- Felix trying to get Holly to admit she has PTSD.
- Susan telling Terese of Paul's plan.
- Terese reassured that Paul is around for her.
The Waterhole
Holly has flashbacks to all that has happened to her recently before walking out of the bar.
Number 22
Susan isn't too sure that Terese is right to lean on Paul but she is adamant that she wants that because it makes her "feel better" and that she is "still valuable." Susan interprets valuable as actually being vulnerable and that is why she thinks Terese should keep her distance from Paul. Eventually Terese gets it, especially as Paul isn't "a magic bullet."
SUSAN: More like a land mine!
Terese reassures Susan that she will be okay on her own (Susan is about to head to Eirini) but once on her own, she starts to look at a retreat website which seems to favour relaxing with some wine! She looks almost happy to be interrupted when JJ calls round to see if she's heard from Nell - he's worried about her as Nell seems to think everyone has already forgotten about her, so Terese plans on making contact with her.
Ramsay Street
JJ is in a tizzy when a letter accidentally falls into a bucket of water as he's cleaning Cara's Ute out. Remi just so happens to arrive with refreshments for him as he is trying to rescue the contents of it and when JJ shows it to Remi, she looks shocked.
The Shed
Andrew is taking out his frustration on the punch bag when Aaron interrupts to offer him his ears (Wendy mentioned something to him) but Andrew doesn't want any help and isn't amused either at Wendy saying something.
The Waterhole
Remi catches up with Cara as she is having a break and shows her what JJ found - it's her birthday goals she wrote on her recent big day and on the list is her wanting to have another baby! Cara admits she's thought about it for a while.
Ramsay Street
Terese does as she promised JJ, and gives Nell a call although she comes off the phone upset because Nell is down too. Conveniently Paul happens to be in Ramsay Street and gives her a reassuring hug - both seem to get a lot out of it before Paul pulls away.
The Waterhole
Cara gets that having a baby is impractical as well as her age being a factor, but that isn't putting Remi off, she thinks they need the conversation now rather than in 5 years' time. Remi checks that she really wants another baby and Cara does, even if they're wary the next donor might be "another Felix!" Remi isn't too keen on having another child herself but since Cara wants one, she is open to starting the conversation.
CARA: You say one thing, but your face is another.
Cara tells Remi to forget what she wrote - reminding herself too that both have "way less energy" along with "busier jobs" compared to when the boys were born. Remi is worried that if they don't at least talk it through properly, Cara will have regrets but it was "just a really lovely dream that I never expected to happen."
Number 28
Holly is so zoned out that she doesn't hear Susan approach, and when she does notice, she accidentally pushes Susan into the kitchen counter. As Susan rubs her wrist, Holly apologises profusely and goes to get the pain gel for her.
While Holly is doing that, Susan answers the door to Paul. He tells her about finding Terese upset and wonders if there is anything else either of them can do for Terese? "No," is the reply and points out that she is still going to have her "low moments" despite either of them spending 24/7 with her.
Paul admits that had he not pulled away, things might have gone in another direction. He's then shocked to hear Susan tell him that Terese has feelings for him and he wonders if there is more to it? "No!" Susan replies and is adamant that all Terese needs from him right now is friendship and wants him to forget what they've just said!
Harolds café
Having found her dad, Sadie wants to know what is going on with him/Wendy and why he is acting out of character too? Andrew isn't in the mood to talk, so Sadie begs him to talk to Wendy - it is something he has to and needs to do. "It's not that simple," Andrew replies and admits that when he sees Wendy now, all he sees is her/Quinn [in the aftermath of the siege]. He knows it wasn't deliberate they spent the night together, and then goes onto admit that since Quinn came into their lives "it's shown me that we're not what I thought we were."
ANDREW: We won't be able to get our perfect marriage back.
SADIE: Don't say that.
ANDREW: I don't know what else to tell you.
Eirini Rising
As a thank you gift for letting them attend pickleball, the residents have sent Terese a thank you note… and a bottles of wine. She stands there staring at it debating whether to put it in the bin or not and when Terese hears Susan approaching, the wine finally gets put into the bin.
Terese and Susan explain their reasons for being at work to each other, before guilt gets to Susan and she tells Terese about the visit from Paul… and revealed a bit too much to him. Susan is very apologetic and hopes that despite the blab, Paul does stay away from her but if he doesn't, she urges Terese to be "very firm with him!"
After Susan heads off to see Hilary, you can see Terese mentally debating whether to go into the bin or not for the bottle of wine.
Harolds café
Remi comes off the phone from talking to Wendy - she's been recommending some counsellors to her. She and Cara are waiting for JJ to arrive - the lad is late and they wonder if what he read has scared him off.
The Waterhole
Felix makes himself scarce to get the next round in when he spots Wendy arrive at their table. She tells Andrew about the counsellor recommendations from Remi and he agrees its worth a shot to show them how they can reconnect. Wendy isn't sure if he is giving it lip service, but he agrees to go with her.
Meanwhile at the bar, Felix has a sly smile on his face after he spots that Holly is secretly reading the book on PTSD that he gave her despite it being thrown away originally!
Harolds café
Cara is very much relieved when JJ finally appears, the lad forgot he'd stuff to do at work. She bring up the letter and he is curious as to whether she was serious or not and Cara explains that it wasn't, it was just an idea and they aren't going to be turning lives upside down anytime soon. JJ is happy to hear that, more because he doesn't want to share a room with Dex!
JJ does want to know if Cara wants another child because he's "the problem kid" but that is most definitely not the case, Cara just wanted "to have more of a good thing" by having another child.
CARA: You're my everything.
Eirini Rising
Susan isn't too impressed to see Paul appear to check up on how Terese is feeling. She reminds him that Terese has "been through a hell of an ordeal" and that her feelings "are probably wildly swinging from one minute to the next."
SUSAN: Please, please don't take advantage of that.
Paul thanks Susan for her "extreme lack of faith" in his character! She reminds him that his initial instinct to back off was the right one, which Paul is doing is utmost to keep to but adds in that he's "only human!" However, moments after he says that, he admits to Susan that "sometimes I think I just can't live without her." Susan acknowledges the feelings he has for her which should enable him to put Terese's needs first.
Number 22
At some point, Terese has retrieved the bottle of wine from the bin and taken it home. She now has a glass in her hand, mentally debating whether to open the bottle or not. Eventually she gives in and opens it, but then someone knocks at the door and she hides the bottle/glass before going to open the door.
The caller is Paul who is around to apologise for not being there when she needed him. While trying to ensure Paul doesn't go through to the kitchen, Terese knows he had his reasons for staying away and comments him for being "noble." Paul though thinks it was "quite stupid" and reiterates that he can just be her friend because "that means more to me than anything else in the world" whether it's difficult for him or not.
Terese takes a moment to figure out if she wants him to be her friend or not before saying that his timing "couldn't be any better," then takes him through to the kitchen where she confesses about what she was going to do [if he hadn't arrived].
Terese then pours the wine down the sink and she agrees with him that what she was about to do "wasn't worth it." She admits to getting herself "into such a state" before then saying he is "exactly what I needed."
(Later)
So it looks like some of that last scene was a dream, or she had the wine after he left, as when Terese wakes up from falling asleep on the sofa, lying on the floor beside her is the empty wine bottle and a glass lying on the table.
