The City™
Andrew is sitting on the steps of Victoria's parliament building looking pensive. Holly approaches.
HOLLY: Fancy seeing you here.
ANDREW: We said that we're in this.
HOLLY: I was thinking that we could go for a romantic walk around the city.
ANDREW (nervous laugh): Yeah, right.
HOLLY: We're not gonna see anyone we know.
ANDREW: Yeah. Guess that is unlikely. But it's not impossible.
HOLLY: We won't. Let's just pretend like we're total strangers meeting for the first time.
ANDREW: If only.
HOLLY: Well, technically this is our first date. And you only get one first date.
Holly walks away, and then comes back again and introduces herself. They shake hands, saying it's great to meet one another, and laugh.
Harold's Lakeside
Nell tells Terese that Toadie is coming to pick her up tomorrow to take her back to Colac. Terese wants to make sure that Nell isn't leaving because of Paul's plans to spend more time in New York. But Nell says no - she's ready to go back to her family.
TERESE: Well, that makes one of us.
Terese says she's going to miss their morning together, and asks Nell to let her know if there's anyone else she wants to invite to her farewell barbecue. Nell says the only other person is JJ, but that he's still ignoring her messages; he doesn't actually know she's leaving, as she didn't want to break the news by text.
At this point, Cara and JJ appear, out for a stroll, and Terese suggests Nell try talking to him now. But JJ sees her and bolts, leaving Nell disappointed. She exchanges a wave with Cara, who then grabs a table for herself on the terrace.
Nicolette comes out, and Cara orders her usual, plus 'one of those custardy croissant thingies'.
NICOLETTE: Oh. You only usually order those when you're sad.
CARA: Yeah. You know how I told Remi about... you having feelings for me? (...) She said that if I wanted to go for it with you, or anyone... I should.
Nicolette isn't sure how to respond to this!
Erinsborough High School
Jane pesters some girls to get to class now that the bell's gone, including Nell, who she tells that the rules apply even though it's her second last day. JJ is nearby at the lockers, and overhears this.
JJ: So you're leaving?
NELL: I have been trying to tell you, but you've been ignoring all my messages. I'm going to Colac.
JJ: Right, well, yeah. I guess that's none of my business then, really.
JJ walks off angrily. Max shows up with a trolley- load of junk from the garage; it's for an art class he's assisting Wendy with, involving turning scrap into sculptures.
JANE: That's wonderful. Giving something old new life again.
WENDY: Yeah. Not giving up on it just because it's a bit worn out.
The City™
We cut rather pointedly to Andrew and Holly, who are randomly kicking piles of leaves about on some grass. Continuing the 'first date' theme, they make small talk as they continue their walk around the city, discussing who they would invite to dinner out of everyone in the world. Holly tells Andrew about a mental health podcast she's been listening to which focuses on 'vulnerability and resilience'; she'd invite the host of that. Andrew responds that he loves how smart and gorgeous Holly is. He wonders what she sees in him.
HOLLY: Are you kidding? You're the kindest, smartest, hottest person that I've ever met. I mean, the fact that you're interested in me, it's...
ANDREW: You... Put it this way. If I could take anyone in the world to dinner, I'd take you.
Holly prepares to ask another question, but Andrew says it's his turn.
ANDREW: What do you think about... kissing on a first date?
She just smiles in response, and they kiss.

Remi is relaxing on a hammock in the Kennedys' back yard when Nicolette shows up to have a go at her.
NICOLETTE: I know that your memory's shot, but surely you haven't forgotten how to read a room?
REMI: I'm sorry?
NICOLETTE: Cara! You really hurt her with what you said.
REMI: That was not my intention.
NICOLETTE: It was a big deal when you said you wanted to remember her.
REMI: Yes, it was a big deal for me, too.
NICOLETTE: Well, it's like you've taken a step backward, telling her to play the field!
REMI: That's actually not what I said.
NICOLETTE: Well, that's how she took it.
REMI: Am I really having this conversation with *you*?
NICOLETTE: Yeah.
Remi explains that when she saw Nicolette and Cara together, it struck her that Cara should know she has 'options'.
NICOLETTE: She doesn't want options!
REMI: Maybe not today. But if I don't get my memory back - if I don't remember her - she should know that she can move on.
NICOLETTE: For the record, she has no interest in me whatsoever.
REMI: Noted.
NICOLETTE: and for that matter, she doesn't want anyone else either. She just... she wants you, you, you.
REMI: Also noted.
NICOLETTE: Just make things right.
Nic strops off.

Wendy and Max's junk sculpture class is underway, with a load of pupils wearing protective headgear as they hammer lumps of scrap metal together. The only student here of any note is JJ, who is in a *very* bad mood and is hitting his pieces of junk very hard with a hammer. Wendy asks him if some modelling wire would help.
