Recap
- Valda arriving for the christening
- Edwina and Jack in the car
- Lyn stealing the rattle
The Church
Valda asks Lou if he's been missing her, and he says, "More than you know." But he covers it up with some story about how Valda can get cheap meat from the butcher when no one else can. She lets him know that Harold told her Lou was living in the pub. She says the house must have been too big and lonely for him, and he says that it's better he's not rattling around in it.
Joe asks Susan if she's seen Lyn, because they want to take some family photos. Susan says that Lyn went to get some more champagne, but she's been gone for awhile now. He says thanks, and dials his mobile.
Shopping Centre car park and The Church
Lyn gets into her car and rummages in her handbag for her mobile. She stops in shock when she sees the rattle, and holds it up to look at it.
Joe mutters, "Come on Lynny, answer the phone."
Lyn answers the phone distractedly, and is still staring at the rattle. Joe asks if she's okay, and if she got the champers. She says that she has to go to another bottle shop, and Joe says for her to meet everyone back at home.
Lyn hangs up and quickly shoves the rattle back in her bag.
Outside the Scullys
Taj, Nina and Jack are unloading presents from the car. Jack says that now all the boring baby stuff is out of the way, he can have an alright time. Taj points to the road and says they've got another guest. Edwina pulls up in her snazzy convertible, and Jack starts to freak out saying that they should get inside. Edwina stands up and says hi. Jack asks what she's doing there, and she says she came to say hello. Nina looks unimpressed.
Number 30
Toadie's lying on the couch watching a movie. Connor comes in with snacks for them, but wants to go and poke around in the neighbours hard rubbish collections. He says he can sell some stuff on the net. Toadie tells him that's Carpenter talk. Connor tries to convince Toadie it's a great idea, and says he can have first dibs on the Kennedy stuff. Toadie looks thoughtful, "Well, the Kennedys do have excellent hard rubbish." They run off to scavenge.
The Scullys
People are gathered in the lounge room, and Joe & Valda are starting to wonder whether they should go and look for Lyn, when she comes in apologising. She makes up a story that she ran into an old friend Meredith Bruce - and she only got one bottle of champagne after all that. Lyn goes over to Lou, who's holding Oscar, and gushes over him saying that she'd love a nurse now. Susan looks a bit concerned. Joe says they'll need more than one bottle of champagne. Lyn says she's been such a scatterbrain lately, and Joe tells them the story of how the other night Harvey got steak for tea and Joe got dog food. Joe goes to her handbag to get some money out, but Lyn rushes over and takes it off him. Valda says it's her shout, but someone else can get it because it's family photo time. Lyn goes to get the others, and Susan looks on, worried.
The Scully Kitchen
Taj and Edwina are talking about soccer, while Nina and Jack are at the sink sniping about Edwina being there. Edwina tries to talk to Jack about soccer too, but he won't say much. Joe comes in and tells Jack they need him for the photos, much to Jack's annoyance. Joe tells Taj (but he hilariously pronounces it 'Tash'!) he can be the photographer.
Nina offers Edwina a drink. Edwina comments on Nina's ring, saying that it's "sweet" when Nina tells her it's from Jack. Nina gets gruff and asks Edwina what she's playing at, and that Jack's not interested in her. Edwina tells Nina that Jack is her friend, "I'm not here to steal your boyfriend. If you've got trust issues with him, then that's your problem."
The Scully Lounge Room
Valda (holding Oscar), Lyn and Joe are posed on the couch waiting for Jack (and presumably Steph, but they don't say?!). Taj starts clicking away. "Not yet Tash!" Joe grunts. Jack's in the bathroom, so Valda says to start without him. Taj takes some more happy snaps with Lyn fake smiling, and Joe getting caught making odd faces. "That'll do... Tash, that'll do!" Valda asks Joe where Lou went to, and he tells her he's gone back to the pub.
The Scully Kitchen
Susan is doing some dishes, and Lyn's rushing around getting a bottle for a crying Oscar. Susan asks how the breastfeeding is going, and Lyn says it isn't because she's too sore. Lyn gets flustered and wonders why a 46-year-old like her is taking this on like she's 20 again. Susan is sympathetic, but Lyn rushes off and asks her to bring the bottle to her in the nursery when it's ready. Susan looks more concerned.
Number 30
Connor and Toadie bustle in with all their goodies, including the ski's Karl put out the other night. Connor says that they can make up stories behind all the junk, while Toadie pretends he's skiing down a mountain. Connor smiles and gets something out of the boxes they were carrying. It's 'Prisoner - The Board Game', and he reckons that they'll get hundreds for it on E-Bay. "Trust me, to the Brits these things are gold!"
