The Waterhole
Leo has made his mind up - he wants to give fostering a bash as they have so much to offer, as well as it being the perfect solution for Krista. She is thrilled with this news and tells Leo that she couldn't love him anymore!
The pair join Paul/Terese and reveal that they plan to foster, which is received well by them.
PAUL: This family's got an awful lot to look forward to.
Number 24
Jane is trying to take her mind off Clint by reading the book he gave her. Nicolette is a bit sarcastic regarding the book, and Jane reminds her daughter that at her request, she has backed off Clint.
Changing the subject totally, Jane wonders if Nicolette wants to research sperm donors. "Mum, you make it sound like popping down to the shops," Nicolette replies given the nonchalant way Jane dropped this into the conversation! Jane's mantra is there is no harm in getting the ball rolling unless Nicolette has been looking already… which Nicolette chooses not to answer and is distracted instead by a text arriving on her phone!
Lassiters hotel foyer
Krista and Leo are pleased to hear that Clint plans on introducing Addison to his mum today, before she moves into a care home. While the lass nips upstairs to get her jacket, Krista suggests to Clint that if he raises the topic with her, Addison is open to move in with him. That then gets the onto the topic of fostering and Leo/Krista reveal that they are ready to look into fostering but are quick to get I that they aren't trying to take Addison away from him, which he is pleased to hear!
The Waterhole
Felix joins Elle at her table to invite her to a private dinner for two at the tram (he will cook). Elle informs him that she might be a bit late while she investigates Jonesy - while she hasn't found a connection between Jonah Jackson and the Linwell's she has found evidence that Jonesy might be on the take, since he has some newly acquired properties that are required by the freeway and reckons he, and whoever tipped him off, are "cashing in big time." She hasn't fully finished her digging yet, however, has sussed out enough to know what kind of a guy Jonesy is and plans to "literally run into him" by going out for a run at the same time he does. She then hopes for an invitation to his place (apparently this single guy loves the ladies!) where Elle will then find all the evidence she requires!
FELIX: You sound like you've done this before!
Elle laughs at his comment before informing him that "men are easily manipulated!"
Harold's café
Krista/Leo run into Paul just as he is about to leave. After complimenting his new togs, Krista reminds Paul about the monthly Lassiters update meeting, and they agree to meet up tomorrow afternoon.
Krista leaves Leo to chat with his dad and heads over to ask Zac about the mystery comps… which Krista has twigged he is the one behind them. Zac doesn't deny her accusations and apologises instead for copying what happened in Darwin especially without informing her. He puts this down to an "error in judgment" and again profusely apologises and when he goes to say he will reimburse the hotel, she cuts him off as she needs time to think!
Lassiters Complex
Rose and Sam are talking about wedding pressies (Rose has bought Mike and Angela a jigsaw puzzle as a wedding pressie!) at the Brasserie, when Jane and Nicolette arrive, and so Sam does the intros. As Rose/Jane make small talk with each other, Nicolette quietly comments to Sam (after seeing how Rose/Jane are getting on with each other and appear to have very similar tastes) that Mike obviously has a type!
Meanwhile as they walk through the complex, Krista bemoans to her hubby the change in Zac lately and wonders if there is something else going on.
Eirini Rising
Zac is seeking solace from Colton given Krista is onto him. Colton is confident now the blackmail is over, he can win Krista's trust back and suggests rather than waiting for Krista's approval to reimburse Lassiters, he goes ahead and does that.
Lassiters Complex
Leo finishes his pep talk with Krista (about Zac) and is sure that things will get back to normal now everything is out in the open. Their chat is interrupted when Krista gets a text message - its from accounts letting her know Zac has asked them to doc his wages to reimburse the hotel for the comps. Leo thinks this is good as it shows Zac is trying to make amends, but Krista thinks otherwise - that it is still really weird.
