No 28
In the garden, Saskia is vandalising the Kennedys' greenhouse, when Dex turns up and catches her in the act! Dex saw her enter the garden from the street after the Kennedys left. Saskia claims she didn't notice them leaving and was looking for Susan.
SASKIA: She told me I wasn't getting any more shifts at Eirini Rising.
DEX: So you trashed her plants?
SASKIA: Well... I just knocked this one.
But Dex has noticed another broken plant pot across the garden. Saskia claims the rest were already like that!
SASKIA: Susan firing me came out of nowhere. I guess I took it bad. I was so upset, I wasn't thinking - and I was in a state and I knocked them over... I'm really embarrassed. Can you please not say anything?
DEX: Yeah. Yeah, okay.
SASKIA: Thank you.
But Dex looks very worried as Saskia leaves, and enters the greenhouse to inspect the damage.
Ramsay Street
Saskia returns to the street but is confronted by Susan and Karl coming back from their walk. Susan greets her but Saskia simply scowls by way of response, and heads back to No 32. Susan remarks that it seems she can hold a grudge.
KARL: She's very intense.
SUSAN: Well, that's putting it mildly.
Meanwhile Taye and Remi arrive; he's driven her home from the hospital. Remi is clearly nervous about living at No 30 with Cara, but says they've agreed to have separate rooms, and that it will mean a lot to JJ and Dex if she tries.
REMI: That's what being a mum is all about - compromise, right?
Cara and JJ come over to welcome Remi home; they're not sure where Dex has gone. Susan and Karl come over to welcome Remi back too, and say to let them know if she needs anything, as they understand what she's going through. Cara and Remi look at one another nervously.
Lassiter's Hotel
In Paul's office, Paul is talking to Terese and Krista about Remi's homecoming. Annalise comes in and moans about the local council not liking her treasure hunt idea for the jewellery expo; instead, the mayor wants something that the community can 'really be part of'.
ANNALISE: I mean, what does that even mean?
PAUL: Krista?
KRISTA: I thought it was my job to focus on the hotel, not the expo.
PAUL: Yeah it is, but I'd still like your thoughts.
KRISTA: Well, I'm not surprised. The treasure hunt is a paid promotion - it's not a community event.
Paul asks if Krista could come up with a better idea, and she says she'll try.
ANNALISE (strained): All ideas are welcome.
Terese shakes her head at Paul, who seems to be enjoying the Annalise/Krista tension far too much...
In the lobby, Krista promises to get back to Annalise soon about her event ideas and walks off, leaving Annalise with Terese.
ANNALISE: Well, so much for staying in our own lanes.
TERESE: Oh, that was all Paul.
ANNALISE: Still, she couldn't wait to pooh- pooh my idea.
Terese doesn't think that was the case. She has to go, but advises Annalise to keep an open mind about Krista. But immediately afterwards, Annalise overhears Krista moaning to Wendy that she now has to come up with an amazing event idea. Wendy spots Annalise watching them and waves at her! Krista tells Wendy not to look over, as Annalise will know they're talking about her.
WENDY: Oh, no, it's just she reminds me of someone... Oh, it's you, actually!
Krista asks if she can bounce some ideas off Wendy for the community event, but Wendy has to go and meet Sadie at the uni. Wendy rushes off, but has dropped one of her homemade earrings. Krista picks it up and shouts after Wendy, but she's already gone. Krista looks at the earring thoughtfully, then smiles...

Dex is still standing in the Kennedys' back yard when Susan and Karl find him there, next to one of the smashed pots. He takes the blame, claiming that his basketball came over the fence and broke it. He's very apologetic. Karl says it's fine, but Susan asks where the basketball is. Dex claims he's already thrown it back over the fence. When Karl says Remi's home, Dex rushes off. Susan looks sceptical about his story.

