Ren is reading philosophical literature to Lolly! There's a knock on the front door and Annalise bursts in and tells Ren that Sam told her that he loves her - and has ever since the day they met! Ren asks her how she feels. Annalise murmurs she's barely out of her wedding dress; it's too soon to be in love with someone else. Ren asks her what she did when Sam told her. Annalise replies that she just bolted - it was such a shock. Ren points out that if it was anybody else, Annalise would have set them straight; why did she run away? Helen hands Cody a letter from her university - and she adds that *she* has a letter from Debbie. Philip is staring intently at another letter and Helen asks what it is. Philip tells her that it's the coroner's report. Helen asks:
HELEN: Is everything all right?
PHILIP: Yeah, yeah, the case is closed; it was an accident. 'No further enquiries should be deemed necessary.'
Helen comments that at last the matter's been finally closed; they can try and get on with their lives. There's a knock on the front door and Helen comments that it'll be Molly. Cody goes to answer it and finds that it's actually Rick. She heads outside with him and he tries to hug her, but she exclaims that he stinks! She tells him to go round the back and she'll meet him there.

Mal walks in and asks Marlene if Bianca's home. Marlene comments coolly that she knows what young fellas like Mal are like: there's a lot more to Bianca than meets the eye, so he mustn't force himself on her. Mal insists that he and Bianca like each other, so it's no big deal. Marlene tells him that Bianca isn't home. Mal asks her to tell Bianca that he came by.

Rick is muttering to himself that there's nothing wrong with the way he smells! Cody joins him, a clothes peg on her nose! Rick mutters at her that it's so humiliating: Crowley's going out of his way to teach him a lesson and he doesn't know if he can stand it - all his old friends are laughing at him and the pay's only just better than welfare. Cody runs over to the hosepipe suddenly and turns it on, pointing it at Rick!
Lassiter's Complex
Bianca and Sam are walking through the Complex, Sam asking Bianca if she's still thinking about going back to school. Bianca replies that she might do a nightschool course in landscape gardening. They spot Annalise standing, arms folded, staring into space and they reluctantly walk over to her. Annalise says a muted, "Hi," to Sam. He tells her that they were just planting trees. Annalise just replies distantly that she's got to get back to the Coffee Shop. She walks off, leaving Sam to mutter at Bianca that he was such a jerk.

Mal is telling Ren excitedly that they could try a radio promotion or a jingle. Ren smiles that it's good to see him getting so enthusiastic about Amnesty. Mal asks what exactly they do. Ren comments with a smile that he's getting all excited about promoting them and he doesn't have the faintest idea! Mal tells her that he hasn't run competitively since they moved; he's looking forward to it. He then asks her if she thinks *Bianca's* into Amnesty. Ren grins that he's got the hots for her! Mal mutters that it doesn't matter; she and Sam seem pretty tight. Ren, however, assures him that Sam's only got eyes for one woman round there, and it's not Bianca!

Bianca is sitting at the kitchen table with Marlene, who asks her how long she's going to be working for Sam, adding that it's not much of a career. Bianca remarks coolly that this is the second conversation she's had about careers today. There's a knock at the front door and Bianca goes and opens it to Mal, who looks happy to see her. He invites her for pizzas, video and him at his house tonight! Bianca doesn't look overly interested, but gives in. Mal heads off again, leaving Marlene to point out to Bianca that she could have refused.
Hungry Bite
Cody heads into the Coffee Shop and orders a burger and chips from Annalise. She adds that she and Rick are going to see Dag Central - band friends of Rick's. She then asks Annalise if she's met Philip's new girlfriend yet. Annalise exclaims:
ANNALISE: What? He's got a new girlfriend *already*?
CODY: Ah, well, maybe not his girlfriend *yet*, but she's having dinner over at their place tonight. Don't know what it is, but she reminds me a bit of Julie.
ANNALISE (shudders): That's creepy. No wonder he's attracted to her.
CODY: Yeah. Must be his type of girl.
ANNALISE: Still, he can't pretend he's not still grieving for Julie. I mean, you can't jump from one relationship like that to another.
CODY: Oh... life goes on. Trust me - I'm a doctor. Well, nearly!

