Previously
- Jane finding something lying on the corridor floor.
- Jane giving Wendy some advice over Andrew.
- Zac checking in a guest to the hotel who is after a hotel with a tennis court and calls him 'coach'.
- Taye/Sadie/Max learning that Shane isn't into beauty products when he turns down investing in their product.
- Krista confirming she doesn't want to carry another baby.
- Krista quizzing Terese if she'd consider Nicolette to carry her child.
- Krista discussing with Nicolette why they should consider using her to carry the baby.
- Krista giving Nicolette the good news that she and Leo want to have a baby with her.
Number 24
Jane hears the good news but still feels that more discussions is required from the trio but Nicolette just wants to go get a bottle of non- alcoholic bubbles to celebrate their decision. However, this is curtailed when more visitors arrive to the house - Terese and Paul, who are primarily there to see the girls. Paul picks up on the weird atmosphere and Nicolette can't resist blurting out "we're having a baby!" This knocks Paul for six and when Leo explains the plan to him, this then causes Paul to ask if they are "out of your mind" because the plan "is absolute madness!"
PAUL: You cannot have a child with this woman! Oh come on, don't you remember how disastrous it was with Aaron and David?
Terese tries to calm Paul down which gives the game away that she knew they were talking about it. Jane is forced to admit she was part of the "conspiracy" too and warns Paul to "turn it down a notch!" However Nicolette has a better one - suggesting that he goes home because he's "killing our vibe." Leo backs her up by telling Paul he's "out of line" and wants a word with his dad.
PAUL: Yes we do!
Number 22
As they return home to continue the discussion, Paul isn't amused that he was the last to hear about the plan.
Number 24
Now the guests have left, sarcastically Nicolette tells her mum how well Paul took the news! She then picks up that her mum doesn't appear too enthusiastic either and Jane's rationale is that they made the decision [to have a child] very quickly.
Number 22
Someone though is happy at the news - Elle, although its more because they are "keeping it the family!" Krista does point out that "families come in all shapes and sizes" which Paul agrees with… because it meant they "could have chosen anyone to extend your family with" which would appear it doesn't include Nicolette!
Number 24
"So the family tree gets a little bit tangled," is how Nicolette is summing things up, but knows too that "kids are adaptable." Jane still wishes that they'd taken a bit more time discussing it.
Number 22
When Paul hears that nobody has spoken to Aaron yet, he's using this as more ammunition against their plan. Leo reminds Paul that "this isn't a business deal" plus it isn't Aarons decision either.
Number 24
Nicolette moans that "everyone needs to butt out" of what they've decided because "the only people that this involves is me, Leo and Krista."
Erinsborough High School (next day)
A knackered Jane arrives for work with Wendy but doesn't want to say why she is tired, instead asking Wendy how things are with Andrew. Wendy reveals what she's come up with "to draw a line under the past" by having "a vow renewal." Jane thinks that is a lovely idea but their conversation is curtailed when the fire alarm unexpectedly goes off, so the pair immediately go to check the building out.
The 82
Since Shane turned the trio down, they are looking for other sources of funding and Colton warns them off approaching the Eirini residents!
It's a pity that Colton headed off to work moments before Taye hears the news that the prototypes are ready [in Canberra] as he could have taken Sadie's place as she doesn't look too enthusiastic about an overnight trip to the nation's capital city!
When Elle arrives at the tram, Taye susses her out if Paul would be interested in a new business venture (he might be) and Taye thinks the stars might just be aligning for them! Max wonders how Taye will get a meeting but he's already planning that.
Erinsborough High School
The fire alarm went off thanks to a toaster in the common room which puzzles Jane and Wendy as there appears to be nobody [else] in the building. Colton arrives to report that Eirini is all clear of smoke, then hears what caused the alarm and subsequently, all electrical appliances will now require testing. Jane is already fearful that this is a mammoth job and that not all of them will pass too. Suddenly the trio hear a door slam and wonder where that came from!
Number 22
Paul isn't too amused at being the last to hear about the baby plan and asks for Terese's advice on what he should do. Her advice is to "sit back and let it all unfold" rather than be not smart and "pull a Paul Robinson" where "all hell will break loose!"
TERESE: So, be smart!
Zac asks if it is even a big deal and thought already that they were co- parenting since the girls are always together. Paul's reply is Zac doesn't understand the complexities of the situation and subsequently, his input is "neither necessary nor welcome!" This earns him a rebuke from Terese and Paul does apologise, adding he's "not in a great mood" which Zac interprets as time to disappear quickly!
PAUL: I really am worried Terese.
She knows that but tries to explain that it is "their lives" and they need to "let them live it."
Lassiters hotel (Krista's office)
Leo drops by after dropping Abby off at school and reports that neither girl picked up on what was happening the previous night. After being asked, Krista hasn't changed her mind about their plans, even if it is a "giant leap into the unknown." She then asks him if he's changed his mind, especially given what happened after the girls were born, but he is more than up for it.
The Waterhole
Taye's plan is to ambush Paul in the bar but Jane gets there first to have a go at him for being out of line the previous night. Even though she is forced to reveal her concerns, Jane does point out that "they're going to go ahead whether we like it or not."
