Doug comes to see Jim - it's Sunday morning and he's still in his pyjamas. Doug invites Jim and Todd for a picnic, but Jim says that Todd is grounded.
Beach house
Melanie burns some toast and then walks around the house clattering a spoon on a saucepan to wake everyone up. Everyone groggily emerges - no- one really slept too well last night.
In the kitchen, Rory tries to persuade the girls to come for a swim but they refuse. Apparently it's Rory's birthday tomorrow. The girls say they'll have to cook up a plan to celebrate.

Cody and Melissa and chopping vegetables while Cody moans about Pam putting "burnt, dead pig" (bacon) in their salad(!) Josh comes in and asks Melissa how she's feeling, and how the optician went. Melissa says that her eyes are fine. Josh thinks it might be her diet and Melissa is not impressed. Cody moans that Todd is still grounded so Josh decides to go and sort it out using his "subtle, psychological techniques"

Josh greets Jim and Jim insists that he's not changing his mind about the barbecue. Todd sighs and says it's like being in prison.
The Beach
Rory is splashing Caroline in the sea. Melanie and Christina venture in too. Paul glowers behind his sunglasses in the meantime.
Rory splashes Christina and then asks he if she was distracted last night - maybe there was someone else on her mind. She says there isn't and she'll "prove it to him tonight"!

Cody is unpacking the scraps from the barbecue and takes the opportunity to have a large bite of sausage. Pam sees the tomato sauce on her mouth and they all laugh. From now on, it's back to the normal menu. But Cody insists that she's back on the wagon(!)
Josh comes in with some more beach kit and Pam says the kids enjoyed themselves today - bit of a shame that Todd couldn't come. Doug says Todd deserves to be grounded.
Cody is moaning about Todd being grounded again. Melissa and Josh are looking forward to "Personal Development Class" tomorrow (sex education!)
Beach house
Rory jumps out on Melanie and covers her head in a blanket! He ends up kissing her and says he thinks Melanie is very beautiful. Melanie suggests that he comes to her room tonight - so she can "give him his birthday present". She'll meet him in her room in ten minutes.
On the verandah, the twins, Paul and Adam are relaxing. Melanie calls them all in to take part in "Rory's birthday surprise"

It's late at night and Todd comes to the door. He wants to speak to Cody. Cody runs out of her room and hugs him, but Doug tells Todd to go home. He finally relents and says Todd can stay for ten minutes, but they'll have to remain in Doug's company. Cody is not impressed!
Rory's bathroom
Rory has had a shower and is splashing on the aftershave ready for a hot night with Melanie!
Melanie's bedroom
Rory knocks on the door and Melanie calls him in. The room is pitch dark.
RORY: Where are you?
MELANIE: I'm in bed. You would not believe how warm and cosy it is in here.
RORY: Oh, good. Then I won't be needing this robe anymore!
We hear the robe fall to the floor.
RORY: Hey, you've still got all your clothes on.
MELANIE: Yeah, well I needed you to unwrap your present.
RORY: This is getting better all the time!
PAUL: Do that again, buddy, and I'll break your arm.
The lights come on and all of the gang are in Melanie's bed, with streamers and party poppers. They all laugh and mock Rory! He sees the funny side and starts laughing himself.
A path
Todd and Josh are on their way to school. Todd is just glad to be out of the house(!) As they walk, they see Ferret. He's wearing Todd's shoes and Josh is determined to get them back. He chases after him and wrestles him to the ground while Todd pulls his shoes off. But suddenly Todd realises that they're not his - they're two sizes too big.

The gang have all returned home from the beach house. Paul tells Christina that he's glad she's not really interested in Rory - he didn't like the way he treated her.
CHRISTINA: How would you have treated me?
PAUL: Well, for starters, I would have spent all my time with you and not made a move on everything that walked past.
CHRISTINA: That sounds nice. Maybe next time, you should ask me out.
PAUL:(shyly) Yeah, maybe I should, eh?
Caroline and Melanie come in, laughing at Rory.

Adam tells Rory that he's surprised he took the prank so well. Rory says it was all in good fun. Adam tells him off for hitting on Caroline and Melanie as well as Christina. Rory insists that he wasn't hitting on Caroline - after all, she is Adam's girlfriend. He does admit that he likes Melanie though.
Coffee Shop
Todd, Josh, Melissa and Cody are laughing after school about the Personal Development Class. Cody giggles and admits that she stole the condoms on a dare. Melissa eats a cream cake and says she feels hungry. Josh thinks there's something wrong with Melissa.
Just then, the police come in and ask Todd about his shoes.

Caroline goes out to hang the washing line out. Paul is still laughing about Rory.
CHRISTINA: Don't you think the guy's had enough?
PAUL: No, Chrissie, I don't!
CHRISTINA: He may not be perfect, but he's good company.
PAUL: How can you possibly keep defending him?
CHRISTINA: Because he's a friend, remember?
PAUL: Oh, sure, sure. And Caroline's and Melanie's, and any other girl in the world.
CHRISTINA: Paul!
PAUL: He's a letch, Chris. He doesn't care about you.
CHRISTINA:(rather offended) And I suppose you do?
There is a pause and Christina gets exasperated and goes to walk off. But Paul catches her by the left hand and pulls her back. He gives her a peck on the lips, and then kisses her properly.
