Harold's Café
Nell tries to grab the tablet back from JJ, but he withholds it from her and demands to know what this is about.
NELL: It's just a drawing.
JJ: That's a pretty full- on drawing! Nell, can you talk to me? Were you *there* that night?
NELL: I have asked you to give me space, and you won't listen! Just back off!
Having retrieved her tablet, Nell grabs her bag and marches out.

Terese is just finishing up a phone call to Toadie when Nell comes up in the lift. But Nell is disappointed when Terese says she and Toadie have decided it would be best for Nell to wait till the end of term before rejoining the family in the US, as they have just embarked on a road trip and Toadie is worried about Nell's VCE suffering.
TERESE: I know it's not what you wanted to hear. But maybe you, me and Paul could spend time some together. Have a bit of fun, take your mind off things (...) I could book you some counselling sessions, if you like.
Keen not to show how upset she is, Nell asks if they can talk about it later. But at this point, JJ emerges from the lift, telling Terese he needs to speak to Nell. But Nell isn't keen, and Terese senses tension.
NELL: I'm actually really tired.
TERESE: Umm... yeah, it's quite late. Why don't you go home, and you can talk tomorrow?
JJ reluctantly agrees, but asks Nell to call him before leaving again.
TERESE: Hey... is everything okay with JJ? Does he have anything to do with you wanting to go away?
NELL: Can I just go to bed?
TERESE: Yeah, of course. But I'm here if you need me.
Terese looks concerned as Nell goes to her room.
The Waterhole
Leo, Krista and Byron are getting drinks when Leo's lawyer Georgia comes in; she's had a really productive call with Dr Hill, the expert witness they're hoping will testify in Leo's defence. At first glance, Dr Hill thinks there might be a case to make for Sebastian having fallen, rather than being pushed - it's all about the angle and momentum. Georgia is hoping he'll appear at the trial, but they need to meet him first.
Byron points out that even if they do get Dr Hill to testify, it's not a done deal. Georgia says it will depend on how receptive the jury is to his opinion - but this witness has had success in the past, as Byron discovered. Krista thinks it sounds positive, and Leo thanks Byron. Georgia says it could make all the difference.

When JJ arrives home, Cara is telling Dex off for not putting his bowl in the dishwasher. Dex says he's been doing what he was told - his assignment - but Remi backs Cara. Remi is still struggling with getting around after being released from hospital, and Cara tells her to take it easy. Cara seems to be in a bad mood in general, and Thomas is crying incessantly from another room due to nappy rash, adding to the tension.
JJ sees what Dex is really doing on his laptop, possibly a computer game!
JJ: Assignment, hey? (!)
DEX (closing the screen): Dude, shut up.
Remi briefly discusses Chelsea's new romance with Darcy, wondering how she'll manage it alongside everything else. Cara tersely says it's Chelsea's problem - she doesn't have the bandwidth to deal with it. Cara moans about work; HR wants all staff to be retrained on 'company values', and she's been put in charge of organising it. In addition, people are still hassling her about her source of info for her compliance drive.
Taye comes in with a dirty nappy in a bag that Chelsea has lumbered him with offscreen, and is making a big fuss about having to handle it! Unsympathetic, Cara tells him to put it in the bin. Dex notices that JJ is looking worried and asks if he's okay. He insists he's fine.
The Waterhole
Leo and Krista are talking about the expert witness, Dr Hill - apparently he's very well respected, but Leo fears it might sound too good to be true.
KRISTA: It's okay to feel hopeful, Leo.
LEO: Yeah. I just... I can't believe this whole time we thought it could've been someone else, when... maybe Seb did just trip and fall.

It's night, and everyone seems to have gone to bed except JJ, who is desperately worried about Nell. We see he has been messaging her, asking her to call him, but getting no response. He sends a fourth message - 'Please call me, I'm worried.'

