Recap
- Lou telling Phil he'll find a car for Susan.
- Libby telling Darren it is all over.
- Ruth and Phil bickering over their respective kids' attitude to them having a relationship.
Pub
Darren is still in a mood despite Marlene telling him to cheer up. When he tells her it is over between himself and Libby, he's surprised to find no gloating is forthcoming. Marlene tells him that her words won't make any difference and tells him to sort out his bad behaviour instead of feeling sorry for himself and moody. Darren denies this but she tells him to go and talk to Libby.
At the bar, Lou is in a celebratory mood, he's found a car for Susan and will make a tidy profit on the side too. Marlene has a dig at him for making a profit instead of helping a friend.
The Coffee Shop
Phil arrives to have a word with Debbie. He isn't happy about her talking to Lance about him and Ruth but Debbie flatly denies she said anything to Lance. Phil is relieved and explains that Lance is using her as an excuse to him and Ruth getting together. He also confirms to Debbie that he had a fight with Ruth about it and is beginning to wonder if a relationship is worth it.
Pub
Lou tells Karl he has found a car for Susan for $5k if he is still interested. Karl replies that he is and Lou says he'll take a look at the car tomorrow and get back to him.
No. 26
Helen get off the phone from talking to Ruth, and tells Phil she is puzzled why she has to go over to No. 32 for the physio instead of Ruth coming over and wants him to explain. Phil says that Ruth thinks that Debbie is causing trouble for them again. Helen is mystified as to why she thinks that and he replies Lance, before telling her what else Lance said - that anything between Phil and Ruth would end in disaster - and adding that Debbie knew nothing at all of it.
The Coffee Shop
Mal comes in to order a pizza and it is a bit strained between him and Cath, so they chat about his trip instead and she seems a bit surprised when he says he is leaving next week. Mal then decides he'll come back later for his pizza but before he leaves, Cath stops him so they can talk but he knocks back the invitation.
No. 32
Helen gets straight to the point with Ruth, and wants to know exactly what Lance said. Ruth starts to tell her and Helen finishes it off and both have the same conclusion - that Debbie did talk to Lance, which at least proves to Ruth that Lance wasn't lying. Helen then asks Ruth not to blame Phil and Ruth wonders why Debbie doesn't want any relationship to work out. She explains that to Debbie, Phil is the most important person in her life and isn't relishing someone coming along and disrupting that. Ruth says she wouldn't do that, which Helen totally agrees with but isn't sure Debbie knows that. Ruth wants to go and talk to Phil but Helen asks her to wait, there is a young lady she needs to talk to first.
No. 28
Darren has decided to take Marlene's advice and talk to Libby but she isn't keen on listening to him and refuses to let him into the house, despite him explaining that he didn't set out to hurt her. He adds that she is the only one for her but Libby's heard enough and tells him to leave her alone.
Outside (next day)
Lou is examining the car he's found for Susan extremely closely. He offers the guy $2,500, saying it has been involved in an accident and reluctantly the guy accepts.
No. 30
Cath is surprised when she answers the door to find Darren on her doorstep. Both reveal that their respective Kennedy partners aren't talking to them, so Darren invites her round to sort things out since he is babysitting, which she agrees to reluctantly.
No. 28
Lib tells Mal about Darren coming round last night and he hopes Darren isn't sucking her in. She explains that she is having trouble staying angry at Darren and Mal urges her to forget about him. Libby asks how he is going with Cath and Mal explains that he almost weakened at TCS but quickly got out adding that he knows things can't get back to the way they were before so why try. He also adds that she has to deal with Darren in her own way.
No. 30
Sarah suggests to Cath that tonight they have a take away and video but Cath knocks her back and explains she is going round to Darren's for supper. Sarah is not at all impressed but Cath explains she has some things to sort out with him too before she can try and sort things out with Mal. "You are being incredibly naïve," says Sarah before adding that going over to see Darren is asking for trouble. Cath replies that her life can't get any worse than it is if she does go to talk to him.
No. 26
Helen turns down the offer of a cuppa from Debbie in favour of a lie down since she didn't get much sleep last night. Phil asks Debbie if she is fine and she replies yes as far as she knows before confessing that she did talk to Lance. Phil isn't exactly happy at the reasoning Debbie uses and tells her not to stick her nose in where it isn't wanted.
No. 22 Garage
Lou finishes off the car he bought for Susan anticipating a tidy profit...that is until Karl drives up in a car Mal found that he has just bought!
No. 32
Phil comes round to apologise to Ruth for not believing her. Ruth accepts the apology and the flowers he took round, saying she'd do the same thing - it's called being a parent. Phil also apologises for the other things he said too and Ruth likewise apologises for what she said but it still doesn't solve the problem of Debbie's problem. Phil thinks she'll get over it since Debbie knew she did the wrong thing and Ruth asks if he minds if she talked to her since she is the one Debbie doesn't like.
No. 22
Cath arrives and is surprised to see the table set up for a dinner date, which wasn't the point of her coming round but accepts his explanation and Darren asks what she'd like to drink.
No. 22
Helen is surprised to see Phil arrive home with Ruth and they both head through to the kitchen to allow Ruth to talk to Debbie. Both apologise and Ruth suggests they call a truce but Debbie is miffed as she was just speaking her mind and sarcastically adds that she is obviously not meant to do that. Ruth explains that she doesn't want to come between her and her dad nor take him away from her and Debbie responds that she's seen her dad hurt enough and thinks he'll be devastated if things don't work out. "Sometimes love's about taking risks," replies Ruth and adds that she won't do anything to hurt Phil and Debbie's parting shot is "I hope not." Debbie then concedes to let them give it a go.
Pub
The Kennedys are having a night out at the pub and when they give their drinks order to Marlene, she asks Karl if he can have a word with Lou in the office, so while he heads there, Libby and Mal head to the pool table. Lib tells her brother that she's come to a decision - she can't get Darren out of her head and is going to have another go at their relationship and decides to strike while the iron is hot and go see Darren now!
In the office, Lou moans to Karl about him being out of pocket for buying a car that is now no longer required. Karl explains that he didn't tell Lou to buy a car, only look one out and isn't amused when Lou tries to say they had a formal agreement before telling him that it is not his problem.
No. 22
Darren brings through the drinks (champers) and Cath reminds him that they will only be friends but their conversation is interrupted by a knock at the door. Darren goes to answer it and finds it is Libby. She apologises for being rude to him on the doorstep the previous night before adding that she misses him and wants to give their relationship another go. Darren is stunned before saying "great" but not in a joyful manner and asks if they can talk about this at another time. Libby is now highly suspicious and moves past him into the house and is not impressed at all to see Cath sitting on the sofa and despite Cath saying it isn't what it looks like, she tells Darren that he's made a fool of her again and before she departs, tells him that he makes her sick.
