At the Ramsays
Scott is still working on the sketch of Jane at the kitchen table. Charlene shouts through to him to come and watch the movie with her but he answers that he's tired and is going to bed. She comes in and asks him to stay up with her for a while but he won't. She cuddles him and complains that she hardly gets to see him anymore. Henry comes in to spoil her fun moaning that no-one wanted to play darts with him at the Waterhole. She asks why Sally cancelled and he reveals that he knows but won't tell her. Scott jokes that there are plenty more fish in the sea.
CHARLENE: Not for you, your fishing days are over.
SCOTT: Oh well, looks like I'm stuck with the flathead that I've got (He and Henry laugh)
CHARLENE: Go to bed. Go on.
Henry and Charlene go to watch the film together and Charlene goes on about Scott's studying again. Still, at least the exams are nearly here, there's light at the end of the tunnel. Henry isn't so sure - "When I see light at the end of a tunnel it's usually a train roaring towards me."
At the Clarkes
Des sneaks back in to be startled by Eileen sitting on the couch in her dressing down and face mask.
EILEEN: What time of night do you call this Desmond?
DES: Ten to eleven mum.
She smells his breath and asks why he hasn't been drinking. He says this is a turn up for the books - her having a go at him for not drinking! She warns that he is turning into his father and the Clarke curse is about to strike again (Not sure what the Clarke curse is but I think it's being unable to keep a happy family together).
At the Ramsays
The movie finishes and Charlene declares that it was stupid - the husband in the film was cheating on his wife the whole time and she didn't suspect a thing. Henry comments that love is blind. Married men have affairs all the time and it's always the wife who's the last to know - "even happens right here in Erinsborough". Charlene, interested now, wants to know who's having an affair. Apparently forgetting Charlene's suspicions about Scott Henry stands up and tells her to forget it, it's too close to home. She runs after him and demands to know what he knows that she doesn't. He gets stroppy and tells her to leave it - "What you don't know won't hurt you, or anyone else" and goes out. She goes into her bedroom where Scott is crashed out on the bed fully dressed. She smiles and says Henry couldn't have been talking about him, he doesn't have the energy left to two time her. Until she bends down next to him and sees the picture of Jane he's now framed... Instead of whacking him round the head with it she puts it back under his papers so he doesn't know she's seen it.
In the street the next day
Scott stops Mike jogging and asks him to tell Jane he'll meet her at the lake. Mike agrees and watches him go, re-hearing the words from Jane's diary in his head.
At the Mangels
Jane apologises to Mike for not staying up and talking but she was really tired. He says he can imagine after all that studying. She says she thinks they're best leaving things as they are anyway, especially while they're living under the same roof. She's sure he'll understand. He replies that he understands alright and he has a message from her pupil - "he wants to meet you at Lassiters Lake so I won't hold you up. And I'm sure you don't want to keep him waiting either."
At the lake
Henry runs into Scott with his wheelbarrow. He is creating the ultimate garden (hidden under some trees). Jane arrives and asks Scott why he chose to meet at the lake. He tells her Saturday morning is hectic at his place then gives her the picture he drew, all wrapped up. She thanks him and kisses his cheek. He holds her arm and they gaze into each others eyes, before Scott moves in and kisses her properly. They pull apart and realise Henry is not far away, still creating his ultimate garden. Scott says he doesn't think Henry saw anything but Jane jumps up and says she should have stopped him whether Henry was there or not. Scott tries to rationalise things and says he doesn't know why but he wanted to kiss her. She runs away saying they shouldn't see each other for a while, maybe not at all.
At the coffee shop
In the kitchen Sally thanks Eileen for all her help in the coffee shop. Eileen says it's nice to be appreciated. She hopes Sally will stay. Sally would like to, but can't afford to keep staying at Lassiters. Eileen mentions there are a few boarding houses around and will think about things for her.
Charlene comes into the main shop and asks Mike for double chocolate milkshake and some carrot cake - she can't afford it but she eats heaps when she's miserable. Mike asks what she's upset about and she says it's Scott and Jane, in particular the sketch Scott has done of Jane - he should be doing them of her. She tries to reassure herself that she shouldn't be worried about them - after all, Jane's never shown any interest in Scott. Mike turns away and tuts. She asks what that means and he says it's none of her business, which worries her more. He gives in and tells her Jane used to have a thing for Scott about 2 years ago. She gets mad and storms out.
