In the garden, the party continues. Taye arrives, and Holly and Max fill him in on Steven and Gretchen leaving after things got intense with Wendy. Nearby, Andrew and Wendy are arguing about it.
ANDREW: I mean, you couldn't just let go of a few hurt feelings?
WENDY: I was actually trying to smooth things over. Gretchen was so defensive.
ANDREW: But if you had just dropped it earlier, like I asked you to, none of this would've happened.
Sadie finally turns up in a glamorous pink dress, and is annoyed when nobody notices!
SADIE: Hello? I'm trying to make an entrance here.
Everyone sees her and claps and cheers. But Sadie wants to know where Gretchen and Steven are, as she thought they were meant to be coming. Andrew and Wendy exchange an awkward glance.
Ramsay Street
Also on their way to the party are Nell, JJ, Dex and Saskia. They're talking about Gavin Bowman's release; Nell is surprised that Dex isn't more anxious about being out in public.
DEX: Yeah, well - as long as there's people around it should be fine.
JJ: No, he was just caught in the crossfire last time. He'd have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen again.
SASKIA: Hey, don't minimise it. He's tough!
DEX: Yeah, JJ.
JJ: Yeah, you know, you tell yourself that...
JJ asks Saskia why she's coming to the party, and whether Dex had to beg her!
SASKIA: I just assumed if the rest of my house was coming, I was invited too. Maybe we could count this as a second date?
DEX: Yeah. Definitely.
NELL: Oh, you two are so cute!

In the kitchen, Sadie is upset about not getting to meet Steven and Gretchen, and Holly comforts her.
SADIE: It's just, I built it up so much in my head.
HOLLY: Because it's a big deal.
SADIE: Maybe not for them. Otherwise they wouldn't have left.
HOLLY: No, it's not about that. They were really looking forward to meeting you. Sometimes things just get in the way. Steven will definitely find another day. Maybe that will be even better, because you'll get to spend more time together.
As Andrew and Wendy come in, Holly adds that Steven seems like a really kind person - it will be fine. Andrew agrees.
Aaron and Rhett come in with a birthday present for Sadie. Rhett says it was their first time shopping together as a couple, so he got a bit overexcited! Holly goes to get drinks for Aaron and Rhett, while Wendy apologises to Sadie, saying she didn't mean for Gretchen and Steven to leave. Sadie isn't clear what happened, but Andrew suggests they put a pin in talking about it for now.
ANDREW: Holly's right - this is something we can solve, but maybe not today. Let's just have a fun party, because that's what you deserve.
When prompted by Andrew, Wendy agrees this is a good idea. But as Andrew hugs Sadie, Wendy looks worried.
A while later in the garden, Max gets drinks for Holly and Sadie and offers to get them some food too. Saskia comes over, and joins Max at the buffet table. She suggests they get their bathers and fire up the spa, but Max wonders whether she wouldn't rather hang out with JJ, Dex and Nell and have some fun. Saskia looks disappointed at this. She agrees to his suggestion, but looks lonely and worried as she moves away.
Instead of finding the other teens, Saskia spots Wendy and goes over to say hello. Saskia says she's loved wearing Wendy's homemade jewellery and wonders if they can make some more. Wendy says of course they can, any time, but is clearly still distracted by what happened with Gretchen.
Remi and Cara have are arrived and are chatting to Sadie and Holly, when Taye comes over to 'steal the birthday girl'. Taking her aside, he asks if he can give her her gift now. She says she's waiting on some food from Max.
TAYE: It won't take long. It does have to be in private, though.
SADIE: Okay. I'm in.
In the kitchen, Taye presents Sadie with his present - 'love dice'.
TAYE: You roll the first one to pick a body part... and the next one gives you an action.
Taye begins to kiss Sadie, and tells her that the dice aren't all PG- rated. They flirt with each other and then fall into a pash. But at this point Holly and Max walk in, and look shocked/amused!
In the garden, Wendy checks in with Andrew, who is still clearly annoyed over Gretchen leaving.
ANDREW: I just wanted it to be a good day.
WENDY: Well, it still can be...
Saskia comes over again, and Wendy suppresses her frustration at the interruption. Guessing Saskia is bored, she suggests that she go and find out what Max is up to.
SASKIA: I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm being annoying, so...
Wanting to get rid of Saskia, Wendy asks if she'd mind helping by bringing some more drinks out. Saskia is eager to help, but wanting out of the conversation with Wendy himself, Andrew says he will sort out the drinks - leaving Wendy looking worried again. Saskia offers to help tidy up instead, and Wendy agrees.
In the living room, Holly and Sadie are having a frantic conversation.
HOLLY: Taye? *Taye*?!
SADIE: Okay, don't say it like that. We're not a thing.
HOLLY: Well, how long has it been?
SADIE: Just a few days. Less than a week.
HOLLY: Well, how long have you liked him for?
SADIE: Holly, no. As if, okay? We're just - we're hooking up.
HOLLY: What about Byron?
In the kitchen, Taye admits to Max that Byron already knows about him and Holly, and didn't take it well.
MAX: Yeah, dude, no kidding! (...)
TAYE: I know it's harsh, and I feel bad. But... Sadie is just such a cool girl.
MAX: Yeah. Well, if you go down this path, it's not gonna be pretty.
A while later, Cara and Remi come into the kitchen and find Rhett and Aaron all loved up, sipping one another's drinks through straws.
REMI: I don't know how I didn't see it earlier. They're so cute.
CARA: Yes, right?
Remi spots Taye in the living room and goes to quiz him about Sadie.
TAYE: Seriously, how do you already know?
REMI: Max and Holly came outside, and they looked like they had goss. Turns out my brother's been snogging one of his mates, who just got out of a serious relationship.
TAYE: Oh my gosh, I heard about that (!)
REMI: Don't joke! I hope you're being careful with her.
TAYE: I'm not taking advantage.
REMI: No, no, I don't mean that. Just... she's been through a lot. Don't hurt her, okay?
TAYE: I'm not going to. It's just different than it is with other people. I don't know why, but Sadie just makes me not want to look at anyone else.
REMI (teasing): Umm... okay! Look who's a big kid now - congratulations!
TAYE: Ease up, it's way too early for all that.
REMI (teasing): No, no - I'm just saying that if you're having these feelings, it means you are growing up, and that's so nice! (...) I'm very proud of you!
Taye's done with Remi's teasing and walks off to find a drink. We see that Sam has arrived; she walks past Remi into the kitchen. Remi now grabs Sadie for a chat.
REMI: I just wanted to say that I'm very happy about you and Taye.
SADIE: Happy about what?
REMI: Well, what do you mean?
SADIE: We're not together, and we're not dating.
REMI: Oh, no - like, I know it's too soon, but... I just think you could be a really good influence on him.
SADIE (laughs): Taye? Have you met him? I'm not trying to fix a player.
Remi processes this as Sadie walks off, realising Taye and Sadie may be looking for different things.
In the kitchen, Wendy and Saskia are done with the tidying. Saskia doesn't seem to want to leave Wendy's side - she won't relinquish her bin bag for Wendy to take out, but when Wendy asks Saskia to take hers instead, Saskia wants Wendy to show her where they go. Getting a bit frustrated with Saskia clinging to her, Wendy leads the way out onto the street.
Ramsay Street
Wendy and Saskia deposit their bin bags in the drive, while Dex, JJ and Nell are throwing a ball about nearby. Keen to get rid of Saskia, Wendy suggests she stay out here and join in the ball game, but Saskia says she's not into ball sports.
Dex suggests they get some ice cream at his place. Saskia doesn't look keen, but Wendy tells her she should stay and have some fun, then quickly walks back inside. Saskia looks sad again as she watches Wendy leave.

