Lassiters Hotel Exterior
Chloe shows Terese the jewellery she found as she thinks it looks exactly like Terese's missing wedding ring. Terese can't believe it's the same one considering she lost it at the conference, but when she tries it on it fits perfectly. Glen walks by, looking troubled when he notices Terese wearing the ring. He thinks it's the replacement one Paul bought her, and becomes alarmed when she mentions it's the OG. "Chloe found it in the hotel laundry," Terese adds, "I have no idea how it got there." But Chloe has a sudden thought: she knows Terese uses the hotel dry cleaning service, so it may have been in one of her jacket pockets.
TERESE: I lost it on the beach.
CHLOE: (gently) Were you drinking? You might have slipped it away without realising.
GLEN: That's a possibility.
TERESE: (uncomfortable) I was drunk, but it's still so bizarre.
CHLOE: What other explanation is there?
TERESE: I don't know, but all I do know is that I can't deal with it right now.
She takes the ring off and places it on the table.
Harold's Café
Harlow has a coffee with Paul and David and bemoans the fact that Chloe has been pestering her all day. "If she needs to keep tabs on anyone, it's Glen," Harlow states. David points out that it must be exhausting for Harlow constantly railing against Chloe and Glen. Harlow asks if David's patronising her, but David says he's not trying to. He thinks they should set up an appointment for her at the hospital to get her properly diagnosed for compassion fatigue, which Harlow answers with a pout. Paul notices Terese and Chloe walk in and Harlow comments that "guard dog Glen" must be on a break. She thinks Paul should check in with Terese, but while Paul would like nothing more than to take care of Terese, just being near her piles on the pressure, and he knows she doesn't need that right now.
Over at the counter, Chloe takes pity on Terese and says they could go somewhere else for coffee. Terese doesn't want to keep avoiding Paul, though, she just wants to live her life. But when Chloe asks if she's going to tell Paul about the wedding ring, Terese suddenly gets antsy and says she's going to head home.
Number 32
Aaron cautiously asks Jane if it would be okay for Paul to pop around for dinner that night as he's a bit upset about Terese and would like the company. Jane appears uneasy, but says she'll find a way to cope, as will Nicolette. "We survived Christmas day with Paul," Jane says, "I'm sure we can cope with a regular dinner."
Number 22
Roxy gets another text from Mick and tells Kyle she's surprised at just how efficient Mick is. There are still a lot of decisions to make, though, and they only have one more week till their big day. Roxy notices Terese come downstairs and asks if she wants to help go through Mick's bonbonniere suggestions, but Terese says perhaps after she finishes her tea. Toadie then calls in on the premise of 'just saying hello' and chatting wedding stuff with Kyle and Roxy, but Terese knows he's there to check up on her too. Toadie brings up the topic of the bucks and hens nights, saying he's worried about what Roxy's told her maid of honour to do. "It's not on my radar," Roxy says, quickly changing the subject to meeting with the photographer in the afternoon. She's concerned about leaving Terese on her own, and tries to state it without raising suspicion, but Terese is on to them. When Toadie says he'll be around all afternoon, Terese looks a bit defeated about being babysat.
Number 22 Backyard
Later on, Glen drops by to see Terese. He notices her toying with the wedding ring and she says he must think she's crazy losing it over a piece of jewellery. Glen knows it's not just a regular piece of jewellery though. Terese mentions again how strange it is the ring turning up after all this time, but she supposes she could have literally done anything with it considering the state she was in at the beach. "Probably best not to overthink it," Glen says. He then wonders if she's up for an AA meeting.
TERESE: Look, I'm okay. I don't want to drag you there on my account.
GLEN: I'm going anyway.
TERESE: Are you struggling? (Off Glen's silence) I wouldn't be surprised with your memories of your accident.
GLEN: Just a little bit.
Harlow then wanders into the backyard. Terese says it's a surprise to see her, and Harlow comments that she wishes she could say the same about Glen, "but you're basically her shadow". Terese asks if Harlow's come to get the rest of her things, but Harlow points out that they haven't spoken since the rooftop accident.
HARLOW: I wanted to say I shouldn't have left you on that roof in that state.
TERESE: Thank you. I don't think either of us were ourselves up there really. But I'm okay.
HARLOW: No you're not. You know granddad's there if you need him.
TERESE: I know. And I really hope that he feels my gratitude towards him, but I need some space.
Glen says he should probably give Terese some space too. Terese thanks him for stopping by and tells him to let her know if he needs her later. "I'm all good," Glen says, heading off. Harlow's intrigued by this snippet of conversation and asks Terese why Glen would need her, but Terese just says what happened to her on the rooftop was difficult for Glen as well.
HARLOW: How?
TERESE: He's going through something, Harlow, and it's personal to him. So please just leave it.
Ramsay Street
Instead of leaving things be, however, Harlow has decided to follow Glen. She sees him walk down the street and sneaks off after him.
