Lassiters Complex
The whole complex (and external sites such as the Flame Tree/Lanzini's) is decked out for the 'Lights Up' event - it has been transformed into a lights paradise. Holly and Aaron are thrilled with how things have turned out and accept the praise Andrew/Max give to them.
Yaz looks more like she's visiting Blackpool on a wet illumination weekend and not even a notification that her flight to LA is leaving in 3 hours' time removes the glum look on her face. Ahead of going on her Erinsborough tour to see how the lights are elsewhere, Yaz briefly checks in with Holly. Holly reassures her that everything is going well and she has the back- up transformer if there is an issue. Before she leaves, Holly asks if Yaz too did the exercise to help with her family stuff?
YAZ: I did what I needed to do. Have a good night Holly.
Erinsborough High
The school is decked out too and Andrew takes 100001 photos for Wendy. Inside the school, we see what Jasmine was working on with Jane last week - inside hangs artwork by the pupils. Jane is impressed at how things are and Terese is pleased this event has allowed Nell to integrate herself back into school too, the lassie can't wait to resume studying at EHS.
After saying bye to Terese, Jane spots her sad looking daughter and suggests having a chat with Yaz to hear her out but it doesn't look like Nicolette wants to chat.
Lassiters Complex
Yaz is organising her luggage with the porter when Blaze stops by to congratulate her on how amazing Lights Up is and to give her the heads up on the latest podcast she's just uploaded featuring "all the players from the outback murder."
Eirini Rising
Paul looks pleased to get a few minutes alone with Terese before the Lost Loves segment of the programme begins. He's barely got his lips on hers when the Eirini residents begin filing in, including Harold who is back from his trip. At a very 8pm prompt, the slideshow begins showing pictures of Lester (Moira's hubby), Aaron (Gino's love) and David (which causes Paul to get teary). Madge is being saved for the second half, before pictures of others appear (Cael Paparella, Perry Broad and Shirley Lyle) as Paul heads over to ask if Hilary regrets not submitting a photo now but rather than respond, she silently walks away.
Lassiters Complex
Aaron reckons Lights Up is the best ever event Lassiters has organised.
Nicolette is looking for Yaz but Holly reckons she's already left although Max thinks she's still in the hotel as he saw her more recently in the hotel foyer.
"We don't need Kentucky Fried crowd!" Holly mutters to Max when she spots some kids playing with one of the lights beside the lake and yells to them to stop.
Road somewhere
As Yaz's car makes its way to the airport, after cancelling a call from Nicolette, she tunes into the latest Crimesborough podcast. Perhaps Yaz might not have tuned in, when Blaze begins by saying after interviewing the others [there in the outback] their stance has changed!
Lassiters Complex
Another look at how the complex looks all lit up.
Eirini Rising
And its back to the photos and this time we see Barbara Zofia Paplinska, Ray McMahon and Joshua Willis (Terese's son). It's Paul's turn to reciprocate the support back to Terese after Josh's name/photo comes up.
As more photos are shown in the background (Marjorie Sharp, Max Gist, Lizanne Murphy, Mark Bison, Violet Thickbroom, Gladys Jacks and Elsie Ellis) Harold tells Terese and Paul how impressed he is with the event and if they are back together? Paul confirms that they are and promises that he's on his best behaviour too!
HAROLD: (pointing upwards to the sky) As the big man said, do not judge, lest you too be judged.
Paul spots Hilary is back and goes over to ask if she's thinking about Kenneth. She is surprised he knew that, but is not amused to know how he found out - Paul let himself into her apartment! "He wasn't really mine to lose," Hilary comments when Paul turns the conversation back round to Kenneth. Paul knows that she didn't marry Kenneth but gets from her that she did indeed love him and the timing is apt because on the screen, Kenneth Muir's name and photo appear and Hilary is very taken [in a good way] with what he's done.
PAUL: Your loss is just as important as anyone else's here.
Road somewhere
Thankfully it takes a while to get from the city to Melbourne airport as it is allowing Yaz the time to listen to the podcast. We hear in it how Mackenzie twice tried to warn Holly about Heath but she wouldn't listen - it is at his point Yaz switches it off briefly before resuming it again. Yaz has a smile on her face as we hear Melanie describe Heath as being "charming on the outside, handsome, friendly, confident" but the smile quickly disappears when she then goes onto say "on the inside, he really was a monster." Melanie describes how they begged Heath to let them go but he wouldn't because he was "enjoying the power over us, seeing us tied up." She also recalls Heath telling her that nobody would hear her screaming.
MELANIE: If I hadn't heard Holly's screams, she would've died in that grain silo. A slow, excruciating death. Heath left her there. He didn't care one bit. He was like a madman, stalking us through the bush, calling out our names and firing shots. He was going to kill us, each and every one of us! And he nearly did kill poor Mackenzie.
While we heard Melanie's voiceover, we saw flashbacks to Yaz visiting Warrawee Station and once Melanie finishes talking, Yaz suddenly asks the driver to pull over.
Lassiters hotel
Nicolette and Aaron go to Yaz's room to confirm if she has left or not - Katrina says she checked out but they can't believe she would have gone without saying goodbye.
Using Aaron's keycard, they let themselves into Yaz's room and can't believe the mess it is in, with stuff strewn all over the floor. Aaron confirms all of Yaz's belongings are gone from the room and Nicolette can't believe Yaz literally took her words to heart about going back to the States. As she looks around, Nicolette finds a lawyers business card and can't figure out why Yaz would also need a lawyer in Australia as well as the USA.
