Toadie has presented Karl and Susan with a gift - a relaxing getaway at the Highlands Hot Springs. They make grateful noises, but Susan says it wasn't necessary to get them a present.
TOADIE: And you didn't have to take me in. It's the least I could do.
SUSAN: You'll always have a home here. You know that.
KARL: You bet.
Holly comes in from the supermarket, also bearing gifts for the Kennedys. She's bought them French brie, truffle oil and more.
KARL: Goodness me, darling, I would never spend this much on groceries!
SUSAN: Oh, there's a shock (!)
Susan says Holly shouldn't be spending her wages on gifts for them, but Holly insists it's her treat, before quickly rushing out again, as Mackenzie and Haz have some 'exciting news' for her.
KARL: She seems to be doing better.
SUSAN: Yeah, I hope she's not just pretending for our sake.
TOADIE: We've had some pretty good chats. She's not bottling it up.
KARL: Yeah, I've been checking on her too. Ooh! Chocolate- coated strawberries. These are going to the spa!

Haz and Mackenzie have gathered Krista, Holly, Byron and Sadie together, and seemingly begin with a stern dressing- down for Byron and Sadie for gossiping behind their backs.
HAZ (sternly): Mackenzie and I have had a long talk about the ways you betrayed our trust. And...
MACKENZIE (smiling): And... we couldn't be more grateful. Which is why we have gathered you all here to day to say...
HAZ: We're moving to Paris!
EVERYONE ELSE: What?!
MACKENZIE: Oh, yes. And just one small, tiny thing - you know, whatever - we're getting married.
Everybody screams excitedly and jump up to hug and congratulate the happy couple.
BYRON: So you finally knocked your heads together.
KRISTA: I can't believe we're losing both of you!
HOLLY: Yeah, it's the end of an era!
Haz admits they don't have a wedding date sorted yet...
MACKENZIE: Although getting married in Paris does sound pretty spectacular.
KRISTA: Oh my god! Talk about a fairytale.
HOLLY: Here's to happily ever after!
Holly pops the cork on a bottle of champagne as celebrations get underway...
Lassiter's Hotel
New set alert! Leo comes into the locker room from the hotel gym after a workout, using a card (like the one Holly found in Heath's bag) to open one of the lockers and retrieve his stuff.
Paul is walking by and tells Leo that the florist the hotel uses has had a big cancellation, and has offered him a lot of stock for 'peanuts'. As the hotel can't really use the stock, he suggests Leo could use the flowers at the vineyard instead. But Leo explains they've just had a floral delivery yesterday.
Leo asks after Terese. Paul says he's keeping his distance from her as he promised, but he's sure she'll be working around the clock to keep her mind off things. As Leo leaves, a thought seems to occur to Paul...

Holly, Byron and Krista are in the kitchen. Byron asks Krista how things are progressing with the fallout from Tess and Heath's embezzlement shenanigans.
KRISTA: That's a fiasco. At least Tess is cooperating.
HOLLY: Probably trying to wangle herself a lighter sentence.
KRISTA: Yeah, probably. And at least most of the money that she stole from Sincast will be returned (...) Heath managed to burn through a lot of it before he died.
BYRON: There's no way to trace that?
KRISTA: No, he liquidated a lot of it to cash. At least our fraud insurance will cover it.
Holly is looking a bit tense in the corner following the mention of Heath, and Byron and Krista apologise for being insensitive.
HOLLY: Oh, no, that's okay. Be as flippant as you like around me. Honestly, I'm moving forward - especially today when there's so much happy news to celebrate.
But as Byron and Krista leave the room, it's clear there's something more going on with Holly.
In the garden, Sadie is suggesting to Haz that he get married in the regal gardens of Versailles, but he thinks it might be slightly out of their price range! Holly, Krista and Byron emerge onto the patio. Holly asks if moving to Paris will affect Haz's career plans. He says it will, but at least it will give him a clean slate.
Mackenzie is nearby, on the phone to her new employer. When she signs off the call in French, everyone laughs, and Byron says she's already sounding like a Parisian local.
MACKENZIE: They're gonna send over my new contract now. They're organising all our travel arrangements, plus one month's accommodation so we can find our feet...
