Joe and Michelle talk about her having no contact with Elly.
Lou and Darcy discuss going into investment together.
Karl sets a patient up to watch a video 'Coping With Diabetes', warning her it's a bit 'jazzy' to cater for teenagers. Darcy rushes in asking for the video-machine and is told it's in use. Darcy checks what she's supposed to be watching and points out the diabetes video's on Karl's desk. Mrs Clarke storms in, very annoyed because she's been watching 'filth'-'The Doctor Is Waiting'. Darcy looks guilty/amused. Karl glares.
Tad's waiting for Flick and Michelle and as they leave, Joe forbids Michelle to meet Elly for a week. Lyn tries to persuade him he's being a bit harsh and when Pat tells him he shouldn't take his bad mood out on the kids, Joe replies pointedly that that's right. Pat says he's obviously not wanted and will go.
Karl and Darcy have just watched some of the video. Karl thinks it's disgusting, but Darcy insists it's quite tame-but not for Mrs Clarke, a pillar of the church. They argue when Karl sees Darcy's name as Associate Producer on the cover.
Darcy's sitting enjoying reading the cover of 'The Doctor Is Waiting' and watching the girls go by when Lou comes and asks how their investment's going. Darcy's evasive at first then confesses-they're worth $60. Just as they start to argue, Rosie arrives and Lou makes the introductions. She's interested in the video and asks 'what the doctor's waiting for'. There's much confusion for Lou and Darcy as she decides she might like to watch it. She seems to twig something's up and walks off smiling as they slump back down in their chairs.
Pat's leaving despite Lyn's pleas. At her insistence, Joe grudgingly apologises, but after she goes out he and his father swap cutting remarks. Joe's especially bitter at Pat's neglect of his family in the past, but his father says he wants to get to know his grandchildren and daughters-in-law and 'make it up to Joe and Mick, especially Joe.'
Lou's checking something on the computer and getting angry at what Darcy's done with their investment just as Rosie arrives looking for a bottle of wine and they have a friendly chat.
Inside the pub, Pat and Joe have come for a drink as they can't talk properly in front of the family. Pat's saying things were tough, but Joe describes him as mostly absent and beating them up when he was home. Pat tries to recall 'good times', but Joe can't remember.
Joe's sitting in the taxi, upset, with some memories coming back, when he sees Michelle and Elly walking home together from a walk with Harvey. Michelle's teasing Elly about Tad, but Elly's insisting she's just interested in work-experience at the surgery and moving in with Darcy. When Joe confronts them, they quote Children's Rights to him until Karl joins them and the adults start an argument about who leads who astray.
Pat has finally persuaded Lyn to accept money for his board when Joe and Michelle come in arguing about Elly. Pat backs Joe up when Michelle appeals to him and Harvey disapproves.
Karl's trying to tell Elly off, saying to her exactly what he denied to Joe, but she's mainly trying to persuade him to 'do a deal' and let her do work-experience at the surgery. He just won't agree.
Darcy's at his desk when he has some sort of attack. Elly arrives to visit him and calls an ambulance. He's not breathing but she follows instructions given over the phone and resuscitates him using mouth-to-mouth.
Karl praises her actions very highly and insists she goes to the coffee shop to wait with Susan as a support while he goes with Darcy to hospital.
Flick arrives home and announces that she got a job as a trainee concierge - she's a bit embarrassed that it's not a big deal, but they tell her it's just a start.
Pat and Joe are talking more freely and Joe apologises for not apologising sooner about the purse. They start to reminisce about Joe's mother and the atmosphere warms up as they laugh together.
Outside the surgery
Elly meets Tad as she leaves and says she saved Darcy's life. He tells her she lives in a fantasy world and to quit the flirting. When she asks him why, he says it's fake, she's just a kid and it's all talk, that if he tried something, she'd run for the hills. She replies 'Do you think so? and kisses him thoroughly.
