- At the jewellery expo, talk of wedding rings appears to prompt a memory in Remi of Cara's proposal to her
The Waterhole
Cara grills Remi about the memory that appears to have surfaced - she remembers the engagement ring, the farmers' market where the proposal happened, and what Cara said to her when she proposed - which surely means she must remember Cara?
REMI: I guess...
She says she remembers Cara was wearing orange, but nothing else. Cara says that's still progress, and decides to keep talking about the day in question in the hope that it will prompt Remi to remember more. But Remi is looking very overwhelmed by all this, and asks if they can stop. She suggests they catch up later, and then hurries off. Nonetheless, Cara looks elated by the apparent progress.
Lassiter's Complex
Remi still looks stressed and overwhelmed as she exits the pub. Nearby, Taye and Max are chatting as they walk towards the complex. Taye has decided to break up with his fake girlfriend 'Belinda' next week, and is telling Max all about it. Taye heads off to work - since the Bronze Bell judges and Johan the expo director, who are not in the episode, are nonetheless still apparently on site and in need of being schmoozed.
Max heads towards the drinks van, where Holly is closing up; he wonders if she wants to do something this evening. Holly doesn't look hugely enthusiastic, but they agree to check out the jewellery expo.
No 26
Andrew is looking lost in thought as Wendy asks his advice over which earrings she should wear to the announcement of the amateur jewellery competition results. He suggests one of each pair, which Wendy thinks is a great idea! We learn that the winner will receive a $1,000 gift voucher, and the runner- up $500. Wendy thinks she's in with a good chance, based on how many 'likes' she's been accruing on social media.
Andrew tries his best to look engaged and interested.
No 24
Isla is doing some colouring while Nicolette and Jane discuss Aaron's farewell party. Nicolette sends Isla out of the room to see what Aaron's up to. Jane and Nic reflect that they've made the right decision in telling Aaron to move to Adelaide, even though they don't want him to leave.
JANE: Though I can't help but wonder if you were ever going to tell him your plans?
NICOLETTE: Oh, it wasn't really a plan, Mum.
JANE: Okay, well, a hope. I think he would've been flattered.
NICOLETTE: Yeah, or it would've just thrown an unnecessary spanner in the works. 'Hey, I'm glad you're moving to Adelaide, but I really wish you would've stayed so we could've figured out a way to grow our family!'
But unbeknownst to Jane and Nicolette, Isla has run back in and been listening to this. Sure enough, when Aaron himself walks in, Isla announces to him that Nicolette wants to grow their family! Rather than sticking around to discuss it like adults, Nicolette and Jane hurry out of the house at the speed of light, leaving Aaron looking perturbed. He asks Isla to repeat exactly what Nicolette said...

Remi is looking emotional as she fiddles with an orange, presumably reminding her of the engagement ring fashioned from one that Cara proposed with. Karl comes in, and explains that Sam Kratz will be here soon to pick up his things before leaving with Annalise - they're headed to Lorne before going back to the UK to tie up loose ends there. Remi tells Karl about remembering Cara's proposal.
REMI: I can see it all in my mind's eye. What she said, what she was wearing...
KARL: Anything more?
REMI: No, not for now.
KARL: Well, that's something. And it's a good thing, right?
REMI: You should've seen her face light up when it happened. I could tell she was so hopeful.
KARL: I'm sure she understands you might not remember anything more... You do *want* to remember, don't you?
REMI: I do. Yeah, I do. I think. It's just, the last few weeks have become the new normal. Is it wrong I'm also scared to remember?
KARL: No. No, not at all. I think once your nerves settle, ultimately you'll want your old life back.
Remi nods, but doesn't look altogether sure.
Harold's Café
Cara is telling Nicolette, JJ and Dex about Remi's apparent memory breakthrough. Nicolette wonders if she might have seen a photograph of the moment and confused that for a memory.
CARA: There's no photos of it. It was BSP.
JJ: She means 'before smartphones'.
JJ is hopeful that more memories will come back in time now the process has begun. But Dex remains quiet and looks concerned. Cara reassures him that they'll be patient; Remi's feeling under pressure right now, so they'll take things as they come. Nicolette offers Dex a cookie to cheer him up, which prompts a strained smile, but he still looks concerned.
Lassiter's Complex
The expo is still underway, and Holly is admiring some heart-shaped earrings, but tells Max she could only afford them 'in my dreams'. He agrees they're expensive. Andrew and Wendy approach, and Wendy gushes over Holly, calling her 'my favourite model'. Wendy wants to line up another photoshoot with Andrew, Holly and her homemade jewellery. Neither Andrew nor Holly seem pleased at this idea.

Wendy and Andrew hurry off to catch the announcement of the competition results. Holly decides she and Max should go and pay Taye a visit at the Piano Bar instead. But at this point, Aaron - who is all suited up to announce the competition results - calls Holly over, requesting her help with counting the votes. For some reason Jane, who is already on the wine, also appears to enforce this request!
HOLLY (strained): Guess we're staying!
Andrew and Holly exchange a worried glance as she passes him to join Aaron.
