Jane, Nicolette, Byron, Sadie, Aaron and Sam are still gathered on the patio talking to Amanda's solicitor, Russell Jones. They are still processing the news that Sadie has effective control of Amanda's assets, as stipulated by her will.
NICOLETTE: No, they met a month ago!
JANE: She really didn't leave *anything* for her family? Nothing for her grandchildren?
RUSSELL: Umm, she left just one thing.
Russell points to a section of the will which Byron reads out.
BYRON (reading): 'To my darling family, I leave my love, which is more than they gave me while I was alive.'
NICOLETTE: Are you serious?!
SAM: That's harsh.
Aaron suggests to Sam that they perhaps shouldn't be here for this, and the two of them head off together. Nicolette asks Sadie if she knew about this; Sadie promises that she didn't.
SADIE: I'm just as shocked as you guys are.
JANE: It's alright, Sadie. We're not blaming you.
NICOLETTE: Well, we all suspected she had dementia. Now we know!
Russell explains that the will was made about two years ago, but the appointment of Sadie as the trustee is a recent amendment. Aside from that, nothing has been changed.
No 28
Darcy has finished lunch with the Kennedys, and says he's missed the three of them spending time together. Karl goes out the back, and Susan looks awkward at being alone with Darcy. He asks her if there's something she wants to say.
SUSAN: Try and see this from my point of view. Karl has accused you of some very serious things.
DARCY: And like I told you, that's his addiction talking.
SUSAN: Even so, it's very difficult to just sweep it under a rug.
DARCY: Well, Karl and I have put it behind us. Hopefully you can too.
At this point Holly comes in. Darcy greets her, and she ignores him! Darcy thanks Susan for lunch and leaves.
HOLLY: It is so weird him just dropping by as if nothing happened.
SUSAN: What's your dad said to you about this?
HOLLY: Just that... he still doesn't trust Darcy but he's moving past it. Do you think there's more going on?
SUSAN: ... As long as your dad is on top of his health, that's all that matters.
Susan heads off to Wendy's place to give her the condolence book to sign for Jane and family.

Jane, Nicolette, Byron, Sadie and Russell the lawyer are still on the patio. Nicolette wonders why, if Sadie has control of Amanda's assets, she can't simply give them to the family. Byron explains it's because it's been stipulated where the money is to go. Nic suggests leaving a small amount for the scholarship trust and for the rest to come to the family. Russell says there may be 'wriggle room' for this... if Sadie's on board.
But Sadie is looking increasingly uncomfortable with the direction of the conversation. Byron says he'll go through the possibilities tonight, and says they need to do a full audit of Amanda's finances to makes sure there's nothing else they don't know about. Nicolette assures Jane they'll deal with this, but Jane simply thanks Russell for coming and offers to see him out.
NICOLETTE (to Sadie): Look, hopefully you just have to sign a few documents, and then you'll never have to think about this again.
SADIE (uncertainly): Right...
No 26
In the garden, Andrew puts out some washing while Susan and Wendy chat on the patio. Susan tells Wendy how much everyone loved her portrait of Amanda.
SUSAN: I think Amanda would've loved it too.
Susan senses Wendy is distracted; Wendy admits, once Andrew has gone back indoors, that she thought he was having an affair when he wasn't. Susan says trust in a marriage is something that takes work.
WENDY: He was just being friendly to Sandra. Yet I jumped to the worst possible conclusion.
SUSAN: Why do you think you did that?
WENDY: Andrew's a handsome man in a uniform. Double trouble, right? And I know women respond to him, but this time it just... got under my skin, you know? I'm just not as secure as I used to be.
Wendy asks how things are with Susan and Karl, having 'heard some talk' about Darcy. Susan is hesitant to say much. She says things have settled down a bit, but that it all nonetheless feels 'unresolved'.
Back indoors, Wendy finds Andrew looking at the Ramsay- Robinson family tree again.
WENDY: You must have that memorised by now (...) Thinking about your biological family again?
ANDREW: I can't get it out of my mind. Just using this as a distraction.
Wendy sits down next to him, keen to heal their rift.
WENDY: What can I do to make this right?
ANDREW: I dunno.
WENDY: I've already said I'm sorry.
ANDREW: I just need some time, Wends.
At this point Sadie, Holly and Max come in, to tell Wendy and Andrew the news about Amanda's will...