Melbourne
Elle is in some park warming up ready to run into Jonesy. She has her 'body guard' on hand - Felix dressed up as a businessman, as if he's just finished a day in the office! Elle doesn't look too annoyed at his sudden appearance but equally tells him to get lost in case Jonesy appears.
Lassiters Complex
Over a Devonshire tea, Rose/Jane continue to bond with each other. Rose takes the opportunity to thank Jane for looking after Sam, as if she were another daughter. Jane reassures Sam that they will be waiting for her return, in 3 months' time. Sam jokes that Nicolette might be pregnant by then, but she doesn't sound too confident.
Paul briefly interrupts to wish Sam safe travels and since he is there, Nicolette introduces him to Rose. He is then on- hand to witness more of Rose/Jane being similar - they've both bought Sam a pressie for the trip… a signature bumbag!
Melbourne
While they wait, Felix susses Elle out to see if she has any dietary allergies ahead of their meal (it would appear she has none) when instead of Jonesy appearing, they instead spot the Mayor of Erinsborough heading into the building Jonah works in.
FELIX: Another coincidence?
ELLE: Or a highly suspicious connection?!
Lassiters Park
As they walk around the back of Harold's, Jane is oblivious to Nicolette's claims about her similarities to Rose when they run into Krista. Nicolette takes the opportunity to return the baby journey book since "it's not my journey anymore" and Kirsta can use it instead when they foster. Krista seems taken aback by its return and apologises "about how it all worked out" and wishes it could be different.
NICOLETTE: It wasn't meant to be. We're all good!
Krista heads off and Jane questions Nicolette giving the book away, citing she could have used it instead for her solo parenting journey but thankfully Nicolette avoids replying when the pair run into Addison/Clint at the book exchange.
They hear Addison had a great time meeting grandma, but the happy atmosphere goes when Clint discovers the book he gave to Jane is inside the book exchange. Jane quickly explains that she did have a really good read of it and the comments inside! Clint hopes she got a kick out of it before dad/daughter then quickly say their goodbyes.
Melbourne
The duo wonder what Mayor Brown is up to in the building when the Mayor and Jonah walk out the building together! Felix is trying to think the meeting is simply an innocent one, and she wasn't the one who tipped him off about the freeway, but barely seconds later his mindset has changed when they spot the Mayor/Jonah pashing! Elle quickly snaps the pair pashing and says to Felix that "while none of that is absolute proof of corruption, it certainly proves that Lady Helen ain't who she seems to be!"
The Waterhole
Jane admits after Terese asks, that it was nice to finally meet Rose and concedes too that she does feel a slight twinge about Mike getting married. It also dawns on Jane that she's never yet found the lost engagement ring before acknowledging that life moves on… and is on a mission [when she gets home] to ensure Nicolette is doing the same.
Meanwhile, Zac comes looking for Krista to check she got the message from accounts. She confirms that she did… then told them to ignore his edict a) because she wanted time to think about it b) with Zac's impeccable track record up until now, it didn't seem fair to make him reimburse Lassiters. Zac is very sincere and grateful, promising it won't happen again!
KRISTA: We all make mistakes Zac. I guess the important thing moving forward is that honesty is the best policy.
Number 22
The detective duo are showing Paul/Terese what they discovered on their trip to the city. Both are shocked at what Elle/Felix discovered especially since Mayor Brown has "always been straight as an arrow." "Not if she's cosying up to real estate moguls and helping them cash in," Elle quickly replies back, which Paul can't really argue against since "it's not the first time a decent woman's fallen prey to lesser companies."
TERESE: Aww sweetheart, don't talk about yourself like that!
Terese wants to know how Jonesy links to the Linwell's? Elle admits she isn't sure, but is confident that "it definitely feels dodgy." Despite Elle wanting to carry on investigating herself, Paul firmly demands she shows the police what she has uncovered to let them investigate further.