Harold's Café
Taye and Sadie are slagging off Paul, who we hear has been ultra- schmoozing with the Bronze Bell judges in a manner Taye likens to 'a gull on a hot chip'. He then does an impression of said gull, amusing Sadie. She asks if his girlfriend 'Belinda' is coming to the jewellery expo. Taye looks briefly nervous but then confirms he and Belinda will be doing the treasure hunt together later.
SADIE: Wow! What does this girl have that's got you on the hook?
TAYE: She's fun, beautiful...
SADIE: Tell me more.
But Taye makes an excuse to end the conversation by going to order them drinks. Nearby, Cara is peeling an orange with which she hopes to stage a reconstruction of her proposal to Remi. JJ, Dex and Nicolette are still with her. But Dex is still a bit subdued, and now we learn why.
DEX: Do you remember my Year Eight assignment? We had to make a stop- motion of our family. I did your proposal to Ma.
JJ: Yeah, I remember. It took, like, ten hours to get five seconds of video.
We close in on Cara, who is already beginning to realise what Dex is saying.
DEX: I had you and Ma do the voices. We even had an orange peel ring.
CARA: Yeah, we put it on the end of a toothpick.
DEX: Yeah... what if that's what she's remembering now?
NICOLETTE: Oh, mate...
CARA (sadly): We have to tell Remi.
Lassiter's Complex
Aaron and Holly have checked and triple- checked the results of the jewellery competition. Wendy is very nervous as she stands awaiting the result with Andrew and an increasingly merry Jane!
AARON (microphone): So, the runner up of the Lassiter's Amateur Jewellery Competition... is Wendy Rodwell.
Wendy shrieks excitedly and runs over to collect her prize. Holly hands it to her, rather stony- faced! Wendy rushes back over and hugs Andrew, getting a congratulatory kiss from him. Holly looks jealous. Aaron then announces that the winner is Sharon Lopez, but we don't get to see her because we are too focused on Holly making a slow- motion exit. Both Aaron and Andrew notice this and look worried.
As she reaches the edge of the courtyard, Holly is confronted by Max coming the other way. He has a present for her, which he tells her to open. It's the earrings she liked. But they don't have the desired effect!
HOLLY: I can't accept these. I can't.
She thrusts them back into his hands and rushes away. Both Max and Andrew look worried.
No 28
Karl and Remi are roleplaying Cara's proposal. Karl is wearing an orange shirt and explains that he isn't Cara (!) but that nonetheless it might help Remi to remember. At this point, Cara and Dex come in, intending to explain that Remi's memories might be of Dex's school project, rather than the proposal itself. But when Cara sees how hard Remi is trying to remember, she quietly tells Dex that they'll tell Remi that part later.
Karl steps aside so that Cara can play herself in the reconstruction. Dex looks worried. Cara says she doesn't have anything orange to wear.
KARL: Are you asking for the shirt off my back?
Lassiter's Lake/Complex
Andrew has followed Holly into the bushes for a private chat, wanting to check that she's okay. Holly says that she isn't.
HOLLY: You're all over Wendy, Max is buying me jewellery that he can't afford...
ANDREW: Yeah, this is why we need to avoid each other.
Unbeknownst to them, Aaron is watching them from the other side of the lake, concerned to see them at close quarters again. He moves closer to get a better look.
HOLLY: Look, this is really hard for me! I don't understand how it's easy for you.
ANDREW: It's not.
HOLLY: I miss you. I want to see you; I want to talk to you. I can't stop thinking about you. I think about that night... don't you think about me?
ANDREW: Yeah, I can't stop.
HOLLY: Okay, well, we need to find a time. We need to talk about this.
Andrew agrees, and proposes meeting in the city; he'll tell Wendy he's got to work, if she can come up with an excuse to Max. Holly nods in agreement.
Meanwhile, Max is telling Wendy and Aaron that Holly's gone home with a headache to lie down; he says she's had a few of them lately.
WENDY: You say that like you don't believe her?
MAX: She was fine before. I dunno, I think the earrings freaked her out. Too big of a gesture.
Andrew reappears and Aaron looks disapproving. Wendy admits Holly hasn't been herself lately, recalling that she was 'pretty stiff' at the photoshoot with Andrew. Andrew plays it down, saying it wasn't a natural environment - and then announces that his boss has called him in to work to do a surveillance job for a couple of hours. Aaron looks suspicious as Andrew leaves. Wendy reassures Max that Holly will be fine.
A tipsy Jane breaks the sombre mood by appearing with another of bottle of wine, and calls Wendy over to help her drink it! Wendy rushes off to join her.
AARON (to Max): You're really worried about Holly, aren't you?
MAX: Yeah. Holly's just not Holly at the moment.
Aaron watches with concern as, in the distance, Andrew gets into his car...
Ramsay Street
Nicolette arrives home and sees Dex leaving the Kennedys'. She asks how things are going with Remi and Cara.
DEX: Mum decided not to tell Ma.
NICOLETTE: Oh...
DEX: They're all in there just trying to jog her memory.
Dex heads home, clearly uncomfortable with the situation at No 28. Nicolette looks thoughtful. At this point, Aaron arrives home.
NICOLETTE: I guess Isla told you everything earlier?
