The Coffee Shop
Henry sits back down after telling Steve to back off from Charlene while Harold comes back from the cupboard saying how much he is glad that Henry is going camping with him and Todd. Harold comments on how he thought he heard a customer come in and Henry tells him he told him to go away as it was Steve Fisher "The jerk who been trying to get onto Charlene!" The phone rings - its Madge wondering where they are. Apparently Todd is getting restless and is waiting for them.
Number 26
Katie is sitting down while Todd is waiting at the door for Harold and Henry. Helen tells him not to worry and that they should be along soon as Harold is looking forward to it more than he is. Todd walks over to Jim, who has immersed his face in some hot water to ease his flu, and says that he wishes it was Jim who was taking them. Katie begins to complain about Sonia's party as boys have been invited which is 'yuck' so she would rather go camping. Helen says that she'll have to stay because she shouldn't let Sonia down. Helen compromises and says that she and Katie can make up their own camp in the backyard. Even if they're not in the bush, it'll still be fun.
Mrs. Mangel's
Mrs. Mangel is opening up a letter that someone has sent for 'Dear Georgette' and discovers that it is another letter from John Worthington. She discovers that John 'hates' her. The letter says, "Imagine my dismay when this lady, who I thought was a wonderful and kind lady, behaves in way that can only be described as vindictive, mean and spiteful." The letter than goes onto ask 'Georgette' whether he should terminate his friendship immediately. Jane says not to worry but Mrs. Mangel believes it is all down to Madge. She can understand how John is feeling but decides to correspond to John by saying that one little outburst shouldn't mean the end to a friendship. Mrs. Mangel goes over to Jane on the couch and asks if people really think she is vindictive. Jane gives an answer, which really isn't what Mrs. Mangel wants to hear so she says that from now on she is going to be a nicer person so people can never call her those horrible names again.
Number 26
Harold arrives as Todd and Henry come out of the bedroom carrying some camping bags that they're about to put in the car. Harold comments to Jim on what a wonderful day it is and says that he can smell menthol. Harold says that Jim looks 'awful' so he won't get to close to him as he doesn't want to be suffering from the flu in the middle of the bush. Helen and Katie come in and Harold tells them how much he looking forward to going camping. Todd comes back in and Harold asks him if he has ever read 'The Jungle book', Todd says that he hasn't but Harold suggests that during camping they refer to one another as characters from that book. Katie asks what she could be but Harold says he doesn't think they're any girls in 'The Jungle Book'. Mrs. Mangel politely asks if she can come in and Helen says she can. She immediately goes over to Jim who is still immersed in a hot water/menthol solution. Mrs. Mangel gives him some of her special chicken soup which she 'swears by'. Jim, looking slightly surprised, thanks her as she walks over to Todd and asks him what he's up to. Todd explains the camping trip to her and she says that he will be in good hands with Mr. Bishop. Helen, yet again, apologises for breaking Sedrick but Mrs. Mangel says not to worry as Jim has fixed him perfectly. Mrs. Mangel says that Katie will be able to see Sedrick next time she comes over to play with Bouncer. Before leaving she asks Harold to give her best wishes to his 'charming wife'. Once Mrs. Mangel leaves they discuss how she must be in 'good spirit' today.
Des and Mike's
Paul is telling Des how Mrs. Mangel came over today to give him a stew and she heard that Gail was going to the country for a wedding. Jane comes in and gives five dollars to Des which is from Mrs. Mangel who wants to apologise for not taking part in the scavenger hunt. Jane says that her Nan wants to 'turn over a new leaf' but Paul reminds her that 'Leopard's don't change their spots'. Jane does say that she may have a motive which Paul says is either 'love or money'. Jane tells him a clue. 'It's not money'.
Number 26
Katie and Helen are going through all the camping equipment that they have laid out in front of them when Katie hints that Helen might be a tad too old to be doing things like this. Helen calls her a 'minx' and says that she has spent 'weeks in the wild'. She assures both Jim and Katie that she is very tough. Both Helen and Katie can smell something horrible from the kitchen which they describe as like 'old socks'. Jim tells them that he is just heating up the food that Mrs. Mangel brought over and he doesn't care how it smells as long as it works.
The Bush
Harold, Henry and Todd are getting out of the car when Henry says it looks 'nice'. Henry goes to get the bag out of the trunk and recommends that they have something to eat but Harold says that they 'shall do no such thing', as he wants to find the perfect place to set up camp. Harold asks Todd to repeat what he said in the car. 'Be prepared' it is apparently. Harold says that they should 'erect the tent' and tells Todd to go and get it. "Lesson one, how to erect the tent the right way."
The Coffee Shop
Mrs. Mangel peers through the window looking for someone and eventually goes in and sees John. She describes seeing him as a 'lovely surprise' and asks if she can sit down with him as she wants to explain about the 'embarrassing business' with Madge the other day. She explains that normally she is such a good natured person but John tells her that he is 'disappointed' with her behaviour. She tells him that the person he witnessed yesterday was not the real her. Helen and Katie walk in and Helen instantly recognises John and they both say how well they're looking. Helen thanks Mrs. Mangel for the food she brought over for Jim and Mrs. Mangel tells Katie that she can over any time to play with Bouncer. Katie explains that she can't today as she camping with Helen.
The Bush
Henry, Harold and Todd have finished erecting the tent and Harold says that it looks perfect but Henry is not impressed as he thinks he could have done it quicker. Todd asks if they could have something to eat so goes to check the trunk for some food, but apparently they've forgotten the basket that was packed with the food they needed! Harold says that they'll have to make do with anything they can find, including flowers.
Des and Mike's
Des is telling Jane that he really appreciates today and so offers to make them some dinner but Jane says that her Nan is expecting her. He begs her to stay and she finally agrees.
Mrs. Mangel's
Mrs. Mangel is putting on some music and John says he loves Mozart and Mrs. Mangel agrees. She thanks him for coming to dinner as he probably thinks she was mean and vindictive with Madge. She feels so ashamed and asks John for his forgiveness. John says that they should forget about it and they should just enjoy a nice evening together.
Number 26
Paul is telling some Katie some stories about past camping tips but Helen tells him not to as she'll give Katie nightmares. Jim comes out and tells Paul about how the food Mrs. Mangel brought over has really made him feel better. Paul says that he received a casserole from her today because Gail's away and that she's only being nice because she is in love with someone. Helen says that it's probably John Worthington and wishes her good luck with him. Helen walks over to the counter and realises that the food she has packed for the boys camping trip is still there. She begins to worry about Henry as when he's hungry he eats anything he can find!
The Bush
Harold, Henry and Todd have just come back from a trail they've walked on to find that the tent they erected earlier on is collapsing. Henry flips and demands that Harold gives him the keys to the car so Harold reluctantly looks for the keys but can't find them! They all agree that they'll go to sleep and search for the keys in the morning. Henry sarcastically says that this is the best trip of his life as Harold stands alone looking sorry for himself.
