- They pile all the stock from the foundation shop in the courtyard to embarrass Paul in front of his client
Lassiter's Complex
The stock, packing boxes and mannequins from the Sonya Foundation are still cluttering up the courtyard. Sam looks to be having a very serious conversation about it with a staff member extra. Paul is with Taye, Terese, Nicolette (in her heavily customised hotel uniform!) and Nell.
PAUL (to Nell): I know that you are unhappy about the foundation. But I can't believe that you would be so vindictive.
TERESE: Paul!
PAUL: You chose a time you knew would do the worst possible damage to Lassiter's. I mean, do you want us to lose the expo?
NELL: No.
NICOLETTE: Nell was making a stand.
PAUL: Oh, I see. So in other words, this was your little idea, was it? Anybody else involved in this stunt?
Taye looks awkward but says nothing.
NICOLETTE: You can't treat people like this. I know that the expo and your little Bronze Bell are very important, but so are we.
Annalise appears, and reports that Krista has taken Johan, the jewellery expo director, up to the office.
PAUL (to Nicolette): Great. Thanks to you, we now have to go into serious damage control. Oh, and by the way, you look ridiculous.
Nicolette drags Nell away.
TERESE: I told you this would blow up in your face.
Ramsay Street
JJ has been to see Remi at the Kennedys', and Susan says he's welcome any time. JJ hugs Remi, promising to see her tomorrow. Cara emerges from No 30, and Susan waves across at her. JJ then goes to join Cara, getting a hug from her too.
SUSAN: You think the space is working?
REMI: Yeah, it is. It's nice that Cara's respecting my wishes, but the boys are obviously struggling.
SUSAN: Well, you're all in uncharted waters.
REMI: I've been thinking about what you said, about getting my personal life in order. I think it would really help the boys if Cara and I were on better terms.
SUSAN: I wish you'd think about what *you* might gain from that, not just the boys (...) You and Cara have been together a very long time. Aren't you even a little bit curious about who you married?
Remi looks thoughtful.
Harold's Café
Terese comes to find Nell. Terese says she won't condone Paul's actions but admits she's really surprised at how far Nell went to get back at him. Nell admits that she surprised herself, too.
NELL: Paul has done so much for me, I know that. He gave us the foundation space for free - even my own exhibition not so long ago.
TERESE: Yeah, well, he is incredibly generous.
NELL: But that's why it hurts so much. I mean, I thought we were close - a tight little family - but it felt like he just dismissed my feelings entirely.
TERESE: Yeah, well, that's something else that he's capable of.
Nell asks if Terese and Paul are having issues, saying she's noticed them having hushed conversations lately. Terese says Paul has some plans for the future which affect her, but assures Nell they're not breaking up.
NELL: If you're not happy, maybe you should take a stand as well.
Lassiter's Complex
Paul tells Taye and another underling to put all the Sonya Foundation stock back in the shop. Annalise reports that Krista's damage control with Johan is going well; she's told him that the mess in the courtyard was 'the act of a disgruntled employee', and is shunting him off to the vineyard where Leo will ply him with a wine tour.
Annalise admits that Krista has now told her the history of the Sonya Foundation - she didn't realise that Nell was Toadie's daughter, and on having learned this, no longer thinks they should evict them. Paul says they can't allow themselves to be bullied by the staff. Terese interjects, saying this only happened because people felt disrespected. Terese drags Paul off for a private chat.
Lassiter's Hotel
In the office, Terese tells Paul that Nell is sorry for her part in making the mess. Paul is more concerned with Nicolette, and says he'd fire her if she wasn't Isla's mother.
Terese wants to talk about Paul's New York plans - she wants to know what he'll do if she doesn't agree to them. Paul says that if Terese isn't okay with his plans, then now is obviously the wrong time.
TERESE: Is it really that simple?
PAUL: I know you think that I am disrupting Krista and Annalise for sport, but... actually, yeah, their sparring is a very entertaining side effect... but honestly, the reason I haven't been upfront is you. There's absolutely no point in getting another manager if I'm not going anywhere, is there?
TERESE: You go about things in very unusual ways.
PAUL: Oh, haven't you heard? It's part of my charm.
Ramsay Street
Having imbibed Susan's sage advice, Remi approaches Cara in the street.
REMI: Everyone keeps telling me that we're really happily married.
CARA: Yeah.
REMI: I just don't remember any of that.
CARA: You've mentioned.
REMI: Well, if we got along before, we probably will again. And it would be easier if we got along. So... could we get to know each other again? Maybe have a no- pressure dinner? Maybe even tonight?
CARA (smiling): I'd love that. I'll cook.
REMI: Great.
Cara grins to herself as Remi walks off.
Lassiter's Lake
Annalise is moping around looking pensive. She looks through some photos on her phone from years long gone by - one of Lucy Robinson, one of Lucy with Beth Brennan, and one of her husband Sam Kratz. Annalise smiles wistfully as she looks at the last one. Krista shows up for a chat.
KRISTA: People keep telling me we should be friends.
ANNALISE: Ah, yes. Well, apparently, I am the nineties version of you.
