Karl and Susan are excitedly congratulating Haz and Mackenzie on their engagement - but Karl doesn't know how they're going to organise that plus a move to Paris in the space of a fortnight, and Susan agrees.
SUSAN: I'd better get started on the celebrant duties.
Karl taps her on the shoulder, indicating that Haz and Mack haven't asked her to be celebrant yet!
SUSAN: Oh, I'm so sorry - you've probably got someone else in mind!
MACKENZIE: Of course we want you to marry us! It's part of the reason why we're getting married here!
HAZ: Also, I happen to know the owner of Harold's, so the reception is sorted.
MACKENZIE: And Toadie said we can have the ceremony at the nursery before the new tenants arrive.
KARL: Oh, big savings!
Susan offers to call around later and talk Haz and Mack through the wedding paperwork they'll need. Mackenzie tells them more about her job in France - she's going straight into human rights law, so will be working closely with the United Nations.
SUSAN: Well, you just make sure you save some time for the constant stream of visitors.
KARL: Oh, yes, yes - free accommodation in Paris, it just occurred to me! Molto bene!
Susan frowns at Karl's off- context use of Italian, and Mackenzie and Haz laugh.
The Waterhole
Remi, Cara and Dex are having breakfast prior to Cara's disciplinary hearing at the uni. Remi tells her it's okay to be nervous. She says it's fine; she'll be disciplined the way she deserves.
DEX: But you don't deserve. That's why I wrote you this.
Dex gives Cara a letter to show to the disciplinary panel.
DEX: It explains how everything was on me. I can even come to the hearing if you want.
CARA: I absolutely do not want that. Look, you did the wrong thing but for the right reasons. So you can let yourself off the hook, okay?
Aaron brings over coffees and asks after JJ; Remi explains that he's not in this episode (AKA, at the school library). 'Good on JJ for turning things around,' Aaron remarks; and Remi agrees.
REMI: He's still a bit quiet, but at least he's focused.
CARA: Yeah. It's been a tough yeah. We've just got to keep him on track.
Dex heads off to school, wishing Cara luck at her hearing before he goes. However, Cara then has a revelation for Remi that she didn't want Dex to hear - she's not going to the hearing, because she's going to drop out of uni instead. Remi looks concerned...
Harold's Café
Holly has bought Melanie some posh cutlery as the second part of her housewarming present.
MELANIE: Oh, Holly! I didn't even need housewarming gift part one!
HOLLY: (...) You saved my life. This is the least I can do.
Melanie is impressed with the cutlery, and Nicolette turns up for a one- scene wonder to gush about how Leo was going to get the same high- end brand for Yorokobi, but changed his mind when he saw the price tag! Melanie looks worried.
HOLLY: Relax, they were on sale.
MELANIE: That doesn't matter - you shouldn't have!
HOLLY: I should and I did, because you deserve it.
The Waterhole
Remi is trying to talk Cara into going to her hearing and not quitting uni. Cara complains that she's never found textbook learning easy, but Remi replies that she did very well on her first assignments.
CARA: They were the basic modules. Anything more complex, and I'm completely lost.
REMI: Or your confidence has just taken a bit of a hit - but it will come back.
CARA: No, it's... it's more than that. Our teenage son doesn't even study the subject, and he puts me to shame! I'll just outsource the technical parts of the job that I obviously suck at.
But Aaron overhears this and comes over to give his twopenceworth, pointing out how Cara successfully reprogrammed the air conditioning system and the fire alarm. Cara objects that these are simply things you learn on the job - they're easy.
AARON: Yeah, it's easy... for you.
REMI: (...) I was so proud of you when you told me that you'd enrolled in that course, because I knew it was out of your comfort zone.
CARA: It still is.
REMI: Yes, but out of your comfort zone is where you thrive. And shine. Look what you did at your birthday party. And remember how it made you feel.
CARA: Amazing.
REMI: Amazing.
CARA: Fine. I'll go to the meeting.