Remi is looking at the photos of her and Cara as a couple on the fridge in the kitchen. She seems very confronted by it, and Cara offers to take the photos down if it's too much, but Remi says it's fine to leave them. She goes over to Cara's favourite chair; JJ and Taye are sitting nearby on the sofa.
REMI: Now this monstrosity, I remember. But remind me why we haven't chucked it yet.
CARA: Because it's mine.
They both look awkward.
Dex is in the sunroom, looking at his phone - he's messaged Saskia, asking if they can talk, but has had no reply yet. He joins the others in the living area and gives Remi a welcome- home hug. Terese and Nell then call around; they've brought Remi a day spa voucher for some reason. Remi suggests that she, Terese and Nell all go together - they can make a girls' day of it. But she doesn't invite Cara, who feels left out.
Cara goes to make tea, but finds they're out of milk. Seeing an opportunity to go and look for Saskia, Dex volunteers to go and buy some, and heads out. Cara looks wistfully at the photos on the fridge.
Ramsay Street
Karl is chatting to Max about Saskia being let go from Eirini Rising. Max says that Saskia will be fine about it, and that she doesn't let things like that get her down. Max rushes off somewhere, but says he'll be in touch if anything urgent comes up while Karl's in Canberra.
Karl spots Dex coming towards him, and asks him if he's aware of anything happening with Saskia today. Karl says he saw her in the street earlier and that she seemed very unhappy.
KARL: I mean, she does seem like a nice person, but I'm concerned. You know, I worry that if she needed help, she might not know how to ask for it.
Dex looks very awkward.
KARL: If you knew something was troubling her, you'd tell me, right?
DEX: I don't know anything.
KARL: Hmm. That's a shame. Because we can't help her if we don't have the full picture.
Dex seems like he's about to tell Karl what he knows, but then backs out, saying all he knows is that Saskia has been stressed with the amount of homework she has. But Karl looks suspicious as Dex walks off.
Lassiter's Hotel
Paul and Annalise are waiting for Krista to turn up with her idea for the community event. Krista comes in, with Wendy in tow.
PAUL: So why am I looking at Wendy Rodwell?
WENDY: Well, it's nice to see you too, Paul (!)
It turns out that the grand idea is to run an amateur jewellery- making competition. It will run alongside the expo and be open to all residents of Erinsborough; Krista has already run the idea past the council who she says liked it. Paul is keen on the idea too.
ANNALISE: Wow. Looks like you've saved the day.
KRISTA: Great! You can cancel the treasure hunt, then.
PAUL: Oh, no, we'll still be having that.
KRISTA: Actually, Paul, there's a bit of a clash -
PAUL: We're gonna have the competition *and* the treasure hunt. What a great outcome, hey?

Presumably in an attempt to stimulate Remi's memories, JJ tells Taye about a 'near- death experience' he once had. It was during a holiday in Queenscliff, on a stroll to the pier. Remi interrupts.
REMI: I remember this. We're walking down the pier, and Dexie goes, 'Hey, is that a shark?' And JJ comes straight over, and he's like, 'Where? I don't see anything.' Climbs up on the railing - and Dexter, without missing a beat, shoves him straight in!
Taye laughs. Remi says that if the water was much shallower, JJ could've broken his neck. Nonetheless she couldn't stop laughing as JJ made a funny gurgling sound as he went under (!) Cara and JJ are now both looking awkward, however.
JJ: Umm... Mum was actually the one who pushed me in. She and Dex were both in on the whole thing.
Remi looks very confused and disturbed about this, as it's contrary to what she thinks she remembers.
REMI: Well... that sounds like a really reckless thing for an adult to do.
Eirini Rising
Not content with the extent of her handiwork in Susan's garden, Saskia is now shredding documents in the office, and then picks up Susan's laptop. She's seemingly just about to smash it to the ground, when Dex appears at the door.
SASKIA: Why are you here? Are you stalking me?
DEX: There's obviously something wrong if you're acting like this. If you tell me, maybe I can help?
SASKIA: Everyone in this town acts like they want to help, and then they abandon you two minutes later.
DEX: Is this because Susan didn't make you residents' assistant?
SASKIA: No. She lied. It wasn't about work; she just... she didn't want me. Just like...
DEX: Just like Wendy? You did lock her in the storage cupboard, didn't you?
SASKIA: I was so upset, Dex. She gaslit me from day one. Pretending to be besties, and then blanking me. I just snapped.

