Lassiters hotel (Glen's room)
Glen explains to Paul why he has been devious - to see if Paul had changed or not... he hasn't! "You don't know anything about my life today," Paul points out, but Glen's comeback is that his behaviour is just like it was 30 years ago. Glen then adds that Paul was only nice in the aftermath of the accident... because of the threat to suing him.
PAUL: That's something I'm not proud of.
GLEN: You drove everyone away from me. Do you have any idea how that felt?!
PAUL: ...
GLEN: Going into rehab, trying to put my life back together, wanting to connect with dad and Helen and Lucy... but I couldn't.
Glen also blames Paul for not being able to go to Jim's funeral too. Paul does look genuinely remorseful and tries to explain that things were bad for him too in the aftermath, dealing with his own mental health issues.
GLEN: Of your own making!!! Then what did you do with your life?! A few years on the run, stint in prison, kids, wives all round the world that can't stand you!
PAUL: You've really done your homework haven't you?!
GLEN: And here we are again, and you're still up to your old tricks.
Paul admits that just like everyone, he has made mistakes, but is clear that he loves Terese. "On your terms," Glen points out and thus "makes her life hell." Glen also gets in that he's hurt David and Leo too.
The penny finally drops for Paul why Glen is in town - revenge and being punished. "It's not punishment," Glen replies with, but "protection."
GLEN: And if along the way, you end up all alone... like I did, I won't waste any time feeling sorry for you.
Number 32
"You two seem happy," David comments to Chloe after seeing how well she and Nicolette were bantering with each other about a sunglasses story, before Isla demanded some attention by crying. She admits to David that she doesn't want to "get ahead of herself" but tells him about a "spark, like we had before" while they were out. Chloe confirms she wants to be back with Nicolette and is getting that vibe from her too.
Number 26 (garden)
Karl finishes checking on Kyle and even though the lad isn't feeling great, medically he is fine and his symptoms "are typical of chemotherapy." Before leaving, Karl prescribes rest and plenty of fluids... and persuades Kyle to eat some soup Sheila has brought, even though to Kyle all food tastes metallic.
The Waterhole
Susan is checking in with how Terese is doing when their conversation is interrupted by Paul wanting to talk about Glen!
"He's out for revenge," Paul tells her and is also responsible for every bad thing that has happened to Glen! Terese reminds Paul about what Glen went through after the accident, "which wasn't my fault," Paul is quick to say.
PAUL: Alright, I may have behaved poorly at times, but that doesn't make me a scapegoat for all of his mis-fortunes doesn't it?!
Paul isn't amused to find out that Terese already knew how Glen was feeling [about him]. "I encouraged him to give you the benefit of the doubt," she says in her defence, adding it also isn't "about taking sides" either... and what is happening between the brothers gives her proof she shouldn't be getting involved too!
Penthouse suite
Despite Paul telling Leo what Glen said to him and thinking that "time has messed with his memory," he isn't too enthralled to see that Leo isn't firmly in Glen's corner.
LEO: I'm just trying to see it from Glen's point of view.
PAUL: The man is trying to ruin my life just as he mistakenly thinks that I ruined his and now he's got you on his side!
Paul demands that Leo fires Glen, but Leo isn't being hasty, and indeed reminds his dad the vineyard is his business and thus "I make the decisions!" "You cannot trust this man," Paul tries to say, and his PI will back him up too... once he hires him that is! Despite the warnings Paul is giving him, Leo doesn't think its time for "the big guns" to be called in "just yet."
Lassiters Complex (next day)
Nicolette and Jane are having breakfast outside Harold's when Chloe interrupts to say how nice it is to see Jane out and about. Jane admits the fresh air is doing her wonders before watching on as the pair exchange small talk before Chloe goes into Harold's get her order.
"Still feeling good about how yesterday went?" Jane asks, to which Nicolette confirms she is glad their friendship is being rebuilt. Hesitantly, Jane asks if its just friendship and Nicolette admits she did think a lot about Chloe last night and would like it to be more.
NICOLETTE: I can just see how good we could be... or maybe I'm just reminiscing about what was?
JANE: Yes, that is possible.
NICOLETTE: Or maybe I'm just terrified of having my heart broken again, because if that's the case then, its not a good idea to suppress my feelings. It could be different this time?
JANE: It could be if you're both open about things.
NICOLETTE: I loved her so much for so long.
Nicolette admits the "feelings are still there" and is curious over what her mum thinks. Jane is somewhat sitting on the fence - happy to listen but its Nicolette who needs to make the choice. She advises her daughter that there is no rush, she will "know what feels right."
Number 28
Roxy is really worried about how Kyle is doing, that she's taken him for another check up with Karl. Karl is happy they came over, "better to be safe," he adds after confirming that Kyle's temp is fine so doesn't think he has an infection.