Susan and Karl are (still) congratulating Haz and Mackenzie. Susan tells them to start thinking about their vows - they can say whatever they want, it's their ceremony. Haz and Mack say they'll see Susan later, and head off.
SUSAN: What a beautiful pair of humans.
KARL: Yeah. The way Haz was looking at Mackenzie when she was talking about the job...
SUSAN: I know. I'm so proud (...) She's come a long way since she first arrived. You know, she has never shied away from who she is.
KARL: No. She's remarkable. And she's brave, too, given what happened to Hendrix.
SUSAN: Yeah. I was worried for a while that that would hold her back from meeting anybody else.
KARL: Well, I suppose Haz isn't just anybody else. They adore each other.
SUSAN: It's lovely to see, isn't it?
KARL: Yeah. Well, we did make a promise to look out for Mackenzie when Hendrix was passing. How can we do that from the other side of the world?
SUSAN: Yeah. I guess this is part of it - we do it by letting her go to live her future. Same as we did with all our kids.
Sentimental music.
Lassiter's Hotel
Holly is at reception when Cara turns up; she has a shift prior to her disciplinary at the uni, and she's using the time to finalise a 'locker audit'.
CARA: I'm working on a system to smooth the transfer of anything left over after check- out to lost property.
Holly looks alarmed, thinking immediately of the locker where Heath's cash is stashed. It gets worse.
CARA: That's weird... There's still a locker assigned to Heath Royce.
HOLLY: Seriously?
CARA: Oh, I'm so sorry. I said his name before I realised. Are you okay?
HOLLY: Oh, umm... yeah. Yeah. It's just still a bit weird.
CARA: Yeah. Well, we should probably let the police know, in case he's left anything behind that they could use as evidence.
HOLLY: Oh, I can do it.
CARA: Are you sure?
HOLLY: Yeah. I mean, I'm across everything that happened. I'll call Andrew right now.
Cara thanks her, and asks Holly to let her know how it goes. But once Cara's gone, Holly puts the phone down and heads to the gym area. Waiting until guests have vacated the area, she grabs the bag of cash from the locker and bundles it onto a maid's trolley, before making her escape with it...

Mackenzie and Haz are discussing seating plans for the wedding - but Haz is distracted looking into the arrangements to get Trevor into France, which is 'kind of a nightmare'. He says he also still needs to tell his parents and his sister Amira about the wedding. Mackenzie mentions his brother too, but Haz says his mum and dad can handle that, as he's got enough on his plate.
MACKENZIE: I don't know what I'm gonna tell my dad when I call him.
HAZ: Yeah. Well, I really don't have time for family politics. I'm just gonna tell them we're getting married - be there or don't be, it's happening anyway.
MACKENZIE: I guess it's a little harder for me. Things happened very quickly with Hendrix too.
HAZ: Of course, yeah. That's so fair. You know, we don't have to do it this way. Like, we could put it off for six months - come back and get married. Or run away and elope? Whatever you want.
MACKENZIE: No, I want to do it now, with our friends. I can't help the reminders of Hendrix, but I can manage.
They hold hands, and decide to do the calls to their families together.
Lassiter's Hotel
Holly is now talking to Andrew on the phone for real, reporting the locker that's on the system under Heath's name, without mentioning the huge bag of cash she's already removed from it! It sounds from what she says like Andrew is going to come in and take a look, so Holly promises to leave the master key at reception for him. Cara now appears, overhearing the end of the conversation.
CARA: I thought you called Andrew earlier about the locker?
HOLLY: I did. He was unavailable - that was him calling me back.
Cara then asks why the maid's trolley is in the middle of the foyer, pointing out that it's a safety hazard. She's about to wheel it away herself, when a panicked Holly insists that she'll handle it, aware that her stash of cash is still nestled beneath the fresh towels. She wishes Cara luck at her disciplinary hearing as she hurries away with the trolley.

Haz has bad news about Trevor; he's spoken to the airline, and there's no way Trevor can get to France without spending at least two days in a pet crate. We learn Trevor failed crate training due to anxiety before Haz adopted him, but Haz has never done anything about it because he hadn't planned to go overseas. The airline has given Haz the phone number of a trainer who specialises in getting pets ready for travel.
MACKENZIE: Don't worry, Trev. We will get you over there one way or another.
But in his basket, Trevor is looking quite anxious already!
Eden University
Cara is in her disciplinary hearing, which is being chaired by Leona Meldrum, head of the IT department. She's telling them about Dex's involvement in her assignment and assures them the cheating wasn't intentional on her part - but nonetheless accepts responsibility for what has happened. The panel seems rather sympathetic to her situation. Leona explains it's rare for them to expel a student.
LEONA: Our aim is always to see our students succeed, so you won't be given a fail, either (...) You'll be allowed to resubmit the assignment, but under exam conditions, fully supervised.
CARA (relieved): Thank you.
LEONA: You're clearly very sorry for what happened. We can all see that.
CARA: You have no idea.

