No.28
Karl and Susan are talking about Holly/Felix at the tram and hope it'll sort itself out.
Terese comes round to ask Karl to talk to Moira - she's persuaded everyone out of the gardening club and are going to a pickleball centre instead!
Karl reassures her that they've already consulted her and it's a low- impact sport, so it will be good for them. Although he thinks they're more interested in hanging out with the male players(!)
Terese starts to go off to see Paul, so Susan quickly invites her to have dinner with them.
Just then, Karl gets a call from Holly to go down to the tram.
The 82
Karl is confused that Felix is staying at the tram - he thought he was at the half- way house.
HOLLY: Who are you hiding from?
FELIX: There's some people there, picking up where they left off, trying to pull me into it. This is me keeping my nose clean.
HOLLY: By basically breaking in.
FELIX: I said it was a dumb idea.
KARL: I can only commend you for trying to stay out of trouble...
HOLLY: Commend?!
KARL: But you can't stay here, it's not set up.
Felix nods.
KARL: Perhaps a few days at ours if Susan's happy?
HOLLY: What?!
FELIX: I can't do that. Sorry. I...I can't impose and I promised Cara and Remi that I wouldn't go anywhere near JJ.
KARL: Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
FELIX: And before you offer, I really can't accept any money.
KARL: Oh, well, no, no. If you insist.
FELIX: I just need a place to crash. I've stayed in way worse places. This would be fine.
KARL: I suppose this place does have heat and power and running water.
Holly looks incredulous.
FELIX: Luxury. It wouldn't be for long, and I'd be quiet...and no- one would know I was here...
KARL: Well, you'd let me know if you found somewhere more suitable?
HOLLY: No, Dad, you can't be serious.
KARL: Well, you know...in the absence of a better option?
Holly is speechless. Felix is pleased.
Garden on No.26
Wendy is preparing a nice meal for Andrew outside. She tells Sadie that she and Andrew should talk properly. Sadie thinks it's good.
SADIE: I love you both.
Wendy looks apprehensive.
Waterhole
The Varga- Murphys are at a table. Remi tells JJ not to use his phone, but they all end up texting people(!)
Cara has got an email from the University - she got 66% on the resit, so she's passed. Also, they want Dex to start doing Uni Computer Science subjects. Dex is confused. Cara and Remi congratulate him.
CARA: Uni at fifteen. That's genius level!
Garden of No.26
Andrew gets home and sees Wendy in the garden.
ANDREW: Why have you got the nice plates out? Are you going to throw them at me?
WENDY: Well, obviously I didn't feel like talking earlier, but you did, and this is me, you know, coming to the table. Literally.
ANDREW: Great timing. Just when I'm absolutely knackered and smell of dog crap.
WENDY: Well, we can still sit and eat.
ANDREW: You eat. I just need a shower and bed.
Wendy looks dejected.
No.28
Holly is crashing around the kitchen in a mood. Susan tells her to stop - Karl is just helping Felix out. Karl is going to take an extra mattress topper down to him tomorrow.
Terese decides to go home and Susan rounds on Holly.
SUSAN: Holly!
HOLLY: What have I done?!
SUSAN: I understand that you have issues with Felix, but did just save our lives!
HOLLY: Yeah, well, peopel contain multitudes, he can still be a bad fit for living and working at the tram.
SUSAN: Are you sure that's all that's bothering you?
HOLLY: Isn't that enough?
SUSAN: After what happened with Heath, it would be perfectly natural to struggle with trust, especially with men.
HOLLY: Why is everybody treating me like I'm broken?!
KARL: I don't think that's what Susan said...
HOLLY: I just think Felix is a super annoying person who's really bad for the business. But if you want him there 24/7, that is up to you.
She stalks off to her room.
Waterhole
The Varga- Murphys are playing pool. JJ keeps texting Nell and Remi tells him to get involved in family time.
Dex tells them he doesn't want to do the Uni courses.
DEX: I don't want to be the weird kid. I just want to be normal.
