Clint is equally surprised to learn that Jane is the school principal; it becomes evident that they never discussed their careers in detail during their dates. Seeing she's been cleaning the toilets, he offers to take over, but she says she's fixed the issue.
CLINT: I suppose I should call you 'boss' now!
JANE: ...

Isla and Abigail are dressed in their uniforms after their first day at school, and Aaron, Nicolette, Leo and Krista are taking photos of them. They seem to be having a little party for the occasion, and they've made cupcakes for the girls. Krista acknowledges, though, that the day is bittersweet.
AARON: Yeah. It wasn't easy sending Isla off this morning without David.
LEO: Yeah, it's hard thinking about Britney too.
KRISTA: Lot of milestones this week.
They discuss plans for commemorating David tomorrow; currently the plan is to go with Paul's idea of a picnic. Aaron thought it was fine when he suggested it, but now he's wondering whether it's really enough. Leo's very quiet and Krista asks him what he thinks.
LEO: I'm happy to go with the flow.
Jane comes in and, not saying a word to anyone, goes straight for the fridge, takes out a bottle of white wine and pours herself a very large glass!
NICOLETTE: Mum, are you okay?
JANE (taking a sip): Fine.

Sebastian is using a laptop on the sofa and claims to be researching universities in Sydney, while Krista prepares a meal. Leo comes in having dropped Abi at the penthouse with Paul. Krista tells Leo that Seb is looking at unis.
SEBASTIAN: It's a good idea, but... nothing really appeals.
KRISTA: Really? That's a shame.
SEBASTIAN: Besides, I kind of want to stay here. Try for a hotel career.
LEO: I thought you were done with hospitality?
SEBASTIAN: Done with the café. Katrina Marshall said there was a job at the Piano Bar. Said that you were creating a new manager position.
Krista confirms this, but looks sceptical, and Leo says Seb doesn't have any management experience.
SEBASTIAN: Well, I've spent half my life in bars. And I did once hop on a piano. Correction - you dragged me up there with you.
Krista throws a lump of carrot at him! Leo reminds Seb he just lost a job for not taking it seriously. Krista agrees, saying Seb would need to change his attitude - and that she thinks HR should handle the application rather than her.
KRISTA: But, I'll help you with your résumé.
Once Krista's out of the room, Seb takes the chance for a dig at Leo.
SEBASTIAN: Maybe you and Nicolette haven't seen the last of me yet.
Leo looks worried as he realises Seb is onto him!

Jane has been telling Nicolette and Aaron about the fact that Clint is the new school cleaner. Nicolette admits it's unexpected, but says it's not a dealbreaker.
JANE: He is an employee.
NICOLETTE: You told me that Curtis hired him.
AARON: Yeah. And he's not a teacher, so you're not exactly his boss.
JANE: Still, there's a... a power imbalance. I am the school principal, and I have a reputation to protect.
AARON (laughs): Have you gone off him because he's a cleaner?
JANE: No. What, are you suggesting that I'm a snob?
NICOLETTE: Well, aren't you?!
JANE: No! No, I would never judge someone because of what they did for a job.
But Nicolette and Aaron look sceptical. Conversation turns to Yasmine; Jane asks if Andrew has given Nicolette any more updates, but she replies that he hasn't. Jane says she saw Holly at the complex this morning, who still seemed to be doing it tough.
AARON: Nic, maybe you could share your secret with her.
NICOLETTE: ... What do you mean?
AARON: Well, I mean, you seem to have moved on. Whatever worked for you, maybe you should share it with Holly.
Nicolette forces a smile...

Holly is watering plants in the garden when Nicolette shows up with a box of cupcakes left over from the tea party for Isla and Abi. Holly suggests Nicolette stay and have a cake with her, but Nic says she's 'cupcaked out' and prepares to leave.
HOLLY: Hey, umm... do you think that the police will ever find Yaz?
NICOLETTE: ... America's such a big place, and... Max did turn out to be okay, so maybe it's not a priority for them.
HOLLY: Even so, she still has it in for me.
But unwilling to wade into it, Nicolette makes the excuse that she needs to get back for Isla's bedtime.
NICOLETTE: I know that it's hard, but... try not to think about it.
Nicolette is smiling oddly, and Holly looks a bit confused by her behaviour as she leaves.
Erinsborough High School
Clint comes to see Jane in the principal's office at her request. He suggests a coffee before they start the day, but Jane tells him that she can't.
JANE: I wanted to tell you that... we can't see each other anymore.
CLINT: Are you serious?
JANE: I just think it's a conflict of interest.
CLINT: Jane, I know yesterday was a bit of a shock, to the both of us. But we're not breaking any rules, are we?
JANE: It's a... it's a grey area. I am the school principal; I need to hold myself up to a very high standard. And it's just not appropriate for me to be dating staff.
CLINT: I see. You, umm... really can't make an exception, this one time?
JANE: No.
CLINT: Had to ask.
JANE: And I also think that you should work evening shifts only. That way we won't see each other, and no one will find out about... us.
CLINT: If that's what you want.
JANE: I just want everything to be above board. You understand?
CLINT: ... Take care, Jane.
Disappointed, Clint gets up and leaves. Jane looks sad too.