Community Centre Exterior
Harlow continues to follow Glen until he walks into the Community Centre. She's shocked when she spies on him introducing himself at an AA meeting.
Number 28
Roxy and Kyle thank Mackenzie and Hendrix for helping them choose a photographer, as they really needed a second pair of eyes. Mackenzie says they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, although Hendrix says if they find any double-ups of kitchen stuff in their wedding presents then he'll have them. Roxy says her and Kyle will have to head to the airport soon to pick up her mum. Mackenzie asks how the bridal party is coming along, but Roxy hasn't put one together yet. She says it's tricky at the moment given how Terese is, and things are still weird between her and Harlow. Mackenzie understands but she also thinks Roxy should just bite the bullet and ask one of them, "it's your wedding, you need your peeps around you".
The Waterhole
Leo is having lunch with Paul and tells him the licensing board rejected his application because they don't have closed wire netting on all their windows. He can't find a tradie to do the job and asks Paul if he has any suggestions, but they're interrupted by Harlow who promptly lets them know that Glen's an alcoholic. Paul and Leo are taken aback and ask how she knows. Harlow says she saw him in an AA meeting, then tells Leo he can't have an alcoholic working at a place that revolves around liquor. "Calm down, Harlow," Leo replies, "that's not the first thing on my mind here." Paul now understands why Glen has been so protective of Terese, "he's trying to shield her from something he's dealing with himself". They get quiet when Glen walks in. Glen tells Leo he got the email about the licensing malarky, but assures Leo he's on it. He then registers that they're all acting strange towards him.
GLEN: What's going on?
HARLOW: I saw you go into an AA meeting.
LEO: Is this true, Glen? Do you have a problem with alcohol?
PAUL: Does Terese know?
GLEN: Yes. Look, we need to talk about this.
LEO: Why didn't you say something?
GLEN: It's not relevant to where I'm at in my recovery. I wouldn't go to a distillery or a winery if I thought it was going to trip me up. Leo, please, you've got to believe me. I know what I'm doing.
Harlow appears dubious, while Leo and Paul exchange concerned looks.
Number 22
Terese attempts to take the lunch dishes away from Toadie, but Toad claims he lives to clean. Terese then says she's sure Toadie has more important things to do with his day, but he says he's cancelled all of his commitments.
TOADIE: You've got me for the rest of the afternoon.
TERESE: (weary) Lucky me.
TOADIE: Are you insinuating that my presence isn't a present?
TERESE: Toadie I'm sorry. I know you know that I love your company, and that I appreciate you being here.
TOADIE: But?
TERESE: But it's just everyone wanting to babysit me. It's too much, I feel guilty.
Jane then drops by with Aaron, David and Isla. They say they were just out for a walk and thought they'd visit. Terese tries to look appreciative but can't help but feel smothered by the attention.
Lassiters Penthouse
Harlow tells Paul that she doesn't understand why Leo isn't more worried about Glen working with him. "It's a massive red flag," she says. "Not so much the addiction but the dishonesty." Paul states that Leo isn't exactly taking things lightly, but Harlow's not paying attention, suddenly wondering if this was the big secret that John Wong discovered. Paul doesn't get why John would have omitted that information, but Harlow says maybe Glen got to him first. "Don't tell me that sounds so farfetched," she quickly adds when Paul rolls his eyes. "Not with all the lies Glen's told."
PAUL: He didn't lie, he just didn't tell us.
HARLOW: What's the difference?
PAUL: Addiction is a very complex and personal thing. Now you should know that from living with Terese.
HARLOW: The way I see it, Glen has kept a huge secret from you. About something that's helping him bond with your wife. He can't be trusted. This whole family needs to wake up.
Number 22
Terese is trying to read while Toadie rambles on about how cute Isla is. Her peace is further interrupted when Roxy arrives home with Mackenzie and Hendrix in tow. She takes refuge in the kitchen, while Mackenzie quietly asks Roxy if she's going to ask Terese to be in the bridal party. Roxy doesn't think it's the right time, but Mac says she'll feel better once she does. Hendrix calls Toadie over to check out some bucks night inspiration on his phone, giving Roxy a chance to have a moment alone with Terese.
ROXY: Aunty T, when I first arrived here I was a hot mess. But no matter how much trouble I caused, you were always there for me. And I love you for that - and I love you for a bazillion other reasons. And that's why I wanted to ask you to be my matron of honour.
TERESE: (looking touched but unsure) Roxy-
ROXY: I'm not pressuring you, if you're not up to it, that's okay. You can just be a guest. You can be a guest of honour, even!
TERESE: Well, if you really want me to-
ROXY: Hey, don't do that, okay. If you have to force yourself it's not fair on either of us.
TERESE: I can't be your matron of honour, Roxy, I'm sorry. You deserve better.
