Coral insists to Tad that it isn't what she meant, but Tad storms out. Toadie says he'll go and have a look for him.
The Coffee Shop
Harold and Madge are still worried about the rat - they are going to put down four traps and then get rid of them before the Health Inspector arrives. Harold has stopped sneezing though, so they are taking that as a good sign.
Harold chats to Phil to keep him out of the kitchen. Phil tells Madge and Harold that he's been called up for jury duty.
Harold tells Phil he has seen some European wasps in the street - he thought he should know because of Lance's allergy.
Bishops
Tad arrives and asks Paul if he wants to hang out. Someone knocks the door. Tad says if it's his mum or Toadie to please cover for him. It's Toadie at the door. Paul covers for him.
Paul asks Tad what's going on. Tad asks Paul if he wants to go somewhere. He says they can jump over the back fence.

Coral and Toadie are really worried about Tad. Toadie says Tad can stay if he wants to - if they ever find him again. There is a knock at the door. It turns out to be Karen.
Toadie tells Karen that her leaving for New Zealand was a bit of a shock. She says she has to because it's her family and she has to go. Toadie says he'll really miss her. He asks when she'll be back. She says maybe a month, maybe longer. She says they have to put things on hold for now.
A river
Paul says he thinks it's a good deal for Tad to hang out with Toadie for a while, and also at least Tad does have a mum. Paul says Tad is pathetic - Paul's mum is dead and his dad walked out on him - Tad should make the most of what he has.
Martins
Lance is throwing away his study notes. Phil suggests they get away for a weekend to make up for the camping trip disaster. He reckons that the women mess things up - every time they go away it's a disaster! Phil suggests a bloke's weekend away.
Phil says he'll put Lance's study notes away in the loft.
Toadie knocks the door looking for Tad, but neither Phil or Lance have seen him.

Paul tells Tad to ring Toadie. Tad doesn't want to though. Tad goes to get a drink. He sees some wine and pours himself a glass. Paul is sees and get very cross.
The Coffee Shop Kitchen
Harold is sneezing again. Eventually they see the rat, but can't get it. Cassandra comes in and tells them that the Health Inspector has arrived!
Bishops
Paul is very angry with Tad. He says his father is an alcoholic. He goes to pour the wine down the sink. Tad calls him a freak and Paul gets madder and they start fighting. Paul tells him to either ring Toadie or to get out.

Tad has rung. Toadie and Coral goes to find him.
Ramsay Street
Karen says she has to go, so they need to say their goodbyes now. Karen doesn't want him to come to the airport. She gives him a photo of them together. Karen says she'll write and tell him what's going on. They hug goodbye.
Coral is hounding Tad across Ramsay Street shouting at him as she goes.

Paul pours the rest of the wine down the sink. Then he goes through the cupboards looking for any more alcohol he can pour away!

The Health Inspector has just left. Luckily she didn't detect the rat.

Madge comes in to find Paul pouring all the wine away.

Coral explains to Tad that he only half-heard the story. Things are hard with her and Tad's dad at the moment, and she'd rather he'd be with Toadie having a good time. She gives Tad the choice of whether to stay or not. She says he could learn a lot from Toadie. Finally Tad agrees it is for the best if he stays with Toadie. He says he'll have to have his own room though. Toadie says he'll have to build it(!). Then Tad says he could bunk in with Sarah(!).
Bishops
Madge is waiting for an explanation. Paul says that alcohol causes nothing but trouble and he doesn't want it in the house. Even Tad wanted to drown his sorrows today. Madge says that was her wine, and also she's a sensible person and drinks in moderation. Paul says she shouldn't be drinking at all. He says she doesn't understand how alcohol wrecks things, like it wrecked his dad. Madge says that getting rid of it from the house isn't the answer - it won't get rid of it from the world. Paul says it's a start. Madge says Paul's mother used to pour alcohol down the sink but it didn't do any good. She says Paul can't control his father's actions. She also says that his father is doing a very good job of staying sober without Paul's help.

Coral is leaving. She tells Toadie to keep him on the straight and narrow and make sure that he eats properly and goes to school. She tells Toadie that she still can't believe they've got a lawyer in the family! She says to call her if he needs any help with Tad. Coral leaves.
Martins
Phil is up a ladder putting Lance's notes in the loft. He decides to do the job properly whilst he's up there and get his fishing gear down for their camping trip. Phil gets into the roof and wonders if the manhole has shrunk! Lance reckons that it's more likely that Phil's changed shape.
Ramsay Street
Paul is playing basketball on his own. Tad comes up. He tells Paul that his mum has gone back home and he's staying. He says he's made it up with his mum. Paul is a bit frosty with him, and Tad apologises for what happened earlier. Paul says it doesn't matter. Tad says he'll be coming to Erinsborough High and asks Paul what it's like. He wants to know if there's any hot chicks! They start playing basketball together.
Martins
Phil is in the loft now with Lance passing up boxes of study notes to him. The phone rings and Lance goes to answer it. While he is doing so, Phil disturbs some stuff and starts getting stung by wasps.