Wendy and Sadie have called over to see how Remi's doing, while Taye mills about in the kitchen, and Cara and JJ are working in the living room. Wendy has bought Remi some really hard Sudoku puzzles to help with her cognition (but has already started filling one of them in!) Sadie takes the opportunity to chat to Taye in the kitchen and asks how he's coping with Remi and Cara's situation.
TAYE: If I understood the phrase 'Cold War' this well back in high school, I might've done better at history.
Sadie invites him to the Waterhole later to get a breather, as she's meeting Max and Krista for drinks. Taye says this sounds like 'heaven'.
TAYE: Sades... thank you.
SADIE: No need. I can tell you're really in survival mode.
Taye smiles at her fondly. Meanwhile, Wendy is commenting on how well Remi seems. Cara looks uncomfortable at the fact Remi is so friendly with Wendy yet doesn't remember Cara. Wendy keeps putting her foot in it, so Sadie drags her out of the house.
With the guests gone, awkwardness descends between Remi and Cara. Cara wonders where Dex has got to with the milk, then trips over JJ's schoolbag - and in the heat of the moment, loses her temper.
CARA (shouting): Seriously, JJ, I've told you a million times! Stop leaving your junk everywhere.
REMI: Hey - don't speak to my son like that!
CARA (annoyed): He's not just *your* son, Remi.
The Waterhole
Krista, Sadie, Taye and Max are having a drink, and Taye is relieved to have some breathing space from Remi and Cara. Krista is in a good mood thanks to Wendy and her homemade jewellery having helped to win over the council with the competition idea.
MAX: Must've felt pretty good to show that Annalise chick who's boss.
KRISTA: It really did.
She raises a toast to Wendy. Dex comes in at this point, and Taye assumes he's come out to get some space as well. He tells Dex that he's always welcome over at No 32 if he needs time out. But Dex is actually here to see Max, and takes him aside for a chat.
DEX: There's something you need to know.

Cara is stewing in the sunroom when Remi comes through to talk to her.
REMI: I know I wasn't my best self earlier. I am trying to get my head around the idea that you and I are married and the boys aren't just mine, but... it isn't easy. You're just a stranger to me.
CARA: That's awesome. Every time you say it.
REMI: Just trying to be honest.
CARA: I know.
REMI (tearful): Can you imagine how difficult this is for me? I'm in photos with someone I share a home with, that everyone tells me I love, and none of it feels real. I just... feel completely lost.
CARA: So do I.
REMI: Clearly we are both trying our best... but I think, maybe, it might be good if we just give each other a bit more space.
CARA: Agreed. Lucky we have separate bedrooms.
Cara walks past Remi back into the house. Remi looks upset.

Paul comes in with Terese's favourite chicken pesto takeaway from the hotel.
TERESE: And I made your favourite salad.
She holds up a pre- bought bag of salad leaves!
PAUL: Mmm. Fresh (!)
Terese wonders why Paul is in such a good mood. Nell, who is setting the table for dinner, thinks it's suspicious! Paul tells Terese about Krista saving the day with her community event plan.
TERESE: Okay, out with it, Robinson.
PAUL: Out with what?
TERESE: You know what I'm talking about. Why are you pitting Annalise and Krista against each other?
PAUL: I'm not!
Terese grabs Paul's mobile phone and holds it over a jug of water, threatening to drop it in if he doesn't explain himself! Paul grabs the phone back, but admits he does have an ulterior motive for bringing Annalise to town.
TERESE: Haha! I knew it!
He suggests they sit down and talk about it.