KRISTA: Right, so you've heard that too.
ANNALISE: Mm- hm. Look, I'm... I'm sorry I undermined you.
KRISTA: I'm sorry that I wasn't more welcoming.
ANNALISE: You know, it was just...
BOTH: Paul.
ANNALISE: And, if I'm honest - look, I am a bit anxious, too. I missed out on a job down the coast a few months ago, and I'm just feeling the pressure to find another one. Oh, not that I'm trying to muscle my way in here. Not at all. Just want a good reference from Paul.
KRISTA: Why did the job fall through?
ANNALISE: Oh - it didn't. My husband Sam decided to call the hotel manager and tell her that I wasn't interested after all.
KRISTA: He sabotaged it for you?
ANNALISE: Yeah. He changed his mind on wanting to move back to Australia. And yeah, that was the catalyst for me ending things.
KRISTA: I'm sorry.
ANNALISE: Mm. Anyway, I guess Paul inviting me here - you could say that I had my own agenda.
KRISTA: Well, how does it feel being back?
ANNALISE: Strangely confronting! I dunno - I think when I lived here, I had my whole life ahead of me, you know? I had all these hopes and dreams... I guess I'm just not where I thought I'd be.
KRISTA: Right. Well, let us talk about this amazing new life that we're gonna create for you.
Harold's Café
Paul tells Nicolette to change out of the mutilated hotel uniform, but she says she likes it as she's been compared to a 'sexy air hostess'. Nell and Terese are here too, and Paul has good news for Nell - they've decided not to relocate the Sonya Foundation after all.
NICOLETTE: A win for the people!
Nell thanks Paul, and he apologises for having upset her. Nell apologises too for her role in Nicolette's revenge. Terese looks relieved at the ceasefire.
Lassiter's Lake
Annalise and Krista are still chatting; Annalise says she just wants 'a good job with good people'. Krista promises to help her put the feelers out. Annalise thanks her, and says she'd also welcome any ideas for the jewellery expo. Annalise recommends Sadie as a make- up artist for the event, and Annalise says they should hire her ASAP. Krista even offers to help Annalise get back into the dating world if she wants!
ANNALISE: Hmm, not so confident about that.
KRISTA: You just have to put yourself out there.
Krista spots Leo walking towards them, but Annalise doesn't see him, having been distracted by a call from Toadie, and she rushes off to take it. Krista gushes to Leo about the 'amazing chat' she's had with Annalise and how she thinks she's 'incredible' now.
LEO: She's like a nineties version of you!
KRISTA: Totally!
Yeah, guys, you keep telling yourselves that...!
No 30
The sunroom has been decked out for Cara and Remi's dinner, in the same paraphernalia that JJ and Dex once used to recreate their mums' first date. But Cara is cautious of going overboard this time, and blows out the romantic candles, telling the boys that she and Remi are just getting to know one another again.
DEX: We can still set the mood.
JJ: I mean, you have, actually. I can smell your 'don't you boys have somewhere to be?' perfume from, like, a mile away.
CARA: No, it's just perfume.
Remi turns up with Taye, and is impressed at the ambience in the sunroom. Taye then takes JJ and Dex off to his place to 'annihilate' them on a video game, leaving Cara and Remi alone. Remi says alcohol would help about now, but when Cara goes to pour her a glass of wine, she says she was joking - she isn't drinking due to her head injury. Cara apologises awkwardly, but Remi says it's on her. Their discomfort is palpable.
Harold's Café
Nell tells Terese and Paul that JJ has invited her over to Taye's place, so she heads off to join them. Terese tells Paul she appreciates what he said about not making any decisions on New York yet, but says she doesn't want to be the reason that he holds off telling Krista and Annalise about the possibility. Paul assures her it can wait a little longer, and asks her to trust him.
Susan comes in, and Paul quietly reminds Terese that she and Susan need to have a conversation about Eirini Rising not turning a profit. Terese had hoped to avoid this now Paul is loaning her money to get the finances back in order, but Paul says that Susan still needs to know, and could help Terese to get things back on track. Susan comes over to join them, and Terese says there's something they need to talk about...
No 32
Taye, JJ and Nell are playing a video game.
JJ: Can you stop slime- bombing me? Taye has so much magic moss you can steal too.
Taye sarcastically thanks Nell for dragging him into her revenge plot earlier, but adds that it was worth it to see the look on Paul's face. Nell asks JJ if he's heard anything from Remi or Cara about how their dinner is going.
JJ: Uhh... (shouting) Hey, Dex!
DEX: What?
JJ (shouting): Nell wants an update! How's the eavesdropping going?
Dex emerges from the garden, where he's been listening in on No 30 over the fence, but he hasn't been able to hear any of Cara and Remi's conversation. Taye says he knows that they're worried, but it's probably best to just leave Remi and Cara to it. JJ agrees, and Nell passes Dex a game controller, but he's too worried about his mums to focus on it right now.
Deciding Dex would have more luck putting it out of his head across the road than right next door, Nell decides to drag JJ and Dex over to her place.

In the sunroom, Remi tells Cara that dinner is delicious.