In the lounge room, Molly is telling Philip and Helen about how she uses rabbit droppings to feed her worms. Philip grins:
PHILIP: Who'd have thought manure would be so enjoyable?!
He goes to the kitchen to refill Molly's wine glass, leaving Helen to tell Molly that he's never seen Philip so enthusiastic about his worms! Molly asks if Hannah isn't there tonight and Helen tells her that she's out with some neighbours; they've gone to a musical. She then asks Molly if *she* has any children, but Molly replies that she's never been married and never had kids; it's either been men or her, but she's never met the man who she could do all that with. She adds that she hasn't really been looking too hard lately, but sometimes when you stop looking for something, you look up and there it is: you've found it. Philip comes back in at that moment and hands her a drink.

Mal is doing press- ups when there's a knock on the front door. He opens it to Bianca, who asks why he looks like he's just run a marathon. Mal tells her that he just ran from his room. Bianca looks around and asks where everyone is. Mal replies:
MAL: That's the surprise: mum, dad, Billy and Lib... they're all out, all night: dinner and a show - so it's just you, me and...
He shakes a plastic video box.

Marlene serves dinner for Annalise and sighs that she worries about Sam, living in the back of that shop. Annalise points out that he's a big boy. Marlene tells her that she thinks Sam has carried a torch for her for a long time. Annalise nods mutedly that he told her. Marlene exclaims:
MARLENE: He *did*? *Now*? After everything that's happened?
ANNALISE: I know! Talk about stuffing up someone's life!
MARLENE: He told you that too?
ANNALISE (blankly): Told me what?
MARLENE: Oh, well, I mean, he's got enough trouble without all of a sudden being told you're going to be a father.
ANNALISE (exclaims): What? A father?
MARLENE (guiltily): Oh crumbs...
Annalise asks who she is. Marlene tells her that Sam hasn't got her pregnant, but that's not what *she's* saying; her name is Squirrel, or something like that, and she claims... She changes tack and insists that Sam isn't guilty; he's just making it harder for himself by trying to *help* the silly girl.

Cody arrives home and tells Philip that the band was a shocker. Philip tells her that she's just in time for coffee and one of Molly's sticky buns, but Cody says she might go to bed. Helen takes a bun and then listens as Philip tells Molly that she's been trying to get that book for her about Prince Charles and the Highgrove project. Molly enthuses that Highgrove embraces a lot of the permaculture principles. Philip beams that it's a beautiful place - not to mention ecologically sound. Helen begins to doze off as Molly tells Philip that Charles has just launched his own wholemeal loaf and biscuits, would he believe!

Ren is telling Sam that she saw Mal today; he's full of ideas for the Jog for Justice. Sam doesn't respond. Ren asks him if he's OK, but Sam tells her that he's not in the mood to be told his aura needs aligning or his chakra needs releasing. Annalise comes in suddenly and Ren leaves them to it. Annalise tells Sam that she knows about Squirrel. Sam asks who told her. Annalise replies that it doesn't matter, and she asks Sam what he's going to do. He replies that he doesn't know; hope she comes to her senses. Annalise tells him that she admires him for sticking by her; most guys wouldn't. Sam says:
SAM: Annalise, it wasn't... I'm not the father, you know? We didn't...
He breaks off before sighing:
SAM: You're not going to believe me.
ANNALISE: Yeah, I do. I just want you to know that even if, well, even if nothing happens between you and I, we're still friends, you know - I'm still here to listen to you... just talk... whatever. OK?
She walks towards Sam, who gives her a hug.

The video finishes and Mal comments that it wasn't bad for a chick's flick. He puts his arm round Bianca, but she tries to move away from him. She stands up but Mal makes another play for her. Bianca snaps at him:
BIANCA: Stop it.
She then clumps him round the face, causing him to fall back onto the couch.