Nell is the only person awake here, too. She's on the balcony, sketching on her tablet again - adding more detail to the image of her pushing Seb. She becomes tearful.

The next day, Nell is walking past the centre on her way to school when JJ rushes to catch up with her.
JJ: Nell... I don't understand what's going on, alright? You don't seem okay. I'm getting really worried - can you just talk to me, please?
NELL: It's not gonna make a difference.
JJ: What does that mean? This obviously has something to do with your drawings.
NELL: You don't want to know. Trust me.
JJ: Look, we can work it out together, alright? We're a team.
Nell drags JJ aside to avoid passers- by overhearing.
NELL: You can't say anything to anyone.
JJ: Okay, I won't. I promise.
NELL: The night before Grandpa's funeral... I couldn't sleep, so I went for a walk.
JJ: That was the night Seb died, right?
NELL (nods, tearful): I was walking by the lake, and I heard someone calling out for Fallon...
We get a flashback to the night in question. Nell is walking alongside the lake near the rotunda area, and a clearly drunken Seb is following her, apparently mistaking her for Fallon from behind. Nell is rattled, and when she doesn't respond to his calls, Seb lunges at her and grabs her. Terrified, Nell pushes him to the ground and runs off. In the present...
NELL (crying): All I know is that some drunk guy grabbed me, and I pushed him off.
We now see the push from a different angle. What Nell doesn't see, as she runs away, is that Seb has hit his head on a bench - and a few moments later, rolls off the pathway and into the lake. In voiceover...
NELL: I didn't know it was him. And I didn't think about it again until I got back, and I heard everyone talking about it. I realised he must've stumbled - hit his head - and fallen into the water.
We see a closeup of DeadSeb™ floating in the lake! Back in the present...
NELL (crying): I killed Sebastian. What's gonna happen to me?
JJ: ...
Harold's Café
Leo and Krista come in for a meeting with Georgia and Byron, who have managed to secure a meeting with Dr Hill this afternoon, and Byron is redoing their pre- trial preparation based on this new strategy. Leo and Krista express their gratitude again.
LEO: Honestly, it's the first time I've felt like I might actually have a chance.
Krista gets a phone call - we see on the screen that the caller is 'Stan M'. She ignores it.
KRISTA: It's Seb's dad.
LEO: What would he want?
KRISTA: I dunno... It's alright, I'll call him back later.
Leo looks concerned.

