Recap
Matt and Sarah say they're going to make their long distance relationship work.
Debbie agrees to work at the Coffee Shop again with Madge and Harold.
Claire begs Hannah take the rap for the trouble in the Coffee Shop so she doesn't get sent home.
Madge wants to know who all the food is for. Toadie appears with a pizza and protests his innocence, saying that he's not in charge, he's only doing what Harold asked of him. Madge comments that he's not doing a very good job of it and wants to know whose idea it was to stuff themselves at her expense. Toadie continues to protest his innocence so Madge asks who the pizza is for and Toadie points out that it's definitely not for him, not after he was sick last time he stuffed himself. Madge agrees and accuses Claire. Hananh jumps in, much to the surprise of Toadie and Madge. Madge asks if Hannah's absolutely sure and Hannah says she is. Madge says she'll call Phil and Toadie shakes his head in disbelief at Hannah.
Matt puts the phone down and tells Sarah his sergeant has given him his shifts off from now til he leaves. They kiss and Caitlin and Mandy come in with Ben. Ben says Caitlin asked if Mandy could stay over and Sarah and Matt agree that it's fine, although Matt puts down the disclaimer that they must sleep sometime. Mandy and Caitlin look at him as if he's mad and say that they need to sleep because they've got training tomorrow. Caitlin and Mandy leave and Sarah isn't pleased at them staying.
Phil's shouting at Hannah, saying he doesn't believe it and wants to know if they're sure Toadie had nothing to do with it! Hannah continues to say it was all her and Debbie tells her it was a dumb idea and she hopes Harold and Madge made her pay for the food. Madge says they can forget about it but Phil says they won't! He sends Hannah to her room and says they'll talk later. Phil apologises to Madge and says he doesn't know what to say - it's so unlike Hannah. Madge agrees and tells Phil that she bets London to a brick that Claire's behind it. Debbie asks why Madge doesn't hassle Claire about it but Madge says there's little point, she'll just weasle out of it. Phil's confused by it all and says he doesn't like her pointing the finger at other people when Hannah's confessed; maybe Hannah was behind it all. Madge tells him to go easy on her, at least til they get to the bottom of all of it. Phil agrees to do so but warns that if Hannah is responsible, she's in deep deep trouble.
Caitlin and Mandy are training. The coach tells them they did even better then and they're benefiting from training together. Mandy and Caitlin whinge about how they could've beaten each other. The coach says training isn't competition and they train the way he wants them to. He sends them back off for more laps.
Hannah's moping over her breakfast when Debbie comes in. Debbie asks where Phil is and Hannah says that the hospital rang. Debbie's annoyed that Phil didn't tell her but Hananh says that she was in the shower and that he'd said it was nothing to worry about. Hannah suggests that Helen might be well enough to come home. Debbie asks if anything's bothering Hannah but Hannah goes to storm off. Debbie catches her and makes her sit down. She says she wants Hananh to help her with a problem she's got. She's got a friend who's let her take the blame for something Debbie didn't do and now she's in trouble and doesn't deserve to be. Hannah asks what her point is and Debbie says that she thinks it sucks - doesn't Hannah? Hannah agrees but says that not if you did it for a good reason, say for example, your friend could get into more trouble than you would. Debbie says it still doesn't make it right and asks if Claire was behind what happened last night.
Caitlin and Mandy go to make a huge breakfast and put the radio on. Caitlin breaks the eggs from the fridge and starts laughing when Ben comes in and tells them to keep it down because it's way too early and Matt and Sarah are still in bed. They apologise and Matt and Sarah traipse through. Ben apologises and Matt asks if they realisd what time it is. Caitlin says they were up for training and they were starving. Sarah suggests that they should've stopped off for breakfast on the way home and Matt says maybe they could still do that. Ben tells them to get ready and he'll take thme out for breakfast. Sarah tells Ben to take them shopping afterwards and Mandy mentions there's lots of shops she wants to look at. Sarah mutters that she should look at all of them and take as long as she likes. Ben apologises and clears up the egg spillage. He says he's glad Caitlin's here but he's also glad she's leaving at the end of the week as he doesn't think he can take much more!
Madge and Harold are getting ready to leave for work when Debbie calls over. Madge offers a lift to Debbie but Debbie declines saying that she popped over to warn them she'll be late into work as Phil's gone to the hospital and she thought she ought to wait with Hannah. Madge tells her to take the day off if she needs to, they can manage without her. Debbie says it'll be ok but she'll let them know if she'll be too late. She asks if she can chat to Claire and Madge calls her and the pair leave. Claire comes through and Debbie asks if Claire knows how much trouble Hannah's in because of her. Claire chirpily denies all knowledge but Debbie says that she does think it has something to do with Claire. Debbie says that she thought Claire and Hannah were good friends and good friends looked out for each other. She tells her that as far as she can see, Hannah's been a good friend to Claire. Debbie tells her not to act innocent with her and Claire tells her that Madge will send her home. Debbie tells her she's selfish, letting Hannah take the blame for something Claire did just so Claire doesn't have to go home. Claire triumphantly tells her that Hannah doesn't want her to go either but Debbie tells her that it doesn't make it right. Claire protests that Hannah wanted to do it and Debbie tells her that she didn't. She explains that Hannah did it because Claire talked her into it and because she thought Claire was her friend. Claire says that she is Hannah's friend. Debbie tells Claire that she's lucky to have Hannah because if Deb was Hannah, she wouldn't want anymore to do with Claire.
