Recap
- Jim and Amy catch up over dinner.
- Helen tells Scott and Julie that if Gwen comes to the wedding she'll walk out of the Robinson house.
Ramsays
Maria and Richard are cuddling on the sofa. Richard says he's going away tomorrow night for a couple of days. He invites Maria to come with him. She's rather takenaback but Richard thinks she can talk Danny round. She says she'll think about it. But Richard pushes the point and asks her for a yes or no. Maria says yes, but after she talks to Danny. They have a pash. (Bleurgh!!)
Danny and Shane come in from playing squash.
Shane and Richard make smalltalk in the living room. Shane tells Richard he's glad he and Maria are making a go of things.
When Richard has gone home, Shane says he seems like a nice bloke. Maria is very pleased that he likes him. Shane says he wants to see Maria happy - even if it means not being with Max. Maria hugs Shane tightly.
Maria breaks the news to Danny and Shane about her going away with Richard for a few days. Danny isn't very pleased, especially when he hears they're leaving tomorrow. He says it's OK as long as they're back on Sunday in time to go to the concert.
Robinsons
Jim is talking philosophically about getting old. Helen says she was only six years older than Lucy is now when she married Bill! (the mind boggles!!) Suddenly Helen gets a bit upset and tells Jim that Julie's insisting on inviting Gwen to the wedding. Jim says maybe it's time they sorted things out.
HELEN: Oh, Jim. I loved her so much. But she betrayed me.
Jim asks what happened. Apparently a long time ago Gwen accuses Helen of stealing money - they were still at boarding school. Jim is a bit surprised that this is all it was. Helen explains that Gwen denounced her as a thief in front of the entire school and Helen was expelled. While Gwen stayed on at school. Helen says it was awful - even her own parents didn't believe her. Only Bill believed her, and that's why Helen married so young - there was nowhere else to go.
HELEN: I hate her. I hate her. I begged her to tell mum and dad before they died - to tell them the truth. Because you see, I didn't take that money. She did.
Helen starts to cry and Jim comforts her.
Robinsons, the following morning
Helen tells Julie that she hasn't changed her mind about Gwen coming to the wedding. Julie tries to talk her round and Helen fumes, telling Julie to leave it alone.
Jim gives Paul and Terry some good news - the loan has come through so they can get their unit. Paul goes to work out how much the mortgage repayments are. He thinks they'll manage though, even without Terry working. Paul will just do some overtime instead.
Max and Shane see Paul and Terry's engagement announcement in the paper. There's also an article about Max being a champion to women's rights for giving Terry a job(!) Max isn't exactly pleased!
The phone rings, and it's for Terry (why would anyone ring her at Max's?!) He says his name is Charles Durham. He says he wants to see her and he "wants the tape back". Terry tells him no way. She's getting married and he won't get her or the tapes back. She tells him never to ring her again and hangs up.
Shane making plans to take Liz for a driving licence. Terry asks if Daphne knows about it.
Shane asks Max if he's going to his school reunion, but he doesn't want to.
Smugglers' Bar
Jim and Amy are haivng a drink and talking about the School Reunion - they've just got back. They talk about their old school. Jim offers to show Amy round the old neighbourhood.
Luna Park
Jim and Amy are reminiscing about being schoolkids at the park.
AMY:(wistfully) Whatever happened to the fun times?
JIM: They're still there. We just don't notice them anymore.
Jim is a bit touchy-feely with Amy. He takes her into the park and they go on the big wheel and several rollercoasters. We are treated to an aerial view. So are they when the man stops the ride when they're up the top. Oddly, they don't panic!
They reminisce about kissing on the ride when they were young. Then Jim kisses Amy.
Ramsays
Danny answers the phone to Max. He gives him a message for Maria - they're to see the solicitor at five.
Then the phone rings again and it's Richard. Danny address him as Dick!! He also leaves a message for Maria - he's running late at the office and he's rebooked their 6pm flight for 7pm.
(Later)
Max comes round and Maria hasn't got the message about the solicitor. She tells him she's going away with Richard. Max tells her to have a good time and offers her a lift to the airport. Then he carries her bags out to the car, much to her surprise! Danny sees them leaving and realises Maria didn't get the message about Richard Morrison either. He calls after her when he knows she's out of range(!)
Robinsons
Julie isn't pleased to hear that Maria has gone away with Richard Morrison, so Helen tells her to keep her nose out of their business. Then she starts going on about Gwen again. Julie wants to know why so Helen tells her in no uncertain terms to leave it well alone. Julie keeps pushing and pushing.
HELEN: Julie. Understand this once and for all. Aunty Gwen will never be invited here as long as I'm part of this household and that is that.
She stomps off. When she's gone, Julie adds Gwen's name to the list of wedding guests!
Airport
Max is dropping Maria off a bit wistfully. He says he's glad they can talk now - better late than never. There is a bit of tension and Max is sad to see hr go.
MAX: Suppose we'll make better friends than partners.
Both Max and Maria seem a bit sad now.
Maria goes to the departures gate alone. When she gets there, Richard isn't there. She still thinks they're on the 6pm flight. There's no sign of Richard of course, and no messages. Maria looks downcast.