Hendrix and Mackenzie arrive back from the camping trip and the pair seem confused about Kyle looking "peaky." Its Karl who brings the pair up to speed and Hendrix especially looks shell-shocked at hearing what is wrong with Kyle.
Lassiters Complex
While Terese is happy that Glen has come clean with Paul, she questions if its right he still sticks around especially since she (and Leo) don't need protecting. Glen feels he has unfinished business and can't move on until he "makes peace with it." "Peace is a good goal," she agrees but doesn't think "being at war" with Paul will help him achieve that! "I'm not going to let him hurt anyone else," Glen says but then it goes all mumbilitis as the camera cuts from them to Paul who is standing outside the hotel and we see him get his mobile out to call PI John.
Number 28
Hendrix is feeling guilty for not being able to reciprocate his support to Kyle. Susan explains that Kyle deliberately didn't tell him so that he (and Mackenzie) could enjoy their holiday. Karl and Susan are full of praise for the lad, because his scare encouraging Kyle to get checked out and now he's back, Hendrix can help Kyle now.
After the K's leave, Mackenzie reassures Hendrix that he wasn't to know about Kyle, but the lad feels "like the worst friend in the world."
Lassiters Complex
Leo discusses with Terese the quandary he is in over Glen - Paul thinks he's out to cause trouble whereas he is unsure. "That's because you have empathy," is her explanation and agrees with him that Glen has been underhanded. He asks if he's made an error employing Glen, however she doesn't give him an answer, instead suggesting to Leo that is a conversation he needs to have with Glen.
Number 32
Jane reassures Nicolette that she is "all good" ahead of going for her final check up at the hospital (Clive texted to say he was outside). David heads off with Jane too, wanting a lift to the complex, and before he goes tells Nicolette to give Isla some baby paracetamol at 7, as the wee toot is running a bit of a temperature.
The Waterhole
Kyle is gingerly led into the pub by Roxy on a double date with Mackenzie and Hendrix. Sheila only wants him there for 30 minutes but Hendrix plans to ignore that as Karl wants Kyle to socialise, to help take his mind off things.
Despite the protestations of Sheila and Roxy, Kyle and Hendrix head off to play pool, but as soon as Kyle breaks, he feels nauseous and hurriedly heads for the toilets.
Number 32
Nicolette is having a battle to settle Isla... that is until "super Auntie" Chloe arrives and immediately gets her to settle!
Number 26
Hendrix lets himself into the garden where he finds Kyle on one of the loungers.
HENDRIX: I feel like crap.
KYLE: Join the club!
Hendrix apologises for his plan to make Kyle feel better backfiring. Kyle reassures him that he'd have thrown up wherever he was. Even though he feels guilty at not being there for Kyle earlier, like he was with him, Hendrix wants Kyle to know that he is there now for him. Kyle admits that despite how things turned out, it was nice being in the pub, feeling normal, and so thanks Hendrix.
Penthouse suite
"Why do I get the feeling this is some sort of ambush," Paul comments when he noticed the welcoming committee of David and Leo waiting for him as he gets out of the lift. "We just want to chat," David explains, and Leo adds in that he's spoken to Glen too.
PAUL: You mean the story he's peddling!
Leo concurs that Paul isn't responsible for the bad things that happened to Glen... but adds that the part he did play, did have a "lasting impact."
PAUL: Here we go again, I'm the real reason that Glen didn't come to dad's funeral yadi yadi yah.
Leo tries to get Paul to realise how much guts it took for Glen to come looking for his dad to build a relationship with him... and then when he needed the family they weren't there, because Paul had turned them against Glen. "That's a slight distortion of history," Paul points out because "they chose to side with me." Leo thinks how Glen felt is just as valid and David tries to get Paul to think how he'd feel if they turned on him.
DAVID: We've been through a lot these past few years but even at the worst of times, we knew you cared about us.
LEO: Yes, he felt like his family didn't care about him at all.
Paul hears where his sons are coming from but thinks it doesn't excuse Glen's behaviour.
PAUL: He's shown his true hand alright and given us every reason not to trust him.
DAVID: Okay then, call in your PI, try to bring him down... but then you miss this opportunity to make things right.
LEO: You've heard him dad, and if you meant it when you said you wanted to reconnect with him, now's the time.
Number 32
After having had her bath, Nicolette is chuffed that Chloe now has Isla sleeping. Chloe doesn't want the plaudits, just happy to have been able to help out... and equally enjoy seeing Nicolette dressed in a robe.
The mood between the pair heightens, both reluctant to make a move until eventually Nicolette does and walks forward and the pair start to kiss.