Nell tells JJ that she knows it's weird she hadn't said anything till now - but with the funeral and the holiday to the States, she just needed to put the altercation out of her mind. She didn't know that Seb had died until she got back from the holiday.
JJ: Nell, that's... that's really full- on.
NELL (crying): I just want to go see my dad. He'll know what to do.
JJ: That's why you wanted to leave.
NELL: I can't stay here. I feel so bad for all the trouble Leo is in, and I can't handle it.
JJ: Have you thought about talking to Terese? You know, she can protect you and work out a plan.
NELL: No. She can't help Leo, and he's innocent. How can she help me if I'm actually guilty?
JJ: Yeah, but that was an accident. Or at least self- defence, yeah? It wasn't, like, proper murder.
NELL: No, I can't. They'll put me in jail. I know they will.
JJ: No, it's okay. We'll sort it out, alright? It'll be okay.
Lassiter's Complex
Taye is helping Holly take supplies to the drinks van, as an excuse to get out of the chaos at No 30. They see Cara approaching with Sam, and Taye admits he's keen not to be seen with Cara in public.
Cara is moaning to Sam that only 10 percent of the hotel staff have started the training she's been tasked with organising, and only 5 percent have finished it, despite it having to be done by the end of the week.
SAM: People are busy.
CARA: Yeah, I know. I mean, tell me about it. But there's another problem. You know that the staff are using Lassiter's loyalty points to book into other hotels? (...) It's just another problem to stamp out. I'm sick of being the bad guy.
As Sam and Cara reach the van, Taye interjects, having overheard some of their conversation.
TAYE: At least you're copping it for things you've actually done. Everyone thinks I'm dobbing them in to you.
SAM: Aren't you?
TAYE: Can you just send out a memo or something, to say it's not me?
CARA (unsympathetic): You'll be fine.
Cara and Sam go on their way. Holly feels guilty for being Cara's real mole.
Back in the courtyard, JJ strikes up a conversation with Byron, having heard that he's working on Leo's case, and casually attempts to ask about his progress. Byron says the case is 'challenging' but that they're feeling confident.
JJ: Right, so you reckon Leo's gonna get off, or...
BYRON: That's the hope.
JJ: Right. Are you going for, like, a... a self- defence type argument, or...?
BYRON: It doesn't really apply to Leo's situation, since he wasn't there when Seb fell in the water.
JJ: Right. But you could argue that, though, right? Like, if... if Seb were to startle Leo, and he pushed him away, right? If Seb then fell into the lake and drowned, that... that wouldn't be murder.
BYRON (confused): I... suppose not, if that's what we thought happened... But just between you and me, we're trying to prove that Seb fell over and hit his head.
JJ: Oh. I didn't know it could go down like that.
BYRON: Yeah, no - tragic things can happen, and sometimes it's no one's fault. Hey, why are you so interested in the case?
JJ: Oh, I'm just... just really worried about Leo.
Byron seems to accept this, and goes on his way.
Lassiter's On Tap
At the drinks van, Sam is picking up a tray of drinks, and appears to snub Taye's offer of helping to take them back to the hotel, making him further suspect that she thinks he's been feeding info on staff noncompliance to Cara. At this point Cara herself turns up, and demands that they all help her encourage the staff to complete their training. But Sam walks off, Holly says she's too busy and...
TAYE: Seriously? People will *really* think I'm in your pocket if I do that.
CARA (sarcastic): Oh, well, great. Thanks for your help.
Krista turns up, and Cara starts moaning to her about how she's struggling to get the staff to do the training. Krista suggests that Cara just let HR know if anyone's causing problems, but Cara admits she's not keen on passing names to HR.
KRISTA: Well, then, you'll have to deal with it yourself.
CARA: Well, that's the thing. Between the retraining and the missing loyalty points and my normal job, I'm stretched really thin.
KRISTA: I thought you told Paul that you could handle it.
CARA: Uh, yeah. I just don't think I realised how many issues there were to look into. I think we should hire a consultant for the compliance stuff.
But Krista says it's an unnecessary expense, and is in any case distracted by a notification coming through on her phone. Seb's dad Stan has left her a voicemail. Saying she's unable to deal with Cara's issue right now, Krista asks her to talk to Paul about it, and walks off. Cara looks annoyed.
Lassiter's Complex
Outside the hotel, Leo and Terese are discussing progress on the forensics expert. Krista joins them, and conversation turns to an Easter egg hunt that Abigail is looking forward to.
Nell is passing and gets dragged into the conversation. It turns out Krista and Leo have managed to get Nell two tickets for a special anime screening. It seems they've been feeling bad about Nell having to live with Leo's legal drama, especially having just lost her grandad. Surprised, Nell is thankful for the gesture and Krista tells her to enjoy it.
LEO: And please know that anything, anytime, we're here for you, okay?
Nell smiles, but is now feeling even guiltier about her secret...
Lassiter's On Tap
Taye is still helping out at the drinks van when he gets a 'narky email' from Cara, demanding that he do the training. Holly has had the same email, and thinks they'll have to do it now.
TAYE: You know Sam thinks I'm the snitch? And Cara couldn't care less if everyone at work hates me.
HOLLY: ... Well, to be fair, she seems pretty stressed out about work herself.
TAYE: Well, it's her own fault. No sympathy over here.
Holly gets a photo message from Max, who is relaxing at home by the pool with a cocktail.
TAYE: Lucky for some. I'd trade Thomas and Cara for a few hours in an empty house with an umbrella drink.
Holly points out that Taye's shift doesn't start for a while - she could text Max and tell him Taye is coming over for a swim. Taye seems keen at this, and Holly tells him to forget about Cara.