JJ: No, they're supposed to fit together.
Wendy jumps as he continues to whack the metal violently!
The City™
Andrew and Holly continue to make small talk as they sit huddled together under a large tree in a park. He is telling her a story about how he appointed himself seatbelt monitor to make sure everyone was wearing their seatbelts when he was a young child.
HOLLY: I love it. You're so solidly... you. You meant it when you said you wanted to protect me from Bowman.
ANDREW: So did you, when you saved me from Phil. No one else came looking for me.
HOLLY: I feel like everything's okay when I'm with you. I wish we could just freeze time.
ANDREW: Yeah. I'd stay in this moment.
They gaze lovingly at each other, before the mood turns sombre.
HOLLY: Guess we should have that talk now, huh?
ANDREW: Yeah.

Remi comes to see Cara, and tells her about her visit from Nicolette. Cara looks worried.
REMI: She actually helped me see your perspective. I'm really sorry; hurting you was not my intention. Truth is, my memory might not return - that's all I was trying to say.
CARA: Yeah, I know that.
REMI: I just wanted to give my blessing, should you want to move on.
CARA: I *don't* want that. But thank you. I get that it was meant to be a caring gesture.
REMI: It was trying to be.
CARA: Oh, unless... you're interested in someone, or...?
REMI: No.
Cara decides it's time to tell Remi about a work meeting she's had.
CARA: What do you remember about the Linwell brothers?
REMI: ...
Erinsborough High School
The sculpture class continues. Max has noticed that JJ is struggling, and suggests to Wendy that he could have a word with him. She thinks it's a good idea, so Max offers a friendly ear to JJ and takes him outside for a chat.
JJ: Just don't tell me I'm not allowed to feel bad, cos today really sucks.
He explains about Nell moving back to Colac, and is upset that he was the last to know. Max suggests Nell perhaps just needs a reset - it's hard going from being a couple to being friends, but it's possible.
MAX: I mean, look at Holly and me.
JJ (sarcastic): What, you and Holly who are... who are dating?
MAX: We weren't always. I mean, we hated each other at first, and then we were friends...
JJ: Then dating. Happily ever after.
MAX: Man, we've had our ups and downs. And it's actually kind of weird with us at the moment.
JJ: Right, but you're still a *couple* at the moment, right? Like, Nell just broke up with me, and now she's leaving.
Max keeps trying, but fed up of the pep talk, JJ heads back into class.
V Bar
Andrew and Holly are in their favourite haunt for a serious chat.
HOLLY: All that I've wanted is someone kind and patient. Max should be perfect, but...
ANDREW: Yeah, well. I know you've tried your best with him.
HOLLY: Problem is that he isn't you. So, umm... what's going on with Wendy?
ANDREW: I care about her so much. That will never change. We've just got so many problems. The magic is gone. It's not like you and me. I guess I just... I don't know what us being together looks like.
HOLLY: Well, first, I have to break up with Max.
ANDREW: I don't want you to rush into anything.
HOLLY: I'm not, I promise. Do you know what you want to do?
He hesitates for a long time.
ANDREW: You know the other day? When you said that you were falling, and... and I...
HOLLY: That was way too much. Too quickly. Classic.
ANDREW: This whole thing is just such a whirlwind. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Did you mean it? What you said?
HOLLY: If I'm being completely honest, yeah. I'm in love with you.
ANDREW: I love you too.
They both laugh, and hold hands.
ANDREW: If this is the case, then... ending my marriage is the only thing to do.
Shortly afterwards, the talk continues. Holly is worried that Karl and Susan will think she's following in her mum's footsteps, and that Sadie will hate her.
ANDREW: We just need to do things the kindest way possible. Minimise the damage.
HOLLY: You think we can?
ANDREW: I'll do anything to make this easier for Wendy and Sadie.
HOLLY: Same. I just want to protect them. But how?
ANDREW: Do things step by step. Slowly move out of the relationship that we're in, without blindsiding anyone.
HOLLY: And then give things some time to settle down?
ANDREW: Then we can be together. It'd be a new thing. Sort of like a rebound. I don't want to lie - this is already killing me - but the truth, that's just going to hurt Wendy so much more.
HOLLY: So, what, this is gonna take, like, months?
ANDREW: To do things in the least painful way, yeah. But I think we're worth waiting for. Don't you?
HOLLY: Yeah.

Remi seems to remember the Linwell brothers, including the powder they sent them in the mail. Cara says the Linwells terrorised them because of her, which is why she's now taking on this case; she doesn't want them or their associates anywhere near their family again. Now, the brothers - who we learn are Dale and Eric - are up for parole.
