Recap
Dee tells Lyn to give her a completely new hairstyle.
Darcy begs Karl to give him his job back at the surgery.
Number 28
Darcy tells Karl, that short of getting on his knees and begging there's not much more that he can do. Karl agrees that he's a good partner, and Darcy tells him he won't let him down.
Lou's Place
Toadie and Joel are enjoying a beer whilst watching barman Matt try to juggle cocktail mixers. Matt keeps dropping them, but claims that he could do it at home. Dee arrives with a much new shorter hair style and the guys compliment her, before Matt mentions he's going to enter the barmaid competition. Joel asks if he'd like to join him on his trip up the coast the next day to meet Vernon Wells. Dee declines the offer, but Joel manages to persuade Toadie into coming, telling them all that by making the effort to go and visit Vernon, he will have to take him out on one of his diving trips.
Coffee Shop
Harold tells Lyn to have her coffee on the house, as Drew arrives to see her spinning a coin. He tells her with a spin like that she could be on the cricket team, but she kindly declines. He asks Harold if he knows of anyone, and Harold suggests that he talks to Lou. Drew asks Lyn is she's sure, and wonders what the chances will be of Joe wanting to stand for captain. She tells him that if Karl is standing then Joe probably will as well. Harold opens a letter from the council wanting to know about the history of Ramsay Street.
Lou's Place
Toadie, Joel and Dee are teasing Matt about the barmaid competition telling him he'll have to get his legs waxed. Karl arrives and wonders what they are talking about before Drew suddenly appears, quickly complimenting Dee on her hair, before asking the lads if they're up for the cricket season. They all agree, including Karl who tells them he'll be happy to be captain. Drew warns him that there may be a democratically decision. They tease him about last year's season, as Darcy arrives. They invite him to join the team, but he announces that he may not be around long enough. Karl leaves.
Number 24
Harold is enthusiastically showing Karl some plans of the area from many years before the street even existed. Karl finally gets his attention and asks if he's been putting rubbish in his bin. Harold admits that he did after Paul's party as they had so much, but tells Karl he won't do it again. On leaving, Karl asks how he's supposed to trust someone who's already let him down before. Harold tells him that it's hard, but forgiveness is the key to happiness.
A Random Dock
Joel, Toadie and Matt find Vernon Well's boats in amongst the many docks. Joel tells them to wait on the jetty as he jumps onto the ship and rings its doorbell! Vernon Wells appears from the top of the boat, and Joel tries to explain that he's not stealing the boat, but is a fan of his work.
On the roof of the boat, Joel tells Mr Wells that he sent him his CV last week and has brought a copy of his thesis with him - Coastal and thermal turbulence, and its relation of fish stocks. Vernon tells him that it's a well researched area at the moment, but Joel pleads with him telling him he'll do anything to get on board one of his research teams. Vernon tells him he's got a trip coming up soon, and he can start by washing down the boat.
On the lower deck of the boat, Toadie and Matt are having a nosey around. Toadie grabs the fishing rod and throws out a line. Matt suggests he pulls it in before Vernon sees, but it would appear Toadie has caught something.
Coffee Shop
Drew asks Darcy if he's sure he won't join them on the cricket team, but Darcy tells him he'll only be around for the first few matches plus he's got to tidy up his belongings at the surgery. Dee pops in and gives him an old photo of them together, telling him she's got no use for it. He comments on her hair and she leaves.
Vernon Wells' Boat
On the lower deck Toadie has managed to get the fishing rod totally caught in the water. Up on the upper deck, Joel finishes cleaning the boat, and Vernon asks if he's had any experience with diving on wrecks. Joel tells him of one dive that he went on; Vernon mentions it's the same one he took his grandson too. He asks Joel if he doesn't give him the job, whether he'll spend his life on the beach, but Joel tells him he'll probably spend it pestering him to give him a job.
Lou's Place
Lyn points out to Karl that with Darcy gone he won't be able to enjoy such long lunch breaks. Karl admits it's true, as Dee walks in. She tells him she plans to inflict damage on her credit card by going on a shopping spree, as she has finally got over Darcy. Karl points out that's it's very mature of her.
DEE: No, not maturity - it's sanity!
Karl comments that he'll keep the anger for both of them, but Dee tells him that the moment she let go of her anger for Darcy, was the moment she felt good about herself again.
Vernon Wells' Boat
Matt and Toadie realise that the only way to put the fishing rod back is to cut it. Up above, Joel is impressing Vernon with the facts that he knows about the dive. Vernon tells him the reason for the dive is to recover a tea set that belonged to a Duchess. They come down and Matt and Toadie are on the jetty again. Vernon tells Joel that he'll call him, and asks them to cast him off - he's going fishing!
Number 28
Darcy pops over with some of the patients files, informing Karl of the afternoon's events at the surgery. Karl asks him why he's so desperate to stay on, and Darcy tells him he's tired of running. Karl admits that he's a good doctor, who saved his life. Darcy tells him he wants to go on saving lives and help improve others, including his own, by staying put. Karl gives him one final chance. Darcy thanks him.
Coffee Shop
Lyn tells Drew that Steph is keen to join the cricket team. Darcy wanders in and tells Drew to add his name to the list too; he's staying. Darcy tells then about the new cosmetic route that the surgery is going to be taking, and Lyn wonders if she's just received a free consultation. Harold wanders out from the kitchen, looking dazed. He tells them the council are going to be renaming all the streets in the area.
Lou's Place
Joel, Toadie and Matt tell Dee about Vernon's boat. Realising that they knew about the fish stocks, Joel asks how much snooping they did, and whether they broke anything. Joel's phone rings and it's Vernon, who offers him the job, but also asks about the fishing rod. Toadie and Matt deny all and Dee points out that Joel is going to need a deep sea dive certificate, which he doesn't have. Joel realises that he's landed himself in a bit of trouble.
TOADIE: Mate, I'd say your in the same position as the Philip E'Clair; Sunk