Roxy puts on a brave face and says it's okay, but she looks upset when she signals to Mackenzie that it was a no. "At least you've got Harlow," Mackenzie says, but Roxy doesn't look entirely sure about that.
Lassiters Laundry Room
Harlow watches as Roxy wheels in a tray with one solitary chocolate muffin sitting atop of it. Roxy smiles and says it's an "I miss you muffin", she just really wants the Harls and Roxy show back on air. Harlow apologises for not having more time for wedding chit chat, but Glen has been such a time suck lately. She claims things have been getting worse and worse and she's the only person picking up on it. Roxy tries to be understanding, saying she's been under the pump lately herself, but Harlow barrels on and keeps grumbling about Glen. Roxy makes one more attempt to ask Harlow to be a bridesmaid, but Harlow just gives her the brush off and asks if they can talk later as she's far too busy worrying about Glen. Upset and fed up, Roxy takes the chocolate muffin and leaves.
Harold's Café
Leo tells Paul that he wants to do the right thing by Glen, but he doesn't think having an alcoholic working at a vineyard is the best idea. While Paul isn't happy with Glen for keeping secrets, he also says it's obvious he's trying to rebuild his life. And now that Leo knows about Glen's situation he's got a good opportunity to support him - they all do. Glen walks in and joins them, confused when Paul says he was just thinking about how this would be a good opportunity for all of them.
GLEN: Excuse me?
PAUL: Your addiction. It's obviously taken a toll on you.
GLEN: How I deal with my alcoholism has nothing to do with you.
Glen then says he needs to talk to Leo alone, so Paul gives them privacy. Glen says he's got a plan for the window netting - he called the licensing board and got another inspection time in a couple of days. Leo thinks Glen must have found a tradie, but Glen says he's just going to watch a DIY video online because he'll do whatever it takes to keep his job.
GLEN: I like it and I'm good at it. But it's not even about that.
LEO: Then what is it about?
GLEN: You and our family, and giving me the chance to keep connecting with you all.
LEO: And is dad included in that?
GLEN: I want things to be better. I'm not sure if they can, but that's what I want.
LEO: Well your job's safe, mate. You're part of the team.
The Waterhole
Glen is eating dinner when he notices Harlow walk past and stops her for a chat. He wants them to call a truce. He knows she's been through a lot and it's made her act a certain way - the same goes for him. Harlow says they're nothing alike, but Glen admits he's worried she's turning into Paul. "You mean the same guy who's trying to support you right now?" Harlow retorts.
GLEN: Me and your granddad, it's complicated.
HARLOW: All right, you want me to back off? Be honest, what were you hiding in that safe?
GLEN: (takes something out of his pocket and holds it up) My five-year sobriety coin. I found it in the bathroom. Told Chloe. So, truce?
HARLOW: No, I don't trust you. And I don't think your motives will ever be sincere when it comes to granddad and Terese.
GLEN: Maybe I'll prove you wrong.
HARLOW: Maybe, but I don't think so.
Number 30
Roxy and Kyle are hanging out with Toadie, Mackenzie and Hendrix. Roxy says she told Terese she understands her not wanting to be in the wedding, but Toadie knows it still stings. "I shouldn't take it personally though," Roxy says. "It's the same with Harlow. I know she's not well, I should be easier on her." Kyle wonders if Roxy will try again with Harlow but Roxy doesn't see the point. Trying to lighten the mood, Mackenzie reminds Roxy that her mum will be here soon, but Roxy says Gemma's flight keeps getting delayed. Roxy then gets a text and is disappointed that Mick couldn't get the baker they wanted to make their cake. So Mackenzie then volunteers Hendrix to make the cake, which he's more than happy to do. Looking touched, Roxy then asks Mackenzie if she'll be her bridesmaid.
MACKENZIE: Are you serious?
ROXY: Absolutely. You've been such an incredible friend. Having you by my side through all of this is exactly what I need right now.
Thrilled, Mackenzie says she'd love to be bridesmaid and gives Roxy a hug.
Number 22
Glen tells Terese since the last time he saw her this morning he's been spied on, dobbed on, came close to losing his job and he's moved out of Lassiters and into the Flame Tree. "At least everything's out in the open now," Terese points out. Glen can't help but stare at the wedding ring sitting on the coffee table. He then thanks Terese for giving him mates rates at the hotel and asks how her day was. Terese says it was tiring and she's looking forward to some quiet time. When Glen hears that no one else will be home, he says he'll hang out for a while because he knows how hard nights can be. But Terese assures him that she just needs some time alone and can handle everything.
TERESE: Even if I was tempted, which I won't be, there's no booze here. I just need some space and some privacy.
GLEN: Okay, well if you change your mind or if you need anything, give me a call.
Just as he's about to leave, however, a delivery guy appears at the door and hands Glen a package in a brown paper bag. Terese is caught when Glen opens the bag to reveal the wine she bought.