CARA: But if I can prove that they're up to their old tricks, then they're not gonna get out.
REMI: I mean, be careful.
CARA: (smiles)
REMI: ... The, uh... the boys, they need you.
CARA: Yeah, well. This is for them.
V Bar
Holly tells Andrew she'll follow his lead as regards Wendy, but says she really doesn't want to drag things out with Max, and proposes ending things with him tonight. Andrew gets a call on his mobile, but ignores it.
HOLLY: He knows that things aren't right between us.
ANDREW: Yeah, look, it feels a bit quick. I just don't want to do anything kneejerk.
HOLLY: It's not. I mean, no one would be surprised.
ANDREW: We've still got to be careful. Aaron and Rhett found us out. I don't want to take any more chances.
HOLLY: Okay. I can wait a bit longer.
ANDREW: And I think that we probably should avoid messaging each other and calling each other. Let's just be patient.
They hold hands and move closer.
Harold's Lakeside / The City™
Cara thanks Nicolette for whatever she said to Remi.
NICOLETTE (archly): Hey, what are friends for?
CARA: God, you really are one of a kind, you know that?
NICOLETTE: Oh, yeah!
Cara gets a call from Rhett, who it seems has been doing some digging via his estate agent contacts on the Linwells for her. He tells her about a warehouse, though we don't hear what he's saying. Cara tells Rhett she'll 'have a look', and asks Rhett to say hi to Aaron for her.
Cara spots Sadie sitting nearby, and asks her if Andrew is home. Sadie says he went fishing! She suggests Cara try calling him.
Meanwhile in the city, Andrew and Holly have left V Bar and are wandering along the river. Holly is glad they're agreed on where their relationship is going from here. Andrew gets another phone call - it's Cara, but he says he'll call her on the way back. Holly suddenly realises she's lost one of the expensive earrings that Max bought her.
Holly wants to go back and look for it. She knows she had it at V Bar, as she saw it in the bathroom mirror - so it must be nearby. But Andrew points out that it's getting late - they might have to leave it. Holly is worried Max will know something is up if she goes back without it, as she said she was running errands today and wouldn't have worn the earrings for that.
Andrew agrees to stay and help look, but says they need to be quick. He gets another phone call from Cara, and answers it this time. Cara tells him she wants to check out a warehouse out near Waratah Heights owned by Bill Dehnam, who is the uncle of Ricky Dehnam, the Linwells' associate. Cara asks if Andrew would be prepared to meet her at the warehouse to investigate.
ANDREW: What are you hoping to find?
CARA: Well, it's been vacant for months, there's no tenants - but who knows, maybe there's some activity.
Andrew tells Cara he'll head back to his place and take a shower, then join her. Cara is eager to go now, as she's been told she needs to investigate in her own time and she's on a coffee break - but Andrew says there's no rush if the place has been empty for months. He tells her they can talk about it when he gets back. He and Holly go to look for the earring.
Meanwhile, Cara airs her frustrations to Nicolette about Andrew not being in a rush to check out the warehouse; she's convinced it's 'suss'. Nic says she'd come with her, but has to work.
CARA: It's not that big a deal if I go on my own, is it?
Erinsborough High School
Nell begs JJ to talk to her. She says she's been trying to tell him about moving to Colac ever since she made the decision - it just feels right to move back with her family.
NELL: But of course I'm going to miss you... I miss you already.
JJ: ...
NELL: I have a farewell barbecue this afternoon, if you want to come, and say goodbye?
JJ: Are you serious? Nell, do you remember what we went through just to be together? Like, I genuinely thought that we could work through anything. But you... you didn't even try to fix us. Like, I... I loved you, Nell. You... you just dumped me!
NELL (crying): JJ...
JJ: You know what? The only reason you're inviting me to this is to make yourself feel better.
NELL: That is not -JJ: And as if I would want to come to a party to celebrate us being over.
NELL: That is not what I meant at all, JJ!
JJ: What, so you didn't think? Nice.
NELL: Scratch the barbecue. We could just do something else. Maybe -
JJ: Hey, you know what? You do whatever you want. You will anyway.
Nell looks devastated as JJ walks away.
Waratah Heights
Cara arrives at Bill Dehnam's warehouse. There is a sign on the door saying 'demolition work in progress' but she ignores that and lets herself in. Ominous music plays as she walks around inside. There seem to be various cars here, which she takes photos of - one of which has a number plate lying on the front seat. She opens the boot, and finds... a bag full of guns!
At this point, a man - who the credits tell us is Ricky Dehnam - walks into the warehouse. Cara hides, looking scared...