The Scully Kitchen
Taj is trying to chat up Edwina, complimenting her on her soccer skills the other day. Edwina is only half listening, but also focused on Jack and Nina in the other room. She tells Taj she'll be back in a tick, and runs off to talk to Jack, passing Nina on the way. Joe bumps into Nina, and says he wants to get a photo of her and Oscar. Edwina asks Jack if they can go and talk somewhere private, but Jack says no. Edwina threatens to tell Nina about the other night, so Jack gives in and they go outside. Nina sees them but she's trapped by Joe still waffling on about something.
Outside the Scullys
Edwina and Jack go outside under the premise of taking out the empty champagne bottles. Jack says that the stalking isn't a good thing, but Edwina says that she didn't know that they had something on, and she only threatened to tell Nina because he's been ignoring her all afternoon. Valda walks down the driveway, saying she's just popping out for awhile. They wait until she leaves, and Jack asks Edwina what she expected from him. He's got a girlfriend, and he thought there was no strings attached. "I was just hoping you'd treat me like a human being, instead of a piece of dirt." Jack says he didn't promise anything, and Edwina replies that even a one-night stand deserves a bit of respect. She goes inside to get her bag.
The Scully Kitchen
Nina and Taj are at the table talking about how Oscar threw up on Susan. Edwina storms in upset to grab her bag, and says goodbye. Taj runs out after her, and Nina asks Jack what's going on. Taj stops Edwina at the door, and she has a clear view of Nina and Jack in the background. Taj says it was nice to see her, which she seems genuinely pleased at, and wants to know if they could hook up again some time. She gets a bit aggro and asks what Jack said to him. Taj is confused, and says he just wanted to see her again. Edwina smiles and says for him to give her a call sometime. Jack watches her go, looking guilty.
Number 30
The board game has already reached $250, much to the boys delight. Toadie's amused that some bloke has bid $19.50 for a stubbie holder. Connor informs him that people will buy anything if there's a story attached to it. Toadie wonders what his toothbrush would go for, and Connor excitedly wonders the same about his boxer shorts. "Dude, that's a story nobody needs to hear." "Dude, we could do it!" Toadie agrees, and says they'll see who gets the most bids. They high-five and Connor goes to unbuckle his pants. "No! Leave 'em on!" Toadie yelps.
The Pub
Valda tries to talk to Lou about loneliness, but he keeps saying that he doesn't know what she's on about. He tells Valda that he only said he was lonely to Harold to get him off his back. Valda asks if Lou never craves a bit of human companionship, but Lou says he's too busy to worry about that. He asks how she's going with 'companionship' up in Western Australia. "You know me, life and soul of the party." "That's what I thought," replies Lou a little glumly. (The music that blends this scene to the next contains the lyrics, "All I want is you...")
The Scully Kitchen
Nina and Jack are doing dishes, and Nina apologises for freaking out before. Jack says it's okay, and she has nothing to worry about. Nina lets him know that Taj is bound to 'make the moves' on Edwina anyway, he was so obvious about it. Jack looks worried.
Number 30
Toadie pokes Connor with a ski pole, gloating that his toothbrush is up to $5. Connor says that his boxers will do a roaring trade by tomorrow, and goes to get them a beer. Toadie looks at some of the stuff on E-Bay for sale, including; a two-storey dog kennel, genuine glass poodles... and one wedding dress, never used. Connor overhears that last bit, and Toadie looks sad. "She would have loved this you know. We would have been here for days." Toadie thanks Connor for today, because it was good for him to have a laugh.
The Scullys
Lyn's in the darkness of the kitchen looking at the rattle. Joe clicks the light on and startles her. He asks what she's doing, and spots the rattle thinking it's another christening present. Lyn says that she bought it the other day. Joe sees the price tag and isn't too shocked, but gently says that they could have put the money elsewhere. He knows that she wants to spoil Oscar but that sort of money could go to his education. Joe gives her a kiss on the head, and Lyn looks a bit agitated.
Erinsborough High
Jack and Nina are kissing in the hallway, and Susan jokingly tells them to set an example. She says to Jack that she enjoyed yesterday, and asks how Lyn is. Jack says she's okay, but a bit embarrassed that Oscar threw up on her. She laughs and says it's fine, and tells Jack to tell Lyn she's there if she ever needs her. Susan goes and Taj walks up, boasting he was on the phone with Edwina last night for 2 hours. Nina's happy for him and scurries off to her math class. Jack asks Taj if he thinks it's a good idea hooking up with Edwina. Taj says she's hot, single, and he's pretty sure she likes him. Why wouldn't he?
Shopping Centre
Lyn pushes the stroller purposefully towards the store that she stole from. She fumbles around the clothes until the shop assistants are busy, then puts the rattle back in its place. She leaves.
The Scullys
Joe's having a barney on the phone with one of his workmates. Lyn gets back and puts Oscar in his bassinet. Joe asks if she gave him his rattle yet, and she says that she just took it back. Lyn says that he was right, and she can use the money on something more sensible. Joe feels bad and says it's okay if she wants to splash out on Ozzy every now and then, "Whatever makes you happy." He goes off to work leaving Lyn a bit distressed.
