The Waterhole
We pick up where we left off, and Max's spiked drink is sitting on the bar, so far untouched, as Max, Holly, Sadie and Aaron play darts. Sadie isn't doing very well.
MAX: It's actually wild that they let you handle a piercing gun.
Sadie retorts that when her dad turns up he'll 'wipe the floor' with Max; she's invited Andrew to join them because he was moping about his non- refundable Valentine's Day dinner. Meanwhile, Holly asks Aaron if he and Rhett are truly over. Aaron confirms he got the timing wrong, but Holly encourages him not to give up.
AARON: No, no, no - I'm moving on.
HOLLY: Well, whatever. You're a grade- A hottie - you'll be snapped up in no time. Not that being single isn't awesome too.
Byron turns up, fresh from his stressful day at Yorokobi. Max offers the whisky he bought earlier to Byron, but Sadie takes the glass off Max and puts it back on the bar, as it's his turn at darts; so Aaron goes to buy Byron a fresh drink instead. The camera closes in on the spiked whisky...

Jane and Sam are watching a movie on the couch, but Jane receives a message on her phone from Clint: 'Just clocking on for another long, lonely night shift at Eirini...' Noticing Jane's distracted, Sam asks if she needs to do some work. Jane says she'd rather watch the movie, but isn't very convincing.
SAM: You can go if you want. I don't mind.
JANE: Really?
SAM: You've already seen it. Go.
Jane decides she will go, and tells Sam she won't be long, before grabbing her coat and leaving the house.
Eirini Rising
Clint is in the storeroom when Jane comes in.
JANE: You know, health and safety regulations say scheduled breaks are very important.
CLINT: But I still have so much work to do on Apartment 304!
JANE: You are so dedicated! I've always said that many hands make light work. But we have to be quiet this time.
CLINT: Well, you can try your best.
Clint takes Jane by the hand and leads her off towards the vacant apartment...
The Waterhole
Andrew has joined Max, Aaron, Sadie, Byron and Holly, and is showing off his darts skills. They decide to play pool instead. Max notices that someone has put a cocktail cherry in his (still untouched) whisky. Sadie admits the cherry was in her Mai Tai and she didn't want it - but Max decides he can no longer drink the single malt now it's been sullied by the cherry.
He offers the drink to everyone else instead, and Holly accepts. But she then gets a call from Karl and Susan, so goes outside to answer it - taking the whisky with her. Max watches Holly fondly as she goes.
Lassiter's Complex
Holly is on a bench outside the pub, talking to Karl on the phone. She advises him to 'listen to Susan and the doctors', then tells him she loves him before ending the call.
Max comes to join her, having brought Holly's jacket out so she doesn't get cold. He sits right next to her on the bench and they chat about how Melbourne is colder than what Max is used to in Queensland.
HOLLY: You'll get used to it, once you learn a few tricks to stay warm.
Holly's about to take a sip of the whisky, but stops when Max thanks her for looking out for him earlier with Kasey.
HOLLY: Of course. Who else would keep me warm?
MAX: Do you have any... other tips for that?
They lean in, about to kiss one another, but just before they do, Max backs out and says they should head inside, as it's Holly's turn at pool! Holly looks disappointed, and then confused as Max awkwardly gets up and walks back inside.
Eirini Rising
Jane and Clint are curled up in bed together in Apartment 304 following a passionate tryst.
JANE: You know, if I close my eyes, I can almost imagine that Apartment 304 is a gamekeeper's hut in the woods.
CLINT (chuckles): Oliver Mellors, at your service.
JANE: And just like Lady Chatterley... soon, I have to slip away.
CLINT: No, not yet.
JANE: I wouldn't want to worry Sam.
CLINT: If you have to go, of course.
JANE: Although, she was fine about me leaving. Nicolette and Isla are home.
CLINT: So... you could stay a little longer?
JANE: Oh, I really shouldn't...
CLINT: 'A woman has to live her life, or live to repent not having lived it.'
JANE: You know, using DH Lawrence quotations against me is a very low blow!
CLINT: Well, that's what you get for mixing with the common folk. We have no restraint.
He kisses her.
JANE: Oh, maybe just five more minutes.
They slip under the sheets together, giggling.
The Waterhole
Andrew, Aaron, Max and Byron are still in the pub playing pool, while Holly and Sadie watch. Holly still has the whisky which is still (amazingly) undrunk! Everyone is joking about Byron having good luck at pool because of the bird poo incident at Yorokobi, but he loses the game nonetheless.
