Clarkes
Jane and Mike are playing with Jamie. Des arrives home after taking Eileen and Sally to the airport. Des says it's going to be quiet without Eileen around and says he has advertised for a Nanny. Des goes to feed Jamie but Mike says he has already done it.
Paul and Gails
Paul and Gail are lounging around in their pyjamas. Gail wonders how Harold and Madge are enjoying their honeymoon. Paul talks about David and the boring speech he made at the wedding. Gail thinks they should invite David around for lunch but Paul is not convinced and says he'd rather just spend time with her. They agree to spend the afternoon together and invite David for lunch.
Clarkes Front Garden
Jane and Mike are kissing when Mrs Mangel comes outside and tells them to stop their 'disgraceful behaviour'. Mrs Mangel says it's no wonder David felt her couldn't stay in the house with this kind of behaviour going on. She's not sure Henry is the best candidate for a housemate but comments that at least Henry doesn't have a criminal bond! She tells Jane to think carefully about the damage she is doing to her reputation.
Ramsays
David is getting ready for lunch. Henry tells him not to overdress, as Paul and Gail will probably be dressed casually. David tells Henry that he has no luck with relationships. Henry tells him that he has a lot going for him and tells him he should move back to Mrs Mangels so that he can get to know Jane better.
Mrs Mangel arrives and wants to speak to David. She invites him for lunch but he says he already has arrangements. They agree to have afternoon tea.
Paul and Gails
Des has turned down Paul and Gail's lunch invitation, as he wants to spend time with Jamie. David arrives and finds Paul and Gail kissing, he awkwardly stumbles into the house and tells Paul and Gail he is a vegetarian. Gail says that's fine and says they have plenty of salad for him to eat. David is interested in their business careers and tells them he is a businessman himself, he works in a factory that makes ties! He talks them through the hardship of choosing patterns for various ties.
David: It's a business you can really get tied up in....that was a joke actually....tied up!
Clarkes
Des is making some food for Jamie. Mike says that he has already given him bananas for breakfast and said they shouldn't give Jamie too many dairy products. He gives Des some steamed vegetables that he has prepared in the fridge. Des tells him if he keeps this up Jamie will wonder how many fathers he has.
Paul and Gails
Paul, Gail and David are eating lunch. David explains to them some more about ties and how the length of someone's tie tells you a lot about their personality. Jane arrives and asks to speak to David. She tells him she hopes he didn't move out of the house because of her. She wonders if it's Mike and he says it's nothing to do with him, he just wanted to get to know Henry better.
Clarkes
Des has had trouble getting Jamie to sleep. Mike says he should have taken him for a walk as that always makes him tired. Des tells Mike that they should draw up a list to dictate who does what. Des gives himself all the jobs with Jamie much to Mike's annoyance.
Mrs Mangels
Jane, Mrs Mangel and David are having afternoon tea. David is telling them stories from his university days, much to the delight of Mrs Mangel. Whilst Jane is outside, Mrs Mangel and David talk about Mike. Mrs Mangel tells him Jane's involvement with Mike worries her after he has had such troubles with the law. Mrs Mangel doesn't understand why David is spending time trying to get to know Henry. She says he is a layabout, just like his mother. David is shocked to hear such things as he thought Madge was quite nice. Mrs Mangel tells him that Madge led Harold a merry dance before they finally married.
Ramsays
David arrives home and Henry is laid up on the couch. David starts clearing up around him and tells him he has had a lovely afternoon. He thinks Jane likes him after she told him she admires him. David says it's his duty to save Jane from herself.
Clarkes
Mike asks if he can take Jamie for a walk. Des apologises and says he was jealous because Mike and Jamie were getting on so well. Mike says Des has every right to want to spend time with Jamie but Des says they are all one family.
Ramsay Street
David marches up to the Clarke house and meets Mike as he is coming down the path. He tells him he doesn't believe he deserves Jane; he is in love with her and intends to do everything in his power to win her.
