Joel talks to Dee about Bernie
Toadie tells Joel his father was hitting on Dee
Brendan dies.
ERINSBOROUGH HOSPITAL
Karl explains the circumstances surrounding Brendan's death. Tess cries.
NO 28
Karl comes home and tells Susan that Brendan died. He starts to think how it could have been Libby, but Susan tells him not to think like that.
NO 30
Dee comes in shattered and explains to Joel and Toadie how Brendan died. Toadie is conerned for Tess and goes round to see her. Joel says he has to meet Bernie and asks Dee if she'd like to go. When she says no, Joel decides he isn't up to it, but Dee talks him into it.
LOU'S PLACE
Joel and Bernie have a stilted conversation about fathers being proud of their sons. Lou comes over to show off his octopus, until Bernie points out it only has 7 legs. Joel is aumsed, but Lou tries to bluff his way out of it, by saying that he knew that.
ERINSBOROU8GH HOSPITAL
Drew is surprised by Ron's arrival at the hospital. Drew fills him in on Libby'/s condition before he leaves to call Rose to let her know he arrived safely. Tess comes along and Drew tells her that Libby's doing better. She just mutters "that's great" leaving Drew confused.
LOU'S PLACE
Joel tackles Bernie about misleading his mother about the award ceremony. He also asks him what he said to Dee when he arrived. Bernie tells him the facts behind him asking Dee if he could buy her a drink and says that he would never cheat on Joel's mother, but Joel doesn't seem convinced.
NO 30
Joel explains to Toadie and Dee what Bernie said about the award ceremony and asking Dee for a drink and defends him. Dee politely agrees that she must have got the wrong end of the stick, but no-one is really convinced.
RAMSAY STREET
Toadie meets Drew outside No 22 and asks if he knows about Brendan. He says he does and thought about going over to see Tess but he doesn't know what to say. Toadie says he's heading over, and Drew starts to give him a message to give to her but decides to tell her himself.
NO 32
Toadie finds Tess sat on the back seat in a daze. He says he was sorry to hear the news. Tess says everyone will hate him, but he never meant this, he was the best person she knew, he just had this one fault.
ERINSBOROUGH HOSPITAL
Dee tells Karl and Susan Libby's results show that she will be fine. They excitedly hug each other before going into to see Libby. Susan hugs her and Karl punches the air with relief.
THE COFFEE SHOP
Joel talks to Ron Kirk about his own father and suggests they all get together. Drew comes off the phone and tells them that Libby is awake, and he happily tells Harold, and says that she'll recover quickly. As he phones Rose, he thanks his dad for being there for him.
NO 28
Karl and Susan come home and sort through the mail. He discovers a letter from the medical board asking him to appear. Susan notes they haven't told him he's been cleared. Karl says if it was good news they'd have put it in writing.
NO 24
Lou tells Madge and Harold he's been ripped off over the 'Septopi' and they're greatly amused. Lou tells them he gave the salesman an earful "Who does he think he's talking to? I know a scammer when I see one".
RAMSAY ST
Tess is gardening. Toadie comes over with some flowers, She thanks him and says it was a nice thought. He asks if there's anything he can do to help
TESS: it's as if nothing has happened, everyon keeps doing their thing. People keep going to work, kids keep going to school, you keep worrying about your study. The world hasn't changed at all, and I'm supposed to be organising the funeral.
NO 30
Joel is stressing about Bernie being late. Dee is trying to calm him down. Joel feels he's been palmed off - again. He talks about Drew's relationship with his father and obviously feels jealous.
CARPENTER'S MECHANICS
Ron, clutching one of the septopi, offers Drew the chance to come into his business, but Drew feels that he can't move because of Libby. Ron thinks Libby can find work and shares his dream of 'Kirk and Son'
ERINSBOROUGH HOSPITAL
Libby talks to everyone around the bed and asks Karl when she can come home.
KARL: Right now, there's still dishes you left in the sink.
LIBBY (to Drew): Hey Mister, do you still want to marry an old crock like me?
DREW (smiling): I'll have to think about it.
NO 30
Bernie arrives and wants to take Joel out, but Joel says he doesn't have time now. Bernie is in a hurry too and wants to leave. Joel stops him and asks him to sit down. He tells Bernie that he doesn't think things are right between them.