AARON: Yeah, I got the gist of it.
NICOLETTE: Have I made things awkward?
AARON: No, Nic! Never. I've told you once before - I'd love to find a way to have another kid with you.
NICOLETTE: You know, you've... been my husband in pretty much every sense of the word.
AARON: What do you mean 'been'? We're not breaking up. We're just changing the shape of our family.
NICOLETTE: I just can't imagine doing it with anyone else, and... I don't want to.
AARON: You never know. You never know what's on the horizon - or who.
NICOLETTE: I guess you and Rhett might think about doing your own thing, too.
AARON: Maybe. Who knows?
NICOLETTE: Well, keep me as a backup option.
AARON: If you need it, but... you know I can't be a donor, so you'll need to find someone else either way. But hey, Nic - I am so glad that you're thinking of the next chapter.
NICOLETTE: I'm glad that you are, too.
They smile at one another. At this point, Holly comes out of No 28 and gets into her car. Aaron tells Nic he's remembered something he needs to do, and asks if he can borrow her car. Nic agrees, but reminds him they need to discuss the guest list for his farewell party.
AARON: Just keep it to the street. That's everyone who matters.
He gets into the car...
Harold's Café
Max is telling Sadie about his woes with Holly, as he gazes forlornly at the declined earrings. Sadie reminds him that Holly has been through a lot and is probably just stressed. Max asks if Holly's said anything to Sadie about him. But Sadie doesn't think it's about Max, and says their relationship is solid.
Taye comes in, and gives Sadie a report on Wendy's sobriety or lack thereof - apparently she's about to dance on a table! Max tells Sadie she should go and celebrate her mum's win, but Sadie says she'd rather be here with him. She then asks Taye why he isn't with Belinda. He claims they've already done the treasure hunt before his work shift, and then hurries off.
SADIE: I know Taye's in his Belinda bubble, but you should talk to him as well. You know, we all want to be here for you.
MAX: Yeah, thanks.
SADIE (curiously): Have you met her, by any chance? You know, cos I asked Taye for details, and he just got all weird, and...?
MAX: Umm...
SADIE: Max, come on. Why are *you* being weird now?
MAX: I'm - I'm not being weird.
SADIE: Yeah, you are. Come on, just tell me.
MAX: Umm, Belinda... doesn't exist.
Sadie looks surprised!
The Piano Bar
JJ is hanging out with Taye, who asks how Nell is getting on in Colac. JJ says Nell thinks it's exactly what she needs.
TAYE: Just make sure you and Dexie are taking care of yourselves, okay?
JJ: Yeah, absolutely.
JJ leaves as Sadie arrives, with mischief in her eyes.
SADIE: She's great, by the way.
TAYE: Who?
SADIE: Belinda! We just met. I saw this girl outside with dirt underneath her fingernails from the treasure hunt - so I offered her a mani, and your name comes up.
TAYE: ... It did?
SADIE: Mm. She said that you're the only mani that she needs. She's, like, really into you.
TAYE: She is? I mean... she is!
SADIE: Hmm. I think it's sweet that you guys are catching up again later.
TAYE: ... Right. Did she say what we were doing?
Sadie shakes her head innocently!
The City™
Aaron has apparently trailed Holly to central Melbourne and an area by the river (South Wharf Promenade), and watches her from a distance as she walks purposely towards her destination. He briefly loses sight of her, and then spots her again, standing by the river waiting...
No 24
Jane and Nicolette are discussing Aaron's farewell party again, and have been joined by Wendy, who is now getting towards Jane levels of tipsy! Jane makes a quip about Marie Antoinette and protein balls, then laughs heartily at her own joke. She admits she's very sad about Aaron leaving, which makes Wendy sad too.
NICOLETTE: You two are tragic.
Jane asks if Nic spoke to Aaron about the conversation Isla overheard. Nic confirms they did and says it's all fine. Wendy wants more details but Nic tells her it's nothing for her to worry about. Wendy looks peeved!
Remi comes in with some supplies for the party courtesy of Susan, which Jane is so drunk she's forgotten she asked for! Remi reports that no more memories have come back to her, but that they did have fun recreating the proposal. Nicolette forces a smile, and then shoos Jane and Wendy into the sunroom with the party supplies so she can talk to Remi alone.
WENDY (leaving): Choo- choo!
NICOLETTE: So, how are you feeling?
REMI: About this old head of mine? Good. Optimistic.
Nicolette opts to do the whole 'pretending she thought Remi already knew the secret' thing.
NICOLETTE: Yeah. I mean, just because Dex recreated the whole thing as an assignment, doesn't mean that it was a false recollection!
REMI: ... Hang on, what?
Nicolette prepares her 'Oh, you didn't know?' face.
The City&tm;
Aaron is still watching Holly from the side of a building at the promenade. He sees her talk to someone on her phone to determine their whereabouts, and then sure enough, Andrew appears, putting away his own phone now they've spotted one another. Unseen by the pair, Aaron looks concerned.
ANDREW: Hey.
HOLLY: I know I'm not supposed to do this, but I have to.
She gives Andrew a hug, which he willingly reciprocates. Aaron looks even more worried...