HAZ: Okay, so why does it look like there's a catch?
MACKENZIE: They want me to start in two weeks.
Mack offers to help the gang find new housemates, but Krista tells them not to worry as they'll have enough to organise. Holly and Sadie offer to pitch in and help with everything.
HAZ: I need to put the café on the market ASAP. I need to figure out a way to get Trev to France, and talk to IT recruiters.
MACKENZIE: Yeah. I need to do a full handover with Toadie, and I don't know if my passport's up to date.
HAZ: I don't even know where my passport is!
But the others encourage them to just celebrate for today, as there'll be time for freaking out later!
Eirini Rising
In the courtyard, Terese, Susan, Karl and Harold are having a committee meeting. But the Kennedys and Harold have only been assigned one item to action each by Terese, while she's assigned herself everything else to do; and the others are keen to do more and pull their weight.
TERESE: Well, it's only because I'm across all the tasks. It's just easier if I take care of them.
SUSAN (concerned): Wouldn't you rather take it easy for a while, after everything that's been happening?
TERESE: ... Okay, everybody, please, just drop the pitying looks. I know I've got a lot on at the moment, but I promise I'm not about to collapse in a heap.
HAROLD: Well... meeting adjourned, then.
A woman approaches, Ruth Nicholas, wanting Terese to take delivery of a large order of flowers. Terese doesn't know anything about it; Ruth explains that Paul was going to text Terese. Sure enough, she looks at her phone, and Paul has told her to consider them a gift from Lassiter's, as they'll only be composted otherwise.
KARL: Very generous.
SUSAN: You don't suppose Paul's got an agenda, do you?
Terese simply says there's no sense in letting them go to waste, and leads Ruth away to deal with the delivery. Susan and Karl exchange a glance, which doesn't go unnoticed by Harold.
Community Centre
Later, Harold is headed to the community centre to check it out as a potential venue for an Eirini Rising yoga plan - his sole task from the committee meeting. Toadie is approaching and stops him to chat on the way in, saying he's been meaning for them to catch up. But Harold seems rather unkeen to talk to him.
TOADIE: Things have been a bit hectic lately.
HAROLD: Yes, I can well imagine.
TOADIE: Of course, yeah - you know. Maybe we could have a cup of tea and a chinwag.
HAROLD (evasive): The thing is, Jarrod, I'm rather run off my feet today.
Harold goes on his way. Toadie calls after him, suggesting they do it another time. But an unsmiling Harold doesn't even respond. Toadie looks concerned and walks off.
Ramsay Street
Leo and Krista are walking along the pavement when they run into Haz, and Leo congratulates him on his impending nuptials. But Haz is worried about the move to Paris, as there's a lot to organise, particularly the sale of the café. Krista suggests he could stay on as owner and hire a manager who he could deal with remotely. But Haz really needs the money from the sale to set him up in France.
KRISTA: How about this? If you don't sell it in time, I'll step in on your behalf. Yeah, I'll liaise with the broker and vet candidates, and just make sure the café stays running in the meantime. You wouldn't have to worry about a thing.
HAZ: You'd really do that for me?
KRISTA: Yeah. Consider it a wedding gift.
Additionally, Leo says he could introduce Haz to some property brokers he knows. Haz declares Krista and Leo 'the best' and hugs them, thanking them profusely.
Penthouse
Paul is working at his desk when Terese comes in. She wants to thank him for the flowers, which she says have really brightened up the common areas at Eirini Rising.
PAUL: That's good to hear. I hope you nabbed a few for your own office?
TERESE: I may have.
PAUL (smiling): Let me guess, the blue irises?
TERESE (smiling): The blue irises.
Seemingly concerned not to appear too keen, Paul tells Terese that he has to get back to work, and she heads off again. But as he returns to his desk, Paul looks thoughtful.

On the couch, Haz tells Mackenzie that he's spoken to a business broker Leo recommended, who is going to put the sale of the café in motion. Sadie, Byron and Holly come over to join them - they've been researching wedding venues in Paris. But both travel to Europe and accommodation in Paris for the wedding guests are proving to be very expensive. Mack suggests a short- term rental that could house everyone instead.
