smoothly before walking off.
Susan and the counselor are waiting on Karl who's late. Susan gets edgy and apologises, saying that maybe they should re-schedule. The counselor offers to have a session with just Susan when Karl bursts in, saying he got held up with a patient. Susan cracks and asks him why her needs are always last. She wants to know why he openly rejects her and would rather spend the night on the couch, drunk, than come to bed with his wife. Karl looks uncomfortable.
Susan says she's sick of being the only one who wants to save their marriage. She thinks that Karl's there physically, but mentally he's off somewhere else. Karl starts to protest but then backs down and says Susan's right.
KARL: I feel suffocated, with you, he says sadly. And I don't want to feel that way, but I do. And with the drinking, when I'm not with you I don't want to drink, but when I'm with you again... It's like I'm two different people... I want to fight it, make sense of it, but I can't. Susan, I... I am hating this. If I could snap my fingers and make it go away I would, but I don't know how. I don't know how.
Karl sounds defeated by this stage, while Susan is stunned and on the verge of tears.
Connor shows Stu a postcard he got from Carmella asking him to stay true to her and wait for her because she's doing that for him. Connor wonders how he's supposed to do that when he can't even stay in the country. Stu asks why they just can't drink booze and play pool all day. He gets his keys and heads off to face the Lou Carpenter firing squad.
Stu's pleading his case to Lou and says that he deserves a second chance. Lou doesn't see it that way since Stu told him to lump his job, and when it all blew up in his face he came crawling back. Lou says he'll give him a reference saying he worked for him and that's all.
Erin and her giggling gang are still sniggering at Sky. Boyd says Sky has to get her back. Sky says she's going to, she just doesn't know how yet.
The Kennedys are sitting in stunned silence. The counsellor prompts Susan to talk.
SUSAN: You stood beside me after the accident when I couldn't even remember who you were. And you fought to make me remember. You said! You said you couldn't live without me!
KARL: I know.
SUSAN: Well... what's changed? It couldn't have happened overnight?
KARL: Not overnight, no.
SUSAN: Well then, when?
KARL: I don't know.
SUSAN: How did we go from love, to a renewal of vows, of lifetime vows, to a year later being like this?
KARL: I don't know. Look, this isn't something I planned, it just happened. And not just to you or to me, but to us.
SUSAN: Was it something I did?
SUSAN: Was it something I didn't do?
SUSAN: Well then when did things change?
KARL: There was no one defining moment.
SUSAN: You must know your own feelings!
KARL: I can't... I don't know.
SUSAN: Well if you don't then who does? How can we possibly look at what's wrong if you can't or won't?
KARL: I just don't love you anymore...
Susan looks like she's been slapped in the face. Karl's nearly crying.
KARL: I'm sorry, but I don't... [he whispers] I don't love you.... I'm sorry.
Susan has sobs caught in her chest and Karl is breaking down.
Stu sits down with Steph for a chat. He sees her mobile and asks if she's got Lib's number. Stu wonders why he didn't think to get a reference off her before than humiliate himself with Lou. He tells her he's applying to be a cop as Izzy brings his food over. Steph laughs and Izzy says it's a great idea. Steph just didn't see Stu as the cop type, and says she has issues with the police anyway because of her past. Yeah, that's cause you always dated criminals. Thanks Stu. (Steph has long hair all of a sudden in this scene).
Boyd and Sky sneak over to Erin's school bag when there's no one around. Sky laughs as she finds Erin's make-up bag, Barbie owns less pink stuff than this! She opens the lunch box she was carrying and Boyd lifts a white mouse out of there and puts it into Erin's bag. They put the bag back on top of the locker and run off, laughing.
Max is at the computer. Connor comes in and says to Max that he can't take the job because it wouldn't be fair on Max to train him up, only for him to leave in a month. He wishes he could take it thought because he loves it there, and loves where he lives. Max asks Connor if he knows about sponsorship, and Connor says it's when an employer sponsors you to say that you're not freeloading. Max has been looking at a website on it and says he wants to sponsor Connor. Connor's thrilled.
Sky and Boyd are waiting for Erin. Summer comes over and wonders what they're doing. They tell her to watch, but their plan backfires as Erin doesn't even open her schoolbag, she just gets a smaller bag out of her locker and walks off. Sky and Boyd can't believe it. Summer laughs when they tell her what was supposed to happen, Where'd you get that dumb idea, the Olsen twins? Summer gives her expert advice on pranks. Sky loves Summer's knowledge and says they must be in the presence of the master.
Steph is talking to Max about Stu's new career choice. She doesn't think it's a good idea for him take up and tells Max all about her police paranoia's. She doesn't feel safe around them and thinks they have too much power. Max says that Stu can make up his own mind and Steph says she'll try and keep her mouth shut about it. Connor gets off the phone to his mum, looks and Steph and hugs her. I love your boyfriend! Steph laughs, That's great! As long as you know he's mine! He tells Steph the good news and Steph's excited for him. Connor goes up to Max and says he's the most kindest and generous man on the earth, and then picks him up in a big bear hug.
Izzy gets out of her car and sees the Kennedy's pull up in their driveway. Karl gets out first and looks at Izzy. Susan sees who Karl is looking at and if looks could kill, Izzy would be shovelling coals in the pits of hell right about now...