CARA: I hid the veggies in the sauce, just like you taught me.
REMI: I thought that was just for the kids.
CARA: Yeah, well - when we first met, I was still growing out of some of my teenage habits. You've been really good for me.
REMI: ... Tell me about yourself before we met. A quintessential Cara anecdote.
CARA: (...) Okay, well - when I was in high school, I ran this whole campaign to start a mixed football team. And all the teachers were like, 'Oh, you know, come on Cara, just play netball. What does it matter?' But I dunno. It mattered to me.
REMI: Did you get your team?
CARA: Yeah, I did. But I was the only girl who wanted to be on the team, and the boys really hated having me there. They were always trying to get me to quit.
REMI: Ah, but you don't seem like a quitter.
CARA: There was this one game - this absolute tool from Year 11, he dacked me to try and get me to drop the ball.
REMI: Did you?
CARA: No way. I just ditched the shorts and kicked a goal from the 50- metre line.
Remi raises a toast to that!
REMI: And what happened to your boy?
CARA: I dacked him back.
REMI (laughing): I thought you were gonna say he got detention!
Remi's almost crying with laughter. It almost feels like old times, and Cara looks wistful.
REMI: What?
CARA: Nothing. You just... you laughed the same way the first time I told you that story.
REMI: Well, it was good!
The Waterhole
Annalise is alone at the bar with a bottle of wine, looking at the same photos from the 90s as she was earlier. Leo comes in and notices she's dropped her purse. She goes to pick it up but she's a little worse for wear, so Leo steps in to stop her falling over. Leo knows who Annalise is having seen her from a distance earlier at the lake. Annalise doesn't know who he is, though he appears to think she ought to!
Annalise gets all wistful as she says Leo reminds her of someone - her ex (Sam Kratz).
ANNALISE: He had the same tall, dark, floppy hair thing.
Annalise recommends the wine, and asks if she can interest Leo in joining her...

Remi asks more questions about Cara, including her police career. Cara explains it's a recent move and that she was the hotel building manager when they first came here, and in construction before that. It occurs to Remi that Cara might have built the cubby at their home in Werribee, and Cara confirms she did.
REMI: I love Erinsborough, but I tell you what I miss about Werribee.
BOTH: The potato cakes at the Anglers.
Remi is amazed that Cara knew what she was going to say. Cara suggests they could take a drive down to Werribee with the boys and get some potato cakes. Remi is very much won over by this idea!
REMI: We could also go see if the new owners fixed the fence at my old... at *our* old house.
CARA: So you're keen?
REMI: Yeah. I want a potato cake!
Cara smiles.
The Waterhole
Leo has decided to stay and join Annalise for a glass of wine. Having moaned about her work life, she asks about his. Leo says, as if she should already know, that he owns a vineyard; he still seems to be under the misapprehension that Annalise knows he's Krista's husband. She suggests they order another bottle.
LEO: Oh, I probably shouldn't.
ANNALISE: Or we could... go back to my room and raid the minibar?
Leo looks very awkward.
ANNALISE: Sorry, that was way too forward of me. I don't even know your name.
LEO: I'm Leo. Krista's husband. Paul's son.
Annalise looks horrified.
ANNALISE: Oh. Oh, I am so sorry. I honestly had no idea.
LEO: It's okay.
ANNALISE: It's not okay.
LEO: I thought you knew.
ANNALISE: I've got to go.
LEO: Honestly, Annalise, it's fine.
But she rushes off, leaving Leo looking bemused.
Lassiter's Hotel
Krista is working late in her office when Leo comes in. Krista gushes about how she feels she's 'really turned a corner' with Annalise. Leo is just about to tell Krista about what happened in the pub, when Annalise herself comes in to pick up a work folder. Leo mentions they just met in the pub, but neither of them tell Krista that Annalise made a pass at him.
Krista suggests they all have dinner together soon and get to know each other better. She goes to collect the work folder Annalise needs from Paul's office. While she's gone...
ANNALISE: You didn't tell her?
LEO: Oh, forget about it. It was nothing.
Annalise looks relieved and embarrassed. But Leo is already wondering if he's done the right thing in keeping quiet...
No 30
Remi and Cara are still in the sunroom. It's Cara's turn to ask Remi a question.
CARA: What's this like for you? Having a brain injury? Not being able to trust your own memory.
REMI: It's terrible. Remembering things with absolute certainty and then being told that is not true.
CARA: It sounds exhausting.
REMI: It really is. And I can see that I'm hurting you and the boys every time I react like you're a stranger, and I hate myself for it, but I just...
CARA: It's okay. I know you're not doing it on purpose.
REMI (emotional): The way you are with Dexter and JJ - you're obviously an amazing mum.
CARA: Nah. They're amazing kids.
REMI: Don't downplay it. We've done a great job with them.
In the heightened emotion of the moment, Cara spontaneously moves in to kiss Remi. But Remi backs away immediately.
REMI: Are you serious?
CARA: Umm... I shouldn't have done that. Sorry.
REMI: I have to go.
Cara begs her to stay, but to no avail. Cara looks deeply regretful as she fiddles with her wedding ring...