Aaron is telling Andrew that Rhett has called this their first official date.
ANDREW: Aww.
AARON: Are we cute, or is that completely tragic?
ANDREW: Honestly, mate. Hang onto that - it's worth its weight in gold.
Wendy comes in, asking if she can have a chat with Andrew now. Aaron leaves them to it. Wendy says she's aware it's not the time for a full debrief, but she doesn't want to let what happened with Gretchen fester and wants to make sure it's something they can deal with later.
ANDREW: It's definitely something we can deal with. But at the same time, Wendy, I -
But he's interrupted by Saskia coming back! She claims that the ball the teens were playing with hit her in the eye; she'll need ice or else it will bruise. Wendy can't even see any mark, but Saskia is insistent about the ice as it feels swollen, and asks Wendy if she can sit with her for a minute. Realising their chat is going nowhere, Andrew leaves them to it. Wendy forces a smile for Saskia, which quickly disappears!
In the garden, Andrew asks Holly how she's doing following Gavin Bowman's release.
HOLLY: I'm trying to stay positive. I really appreciate everything you're doing for me.
ANDREW: Of course.
HOLLY: I wish that your dad and Gretchen hadn't left. You'd earned a nice day with them.
Andrew agrees, and looks like he's set to confide in Holly further, but then changes his mind, saying 'it is what it is'. He asks Holly to turn the music off, as it's time for speeches.
As Wendy joins him, Andrew thanks everybody for coming to the party and begins a tribute to Sadie.
ANDREW: She's not my little girl anymore, but she's still my pride and joy.
WENDY: As her parents, we are both incredibly proud of her. She knows what she wants out of life, and she goes for it. She is set up in her career at twenty- one.
ANDREW: But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. She's been through some really tough times. She's come through it all with so much strength.
WENDY: I think we both knew when we were potty training her and she figured it out in a week, that she was destined for greatness!
SADIE: Okay, I think I'm gonna take over now.
ANDREW: But I've got so much more to say.
SADIE: You've both said a lot already!
ANDREW: I just want to tell that one story -
SADIE: Dad - this is my moment. Even though my parents are tremendously embarrassing... I owe them everything. And they couldn't have shown me any more love, or support, especially recently. And I don't feel like a kid anymore - but I'll always be a part of Team Rodwell. So, my first toast... Team Rodwell.
ALL: Team Rodwell!
Later, back indoors, Sadie prepares to head into the city to continue the revelry at the karaoke bar. As she leaves, Wendy reminds her not to talk to strangers (!) Cara and Remi head home, along with JJ, Dex and Nell; it's Cara's first day as a police officer tomorrow, so Andrew says he'll see her bright and early.
Only Saskia is left of the party guests, and she offers Wendy some help washing up! Clearly wanting to get back to talking with Andrew, Wendy tells her they'll do it in the morning. Saskia suggests they sketch out some jewellery ideas instead, and won't take no for an answer. Eventually...
WENDY: Look, this is too much.
SASKIA: What is?
WENDY (loudly): Saskia, you need to go!
Hurt and confused, Saskia leaves. Andrew then compounds Wendy's woes by saying they're both tired - they should just go to bed and talk about what happened with Gretchen tomorrow.
WENDY (scoffs): Sure.

