Number 28
Nell hears the sad news that due to the type of cancer Big Kev has (pancreatic) the prognosis is not good, with Toadie breaking it to her that he has months not years to live. It now starts to make sense to Nell why everyone has been upset and after Toadie explains the family plan for her to move back to Erinsborough (to help protect her), she doesn't want to be abandoned everyone in Colac.
As they discuss where Nell could live, more revelations come out about Terese's drinking. Nell thought when she caught Terese, it was a one- off, while Toadie is shocked to hear that Terese fell off the wagon earlier than he thought. He doesn't look impressed that Nell knew she was back drinking either.
Lassiters hotel (foyer)
Paul is sure that Terese is the best person to look after Nell and urges her to talk to Toadie again.
Harold's café
Yaz is chatting with Blaze from Crimesborough regarding advertising on the podcast for her planned event. She is also subtly trying to get from Blaze if more happened in the outback that has been revealed and Blaze thinks that there is more.
Lassiters hotel
To help get Holly's confidence back, Karl walks Holly to work so they can spend a bit more time together before he flies off on his bike trip. Unseen to Karl (or Paul who has come out of a back office) someone has placed a plastic crocodile on the keyboard which Holly quicky removes unseen while the men are chatting. Paul is after Karl to have a word with Toadie about changing his mind over Nell staying at #22 but Karl (and Susan) don't want to interfere more because they can't see Toadie changing his mind.
When Karl heads off, Holly literally begs Paul to get off of reception duties and her persistence wears him down and he promises to see if he can move staff around.
Hospital
While his parents and Dex play cards in Cara's room, JJ checks in with how Nell is doing out in the corridor about her grandpa. She now agrees that she can't watch Big Kev die after what happened to her mum. While happy to have her back in down, JJ wishes she was back for a different reason. Given Toadie's stance over her staying at #22, Nell wishes she could stay with him but he knows his mums won't allow that to happen.
Number 28
Terese gives Toadie the hard sell over why Nell should live at #22 but he feels that she needs to concentrate on herself. She acknowledges that she messed up and plans on staying sober to ensure that Nell can be her priority however Toadie though feels Terese isn't strong enough to give Nell the support she requires.
Harolds café
Holly arrives in the café just as Yaz and Blaze say their farewells and catches Blaze before she exits via the front door and makes her displeasure known over being "totally stitched" up over the podcast. Blaze isn't at all fussed at what she did nor the rant Holly is saying to her.
HOLLY: What you did to me was cruel and deliberate. I hope the clicks were worth it.
BLAZE: Actually, they were!
After Blaze exits the café and having observed the pair, Yaz now creeps forward to compliment Holly for standing her ground. Holly likes the compliment and admits that it felt good sticking up for herself and the smile on her face grows more when Yaz points out that Blaze left without picking up her drink!
Eirini Rising
Karl and Susan chat how good it is for Holly being back at work before talk turns to where Nell is going to stay.
They are interrupted when the locum covering Karl's absence, Dr Sameer Bishara, arrives to begin work.
The Waterhole
After a bit of a 'standoff' Nell and Terese sit down at one of the tables for a chat. Terese offers to be there if Nell wants to chat about her grandpa but she is fine. Naturally, the talk turns to Terese's relapse and she is aghast at the breach of trust and regrets the position she put Nell in.
TERESE: I'm sorry… and ashamed.
Nell really wanted to be there for Terese, but is reminded that is not her job. As much as Terese wants Nell to live with her, and how much she does want to move back into #22, Nell knows it's her dad's call.
Hospital (exterior)
While JJ/Remi head off to buy drinks for everyone, Dex pushes Cara into he garden area and takes the opportunity to ask why she isn't more angry at Holly? A calm Cara knows there's no point getting caught up on the 'what ifs' when something happens. Dex is adamant that the accident was due to Holly but Cara also pointed out that she was responsible for ensuring the job was done safely and so he doesn't have to "hold on to this one" for her.
Number 28
Nell gets straight to the point with her dad - she wants to live with Terese! He doesn't think that is a good idea as Terese needs to focus on her recover and wants her to stay with the K's. It turns into a Nell v Toadie, but Nell pulls out the trump card when she reminds him, he was the one that walked out on Terese, which caused her world to explode.