No 28
Darkness has fallen, and Holly comes in to find Susan and Karl in the kitchen, not saying much to one another.
HOLLY: Alright, I'm just gonna say it. It is so weird that you're giving Darcy the time of day.
KARL: Well, I'm just trying to keep things professional. Susan still works with him.
HOLLY: You said he planted drugs on you! Dad, he's been shafting you all along.
KARL: None of which I can prove, alright? I'm just trying to make things as easy as possible.
Susan and Karl are planning on calling in at Jane's. Susan goes to freshen up, giving Holly the chance to ask Karl what's really going on.
KARL: I just told you.
HOLLY: There's no way that you're buddy- buddy with Darcy again.
KARL: Alright. I'm resisting saying any more until I've got proof of my suspicions.
HOLLY: Good! So you haven't given up. What's your next move?
KARL: Well, I'm keeping an eye on Darcy. I find all this business with Amanda very disconcerting.
HOLLY: What do you mean?
KARL: Well, he spent a lot of time with her before she passed. At one stage, I suspected he was after her money.
HOLLY: Well, he's missed out on that jackpot. She left Sadie in charge of everything. Darcy isn't benefiting at all.
Karl looks intrigued by this information...

Darcy has invited Sadie over for a cuppa! She admits it's been a tough day. Darcy says he just wanted to check in, and says he had no idea she was named in Amanda's will.
SADIE: Me neither. Byron's trying to find a legal way around it. He's talking about an audit of her finances. It's a lot.
Darcy looks worried!
SADIE: You know, maybe I should just step aside.
DARCY: I think Amanda's final wishes should be respected. She gave you this responsibility for a reason. Do you really want to let her down?
Shortly afterwards, Karl turns up at the door with a basket of fresh veggies from the garden for Darcy. Karl doesn't look very surprised to see Sadie there! She says she'd better head off, and Karl heads to the kitchen to put the veggies away. But despite being at a distance, Karl listens carefully to Darcy's parting words to Sadie as he shows her to the front door.
DARCY: Just remember, you're protecting Amanda's legacy. You can't let other people's agendas get in the way of that. Even if they're her family. I'm sure you'll do the right thing.
SADIE: ... Yeah. Thanks for listening.
Once Sadie's gone, Karl acknowledges to Darcy that he's heard Sadie has been left in charge of Amanda's finances. Darcy says it's a shame she's been caught up in the fallout.
DARCY: So is that why you're *really* here, Karl?
KARL (laughs): No!
Darcy laughs along, but looks suspicious as Karl leaves.
No 26
Andrew and Wendy are discussing Sadie's situation with Amanda's will. Wendy thinks she's been through enough already lately, but Andrew is sure she'll be able to handle it. He gets back to looking at the Ramsay- Robinson family tree.
WENDY: So, do you think that you are a long- lost Ramsay- Robinson?
ANDREW (laughs): Well, stranger things have happened on this street.
WENDY: What do you think is really driving this interest behind your biological family?
ANDREW: Umm... I think it's been building up without me realising it. I mean, JJ reconnecting with Felix, that was the start. Chelsea with Thomas... and recently, umm... Jane with Amanda. Made me realise how precious time is. I mean, are my birth parents even still alive?
WENDY: But you know some things about them, don't you?
ANDREW: Well... Gran said they're from Sandy Point. And my biological dad was in the Navy.
WENDY: Well, that's enough information, if you want to pursue it.
ANDREW: Maybe. Who knows? Are they even still together?
WENDY: So what is holding you back? Your family?
ANDREW: I think Mum and Dad would be really supportive. But they're away. So I don't really want to bother them with all this stuff.
WENDY: That sounds like a convenient excuse to avoid a difficult conversation. So what is the real reason?
ANDREW: Honestly? ... It's all a bit scary. What if they don't like me? What if I don't like them? What if they aren't good people?
WENDY: Yeah, but you're not gonna know that unless you find them.
ANDREW: If they aren't... I think I'd rather be none the wiser. Does that make sense?
WENDY: Yeah. You're protecting your heart. That makes complete sense.
Wendy looks thoughtful...
No 24
Susan and Karl are hanging out with Jane, who is telling them about Amanda's will leaving everything for a beauty scholarship fund.
JANE: Just one final slap in the face from Mum.
