Brad is sitting under a tree talking to Piper via video on his phone.
PIPER: It's just so depressing to think that you're living in a motel room.
BRAD: It's more boring than depressing.
PIPER: They're always just so...beige and dismal.
BRAD: It's not that bad.
PIPER: Sure.
BRAD: On the plus side, you should see my collection of mini shampoo and conditioners bottles. It's enough to last me a lifetime.
Piper has tears running down her face.
BRAD: Come on, Piper, don't cry. I know it's been tough. Look, it might help if you talk about what's on your mind.
PIPER: What's on my mind...? Real?...wow, OK, Dad, gee, let's see...so the ending of Pretty Little Lies pretty much ruined the show, um, One Direction are going on hiatus, so I've got that to worry about, um, apparently, all the bees are dying! So, yeah, gee, what else is there?! Dunno, Dad!
BRAD: It's been hard on everyone.
PIPER: I just...I just can't believe how much everything's fallen apart, Dad, we're not even a family anymore.
BRAD: Of course we are...we...we just live in different places now.
PIPER: I just thought that you and mum were always going to be one of those...happy, annoying couples that embarrass their kids in public by holding hands...now you're just a statistic.
BRAD: I know it's hard to understand...sometimes people change and...sometimes they don't change together.
PIPER: Um, why do they have to change at all?
BRAD: Your mum and I, we're working it out.
PIPER: I just...I just always thought that, y'know, I'd meet a guy, a good guy...and we'd have 2.3 kids, and we'd go on picnics, and have days at the beach, y'know, stuff that *our* family did. But it was just all a lie, wasn't it?! Y'know, there *aren't* any good guys, you're just...you're just like the rest of them!
BRAD: Hey, that is not true and you *will* find someone special one day.
PIPER: No. You know, Dad, guys just sell you a happily- ever- after story, just so they get what they want from you, but it's just a lie.
BRAD: Is there something else going on?
PIPER: Can't I just be upset about this situation for a minute?
BRAD: Your mum and I, we love you very much, and we will always be here if you want to talk, OK? About anything.
PIPER: Sometimes I just wish I hadn't have left.
BRAD: What happened between your Mum and me has nothing to do with you, OK?
PIPER: I have to go now.
BRAD: Same time next week?
PIPER: Yeah, I'll let you know.
She hangs up. Brad rubs his face, and Piper still looks upset.