BYRON: I'm sure we can figure out a way to make it work.
SADIE (worried): And we can save, and maybe sell some stuff!
MACKENZIE: We're kidding ourselves, aren't we?
HAZ: So what? We just come up with another idea. We don't need to be in Paris to have the best day of our lives.
MACKENZIE: Yeah. Yeah, you're right. Okay, so what's Plan B?
Everyone else looks nonplussed.
Community Centre
Toadie is waiting to pounce when Harold comes out of the centre, and Harold looks deeply uncomfortable to see him again.
TOADIE: Hey, look, I felt a bit weird after our chat before.
HAROLD: Oh, Jarrod, I really must keep on the move...
TOADIE: Please don't fob me off. You're one of my dearest friends. I hate to... I hate to think that you don't want to talk to me?
HAROLD: If we really do have this catch- up, as you suggested, I know you won't like what I have to say.
TOADIE: ... Well, just say it.
HAROLD: Alright. Before your marriage to Terese... you looked me in the eye and you promised me that you were ready. You made vows to Terese, that you would love and cherish her as much as she deserved.
TOADIE: Yeah. I failed.
HAROLD: Oh, you most certainly did. You failed Terese, your children... not to mention the people who supported you, and loved you. I've seen you overcome so much - grow and thrive, despite the hardships. And I've always been proud of you. But I can't say I'm proud of you now. Not anymore. No.
Harold walks on his way without another word. Toadie looks crushed.
Eirini Rising
Karl and Susan approach Terese for a chat. They want to know where all the files they saved on the shared drive are, for their work on the intergenerational fitness programme. Terese admits she's archived them!
TERESE: Look, I decided that the programme needed a bit of a rethink. I want to look outside of the box, instead of the usual cookie- cutter classes.
SUSAN: Well, I know that it's simple, but that's why Jane's event was such a success. Look how Jasmine and Elenora bonded.
KARL: Yes, Elenora's made real progress with her help.
TERESE: Yeah, yeah, I know. I just... I still want to change it up.
SUSAN: Okay, yeah. Well, we can revisit the plans. But we're supposed to be collaborating, so maybe if you're gonna pivot like that, you could keep us in the loop?
TERESE: Oh. Yes, sorry. Of course.
Karl and Susan insist there's no harm done, but Terese looks guilty.
Penthouse
While Leo tidies up Abigail's toys, Krista explains to Paul about Haz selling the café so he can move to Paris with Mackenzie. Paul is concerned that two weeks isn't enough to secure a buyer, but Krista explains she's offered to take on oversight of the sale on Haz's behalf, and keep the business turning over in the meantime. Paul is not very impressed at this.
PAUL: Krista, you've just stepped up into a senior role here. I really do not think that you should be taking on Haz's problems.
LEO: Come on, Dad. Krista's proven she can handle it.
KRISTA: Helping out with Harold's won't interfere with my new role here.
PAUL: Yeah, you know what, that's easy to say. Until you spread yourself too thin, and then you find you can't back out.
KRISTA: No, I won't be doing that. As you just said, I've stepped up at the hotel. We're on equal footing. So, you can't veto my decisions. I'm helping Haz, and that's final.
Paul goes quiet, and doesn't look happy. Leo, however, looks impressed by Krista's assertiveness.

In the kitchen, Haz asks Mackenzie if she's sure she's okay with the decision they've made about their wedding.
MACKENZIE: I am. It's the best solution.
HAZ: Yeah, but our wedding shouldn't just be a solution to a problem. It's got to make you happy.
MACKENZIE: You make me happy. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
HAZ: I do like cake.
MACKENZIE: Well there's gonna be cake, and us, and our friends, and the rest of our lives. It's gonna be perfect.
They decide to tell Byron, Sadie and Holly, who are on the couch, what it is they've decided.
MACKENZIE: We don't want you to go broke just to come to our wedding.
SADIE: You don't have to change your plans just cos of me.
HOLLY: Yeah, we can find a way to make it work.
MACKENZIE: You won't have to. Because we're gonna get married right here.