Sadie asks Holly how Karl and Susan are doing. Holly says they're fine, and Sadie offers to buy Holly another drink so she can dispense with Max's whisky and the 'rank hand- me- down cherry'. But Holly says she's going to switch to water - and passes the spiked whisky to Aaron, promising him she hasn't touched it. Undeterred by the cherry garnish, Aaron begins to drink as ominous music plays...
Lassiter's Complex
Holly and Sadie come out of the pub for a breather. Sadie asks what's going on with Holly and Max.
SADIE: You were flirting with him. And don't deny it - because you went outside, and then you came back, and you were all weird.
Holly explains that Max brought her jacket out for her, and that they almost kissed - but then Max pulled away at the last second.
HOLLY: Which means... I don't even know what it means! That he doesn't like me anymore, or that I was being, like, messy instead of adorably tipsy?
SADIE: Maybe he was just respecting your wishes? You know, you two just being friends? Isn't that what you wanted anyway?
HOLLY: Exactly! It should have been me who pushed *him* away. I'm the one who set the boundaries, so if I took them away and he doesn't want me, then there must be something wrong with me. Smell my breath.
SADIE: Your breath - it's fine.
HOLLY: Well then, why didn't he kiss me? Because I'm pretty sure that he wanted to.
Sadie laughs, reminding Holly that a few hours ago she was insisting she wasn't jealous of Kasey. Holly insists that she's not, but Sadie is sceptical.
SADIE: Holly - do you want to be with Max or not?
HOLLY: Maybe... no! I don't know. This is such a mess!
Eirini Rising
Jane and Clint sneak out of the building and into the courtyard. He offers to escort her home before returning to work, but Jane says it isn't necessary. They compromise on him walking her to the car!
JANE: You know, tonight was really special.
CLINT: Mm. Having to stay quiet only increased the fun.
JANE: You did very well, by the way.
CLINT: You, on the other hand...
JANE: Well, I was being sabotaged! Repeatedly!
Jane admits she's starting to see the benefits of Clint working at Eirini; they agree they're far less likely to be caught by a student or staff member (than at the school, presumably!) They kiss, and head to the car park.
Meanwhile, we see Jasmine Stewart walking out of Eirini, looking a little furtive. She's still wearing her school uniform and backpack despite the late hour - and some underscore of Intrigue™ tells us we should wonder what she's up to...
The Waterhole
Andrew is heading home, and offers everyone else a lift back to Ramsay Street. Byron, Holly, Sadie and Max take him up on the offer - but Aaron is in an odd mood, and annoyed that everyone is leaving. He tries to convince them to stay for more drinks, slurring his words, and we see from his perspective that his surroundings look blurry and his hearing's distorted.
Aaron wants to stay for food, and insists on looking at the menu even after being told the kitchen's closed. Max tries to persuade him to come home and get something to eat there, but Aaron angrily stands his ground. Andrew gives him a last chance to come back with them but Aaron grumpily calls them 'pikers', and remains at the bar alone as the others leave.
However, shortly afterwards, he appears to feel unwell, grabs his jacket and heads for the door himself, evidently struggling to walk in a straight line, and stumbling into bar stools before eventually reaching the exit...

Jane arrives back home, looking pleased with herself. She thinks she's alone at first, until Sam pops up from the sofa, remarking that Jane's back late. Looking guilty, Jane says she was longer than she thought she'd be. Sam heads to bed, and Jane bids her goodnight.
Eirini Rising
Clint locks the main doors into the building, having finished his shift, and begins to head towards his car. Nearby, Aaron is walking along the middle of the road, extremely spaced out and his vision still blurred; a car's horn blares at him as it drives by. As Clint opens his car, Aaron walks straight into the open door.
CLINT: Woah, watch it.
AARON: You watch it!
CLINT: Yeah, alright, mate. Sorry.
AARON: Ha! I know you.
CLINT: Uh, I don't think so.
AARON (slurred): Yeah. Yeah, we've met.
CLINT: No, we haven't. Just... just calm down, yeah?
AARON (slurred): No, I'm fine. How are you feeling?
Aaron looks as if he's about to faint, and Clint steps towards him, asking if he's okay - causing Aaron to shout 'get off!' and wildly swing his fist in Clint's direction. He misses, and then staggers off...
The next morning, Andrew is attending Eirini Rising in his uniform. Terese is telling him about the disappearance of around 20 bottles of floor cleaner from the storeroom, saying she can't take any chances with the history of thefts at Eirini.