In Mrs Mangel's garden
CHARLENE: I need to ask you something Jane. What's going on between you and my husband?
JANE: Look Charlene, I know what Henry saw must have seemed pretty bad (Charlene looks concerned) but it wasn't really like that. I mean yes, Scott and I were kissing but (Charlene looks more than concerned!)
CHARLENE: You were kissing?? You and Scott were kissing?!
In the coffee shop
Eileen asks Des if he has any suggestions where Sally can live. He says she can move in with them. Eileen is shocked. That would mean she and Sally would have to share the nursery, and how would Daphne feel having another woman in her home? He'll have to think of something better than that!
On Mrs Mangel's drive
Jane chases after Charlene who is insisting she wants to hear it from Scott. Jane tries to stop her, saying she's her friend (!). Charlene asks what would her friend be doing kissing her husband? "I thought I could trust you, I thought I could trust Scott, well I was wrong wasn't I!". She questions Jane about her having a thing for Scott and says the studying was just an excuse for them to spend time alone. Jane protests that that was ages ago and Charlene catches her out by asking "So you don't feel anything for him now?" Jane is unable to answer and Charlene rages "You're in love with him! You're trying to steal my husband!" She warns her to keep away from Scott, and from her too, or she won't be responsible for what happens (Good girl!).
At the coffee shop
Sally asks Mike about his family (not going to start nicking photos of him too is she?!). He says there's only his mum and he doesn't see her much - Des, Daph and Jamie are his family now. She says that Des is great. A gloomy Henry walks in for a take away coffee and Sally apologises for last night .She says she is free tonight but Henry cuts her off and says he's not. He goes to Des and says loudly that he thought he'd be spending the weekend with his wife, and his new baby. Des tells him he's going there soon and staying until tomorrow. Henry sees - that's why Sally is free tonight.
On Ramsay Street
Jane runs over to Scott and says they're in really big trouble. Henry must have seen them kissing and has told Charlene. Scott is horrified. Jane tells him that Charlene thinks there's even more to it and won't listen to her. It's up to Scott to make her understand (just a small challenge then). He says he'll try and goes inside.
At the Ramsays
Charlene is staring out of the window with a face like thunder. She sees Scott coming in and sits in the armchair. Scott runs in and says he knows what she must be thinking but she's wrong, it was all a big mistake. She asks if that means he didn't kiss Jane? He tells her he did, but he didn't mean anything by it. She reminds him that when they played the truth and dare game they promised to tell each other nothing but the truth. He swears that he is. She asks him to tell her how he feels about Jane then.
SCOTT: I've kind of seen her in a different light lately. I always knew she was nice but I didn't know her all that well that's all. Not as a person anyway
CHARLENE: Go on
SCOTT: Since we've been studying together I've got to like her a lot more. She's got a warm personality, she's gone out of her way to help me (Charlene grits her teeth). I guess I've just become closer to her.
CHARLENE: How did you come to kiss her?
SCOTT: (Stares at the back of Charlene's head) We were by the lake and just for a minute, just for a minute, I was tempted to kiss her. I just had this sudden urge (He kneels down next to her) I know I shouldn't have Charlene and I am sorry.
CHARLENE: I forbid you to ever see her again
SCOTT: (Shakes his head) You can't forbid me to do anything.
CHARLENE: (Looks at him in disbelief and stands up) Oh so you want to keep seeing her do you? And do you want to keep kissing her too and doing whatever else you might feel like when you're tempted for a moment?
SCOTT: It was just that once!
CHARLENE: What sort of idiot do you think I am?! I don't believe that, I can just imagine what's been going on!
SCOTT: Nothing has been going on Charlene, nothing. Honestly.
Charlene sees the picture of Jane in his bag (I thought he gave that away?) and runs into the bedroom. She tries to shut Scott out but he forces the door open. Now in tears she grabs the picture out of his bag and throws it against the wall so the glass smashes (sense at last!) then when Scott goes to pick it up she throws herself against him and hits his arms and back. He tries to restrain her so she slaps him across the face (Go Charlene!). He throws her on to the bed and picks up some clothes and his guitar (just the essentials then!) and tells her there's no point in talking to her while she's like this, he's moving back to dad's place. She warns him that if he walks out that door their marriage is over. He tells her that's her decision and walks out. She collapses in a crying heap on the bed. Scott holds it together until he gets outside then collapses in a crying heap on the stairs.