Ben's watching the girls stuff themselves and Harold's pleased to see his food being appreciated. He tells Madge that he bets Ben is sorry for shouting them for the meal! He suggests they give him a discount but Madge tells him with Debbie back, they want everything running above board and like clockwork. Madge warns they mustn't push their ideas onto Debbie and whatever she says, they do.
Phil returns and Debbie comes through. He's surprised to see her - he thought she'd be at work. She asks why he didn't tell her and he said that she was in the shower and he mutters that he didn't want to make a big fuss in front of Hannah. Hannah walks in and asks how Helen is. Phil says she's not too good and asks them to sit down. He tells them that Helen had another heart attack overnight and she's in intensive care - the doctors think she'll be there for a while. Debbie asked if Phil could talk to her but he says that she was sleeping and hurridly adds that she looked comfortable. Hannah asks when they can see her and Phil says they'll probably go tonight but visiting is now restricted to immediate family and he has to ring first. Hannah says she thought Phil was bringing her home. Phil apologises and says it'll be a while before that happens. Hannah's upset and says that it's not fair, Helen's been in hospital for ages - what's wrong with them in there? Phil tells her that Karl says Dr Chambers is an excellent cardiologist and Phil's sure he knows what he's doing. Hannah protests that he's not doing anything - she wanted Helen better and home in time for next week as it's Helen's birthday. Phil says that she might be but Hannah runs off. Phil puts his head down and Debbie asks if Helen'll be well enough to come home soon. Phil tells her he doesn't think so. He explains that Helen wasn't asleep when he was there before, she was awake but he thinks she had no idea who he was. Debbie looks upset and asks what they can do. Phil says he'll have to ring Rosemary but apart from that, he doesn't know - just wait and pray. They both look sombre.
Debbie goes into the Coffee Shop and Harold asks how Helen is. Debbie says she's ok and Harold's pleased and asks if Debbie's ready to 'captain their ship'. Debbie says she wouldn't put it quite like that but Harold says that he would - he and Madge want her to oversee everything. He starts telling her what they're up to and Madge comes in and asks how Helen is - she rang the hospital a few minutes ago and they told her that Helen wasn't available to talk. Debbie looks really upset and explains that she's in intensive care - it's her heart again and she's not allowed any visitors. Madge comforts her as Debbie sniffs back the tears and Harold says that if she'd rather be at home but Debbie says she'd rather be busy - her in the kitchen and Harold and Madge out front.
Harold reports back to Debbie, who seems disinterested and Madge says that they're both worried about her. She says they want her to understand she's in charge. Debbie thanks her and Madge asks how she wants the rolls. Debbie tells Madge to decide and Harold and Madge collide, spilling stuff all over the floor. Debbie tells them to stop - they're being extra nice because of Gran and she appreciates it all but she wants them to relax as they both know how the place is run. She looks distracted as she continues work.
Claire says she'll take the blame and says that Hannah seems unhappy - she hopes she's not responsible. Hannah says she isn't and they go to tell Phil. He says he hopes they aren't getting into any more mischief. Hannah says Claire wants to tell him something. Claire confesses and Phil asks why she let Hannah confess if Hannah wasn't to blame. Claire tells him that Madge threatened to send her home. Phil asks if she really thought it was that serious. Claire tells him it definitely was. She begs him not to tell Madge and Harold because she doesn't want to go home. Phil says he won't tell them but he thinks it leaves Hannah in a tricky position. Claire asks why - he knows the truth. Phil says that he does but Madge and Harold don't and they wont' think much of Hannah until they do know the truth. Claire's dismayed that she's got to confess to Madge and Harold too but Phil tells her it's not for him to decide but Claire has to make her mind up about what's more important - staying in Erinsborough or doing the right thing by a friend? Claire looks dismayed.
Things are running more smoothly at the Coffee Shop and Claire comes in. Madge asks if she's feeling guilty and Claire asks for a private conversation with both Madge and Harold. Debbie goes into the front and in the kitchen, Claire confesses. Harold looks disappointed and Madge asks why it's taken her so long to come forward and confess. Claire said she only came forward because she didn't want them thinking badly of Hannah - she's her best friend in Erinsborough. Madge says her loyalty to Hannah is admirable, even if it's a bit late. Claire says she only got Hannah to lie because Madge threatened to send her home. Madge said that Hannah's proved she's a real friend to Claire. Claire says that doesn't matter, they're going to send her away now anyway. Madge said that normally she would but seeing as she's shown her loyalty to Hannah, she's not going to send her home but things will be different. Claire says she'll be well behaved. Madge says she'd better be as she'll be watching her like a hawk and if she puts one more foot out of line she'll go back home. Madge tells her to go away as they've got work to do and Harold still looks decidedly unimpressed. They go through to the front and Debbie asks Madge if it was a confession. Madge says it was - and she's pleased to find out Claire's capable of one!
Matt and Sarah are messing in the kitchen when the phone goes. Matt warns Sarah that if she touches the bags, she'll lose a finger. Sarah rifles through them anyway and finds a ring. She puts it back and moves away from the bags as Matt comes back in. He says Ben's on his way home and he's planning on giving them some space. Matt says it's exactly what they need and promises that tonight is going to be special. They kiss and as Matt pulls away, Sarah looks rather unhappy.