TERESE: It's an organic, hypoallergenic product. We pay a premium for it; it's actually really expensive.
ANDREW: Hmm. Was the storeroom door locked?
TERESE: Uh, it's supposed to be. Look, I'm sorry - I just thought maybe you could take note of it, just in case things escalate.
Andrew agrees, and says he'll ask around, and that they can make it official if anything else goes missing.
ANDREW: Hey, I'm actually glad you called. Wendy suggested that I ask you something (...) I got these great tickets for Valentine's Day dinner at Yorokobi, and they can't be refunded. I'd hate for them to go to waste. With Wendy away, and Paul away... I thought maybe we could go together?
Terese hesitates, a bit surprised, but then eventually says that would be lovely.
ANDREW: I mean, if it's not too strange.
TERESE: No! I mean, it's strange, but it's not *that* strange. It'll be fun.

Sadie is looking for her namebadge for work when Byron comes in. He's bought her a bacon and egg role for Valentine's breakfast, which earns him a kiss. Holly turns up just as they're leaving for work - but she's here to see Max, who emerges from the bathroom, preparing to leave for the garage himself.
HOLLY: I just wanted to apologise for making things weird last night. Especially after my big thing about us being friends.
MAX: I reckon we were both being a little weird.
HOLLY: I was definitely the weirdest, with that big lean- in.
MAX: Yeah, right after my 'here's your jacket' move. I think we're even.
HOLLY: (...) I'm just a little bit confused as to why we didn't go there. Because I was ready to, and I thought that you were, too. Unless I was mistaken.
MAX: You weren't (...) Look, seeing Kasey made me realise what's at stake here. And I want to keep you away from trouble - like, *way* away. And I think you made the right call, you know, being friends? It keeps you safe, and that's what's most important.
HOLLY: It's gonna be a lot easier to be your friend if you stop being so nice.
MAX: I can be a jerk!
HOLLY: Mm, would you mind?
MAX: I can be a jerk for you.
He smiles at her fondly.
Eirini Rising
Jane is coming through the Adjoining Door™ from the school into the Eirini Rising courtyard. She's surprised to see Andrew talking to Clint and Terese some distance away; they're discussing the disappearing floor cleaner. Clint says he doesn't remember whether the bottles were there when he left, and that he thinks he locked the storeroom behind him but can't be sure. Jane comes over to join them.
JANE: Did something happen?
TERESE: Just some more late- night antics, it seems.
JANE (worried): Possums again?
TERESE: No, Jane, I don't think they were possums. No, someone's been stealing the floor cleaner, of all things.
Apparently relieved it's not about noises from Apartment 304, Jane declares 'thank goodness!' which leaves Terese looking puzzled!
JANE (covering): I mean, thank goodness that it wasn't anything more serious!
Andrew asks about the possums, and Terese explains how the residents have been complaining of strange noises from Apartment 304 - but she doesn't think it was anything to worry about. Andrew tells her to keep him in the loop, and heads off, promising to see her for the Valentine's dinner. Terese rushes off too to take a call from Paul, leaving Jane and Clint to talk alone.
JANE: Do you think this happened while we were... occupied?
CLINT: Yeah, apparently. I don't think I locked the storeroom (...) Well, I was being distracted at the time.
JANE: We need to find somewhere new.
CLINT: Yes, my ladyship.
JANE: I'm serious. Anyway, who would steal cleaning supplies?
CLINT: Oh, you'd be surprised. I worked at this one place where somebody took all the computer cables. It was just weird. Actually, I did run into this guy when I was leaving. He was obviously drunk, and just hanging around. I mean, he might've had something to do with it.
Jane suggests that whatever he can think of, he should let Terese know.
Power Road
Aaron wakes up on the grass behind The 82, feeling very out of sorts. Gradually he gets to his feet and begins staggering about again. He walks onto Power Road, straight into the path of an oncoming car - and Jasmine, who is walking by, shouts at Aaron to look out. He dives out of the way of the car just in time, and stumbles into some of the outdoor seating at the tram.
Jasmine asks Aaron if he's alright, but he simply ignores her and staggers off again...
Ramsay Street
Aaron's vision is still blurred as he reaches the street; by this point he only has one shoe. He looks across blearily at No 24, before heading instead to No 32, his former home, and makes his way through the side gate into the back garden.
No 32
Apparently relieved to see the spa, Aaron climbs into the water fully clothed, perhaps to cool off. But his eyelids flicker, and he falls asleep, before beginning to sink into the water...