Number 24
Jane arrives home and immediately tells Nicolette that they have to talk… about her baby plans! Nicolette would rather not and tries to distract Jane instead by suggesting what to have for supper instead. Jane wears her daughter down and eventually Nicolette admits she is "having second thoughts about the whole thing" but refuses to say exactly why.
JANE: You have been thinking about this for years now. I know you were hurt when Leo and Krista changed their minds, but that's no reason to… to give up completely.
With a slamming down on the counter of the tin she was holding, Nicolette replies that she is "just feeling differently. That's all."
The Waterhole
Given how late it now is, as they enter the pub, Felix asks Elle two questions - the first if he is still making dinner tonight, although it might now be two- minute noodles rather than the steak he'd intended on cooking! Given what they discovered today, the is second question is concerning whether Elle does want to investigate herself since the police station is nearby! Elle is determined to finish things, but Felix points out she would if she went to the police, however that means she wouldn't get any of the glory.
ELLE: I broke the story in the first place. I should be credited with seeing it through.
And on that, Elle leaves Felix to go meet up with Wes to tell him about what she discovered earlier.
Number 22
Before they head upstairs to bed, Colton does his best to reassure Zac that his news story will die down as "every trend has a shelf life" plus "tennis season is over" too… although maybe not now Wes has seen the video! (He was watching it at the bar before speaking to Elle).
Meanwhile, Paul tells Terese that he has been chatting with Jimmy again, but talk of that is curtailed when Terese spots that they've still got up the invitation to the Rodwell vow renewal.
PAUL: I don't think Wendy would wanna be reminded of the vow renewal that never was.
That chat is then curtained when Elle/Felix enter the house and she explains how instead of telling the police what she discovered, she gave the information to Wes instead. Paul is flabbergasted at what she's done but the pair seem relived to hear that its Wes who will be writing about it and not Elle, but she has wrangled a namecheck as part of their deal. That goes down like a lead balloon with Paul given the half- information is going to inflame and upset an awful lot of people!
TERESE: I would've thought you'd learned your lesson!
Elle denies that the information is half baked as she is certain "there's not just smoke, there's fire." "Yeah, and a very strong risk of defamation," Paul reminds her with.
ELLE: We're simply going to expose the link between Helen and Jonah and let the authorities decide the rest.
Paul then turns his attention to Felix, but Elle gets in quick to warn her dad off hassling him, pointing out that Felix did tell her to go to the police.
FELIX: As Red pointed out, the moment the story comes out, the police will follow up, so it's more or less the same result.
ELLE: Trust me, it will be fine!
Lassiters Complex (next day)
So whatever it was that Wes wrote, it wasn't as bad as Paul feared given Terese descries it as "relatively contained." Paul isn't disagreeing, he just wishes Elle's name "wasn't plastered all over it." Terese thinks Elle has learned her lesson as she isn't "spearheading this one" unlike the last time.
The pairs attention is then drawn to something happening in the complex itself [they're walking in the outer part] and when we cut to it, we can see that there is a film crew waiting in the complex.
TERESE: A lot of interest for a local council scandal.
PAUL: If that's all it is.
Just at that, a SUV pulls up into the car park and the film crew rush towards it. In cuffs, escorted by a police officer is Mayor Helen as reporters ask if the rumours are true and what the allegations are? Mayor Brown only has words for one person - Paul!
MAYOR BROWN: You're gonna regret your daughter going rogue!
PAUL: Rough morning Helen?!
MAYOR BROWN: You have no idea what you've unleashed! Oh, this is going to backfire on you big time!
Mayor Brown is then forced to undergo the 'walk of shame' as she is frogmarched by the police officer towards the police station.
TERESE: What did she mean by that?
PAUL: I don't know, but it certainly sounded like a threat.
Coming up on Neighbours
- Nicolette coming clean with her mum.
- Susan asking if Terese/Paul are engaged?
- Annalise back in time for some meeting.
- Sam hoping the rumour he's heard is untrue
