- JJ curious how Harold and ghostly Madge are getting on with each other.
- JJ working out that Agnes and Madge are related but she wants that kept quiet.
- Paul decrying Darcy to Chelsea.
- Darcy calling in the favour Karl owes him.
- Tension between Terese/Chelsea.
- Chelsea denying she is deliberately winding Terese up.
- Darcy realising a deal can be made with Terese.
Number 22
The deal Darcy is offering Terese is the inside to what Chelsea is thinking/doing. However, Terese not interested in doing a deal with Darcy especially as she thinks Karl doesn't want a job share either.
Eirini Rising (Agnes' apartment)
Susan, Karl, Paul and Harold officially welcome ghostly Madge to Eirini Rising. Paul, like everyone else, can't believe the resemblance Agnes has to Madge, especially as the pair are officially related too, with Hilary redrafting the family tree Paul informs us.
After Paul heads off (to see where Terese is), Susan can tell something is bothering Harold and right enough there is, and he will feel better once he gets something off his chest, which entails them heading to #28.
Penthouse suite
Terese doesn't look too impressed to see Chelsea (and Thomas) there waiting for Paul to return from Eirini and thankfully his arrival home stops the (proverbial) handbags being primed and readied! Immediately though, Paul just about bypasses Terese and makes a beeline instead for Thomas, causing Terese to get in some eyerolling as Paul/Chelsea chat about the wee toot. In desperation, Terese even tries to tempt Paul with an early night, but it is 1- 0 to Chelsea as she trumps Terese's offer by suggesting to Paul that he gives Thomas his bottle!
Number 28
What was bothering Harold is that he plans to leave and head to Queensland for good - Sky and Lana have built a grandad flat for him their back garden! The K's are shocked at the news and Harold admits, its weird being around ghostly Madge and wanted Agnes settled in before breaking the news in case she thought he was doing a runner because of him! Harold wants to be around his family, especially his growing great grandchildren, and shocks the K's by announcing he's leaving tomorrow!
Number 22 (next day)
Terese is now ready to do a deal with Darcy, the proviso being Karl has got to agree, and it is only while he needs the help. She does seem unimpressed Darcy hasn't got anything to tell her yet about Chelsea, but promises to immediately pass anything on to her.
TERESE: And this is just between us two, right?!
Eirini Rising (outside)
The Kennedys are telling Paul the news about Harold leaving when Terese arrives with Darcy and announces, subject to Karl giving his approval, that Darcy will be part of the team! "I think that's a wonderful idea," is Karl's response, whilst Paul is the opposite!
Eirini Rising (inside)
Terese is half apologising, half explaining things as she leads Paul and the K's into the office. She assumed that if Karl was happy, everyone else would be but that rationale just ends up with Paul blaming him for Darcy being employed! Karl did think that there'd be more discussion before something happened and eventually, Terese explains, the residents like Darcy and think they will be happy that the medical support will be back up to the previous level. Their chat though is suddenly interrupted when Jane bursts in having heard the news about Harold, which is news to Terese.
Eirini Rising (Harold's apartment)
Ghosty Madge can't believe that Harold is leaving especially since they both wanted to know each other more, however Harold has a solution - snail mail where they can write to each other. She does seem upset that he is leaving, but he reassures her that she will be fine in Eirini and can be looked on as a new beginning for both of them.
Eirini Rising (outside)
Paul and Terese are just about ready to call a truce [over Darcy] to plan Harold's farewell when they spot Chelsea arriving - Darcy invited her for coffee to help keep his side of the deal with Terese up. This is subtly done as well as informing him to see Susan to complete the paperwork.
Chelsea does seem surprised to get his call to have coffee, but his reply is she is his only friend! Darcy hopes that Paul isn't going to put a spanner in his plans, although it seems Chelsea is working on Paul from the other side and adds in that she thinks Paul is jealous.
As the K's exit the building, Susan admits its going to take time to see Darcy working alongside Karl again and after spotting him, they head over. Susan apologises for her reaction on hearing he was joining the team (it's been a 24 hours of sudden announcements!) and Karl doesn't seem too impressed at Darcy wanting to call the shots over drawing up a rota either.
Number 28
The house is being readied for an impromptu farewell to Harold although everyone is rather down in the dumps as they get ready for it, especially so the K's in the kitchen doing the food.
Meanwhile Jane has sussed out there is more to Darcy's employment and Terese half caves in, when she concedes that its will be good to have him around whilst he/Chelsea are friendly.
Max and Aaron have barely got the farewell banner up when Paul leads the guest of honour into the house.
SUSAN: We couldn't let you go without some sort of celebration!
Harold looks very touched at what has been organised and Susan is labelling it as "new beginnings all around," and Harold suddenly wants someone else to join them.