TOADIE: Well, don't hold back there, kid!
NELL: I love you dad. But I took a big chance going to Colac, and I did it for you. Maybe you should do the same for me and Terese.
Harold's café
Holly earns herself the reward of a cookie after telling Nicolette about standing up to Blaze and this encouragement has also allowed Holly to feel that the podcast is bigger than it needs to be and is determined "that hack is not living rent- free in my mind."
Nicolette and Holly are giggling away about how much they could charge for head space when Dex enters the café. He is not amused at what he's seeing and has a go at Holly for enjoying herself whilst Cara is in hospital "getting over the fact that she'll never have a child again." The fact Cara is in hospital is news to Holly is more ammunition for Dex!
DEX: You are a rubbish human being. I'll never forget what you did to my mum.
In the background whilst all this played out, someone has been a very interested spectator - Yaz.
Number 22
Terese is surprised to see Toadie on her doorstep but lets him into the house. He reveals to her the "reality check" his "very wise daughter" gave him and apologises to Terese for not believing that she can look after Nell. He acknowledges that she'd never have began drinking again if it weren't for him, although Terese disputes that one!
TOADIE: Please, do not let me off the hook. Grief, loss, abandonment… they've always been huge triggers for you.
Toadie acknowledges his bad handling of everything between them over the past 6 months and consequentially has no right to judge her at all since he was the one who caused it all. He backtracks on what he said given that was "a scared and a very guilty father talking," earlier - now, he "couldn't think of a better person to look after Nell" if Terese is still up for it!
Terese can't believe what she is hearing! "She loves you," Toadie reminds her and is sure it is reciprocated (it is!) as Terese then formally accepts the offer to have Nell live with her.
Hospital
In the garden, Dex is back from his rant at Holly with the muffins he went there for in the first place (Cara fancied one). Watching on from inside the hospital, Holly sees the family interact with each other, and such is the happy scene, Holly abandons going out to give Cara the flowers she purchased, instead tearfully, she about turns and walks away.
JJ heads off too after getting a text from Nell - she wants him to join her as she talks to her dad. He isn't sure if it is going to be good news or bad news!
Number 22
Nell (and JJ) hesitantly enters the house but before Toadie can say anything, she picks up on Terese's hand signals to know its good news and rushes to hug her. She promises to visit Colac regularly, but she can hold off on that for a bit as Toadie plans on staying (with the K's) for a bit longer to help Nell settle in and with it being her birthday next week, thinks Hugo will want to visit her too. Terese suggests holding her birthday party at the house, which she readily agrees to and while the kids talk party, we hear Toadie say he will contribute financially to Nell being at #22.
Eirini Rising
Karl finishes checking what is in his bag when Susan (after a text message) tells him about Nell moving into Number 22. They both think its great news when Holly comes by to say bye to her dad and lies about how her day has been. And while the K's are saying bye to each other with a kiss, in the background, Holly is trying to hold back the tears.
Lassiters hotel (foyer)
Paul is thrilled to hear that Nell is moving into #22 when he meets up with Terese. In turn, she thanks him for the encouragement to fight Toadie and praises him too for being in her corner during her recent struggles. Paul's reply back is that he will always be in her corner, "no matter what."
Lassiters hotel (Yaz's room)
Holly arrives with Yaz's room service order and as she pushes the trolley into the room, Yaz picks up that Holly seems a little flat. That is all the encouragement Holly needs to fully burst into tears, for which she quickly apologises to the guest for doing… but then seconds later, albeit with encouragement from Yaz, Holly unloads on what a crap day it has been before realising she's been unprofessional! Yaz is quick to remind Holly that she's simply being a human and rolls out the trusted 'it isn't as bad as you think' spiel before telling Holly to sit down and tell her what is going on.
YAZ: I bet you'll feel better!
Holly isn't sure what to do, but Yaz bluntly tells Holly that she can't leave in the state she's in, and when she goes to close the hotel room door, she looks rather chuffed with herself!
Coming up on Neighbours
- Byron wanting Max out of the house because Trevor likes him more!
- Nicolette having the hots for Yaz.
- Toadie admitting the move to Colac hasn't turned out like he'd hoped it would.
