Erinsborough High School (Principal's Office)
Given what Nell found in her locker, she doesn't want to stay at school and plans to resume studying from home after today, to allow her to talk to her teachers. Jane is determined to punish the culprits and agrees to Nell learning from home again, even if Toadie isn't totally convinced it's the right move.
After Jane, Nell and JJ leave the Principal's Office, Paul apologises to Toadie for dropping Nell in it, he was doing his best to clear Leo's name before it was too late. While Toadie doesn't disagree with Paul's actions, he is at a loss over how to get Nell through this, given she was just starting to feel positive again. It is Terese who is the one to reassure Toadie that he has a plan for how to get the charges Nell is facing dropped but has an idea over how to cheer the lass up in the meantime and heads off to go instigate things.
Eirini Rising
Darcy is thrilled when Amanda returns the bracelet he left behind in her flat… what he isn't thrilled about is being called Peter, which was the name of Amanda's late husband.
When he resumes chatting to the K's he's forced to explain how Amanda had it (inadvertently left behind after doing the dishes following the family meal). The K's aren't too happy that he's spending time with Amanda and in turn he reminds them of their friendship with Harold, who was also an Eirini resident but was at #28 "all the time."
KARL: Harold is a very old friend of ours!
Darcy is frustrated that the K's aren't giving him an inch to help win their trust back, unlike others he's reached out to like Tess and Dee.
Harold's café
Wendy is still very keen on moving to Murrayville and tries to force Andrew's hand, but he thinks that Sadie needs her parents right now and is using that as his main reason for wanting to stay put in Erinsborough and not his career as she seems to think.
The Waterhole
Toadie spots Holly on entering the bar and after a quick catch up, he is after something from her.
Harold's café
Wendy tells Nicolette about how unenthused she is about her latest teaching job - teaching 16 year old boys PE especially as her heart is really set on getting the fulltime position in Murrayville. She goes on to add that Andrew won't consider move there, which she is adamant is due to his job rather than Sadie as he suggested in their earlier conversation. Nicolette is peeved [for Wendy] and tries to empower Wendy to stand up and demand the move to Murrayville! Wendy seems inspired by the words Nicolette has said to her and leaves the café in a very positive mood!
Meanwhile, given what Darcy said earlier, Karl is checking to see if he said was true or not… and it's the later for Dee after a quick call to Toadie.
Lassiters Complex
Paul spots that Chelsea looks concerned when he spots her in the complex - it would seem there is an issue with Thomas which is concerning her, the wee toot isn't interested in feeding and is running a temperature too. By chance, Remi is also in the complex and Paul calls her over to check on Thomas and after she has done that, she suggests that a trip to the hospital is required!
Meanwhile at the back of the complex, outside the rear of Harold's, Jane and Nicolette are 'bad mouthing' how disastrous Amanda was at the family meal when of course they run into her! They pair act all nice around her, even inviting her along on a walk but Amanda doesn't want to be a burden on them. Jane now tries begging her mum to come along on their walk, but it turns out Amanda has an appointment at the day spa so [genuinely] can't participate. After Amanda leaves, Jane is literally kicking herself for begging her mum when all along, Amanda had no intention of participating.
Erinsborough High School
While hiding out in some social area room with JJ, Nell is regretting her decision to stay at school for the rest of the day and not leave immediately after finding the fish. The pair are interrupted by Holly, after Toadie asked her to have a word with Nell given he knew she went through something similar. Making herself comfy on a beanbag, Holly begins her story.
HOLLY: Once upon a time, there was an evil podcasting goblin who set her sights on a beautiful, innocent girl and made her out to be a cold- blooded killer. That beautiful innocent girl was me!
The pair knew she was talking about herself, but Holly wants to get over how she felt when "the whole world was talking about 'Hellfire Holly'."
HOLLY: Watching me, staring at me. I wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear… and I basically did.
NELL: When you quit your job?
(Holly nods)
HOLLY: But then an evil hotel tycoon dude, who was on a break from villainy got into my ear and told me to own my past and hold my head up high.
As if they didn't already know, it was Paul whom Holly was referring to, but she so liked the advice Paul gave her that she wanted to pay it forward. Nell thinks its "really sweet" that Holly is trying to help her, but she thinks this is totally different - she doesn't want to hide forever, she just needs some "time out".
NELL: Therapy girl here knows the importance of saying what I want and don't want and that's what I'm doing right now.
HOLLY: Okay, I'm not telling you to stay in school, that's not what this is, I just wanted to talk to you.