Lassiters Complex
Everyone seems to be enjoying the Light Up festival but given Yaz has gone AWOL, Holly is in demand trying to cover everywhere! There is an issue at Eirini Rising with part 2 of the slideshow and just as she is about to head there, the lights literally go out at the complex! Max comes to Holly's rescue by volunteering to swap transformers, he's a mechanic after all, and he gets to doing that while she heads off to Eirini.
The Waterhole
Nicolette is trying to track Yaz down as she and Aaron enter the bar. Krista is there and they tell her about Yaz checking out of the hotel and the "whole room has been turned upside down." Nicolette goes to call the lawyer and while she is waiting for the call to be answered, Krista spots the business card. A few seconds later, Nicolette reports that the number wasn't connected just as Krista is saying that the name on the card is the name of the lawyer who visited Tess in prison. Aaron is confused over what the lawyer has to do with Yaz and Krista adds in what she knows - that this lawyer was hired to investigate Heath's death but then disappeared. From the look on Nicolette's face, she's correctly adding 2+2 together and suddenly announces she needs to find Yaz!
Lassiters Complex
Despite his claim that he knew what he was doing, Max is having difficulty swapping the transformers over.
Yaz has arrived back at the hotel and is trying to make her way through the crowd to get to Holly (and ignoring Nicolette wanting to talk to her). She doesn't reach 'Holly' in time as Max has finally figured out what to do [with the transformers] and of course there is a big BOOM and Max goes flying to the ground and the Light Up lights go off.
Aaron and Nicolette rush towards Max and Kirsta gets out her phone to summon an ambulance as Yaz stands looking like a stunned fish… well a worried stunned fish!
(Later)
Max is stretched into an ambulance as Andrew and his colleagues move the crowd away from the scene in case they too get electrocuted.
Aaron is curious over why Max was changing the transformer and Krista doesn't know either, so the pair head off to question Holly. Meanwhile Nicolette goes to find Yaz, and spots her hurriedly getting into a car which then hastily departs the hotel.
Eirini Rising
Holly thankfully backed up the photos onto a USB, so even if its not as professional as the original by Yaz, the gathered can still see the photos.
Airport
Yaz is waiting for her flight when Nicolette joins her at the departure gate!!! "Why are you running?" Nicolette asks followed by asking about who the Leah Curtin is that was looking into Heath Silverson's death on behalf of the family. Yaz confirms that 'Leah' doesn't exist, admitting that it was her pretending to be the named lawyer.
Eirini Rising
Holly has literally apologised to Harold for Madge's photo not being amongst the ones shown when she pops up on the screen much to Harold's delight!
GINO: (fake Madge impression) HAROLD!
HAROLD: Nowhere near as good as the original! But isn't it lovely to think that she's hear in spirit.
After the photo of Madge we suddenly see a photo of Heath (taken in London) followed seconds later with one of him and Yaz together!
TERESE: Why would Yaz have photos of Heath?!
More pictures of Heath/Yaz appear and you can see the cogwheels turning in Holly's head!
Airport
Yaz tells Nicolette that Heath was her baby brother, whom she loved. Choosing her words carefully, Nicolette says that he "hurt a lot of people" something which Yaz didn't want to believe especially as the police report said Heath "was killed in self- defence." Aided by the 'hellfire Holly' podcast which made Holly "sound so awful" is what made Yaz come to Australia to "find out what really happened." Yaz then hands Nicolette Heath's phone so she can see the video he made but she barely watches a few seconds of it before handing it back to Yaz.
Given the video, alongside every eyewitness being a friend of Holly's plus Andrew being Holly's dad's bestie is Yaz's rationale for demanding the police carry out a full and proper investigation. Yaz admits she never wanted Max to get hurt, and immediately Nicolette instead asks if she wanted Holly to be the one hurt instead?! Taking a few seconds before replying, Yaz admits that Holly getting hurt "would be the only way that I could get justice for Heath."
Eirini Rising
Holly demands that someone switches off the photos but nobody seems to be doing that!
Airport
Nicolette points out that Holly was traumatised by what Heath did to her although to Yaz, it was easier for her to blame Holly "than to accept the man that he'd become." However, listening tonight to the other interviews on the podcast she now agrees that Heath "terrorised everyone."
Lassiters Complex
The crowd enjoy the fireworks show brightening up the dark sky.
Airport
Nicolette listens as Yaz reveals her plan to target Holly - first beginning by winning her trust so she'd reveal what really happened and then by targeting Nicolette to because she was friends with Holly.
YAZ: I thought it might be useful.
As Nicolette starts to get upset, Yaz quickly adds in "that's only how it started" before adding that she [genuinely] started falling for Nicolette.
NICOLETTE: I've been falling for you too.
YAZ: Now I'm gonna lose someone I really care about, and this time it's my fault.
When Nicolette gets out her phone, Yaz thinks it's to send a message to the police and wants her to say she will fully cooperate with them, however Nicolette was actually checking to see how Max is.
YAZ: I'll turn myself in. It's the right thing to do.
Nicolette gets a text back - while they're running more tests, Max will be okay. The text came moments before the flight is called and Nicolette stands up and tells Yaz to get on the flight! Yaz can't believe what Nicolette is saying especially given she's prepared to turn herself in!
NICOLETTE: Yaz, just leave now before I change my mind.