HAZ: In the place that we met and fell in love. What could be more perfect?
MACKENZIE: (...) The only thing is, we are going to have to organise it all within a fortnight.
HAZ: So we're gonna need all your help, cos it's gonna be insane.
SADIE: Well, we can do insane. We're great with insane!
Everyone agrees to help make the wedding happen.
Harold's Café
Terese has agreed to meet with Toadie to discuss Nell and Hugo. She's adopted a civil but businesslike demeanour. Toadie explains that he always wanted her in the kids' lives, and that hasn't changed.
TERESE: Well, I appreciate it. And I'm still working through the plan that we discussed. But in the meantime, I'm happy to have the kids live with me for as long as they like.
TOADIE: Good. Good, yeah - so I was just thinking about the day- to- day life, like taking the kids to school, picking them up, school lunches... I should probably be doing all that.
TERESE: No - no need. Makes sense that I do it. I mean, they are living under my roof.
TOADIE: Yeah, but I mean, it's not really fair, though, is it, to you? You know, I'm their dad, and then, you've got a lot on, so...
TERESE (tersely): I said it's fine.
TOADIE: ... Uh, Terese, I know it's no longer my place to say anything, but I'm worried that you're taking too much on. It's not a healthy way to cope, and sooner or later something is gonna give.
TERESE: You're right. It isn't your place to say anything. I'll be in touch about the kids.
She gets up to leave, as Toadie looks concerned.
The Waterhole
Sadie and Holly are having a drink. Sadie admits she's feeling bad about freaking out over the cost of the Paris trip. Holly reassures her that Haz and Mackenzie are happy having their wedding here.
SADIE: Still, it's embarrassing when nice things come up and I have to be, like, 'No, sorry, too broke.' I need to start thinking about getting serious.
HOLLY: Serious about what?
SADIE: You know, life! I can't keep babysitting forever. I need a real job.
HOLLY: But you're still studying.
SADIE: Yeah, but I'll be finishing up soon. You know, I have to start adulting at some point. You know, earn some real coin.
HOLLY: it's a nice thought, being so comfortable that you never have to worry about money. Like, imagine being able to fly the whole crew to Paris for the wedding. How awesome would that be?
SADIE: You're not planning something crazy here, are you? Like, hitching yourself another Heath?
HOLLY: No, god no!
SADIE: Good. Well, let me know when you win the lottery. In the meantime, first thing tomorrow, I'll be updating my résumés.
Lassiter's Complex
Harold and Melanie are having a catchup in the courtyard. She says she's been meaning to invite Harold up to her new apartment.
HAROLD: Oh, I would love that. It must be wonderful having your own space.
MELANIE: Oh, it is. And just in time, because Karl and Susan's spare room is hot property right now!
Harold goes quiet, and Melanie asks if he's spoken to Toadie.
HAROLD: Yes, I have. I'm afraid I wasn't much comfort, though... Oh, Melanie, he's caused so much pain. To Terese, his children - even to himself. And I think that it was all so avoidable.
MELANIE: He wasn't aware, Harold. If he could've figured it all out without causing any heartbreak, I'm sure he would've.
HAROLD: That's a very gracious attitude.
MELANIE: What happened to us in the outback... it changed something in him. If he came home and ignored his issues, he would've been making it worse, and he knows that. So he's facing up to himself. And in my opinion, that's actually quite brave.
At this point, Toadie exits the café behind them. He sees Harold and looks sad, before walking on his way. But in an impulsive moment, Harold gets to his feet and calls out.
HAROLD: Jarrod?
Toadie turns around awkwardly.
HAROLD: Don't be a stranger. Please?
TOADIE (happier): Yeah. Yeah, I won't be.
All of them smile slightly.
Lassiter's Hotel
Leo comes into the gym changing rooms to retrieve a pair of headphones he left here earlier. As he leaves, Holly turns up, and calls out to make sure nobody else is there. She gets no response... so makes a beeline for the lockers.
Music of intrigue plays as Holly uses the card she took from Heath to open one of the lockers. Inside is a bag chock full of cash! Holly helps herself to a few notes, then locks the bag of money away again. Taking a deep breath, she goes on her way...