Holly wants Nell to talk about what happened today and if she has any idea who put the fish in her locker - Holly has a can of hairspray she is willing to use! That at least gets a laugh out of Nell!
Lassiters Spa
Sadie is dishing out the compliments over how well Amanda looks for her age as she begins the treatment plan for Amanda. Amanda likes the compliments; it builds on ones she got when she was much younger. The chat allows Sadie to open up about how she feels over her injuries from the fire.
Erinsborough High School
JJ has left the ladies to chat, and Nell asks if Holly still thinks about how Heath died. "All the time," is Holly's reply but she quickly follows this up by saying "it gets easier though" as her nightmares have stopped and she isn't feeling as anxious.
HOLLY: Trauma might've changed my life, but it didn't stop me from living it.
NELL: Well, I'm really glad it's that way for you, but I can't see myself ever being okay again. I just wish this never happened.
Holly feels really sorry for what Nell is going through/feeling but tell she that she can't change the past, not control what others think of her but "you can control what you think of yourself."
HOLLY: If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to have compassion for you, just like with me and Heath. This was an accident and we're survivors. This wasn't our fault.
Hospital
From the initial checks/tests done on Thomas, Remi updates Paul/Chelsea that it looks like Thomas might have listeriosis, a bacterial infection and if caught it early enough after treatment, there should be no long- term effects. There is a concern that it could develop into meningitis or sepsis, which immediately concerns Paul/Chelsea, but Remi has ordered more tests on Thomas and once the results are in, treatment can accordingly begin (high dose antibiotics), which should stave off the infection within 24 hours. Remi is non- committal about what after that point, which further worries Paul/Chelsea.
Lassiters spa
Amanda, even though she is referring to a friend called 'Sarah', it is actually herself she is talking about to Sadie, and her battle with Mrs Mangel growing up and the constant put- downs she faced over her beauty until she finally stood up to her mum. The point Amanda is trying to get over to Sadie, is that life is too short to worry about what other people think, Sadie should embracer her beauty including her scars.
The pair are interrupted by Darcy who was nearby and wanted to escort Amanda home. Amanda is happy to accept his invite, she is thrilled at having met "so many wonderful people" during her short time in Erinsborough.
Number 28
Karl tries to tell Susan about what he found out about Darcy, but she is too enthralled in reading Agnes' manuscript to pay attention to him, plus she thinks Darcy had a point too over their personal relationships with the Eirini residents. "Just let it go," she pleads with him as Jane pops in with an apology gift (wine) for them.
While the ladies head outside to open the bottle of wine, Karl takes the opportunity to get from Susan's phone the telephone number for Tess Bell.
Penthouse Suite
Nell had really taken what Holly said to her and will head to school tomorrow, rather than studying from home. Toadie is thrilled with his daughter, and proud of her too.
While Toadie is chatting with Nell (and JJ), Terese takes the opportunity to call Paul and hears about Thomas being admitted to hospital.
Number 26
Wendy tries to find an alternative permanent teaching position, but whoever she was on the phone to, it's a no- go from them. She then had a brainwave and uses Andrew's login details to gain access to the police intranet to see if what vacancies there are… and wouldn't you believe it, there just so happens to be one on Murrayville! Wendy can't but call the Murrayville station to get further information on the role quick enough!
Eirini Rising (Amanda's apartment)
After escorting her home, Darcy brings up the fact Amanda called him Peter earlier and if she realised this. Amanda explains that he is always on her mind, hence the "slip of the tongue."
AMANDA: I miss my Darcy so much!
Amanda asks if Darcy can help find her BSB [Bank State Branch] number from her paperwork as Susan is after it. As Darcy begins to look thought the paperwork, Amanda says she doesn't have too much of a nest egg, but enough for a couple of years at Eirini with the odd beauty treatment thrown in. In amongst the paperwork, Darcy discovers a share certificate for 500 shares in a company called Sagekeys at the [then] current market price of $2.86… getting out his phone, Darcy discovers that the price per share is now $4,012.28 a share meaning they are now worth just over $2m instead of the $1430 when they were purchased!!!
AMANDA: Will you still like me if I'm poor?
DARCY: I like you very much!
Hospital
Terese has arrived at the hospital and gets an update from Paul/Chelsea - the tests results are back, Remi was right, Thomas does have listeriosis. The doctors are confident they have got it early enough to "avoid livelong repercussions" but the next 24 hours are crucial.
The trio go to follow Remi into the room where Thomas is, but she stops them to point out hospital policy - only 2 visitors per patient at any one time, and so Terese is left out in the corridor as the parents go into the room with Remi.