Seb is working on his résumé for the Piano Bar job when Krista comes in. She offers to help but he says he's keen to get the job on his own merit.
SEBASTIAN: Hey, can I say something to you without you getting upset?
KRISTA: ... Well, there's a sentence that never ends well.
SEBASTIAN: I think Leo put Nicolette up to hiring me.
KRISTA: No.
SEBASTIAN: I saw them at the lake right after it happened (...) They were having a really serious conversation. And you know how keen Leo's been to get rid of me.
KRISTA: Leo wouldn't do that.
SEBASTIAN: I mentioned Nic last night, and he had this weird look on his face.
But at this point, Leo himself comes in. He says Nicolette and Aaron have arrived at the penthouse for their day of remembrance for David, while Paul's gone to the cemetery. Seb feigns sympathy with Leo, expressing sorrow for his loss. Not really buying it, Leo nonetheless thanks him, and leaves again.
KRISTA (to Sebastian): You've got it wrong.

Seemingly looking for some clean clothes, Max rushes out into the garden in just a towel to retrieve some jeans from the washing line, his hands still bandaged. But as he's grabbing the jeans, his towel comes loose and drops to the floor - just as Holly arrives on the patio to catch an eyeful! She screams, and Max quickly grabs his towel and covers himself.
HOLLY: Don't worry - I didn't see anything!
Max apologises and rushes past her into the house to get dressed. Holly laughs as 'whimsical' music plays.
Penthouse
Krista, Leo, Nicolette and Aaron are all now gathered, but Aaron's still not convinced about the idea of a picnic to commemorate David.
AARON: It just needs to be a little more meaningful. It's got to be a bit more 'David' (...) I just feel like it has to honour his memory in a way that relates to the kind of person he was.
Leo is clearly struggling even listening to the conversation, and as Aaron ducks out of the room, Krista asks if Leo's okay. Leo says he's just remembered he needs to call Byron to discuss Yorokobi business, so heads outside. Krista and Nicolette both look worried.
NICOLETTE: I don't think Leo is as okay as he's letting on.
Judging by the look on her face, Krista agrees.

Max comes into the living area, now dressed; it seems Holly stayed over last night on the sofa, as per an invitation by Sadie.
MAX: Well, next time I'll bring a safety towel.
HOLLY: Umm... I didn't see anything. Promise.
MAX: Thanks. Are you feeling any better?
HOLLY: Better than you with those hands.
MAX: Oh, no, it's fine. I'll manage.
But he's struggling even to do up his belt, so Holly comes over and does it for him. There's palpable tension in the air, and Max thanks her awkwardly, before declaring he's headed to work at the garage - apparently he's on desk duty until his hands heal.
HOLLY: Can you even pick up a pen?
MAX: I'll manage. See ya.
But Holly looks concerned as he goes.
Lassiter's Lake
Leo is standing by the lake looking pensive when Krista comes to find him. Leo claims he's spoken to Byron, but Krista tells him not to pretend to be okay when she knows he isn't.
KRISTA: I usually let you get away with it, because you're really strong. But how are you really doing? We're about to be married soon, and I would hope that we could talk to each other about anything.
Leo is struggling to find the words, so she leads him to a bench and they sit down together.
LEO: Yeah, I... I miss him. And then I feel so bad because... I don't want to miss him. I don't want to think about him at all. And Aaron's up there, talking about honouring his memory, and... Dad's visiting his grave. All I can think about is how I can get away from it all.
KRISTA: That's okay.
LEO: Sometimes it's easier to fixate on other things. And, uh... I think that's what I've been doing since he died.
KRISTA: There's no right or wrong way to cope with this.
LEO: Yeah, that's what Nic said. We, umm... we spoke about it just here, the other day.
Krista realises this must be the conversation Seb saw happening, but doesn't mention it.
KRISTA: I'm glad. Now, do you want to join the others? Because they would understand if you didn't.
But Leo says he feels a bit better for talking about it, and that he's ready.
LEO: I think Aaron's onto something with honouring his legacy.
KRISTA: I like to think that David played a big part in us getting together.
LEO: Yeah, I think that too.
KRISTA: It's a nice thought, isn't it?
Leo is very emotional, and they share a hug.
Erinsborough High School
Jane is in her office looking forlorn, when Terese calls by to tell her about a new idea - a book club as one of the shared activities between Eirini Rising residents and the school pupils. But Jane is very distracted, and when Terese asks if it's a bad time, admits it is.
TERESE: Are you thinking about David?
JANE: Well, there is that... and also a school matter that's causing some issues. I had to make a difficult decision this morning that... that I really didn't want to. And it has ended up hurting everyone involved.
TERESE: Oh, well, that sounds serious. Do you want to talk it through?
JANE: No... no, I made the right call. I just need to come to terms with it, that's all.
Terese reports that everyone at Eirini is loving the shared activities, and (rather oddly!) remarks that the school is looking clean and tidy. Jane looks awkward at this reminder of Clint...