SUSAN: I had no idea that Amanda and Sadie were so close?
JANE: Well, we're all still trying to get our heads around it.
KARL: Hmm. There's a lot of unanswered questions, aren't there? I mean, Amanda accused you of trying to put her in a home, and then she backed out of the Dandenongs excursion - yet on the same afternoon, she went on her own.
Susan gives Karl a look, as if to warn him not to rake over it all. Jane says she assumes Amanda was feeling sentimental about the Dandenongs after all.
KARL: Well, *was* she, when she was so angry with you? And why *did* she turn on you? I thought you were on much better terms?
SUSAN: Karl...
KARL: Well, I'm just saying! There's a lot about Amanda's death that doesn't make sense.
Susan makes it clear he should stop going on about it. Jane looks upset, and Karl apologises for going off on one.
No 28
Susan and Karl are back home, and she tears into him about his behaviour at Jane's, asking him what he was trying to achieve by going on about Amanda's death.
KARL: I was just commenting on the logic of it all.
SUSAN: Amanda was not of sound mind. We may never know why she went to the Dandenongs that day.
KARL: Okay.
SUSAN: Okay?!
KARL: Mm.
SUSAN: Oh, I am finding you very hard to read at the moment!
KARL: Well, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be enigmatic.
SUSAN: What exactly is going through your head? Does it have anything to do with Darcy?
KARL: Well, he did spend a lot of time with Amanda. He was desperate for investors.
SUSAN: Yes, but *Sadie* is Amanda's trustee. Not Darcy.
KARL: I know. Look, I am sorry if I upset Jane.
Karl walks off, and Susan looks concerned.
Ramsay Street
The next morning, Byron and Nicolette see Sadie in the street, and ask to talk. Sadie agrees it's time they did. Byron explains that he's come up with a legal plan to divert the majority of Amanda's assets to the family. All the money will go into the trust, but only a token amount need go into the scholarship, Nic says - then the rest can go to Jane.
SADIE: That scholarship was important to Amanda.
NICOLETTE: Oh, come on! All of that money going towards TAFE fees for random fashion and beauty students? Nanna clearly wasn't thinking straight.
Sadie looks peeved at this. Jane joins them.
SADIE: I just don't understand how you can get around what Amanda wanted.
BYRON: It's complicated legal stuff. Super boring.
JANE: Well, Sadie might want to hear it.
BYRON (dismissively): I'm sure she doesn't.
Now Sadie looks angry!
BYRON: Anyway, all you have to do is allocate either me or Nic as a joint trustee, and then we can take it from there (...) I can bring some paperwork by later on, if that works for you?
SADIE (tersely): No. It doesn't. I still need time to think about it.
Byron and Nicolette both look shocked!
No 24
Sadie has joined Byron and Nicolette for a tense round of tea and biccies, while Jane hovers in the kitchen. Sadie explains to them that she needs time to think about Amanda's wishes. Byron insists they'll be honoured.
SADIE: You said something about a token amount?
NICOLETTE: Yep, that'll be enough. I mean, how many makeup artists does the world need?
BYRON: Nanna hurt Mum so much over the years, the least she could do is look after her now.
NICOLETTE: And she was trying to make it right with us before she died, so I think she would be okay with this.
Jane looks like she has grave doubts about the arguments being made by her kids - as does Sadie.
SADIE: Amanda's trying to give people the chance to live out the dream that she never could. Don't you think that's important?
NICOLETTE (dismissive): Dream? Come on!
SADIE (annoyed): She never got to go to beauty school, okay? Her mother dismissed her. Kind of like how you're dismissing me now.
BYRON: Okay, I think we're getting off track here.
NICOLETTE: It's simple, okay? Nanna was mad at us, so she made you trustee, but it wasn't fair.
SADIE: Have you ever thought that maybe she *knew* what she was doing with her money? It's that simple (!)
BYRON: Okay. Sadie, why don't you just meet us halfway?
NICOLETTE: This is actually getting ridiculous. Mum, can you please chime in?
JANE: No, I'm not getting involved.
BYRON: What? Why not?
JANE: Because Sadie is right. Maybe Mum knew exactly what she was doing. It is possible.
Jane leaves the house. Sadie looks vindicated!
No 28
Max has been having breakfast with Holly, Karl and Susan. Max suggests to Holly that they spend the day hanging out by the pool, and Holly seems keen. At which point, Darcy lets himself in, to return Karl's empty veggie basket from last night.