The pair don't look amused when Taye walks over and just stands there initially, not saying a word. Eventually after Paul asks if they can help, Taye uses this as a way to talk to them about their product. However, he finds a bonus potential investor too when Karl has the misfortune to wrongly time his arrival in the bar!
Number 26
Over lunch, Wendy is telling Sadie about door slamming mystery at the school (Wendy investigated it but found nobody) but she isn't exactly interested in it. However, when Wendy tells Sadie about her vow renewal plan, she thinks it is a good idea but questions the timing giving it isn't a significant anniversary year. Wendy feels the need to do this, but is quick to reassure her daughter that things are fine, she just feels it would be nice to do something and "mark a new chapter." In answer to Sadie's question, no she hasn't told Andrew but plans on doing that with "a visual presentation."
The Waterhole
Despite the pitch, and the offer to be a part- investor if the $25,00 is too much for one person, it's a no deal from Jane, Karl and Paul!
Harolds café
Nicolette did wonder when Paul would come visit her, so his arrival isn't too surprising. He wants to know what her angle is (she doesn't have one) so points out that Krista and Leo don't need her "brand of chaos" but her immediate comeback is "they need someone to have their baby!" Paul does seem taken aback to hear that this (apparently) has been a "hot topic" for Leo and Krista for a "quite a long time" and she uses this to rub it in that they obviously don't trust him enough "to tell you what's going on in their lives!" His comeback is that he's been overseas, so Nicolette goes for the jugular by adding that Terese obviously didn't tell him either!
NICOLETTE: I think that says a lot more about you than any of us.
PAUL: I will never stop protecting my family.
NICOLETTE: Is that what you're doing Paul? Because the way that I see it, you're tyring to ruin a perfect solution to what is a very complicated problem. And I'm sure that's how Kirsta and Leo see it too.
Lassiters hotel foyer
Zac is bemused to find a tennis ball suddenly roll into the lift but nobody is around to claim it although [the newly arrived] Colton suggests it could be the kids he saw playing outside. He still doesn't look satisfied at the explanation but takes it before asking why Colton is at the hotel - he wants them to go for a walk. Zac is quick to turn the offer down and once he moves away from Colton, the lad looks worried!
Lassiters Rotunda
Nicolette meets up with Kirsta and Leo to discuss how they progress with their plan… that is once she gives the pair a huge hug!
Lassiters Complex
The hug has been witness by Paul and Elle too, and on seeing his face, remarks that he's got his "scheme face" on and an alert should be issued! Paul denies he is scheming, he's just thinking which causes Elle great hilarity since [for him] there isn't a difference between the two! Paul tells her about the meeting he had with Nicolette and Elle concedes that he's "allowed to have reservations" and admits she has too, based on what she's seen of Nicolette.
ELLE: But it's not our call.
PAUL: No. No, it isn't. You'd think I would've learned by now, that I can't control my kids' lives.
Giving her dad a hug, Elle jokes that he "will never learn" before quickly adding that they "do love you for it…sometimes!" Joking aside, she acknowledges that she wasn't here "when all the other stuff went down," but she knows [out of it] he has "two beautiful granddaughters" and suggests that "maybe it could all work out again?"
Lassiters hotel (Zac's office)
The tennis ball incident has thrown Zac and he googles his name alongside the phrase 'tennis coach' and looks almost relived that nothing comes up other than his connection to Lassiters hotel and his mum.
Erinsborough High School
Wendy is clearing up to head home when she spots a pupil's locker is open. She heads outside her classroom to investigate and finds a pillow in it. Wendy yells out "is someone there?" but is met with silence.
Outside Eirini/EHS
We see some young girl rake through one of the industrial wheelie bins. Thanks to the credits, we know that the lassie's name is Addison.
Penthouse suite
The trio are finalising what their plans will be (Nicolette will use an app to monitor her cycle before making an appointment at the hospital) when Paul and Terese arrive.
Paul is quick to get in that he isn't there to start an argument but to give the trio an apology. He admits he'd no right to tell them how to run their lives, even if he is concerned about their plans, before going on to say that he has his blessing.
NICOLETTE: I wasn't aware we needed it!
Paul then apologises to Nicolette for how he spoke to her, admitting that he isn't in position to judge. At her edging for him to continue, he then praises her on how incredible Isla is and on the traits that mother/daughter share - dogged determination, a wry sense of humour and moxie.
PAUL: To be honest, if I ended up with another grandchild with those traits, I think I'd be pretty happy.
Tentatively, Paul asks if he's forgiven and he looks very relieved when Leo replies that he is but it comes with a warning - they won't stand for any more carries on from him. "Understood," Paul replies back with and even Terese thinks it's a "fair warning."
Outside Eirini Rising/EHS
Addison is raking in the bin but quickly hides herself when Wendy comes out of the school.
After Wendy ends her call with Sadie, she again feels like someone is nearby and calls out. She spots that the industrial bin is unlocked and just as she goes to padlock it up, Addison quickly forces the lid up in a bit to escape… however the lid has firmly caught Wendy under her chin and sends her flying backwards onto the ground and she is out for the count!