Max is struggling opening a cabinet with his bandages, when Holly arrives with morning tea for them, and offers to help. Max insists he can do it.
HOLLY: Sure you can, Edward Bandagehands (...) I didn't believe you when you said that you could manage here, and it looks like I was right.
MAX: Right. So this is nothing to do with the fact that you're still feeling guilty that I got zapped instead of you?
HOLLY: ... I kind of owe you.
MAX: You don't. But I really appreciate the morning tea. And now we're even.
HOLLY: No. This is just a bonus. I'm here, because I've decided to be your hands for the day.
MAX: But you're not a mechanic.
HOLLY: So? You don't need to have qualifications to organise stuff. By the way, this place is disgusting.
MAX: I feel weird about this.
HOLLY: Are you seriously gonna say no to free labour? Come on - I'll just hold stuff up, and you point to where it goes. Okay?
MAX: Is there even any point in me answering?
Holly starts holding up items to put away, so Max grudgingly starts to go along with it...
Eirini Rising
Terese is chatting to Clint in the office; he's saying how he prefers natural cleaning supplies. At this point, Jane comes in, having looked over Terese's book club proposal and wanting to talk to her about it. She's disconcerted to see Clint there.
TERESE: Clint's coming to work at Eirini. Don't worry, he's not leaving the school.
CLINT: I'll work nights for you, and day shifts here.
JANE: Right... isn't that a lot?
CLINT: I like staying busy. Keeps my mind off things.
Clint goes to make a start in the courtyard. Once he's gone, Jane tells Terese she's not sure it's a good idea that he works here.
TERESE: Why not? (...) The school corridors have never looked better. And he's a good cleaner too! ... Sorry. That was really inappropriate.
Clint comes back in to fill his bucket at the sink. Jane murmurs quietly that he 'looks good' to her, too - before pretending she was talking about the book club proposal!
A few minutes later, Clint is in the Eirini courtyard when Jane emerges from the building. He says he hopes she doesn't mind him picking up extra shifts here, as the money will be helpful; Jane doesn't object, but is still clearly uncomfortable at their even being seen together. She heads back towards the school via the adjoining door, but looks back at Clint wistfully as she goes...
Harold's Café
Krista tells Seb that Nicolette didn't ask Leo to fire him; when he saw them on the bench together they were talking about David, she explains, and tells Seb to drop it.
Krista then joins Aaron, Nicolette and Leo at a table. They're still discussing ideas for how to remember David based around who he was and what he stood for.
LEO: Well, he was a doctor, and he liked helping people, right?
NICOLETTE: Even when he crossed a line, he never lost his integrity.
LEO: No. No, he'd always atone for his mistakes.
KRISTA: Yeah. That's why he became my sober companion.
AARON: Even when he couldn't be a doctor, he still found a way to give back.
LEO: So how do we take that idea and turn it into something to honour David now?
Seb has been listening to all this from the counter, and comes over.
SEBASTIAN: I hope I'm not too out- of- line chipping in... I saw a flyer at the community centre for the local food bank. They're doing a big community meal this arvo.
Leo looks annoyed that Seb is butting in, but Aaron seems interested, and suggests they could volunteer with helping out with the food bank, as a way of remembering David.
Leo is noncommittal, and Nicolette suggests they take a second to think of what else is happening in the area. But Aaron says this idea has landed on their lap, and thinks they should go with it. Leo looks like he is loath to go with Seb's idea, but as Krista is looking at him expectantly...
LEO: Yeah. I'm sure David would be into it.
SEBASTIAN (smirking at Leo): Just glad I could help.
Fitzgerald Motors
Holly is still helping Max at the garage, and suggests she help him tidy up the tools. Max warns her they're heavy, but Holly is already picking up a case of them, which she promptly drops so they crash all over the floor. Max tells her Hudson (the manager) will sort it out when he arrives, and suggests Holly wrap up for the day. But Holly insists she's only getting started and begins putting the tools away. Max looks stressed.
Harold's Café
In the kitchen, Nicolette and Leo moan about Seb trying to get a rise out of Leo with his food bank suggestion. Nicolette says she's guessing Leo had a good chat with Krista earlier.
LEO: Yeah, she's amazing. She's so intuitive.
NICOLETTE: Yet she can't see Seb for who he is.
LEO: I think it's the whole history of obligation and guilt.
NICOLETTE: He doesn't look like he has any intention of leaving Melbourne.
LEO: No, and he just applied for a job at the hotel. It's not like I can ask you to fire him from that.
NICOLETTE: Hey - I hate to keep checking, but you're one hundred percent not gonna say anything about Yaz, right?
LEO: I promised you.
NICOLETTE: I'm in so deep. If anyone finds out I was at the airport...
But at this moment we see that Krista is standing listening to the conversation.
KRISTA: What are you two talking about?
Krista looks mad, and Leo and Nicolette look guilty...