Taye gets home to find Remi on her own; the boys are at school, Cara's out, and Chelsea's on a date with Darcy.
REMI: I know it's been mad here lately, but you know I love you living with us, right?
TAYE: It's pretty good. I guess.
Remi suggests they play a bit of poker. Taye explains he was just on his way to Max's for a swim... but feeling bad for leaving Remi in the lurch, he decides to stay and play poker after all.
TAYE: You know what? That sounds great.
REMI: Really? I'm gonna whoop you, kid!
Lassiter's Complex
JJ is reporting to Nell that Byron seemed confident Leo won't be convicted.
NELL: But it shouldn't *be* him. It should be me.
JJ: Look, I know you feel really bad about Leo. But this whole thing might just go away. Maybe Terese and your dad are right. You can stay here, not mess up your VCE... Leo goes free, and it's all over.
NELL: Which also makes me the worst person in the world.
JJ: No. No, it doesn't. Just, this way, your dad doesn't have to know, right? And then Seb's death gets ruled an accident, and everybody gets on with their life.
NELL: So I just stay quiet until Leo's proven innocent?
JJ: I mean, maybe, yeah.
Terese turns up, and Nell tells her she and Toadie might've been right about her not missing school - so she'll stay here and see how things go. JJ smiles, and Terese says that's probably for the best. JJ and Nell head back to school, Nell still looking unsure about things.

Remi and Taye are playing poker - and Remi trounces Taye with a straight flush! They seem to be playing with dried beans as currency, and Taye throws a faux- strop because he's lost, throwing some of the beans around for fun. Cara comes in with Dex at this point, and doesn't look pleased about the 'mess'.
DEX: Ooh, can I play?
CARA (tersely): No, you can't.
TAYE: Watch out, it's Compliance Cara!
CARA: Can you not? That is so juvenile.
REMI: Okay, you two - okay.
CARA: I'm home because we have to have a really hard chat with Dex about how much he's been gaming.
REMI: Ah. Yes. We do.
Dex worriedly closes his laptop in the background!
CARA: And I've had a really trying day with work - which, Taye, you haven't made any easier. And now, there's this mess.
TAYE: It's not just me. I'm playing with your wife, if you haven't noticed.
CARA: But she can't clean it up, and you won't. So guess who gets to pick up after everyone yet again?
TAYE: Oh, just relax for a minute! You're ruining the vibe!
CARA: Are you serious?! This is my house, so I'll have whatever vibe I like. Especially with a freeloader.
REMI: Cara!
TAYE: That's how it is? Freeloading?! I am so done with this place. I'm moving out.
At which announcement, Cara looks quite pleased! But Remi looks really upset.
Lassiter's Complex
Leo is with Krista, and anxiously awaiting news from Georgia about the forensics expert.
KRISTA: Whatever happens, it's always gonna be you and me.
But at this point, Krista recognises a man lurking nearby - it's Seb's dad, Stan.
STAN (to Krista): Why are you ignoring my calls? What, you're too busy to talk about my dead son?! I thought he was your friend?
KRISTA: I... I'm...
STAN: He needed you, but you didn't give a damn!
LEO: No, mate, that's not fair. This isn't on Krista.
STAN (yelling at Leo): How dare you speak to me?! I know you're the one who murdered my son!
LEO: No - no, I didn't. I promise...
STAN: Then you're also a liar!
KRISTA: Stan, can we just sit and talk about this, please?
STAN: I'm gonna make your life hell!
LEO: Excuse me?
STAN: You heard me. If it's the last thing I do, I'm gonna make sure you lose everything you've ever cared about.
Leo looks worried.