In the garden, Holly is looking for a place to hide her bag of cash! She tries the shed, but it's padlocked, so heads for the greenhouse instead and - rather imprudently - hides it in an already- open bag of potting mix. Just as she's emerging from the greenhouse, Karl appears with a load of parcels that have been delivered for her. He comments that she's been doing a lot of online shopping lately.
HOLLY: It's just a couple of things that I got on sale. I actually got a few bargains, like a real Kennedy. You should be proud of me.
KARL: Don't spend every cent you earn, though, hey? Pay yourself first (...) Oh, what were you doing in the greenhouse, by the way?
HOLLY: I... I just thought that I might do the watering.
KARL (laughs): The watering? You never do any watering, or any outdoor chores!
HOLLY: Maybe it's time that I started!
KARL: Well, I'd like that. It's best to water in the early evening, though. Reduces evaporation.
HOLLY: Got it. Cool.
KARL: Actually, you know, it's almost time to raise the tomato seedlings. We could do that together?
HOLLY (feigned enthusiasm): Sounds good!
She looks shifty as Karl walks off.
Eden University
The formal disciplinary hearing is over, but Leona sticks around to have a chat with Cara, who thanks her again for giving her a second chance. Leona assures her it's official procedure anyway. But...
LEONA: If you have a second, I wanted to ask you about your son.
CARA: Dex. Yeah, well, he feels terrible about what he did. And trust me, he knows it was wrong.
LEONA: Putting that aside... the solution he came up with was one of the most complex submissions I've ever read.
CARA: Complex in a good way?
LEONA: I don't use the term lightly - it was genius level.
CARA: Leona, I promise you, it was Dex who did the work. He actually wrote me a confession letter, but I didn't bring it because, at the end of the day, this is on me.
LEONA: I'm not doubting what you're saying. My point is, Dex has genuine talent.
CARA: Oh. I didn't even know that he was interested in this sort of thing.
LEONA: Well, it's up to him to decide, but... there are accelerated learning programmes for Gifted™ kids that he'd be perfect for.
CARA: Okay... I'll talk to my wife!
LEONA: Good! Maybe we'll see him here before he knows it.
Cara looks pleasantly surprised.

Mackenzie has sorted out a wedding dress fitting at the house tomorrow, so tells Haz he'll need to make himself scarce. Haz is a bit despondent and is fussing over Trevor, having had more bad news.
HAZ: Dogs can't travel for at least three weeks until after they've had their rabies shot.
MACKENZIE: And there are no exceptions?
HAZ: Even if there was, I spoke to the trainer, and he said that it's too short a time to desensitise him for travel.
MACKENZIE: Well, maybe... maybe we leave him here until we're settled, and we make sure that the Paris thing is gonna work out.
HAZ: Yeah. I just don't want to put him under any stress if we're just gonna end up back here anyway.
MACKENZIE: Yeah. And the others will love to look after him. They can get him crate training, and then you can always come back and get him.
HAZ: Yeah. Makes sense, but... it doesn't make it any easier leaving him.
MACKENZIE: He is so loved here.
HAZ (kisses Trevor): I just want to do things properly for him.
Lassiter's Complex
Cara reconvenes with Remi, and tells her that the disciplinary went well, and that she'll be allowed to resubmit. Remi is thrilled for her.
CARA: And in other, more exciting news - apparently Dex is a coding prodigy (...) She said we should be talking to the school about advanced learning for him.
Remi is also pleased about this, but the chat is interrupted by a phone call from the hospital. They need her to go in as there's been some sort of incident which is stretching the emergency department. They kiss, and promise to see one another at home later.

In the greenhouse, Holly is retrieving some of the cash from the bag of potting mix. She pockets it just as Melanie turns up looking for her, surprised to have heard from Karl about Holly's newfound passion for gardening! Holly again feigns enthusiasm. Mel admits she wanted to talk about the housewarming presents Holly bought her - she's feeling bad as they were so expensive.
MELANIE: It just doesn't sit right with me.
HOLLY: Seriously, Mel, it's fine.
MELANIE: No, actually, it's not. Sale or no sale, it's way too much.
HOLLY: I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. Nothing can make up for that.
MELANIE: ... I only did what anyone would've done. Do you still think about it?
HOLLY: Only every time I close my eyes... Do you?
MELANIE (nods): I do. But my experience was very different to yours.
HOLLY: I'm getting the support that I need. I'm talking about it.
MELANIE: Good. And I am here for you if you ever need to talk as well.

Susan is running through wedding procedure with Haz and Mackenzie. Susan explains that the usual requirements around the required timeframe for notifying of intention to marry will be waived in this case because of Mackenzie's job offer. Haz reveals he's had some career success himself, having reached out and been honest about his past to some cybersecurity firms in France, who are desperate to recruit reformed hackers.
SUSAN: I'm just so happy for you both. It seems like everything's falling into place.
HAZ (sadly): Yeah... it is and it isn't.
MACKENZIE (to Susan): We're gonna have to leave Trevor here. But only initially, right?
HAZ (to Trevor): Yeah. It won't be forever, buddy.
Trevor whines sadly in his basket.
Erinsborough Hospital
There's carnage in the emergency department, as several inmates from Warrinor Prison are brought in for treatment. A nurse, Toni Lorch, explains to Remi that there was a fight in the prison gym. Most of the injured have suffered blunt force trauma, but there has been one stabbing, and the victim is critical. Remi rushes off to see to him, and asks Toni to make sure the ward is locked down for security.
In the prisoner's room, the man on the bed is being given oxygen by a nurse and appears to have a wound to the abdomen. Remi grabs the injured man's notes.
REMI: Good afternoon - let's see what we've got.
But when she picks up the patient notes, she's immediately struck by the name - Rodwell, Felix James. She takes a look at the prisoner properly for the first time; it is indeed Felix. Remi looks disconcerted.