Dex has returned home and is sitting on the couch with Cara and JJ. JJ apologises for leaving his bag in the way earlier, and Cara apologises for going off at him about it - saying it wasn't about him, and she was just stressed at what's been going on.
DEX: Is it always gonna be like this?
CARA: I don't think so. We're all just adjusting.
DEX: What if Ma doesn't get her memory back?
JJ: Yeah, we really don't want you to break up.
CARA: Let's not get ahead of ourselves, okay? What your ma needs is to feel safe, and not pressured. Just take each day as it comes. Okay?
DEX: Okay.
JJ: Yeah. Whatever Ma needs.
Unseen by the others, Remi has come in and starts listening.
CARA: I need you both to know one thing that will always be true. Your Ma and I love you more than anything else in this world, okay? And I'm gonna do whatever it takes to keep our family together.
Remi is deeply emotional, and somewhat conflicted, as she hears this.

In the garden, Max has convened Wendy, Susan and Karl for a war council about Saskia, following what Dex has presumably told him. Wendy feels vindicated to know that Saskia locked her in the cupboard after all.
MAX: Guys, she's my baby sister. I just don't know how I didn't see this.
SUSAN: No, don't feel bad. Saskia's worked very hard at hiding just how extreme her behaviour has become.
KARL: Well, I don't know Saskia's complete history, but from what I'm seeing, she's dealing with some complex attachment issues. Now, it's not my place to diagnose, but I would suggest she sees a psychologist soon. Just to help avoid her behaviour escalating.
Karl has to head to the airport for his Canberra trip (he says Holly is driving him), but promises to think of any practitioners he could recommend while he's on the way. Wendy, Karl and Susan all leave.
Saskia comes out of the house; Max hadn't realised she was at home. She instantly guesses that something is awry, but Max claims he's just hungry. Saskia suggests they have their mum Yvette's 'hot dog macaroni thingy' for dinner. Max agrees, and opts not to say anything about Saskia's poor behaviour for now. Once she's gone indoors, Max phones Yvette.
MAX: Hey, Mum... Yeah, umm... we need to talk.

Paul is telling Terese about how he's been testing the ground with Annalise and Krista. He had heard from Lucy that Annalise was considering a permanent return to Australia, so when he heard about the Bronze Bell award, he thought he'd see how well she and Krista worked together as a team, ahead of Annalise possibly being given a permanent position at the hotel.
Terese wants to know why a new manager is needed, and why Paul hasn't been open about it.
PAUL: Because it's a bigger conversation, which involves you and me. Darling... when I was in New York, helping Andrew and Natasha to prepare for the baby, it was the closest we'd felt in years (...) and it was the same with Amy and Jimmy as well. Not so much Elle, actually. I hardly saw her. Bit worried about that, actually.
TERESE: Okay, so... where are you going with this?
PAUL: Well, you know, I'm not getting any younger, and - I dunno - I just think I'd like to spend more time over there with them.
TERESE: Right - well, how much more time?
PAUL: Don't know at this stage. But I'd like the flexibility of being able to go over and back as often as I can. Oh, darling, don't think of this as me wanting to be away from you. I mean, it's quite the opposite.
TERESE: No, I understand. Your children are important (...) But maybe you should be transparent with Annalise and Krista.
PAUL: No! Look, it's all a big 'maybe' at the moment. And who knows? Annalise might not even be the correct fit. So how about we just see how the next week goes, hmm?

Dex, JJ and Cara are at the table, waiting for Remi who has asked to see them all. Remi comes in with Susan, and JJ asks what's going on.
REMI: I really want this to be okay. But for now... I don't think us all being here is working.
DEX: But you haven't even given it a go.
REMI: I spoke to Susan, and Karl and Holly before they went to the airport...
SUSAN: We understand what you're going through, and we're here for all of you.
REMI: I just think I need some space to help get my head clearer.
JJ: What does that mean?
REMI: ... I'm gonna go and stay with the Kennedys.
JJ, Dex and Cara all look gutted.