He says he can do University later. Cara and Remi want to think about it some more.
Outside the Police Station
Felix tells Andrew that he's staying at the tram. He's come to explain it to his parole team, so they know what's going on.
In the office, Tony asks Andrew what's going on with him. He urges him to take a few days personal leave, but Andrew doesn't want to.
Harold's Cafe
Cara and Remi are discussing Dex and the Uni courses.
Cara thinks Dex would gain a lot, but also lose a lot. She decides to call the course co- ordinator for a chat. They're pleased that Dex is considered to be so smart though.
Lassiter's Spa
Terese and Susan have popped in for a treatment from Sadie. Terese casually asks if Paul is coming round today. Sadie assures them that he came in early today, so they're safe. Terese looks a bit disappointed(!) and Susan looks at her knowingly.
The 82
Felix has already opened up when Holly arrives. She is hostile to him, but he takes it mildly. He asks her if she's had any more bad dreams.
HOLLY: Someone's sneaky behaviour messed up my winding- down time.
FELIX: That person sounds like a real pain in the neck.
HOLLY: Finally, he gets it.
FELIX: Although, come to think of it, impatience and irritability are symptoms of PTSD.
HOLLY:(crossly) You really don't listen, do you?
FELIX: It's just a statement. Do with it what you will.
HOLLY: Well, open your ears, I'm fine. I don't want to hear another word about that.
Felix just looks at her.
FELIX:(quietly) Okay.
Waterhole
Sadie has popped in for a coffee while Terese's facemask is on(!) She asks Wendy how it went last night and she explains that Andrew wasn't interested. In fact, he walked off.
Just then, Andrew comes in. Wendy goes off to the back.
Sadie tells Andrew off for blowing Wendy off last night. Just then he gets a call to a police scene so heads off. Sadie looks worried.
Harold's Cafe
Cara has spoken to the course co- ordinator. She's suggested a course at an independent college after school instead. Dex is happy with that.
Lassiter's Spa
Terese and Susan are relaxing. They talk about Vic and Jane a bit, then Susan asks Terese about Paul.
SUSAN: Are we here because you were hoping to bump into Paul?
TERESE: Er...maybe part of it.
SUSAN: As long as you understand your motivation.
TERESE: My eyes are open, Susan. You know, when Toadie moved out a couple of months ago, Paul couldn't be around me because he said he'd complicate things.
SUSAN: Wise on his part.
TERESE: I mean, so much has happened since then...I mean, our friendship has become so important for both of us. Don't I at least deserve an explanation of why it's disintegrating?
SUSAN: But you know why. Paul's pulling away for exactly the same reasons. He...he came to see me. He wanted to make sure that I would be there for you if he took a step back.
TERESE:(surprised) Did he? Oh. Hmm.
The 82
Felix is checking on Holly who scowls at him.
JJ and Dex are walking along to school and see Felix from a distance. They decide to go another way.
Inside the tram, Holly sees Felix has placed a book called "Learning to live with Trauma". She picks it up and throws it in the dishwasher(!)
Police station
Andrew has brought in a suspect and is man- handling him. Tony, his superior officer, intervenes.
Lassiter's Spa
Apparently the pickleballers have returned safely to Eirini Rising.
SUSAN: Hey. Jane and I can be his substitutes, can't we?
TERESE: Susan, if I'm going to be honest...no. I mean, you're the best friends that I could dream of, but it's not the same as feeling like I'm the centre of someone's universe. And that's what I really need right now.
SUSAN: Doesn't it make you feel a bit nervous?
TERESE: Look, I know things usually end messy with Paul and I. But...it's just reassuring knowing that he's around. Especially seeing I've been such a wreck lately.
Susan looks concerned.
Sadie returns and finishes up their appointment.
TERESE: Thank you so much, Sadie. And I'll be sure to tell Paul and Krista how impressed I am.
(What, sneaking off for a coffee during the appointment?!)
Police Station
Tony, Andrew's superior officer tells Andrew that he's suspended.
Andrew looks devastated.