Number 22
Chelsea and Thomas are obviously not invited to the farewell lunch for Harold or maybe it was because she accepted Darcy's offer beforehand, that she is at #22 for lunch rather than #28. She has an idea for him tyring to raise money via a public investor session instead, which is something Darcy hadn't considered before. He is very grateful to her, and compliments Chelsea on her smartness and her attractiveness! While she isn't offended by his 'attractiveness' comment, when he does to kiss her, Chelsea quickly moves back and starts talking about the public investor session instead.
Number 28
The gathered are making small talk with Harold, and breaking it that Gino's arranged another farewell at Eirini, when ghostly Madge arrives, even if she feels "like a gate crasher!"
HAROLD: Think of it as a pensioner swap! Ramsay Street loses me and gains you!
Paul brings up that Agnes' cousin Madge lived in the street and she confesses to trying to guess which house as she was heading to #24.
Number 24
Jane opens her house so Harold can show to ghostly Madge where he lived with the living Madge back in the day. "It must hold a lot of special memories," she says to Harold while having a gander at the place. We then see some of those memories via a flashback - Harold's first visit to #24 and seeing Madge (and Charlene) dressed as clowns. When back to the present day, Agnes can see his memory was off somewhere and so he mentions Madge was a clown before continuing on with his story.
The next set of flashbacks is to Harold/Madge [fully] reconnecting, then getting married. We see the pair argue and her throw his ring into Lassiters Lake before him entering the water to try and retrieve it! Then it's a lovely Christmas for the pair before the sadness of Madge passing away.
Back with the present, and Agnes thanks Harold for taking her to #24. "You're family now," he reminds her, something the house "has stood for."
Number 28
Harold and Agnes return as the others have been looking through the Ramsay Street history book and we see pics of Harold dancing with Mrs Mangel before a flashback to that episode... where the pair [due to them drunk dancing] ended up on the sofa at #32 with Harold on top of her and being 'caught' by Madge and Jane!!
PAUL: She was your second biggest partner in crime, wasn't she?
Max asks who the first was and Susan immediately says Lou Carpenter and we see a flashback of Lou ending up in the pool at #24! We hear that Lou has made plans to meet up with Harold in Port Douglas.
KARL: Lou and Harold reunited, just as it should be!
Aaron spots the photo of the Erinsborough Festival and Paul reminds everyone that is the day Harold almost crashed his campervan into Harold's!
HAROLD: I regret to say he's not exaggerating!
And the next flashback is to that scene, with the original ghostly Madge sitting in the passenger seat saying her infamous "oh Harold!" phrase before asking what has he done!
Max is curious to know if he really could see Madge and the reply is "it wasn't to be the last time...apparently" and he then looks directly at the current ghostly Madge!
AGNES: You really have had the most interesting life in Erinsborough!
HAROLD: Oh yes, interesting is one word for it. Privileged I think is better.
As more flashbacks appear onscreen [Harold declaring his love for Madge; Madge throwing a bucket of water over Harold and Lou; Madge finding 'Ted'; Harold being there to witness granddaughter Sky giving birth to great granddaughter Kerry; Harold having a picnic with son David, his wife Liljana and granddaughter Serena and Sky; walking daughter Kerry down the aisle as she was about to marry Joe; Harold spending time with the dying Madge; Lou very grateful for the kidney Harold has just donated to him as they lie in their hospital beds; Harold taking off for Queensland the first time and saying bye to the neighbours] we hear Harold's thoughts:
HAROLD: Almost 40 years ago, I arrived in this street. I came in search of a lost love and not only did I find her but I ended up making the best possible friends a man could ever have... really! Oh, there have been good times but there have been incredibly sad times too. But even in my darkest hours, I was never alone. This has been more than a street for me, you see. And you've been more than neighbours. My life has been enriched by knowing every one of you. You will all... always be in my heart. Always.
Number 22
Paul doesn't look too amused at seeing Thomas in Darcy's arms when he (and Terese) drop by to get a photo of the wee toot for Harold. It turns into a bit of a standoff between Paul wanting Thomas and Darcy unwilling to hand him over as he's apparently just settled. It then continues to Paul v Chelsea as he is peeved she didn't take his warning about Darcy seriously and in turn, she reminds Paul about Terese hiring Darcy!
PAUL: He's obviously a very convincing actor, isn't he?!
CHELSEA: Or maybe you're the one who's not seeing things clearly for some unknown reason!
Paul confesses he's biting his tongue as he told Chelsea he didn't want Darcy anywhere near Thomas. Nonchalantly, Chelsea is sorry to hear he feels that way... and then announces that the pair of them are seeing each other! Darcy looks shocked to be dragged into this as she tells Paul he will simply have to "deal with it!"