The next morning, Remi calls out for Cara to remind her she needs to leave to avoid being late. Cara comes in dressed in her police uniform. Remi gets really emotional.
CARA: What do you think?
REMI: Incredible. God, you look hot in navy.
CARA: Did I iron it okay? I want it to be perfect.
REMI: Yes, it is. You're just missing one thing.
Remi produces a badge of the Progress Pride flag, and pins it to Cara's shirt.
REMI: You're gonna be the best and most inclusive cop on the force.
CARA: Thank you... How crazy that my first day has to include Bowman.
REMI (worried): Yeah. But I'm sure you've got his measure.
CARA: Yeah. I'll do my best.
Cara promises to update Remi with how it's going on her first break. Remi does a little motivational song- and- dance.
REMI (singing): You're gonna be amazing!

Wendy is outside the main entrance sending a conciliatory text to Andrew, apologising for having to leave early for work. She's asking if they could meet up for lunch so they can discuss things. JJ, Dex and Nell arrive at school, followed a little way behind by Saskia. When Saskia makes eye contact, Wendy frowns and walks away. Saskia looks hurt.

Sadie is texting someone as Andrew comes into the kitchen. He asks if it's Taye.
SADIE: Uh... just feel free not to mention him.
ANDREW: Okay. Roger that.
She explains she's actually just posting some nice photos from the party yesterday. Sadie says she had a good time in spite of Steven and Gretchen leaving, and appreciates Andrew and Wendy not ruining things by arguing. Sadie asks if Andrew's talked to Wendy yet. He says he will, but he has all the Bowman stuff to deal with today too.
Sadie says Holly's relieved that the police are keeping an eye out for her at work, as she doesn't want it to affect her job. Andrew says he's glad she feels safe there. Sadie goes for a shower. Andrew looks pensive, then gets out his phone and looks at the party photos on Sadie's social media. He lingers on one of Holly, labelled 'my beautiful best friend', and looks worried.

In the corridor, Saskia thanks Dex for walking her to class.
DEX: That's okay. You just seemed a bit down this morning (...)
SASKIA: It's really sweet of you to notice. You're the only person around here who actually seems to care.
DEX: What can I do to cheer you up? Maybe... what's your favourite kind of flower?
SASKIA (laughs): Uh, anything. It's really nice of you to ask.
Saskia kisses Dex on the cheek, then rushes off to collect something she forgot from her locker. Dex looks like all his Christmases have come at once!
Around the corner, Wendy is putting up a poster on the wall. Unnoticed by her, Saskia walks past, looking shifty...

Remi is having breakfast with Taye outside the café. She mentions that Sadie gave her the impression she and Taye were 'super- casual'.
TAYE: Yeah?
REMI: Well, it's just... the way you were talking, I thought maybe you were feeling a bit more than that.
TAYE: Well, we both like each other. I mean, it's early. Sadie has to act like it's nothing, because of Byron being upset...
At this point, Taye spots Sadie walking through the courtyard and rushes over to talk to her.
TAYE: We gave everyone something to talk about yesterday.
SADIE: Yeah. Whoops.
TAYE: At least we don't have to sneak around, though. Do you want to grab dinner tonight?
SADIE: Uh, maybe not - it's a bit too relationship- y. No offence. I mean, I'm already tired of explaining to people that we're not together. Plus I thought they would've all realised that I'm just not ready yet.
TAYE: Yeah, I know. Seems annoying.
SADIE: Like, how do you explain to your dad, like, friends with benefits?
TAYE: So, definitely no dinner...
But Sadie says they can catch up afterwards, and says she'll text him. She walks off. Taye looks disappointed.

Wendy is waving off pupils as they leave school for the day. Among those who have left the building are Saskia, but she lingers by the entrance, looking back at Wendy. Wendy doesn't notice as she's too busy looking at one of the lockers, which has been graffitied. Wendy goes into the nearby storeroom to find something to clean off the graffiti with.
Unseen by Wendy, Saskia appears behind her and, with a sly expression on her face, closes the storeroom door and padlocks it, leaving Wendy trapped inside!
WENDY (banging on door): Hello, I'm still in here! Hello? Open up. Hello, this is not funny. Hello!
Saskia smirks and leaves the building once again.