SUSAN (surprised): Were you at Darcy's last night?
KARL: Yes, I took him some veggies before I went to Jane's.
Susan seems to accept this, though looks a bit mystified. Darcy suggests he and Susan head to work together, so she leaves with him. Karl watches them as they go, then immediately opens his laptop and starts tapping at it. Keen for a chat alone with Karl, Holly tells Max she'll come over to his shortly, and Max leaves too.
HOLLY (to Karl): What are you up to? I know you weren't just on a veggie run last night.
KARL: I told you, I'm keeping a close eye on Darcy.
Holly looks over Karl's shoulder at the laptop.
HOLLY: Why are you searching Dr Anthony Halsworth?
KARL: Well, Tess Bell told me that Dr Halsworth and Darcy were in business together, so I thought it might be time to give the good doctor a call.
Holly looks impressed with Karl's ingenuity!
Harold's Café
Wendy is working a shift when Jane turns up. Wendy apologises for not being able to make the memorial yesterday. Jane understands Wendy had to work, and says the 'beautiful portrait' she made of Amanda more than made up for it. Wendy broaches the issue of the will, and Jane assures her that she doesn't blame Sadie for any of it.
JANE: Although Byron and Nicolette don't quite feel the same way, so it could get messy.
WENDY: Well, messy fits with the theme of our house lately.
JANE: Andrew still hasn't forgiven you?
WENDY: No, he's trying. Which gives me hope. Amanda's passing, it really had an impact on him, interestingly.
She explains how it has renewed Andrew's interest in finding his biological parents, which Jane thinks is a positive thing. But Wendy explains that he only wants to find them if they're good people; if not, he'd rather not know.
JANE: It could end up being a wonderful thing. Depending on who these people are.
WENDY: Mm. Hey, maybe there's a way to get answers without him, you know, getting his hopes up...
Shortly afterwards, Wendy is looking at census data for Sandy Point, the town Andrew's biological family comes from. She jumps and puts her phone away when Andrew shows up, and goes to make him a coffee. Nicolette comes in.
NICOLETTE: Aww, look! All's well that ends well with the catfisher, eh?
ANDREW: Too soon, Nic.
NICOLETTE: Anyhoo... uh, Sadie. She's not budging on Nanna's will - can one of you talk to her?
ANDREW: She'll come to us if she needs help.
NICOLETTE: No, she needs to see sense. This scholarship thing, it's ridiculous.
WENDY: Well, I've spoken to Jane, and she's happy to leave it with Sade - so, you know, we're not gonna intervene.
NICOLETTE: Seriously?
WENDY (assertive): Sorry, Nicolette, but we're gonna back our daughter 100 percent.
Nicolette scoffs in disbelief.
No 32
By the pool, Holly congratulates Sadie for sticking to her guns over Amanda's will. Sadie says she just wants to do right by Amanda's wishes. Max says he can see where Byron and Nicolette are coming from, though; they're trying to do the right thing by Jane. Holly doesn't look convinced.
Byron turns up, and asks for a word with Sadie, gesturing that they should go inside. But she shrugs, indicating that he can say whatever he wants here.
BYRON: Look, I spoke to Russell, and he told me that before Nanna amended the will, she actually named me as trustee.
SADIE: So?
MAX: So she trusts you to do the right thing.
Holly whacks Max gently for interfering, and he mouths 'ow!' at her.
BYRON: Exactly. I think it's got to count for something, right?
SADIE: Well, she still changed her will and named me trustee.
BYRON: Sades, I can't keep arguing the same point here. I just think I'm a better fit to take care of this.
SADIE: Why?
BYRON: I dunno - maybe the fact that I'm family, I understand the law, and I'm better qualified.
SADIE: So that's how it is. What, you just think I'm some bimbo who does makeup and works at a spa?
BYRON: No, it's... Sadie, this is about denying my mother her inheritance!
SADIE: Yeah, I don't think it is.
HOLLY: Okay, guys, why don't we just take a breath?
BYRON: Why don't you just make me co- trustee? That's -
SADIE: No! Because I'm not gonna be bullied by you and treated like I'm beneath you, okay?! I'm gonna honour Amanda's wishes - end of story!
Byron looks disbelieving. Holly looks quietly impressed!
