Harold's Café
Paul brings Jane a drink and tells her Clive has been texting him to ask if she's okay. Jane replies that she feels horrifically ashamed and embarrassed that she hit Paul, but Paul says it's fine. Breaking into tears once more, Jane says she doesn't understand how Nicolette could just up and abandon her whole life. She asks Paul for more clues as to what Nicolette's demeanour was like when he saw her, or if she gave away any hints about where she was staying. But Paul just takes Jane's hand and gently says that Nicolette's an adult and Jane has to let her daughter make her own choices, "whether you agree with them or not".

Lassiters Hotel
Harlow tells Jesse she's filling in for Chloe after she took the day off, so now Shay has been constantly bombarding her with texts about the investment. Jesse wonders what the hold-up with the investment might be, as Terese seemed keen to go, but Harlow thinks it's due to all the sudden family issues that have cropped up. Speaking of Terese, she rushes in and updates Harlow about the baby and how she feels sorry for Jane. She then apologises to Jesse for dragging her feet on the Quill investment, but assures him it's still a priority and she intends to speak to Paul about it soon. Harlow then asks Terese if she can take a quick break to meet Isla.

Number 32 Backyard
Sheila is visiting the baby while David and Aaron overpack Isla's bag with supplies before they go on her first walk around the neighbourhood. Sheila teases them about bringing three types of sunscreen along, then drags David inside for a baby-rearing lesson. Harlow pops by and Aaron introduces Isla to her cousin. Harlow wishes she could stay awhile but things at work are hectic now Chloe's taken the day off. This is news to Aaron - he did see Chloe at the hospital last night but she's been AWOL ever since. Harlow says he should tell her to visit Isla, "no one can be sad with this little love bug around". Aaron muses on this.

Lassiters Hotel Office
Terese asks how Jane is and Paul says he thinks he's convinced her that endlessly chasing answers won't do Nicolette any good. But Terese says that if she were in Jane's position nothing would stop her searching for her kids. She then asks Paul if he's got time to go over the Quill investment documents, but Paul says it's not really his number one priority at the moment.

TERESE: But it's at the top of my list. Look, the deal's sound, the money's sorted, all we have to do is sign on the dotted line.
PAUL: Darling it's been a big few days, my head's not really in the right space to make a decision.
TERESE: I've already made the decision, Paul.
PAUL: All I'm asking for is a little time to get up to speed. Anyway, it's not going to do Shay any harm to wait a couple of days. Surely it's in our best interests to make it clear we're calling the shots on this.

Acquiescing, Terese says she at least wants to go over the documents with him. Paul obliges but looks worried.

Lassiters Complex
Amy and Levi stroll through the complex near Harold's, arms wrapped around each other. Amy can't think what to buy Levi for his upcoming birthday, joking that she could offer herself as a present. "Happy birthday to me," Levi grins, before leaning in to kiss her. Sheila glares at them from out front of the pub, stopping an unsuspecting Chloe in her tracks so she has someone to gripe with. "This whole business is ridiculous and greedy," Sheila frowns, as Levi and Amy part ways. Two seconds later she watches Ned sneak up behind Amy and give her a kiss hello. Sheila grumbles some more, but all Chloe can muster is an "each to their own I guess". Scoffing, Sheila thinks Chloe would say that because she's on their side.

SHEILA: All you young people, all you want to do is rewrite the rules. Monogamy works if you work hard at it.
CHLOE: I don't know about that. But I do know what they're doing is not for me. The more people in a relationship, the more chance of getting hurt.

Chloe walks off and Sheila looks as though she's slightly remorseful for putting her foot in it given Chloe's current situation.

Harold's Café
Jane sees Chloe walk in and invites her to sit with her. Chloe says she feels silly, but she half hoped to see Nicolette burst out of the kitchen like everything was normal. Nodding in agreement, Jane says it's like everyone is ready to move on but she can't. Chloe thinks that won't happen anytime soon, especially with Isla around. She can't even look at her niece without getting upset. Aaron enters the Café and is happy to see Jane and Chloe. He tells them about Isla's first stroll around the 'hood and figures she liked what she saw as she didn't poop or spit up along the way. Aaron invites them back to his place to see the baby. Jane and Chloe are hesitant, but Aaron thinks it's important that they see Isla.

AARON: I know this might be hard, but I want my daughter to know her family. You guys are so important to us and I want her to be important to you too.

Lassiters Hotel
Harlow tells Terese that she can't decide if Isla looks more like Nicolette or David. "Is it weird that I can see Aaron in there as well?" she wonders. They're soon joined by Jesse, who feels bad about asking if Terese has spoken to Paul yet, but he can't help his curiosity. Terese says she did but Paul needs a few more days to get his head around everything. "If you can make it happen sooner, wouldn't you rather that?" Jesse asks. He thinks since Terese was so eager to get the ball rolling it'd make sense to just go ahead with it now.

TERESE: (smiling) Okay, I'll call Shay and express a formal interest. I know Paul's good with the deal in principle, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I make a verbal commitment.

Jesse looks immensely pleased.

Number 32
David is talking baby talk with Isla when Aaron arrives home with Chloe and Jane in tow. Aaron teases him about his baby voice, but David retorts that he read it's good for her development. Jane is hesitant when Aaron asks if she'd like to feed Isla her bottle, but when David hands her over, Jane can't help but be smitten. Chloe also manages a smile watching them bond. Jane sits on the couch to cuddle with Isla and says she's in good hands with her daddies, but she mustn't forget her mummy. David and Aaron look uneasy with all the Nicolette talk, but they don't want to deprive Jane of connecting with her granddaughter.

JANE: She loves you very much and she will be back soon. I'm going to make sure of it. Don't you worry about a thing, your Nanna Jane is onto it.

Lassiters Complex
Amy has a coffee outside Harold's and watches Ned sketch on a napkin. She thinks he should put his art skills to better use and teases that she could pose for him naked, wearing only a necklace. "Thank you James Cameron," Ned grins, before asking if all women have the same Titanic fantasy. Their nice time is interrupted by Sheila placing an obnoxious sandwich board out the front of the pub with the following written on it: Cheaters Special - 2 dishes for the price of 1. Sighing, Amy asks Ned if they can go, but Ned says not to let Sheila ruin their day. However, Amy can think of better ways to spend her time than be judged by Levi's grandma. Sheila offers them a smug little wave as she heads back into work, but Ned's more fixated on Amy's words. "What sort of better things?" Ned asks, looking intrigued when Amy says they could get adventurous.

Lassiters Hotel Office
Terese plonks the Quill contract in front of Paul and tells him she called Shay to let her know the deal's going ahead. Terese is keen to start once Paul's read the report, she doesn't want to wait for another investor to slide in and take their glory. Frustrated, Paul says he's not happy to commit just yet as a lot of things have changed since last week.

TERESE: The facts and the figures haven't. Nor has my capability. Listen, I have gone through this very carefully as have our lawyers. I understand you don't have the headspace to deal with this right now. And I am trying to help you by taking things off your plate, it's called teamwork.
PAUL: Except teammates usually consult each other before making million dollar decisions.
TERESE: That's why I'm asking for your approval so I can call them back and confirm that we're going to use the loan!
PAUL: I am sorry, but I am not making a decision until I have had a chance to look at all the financials.
TERESE: What, so you don't trust my judgement?
PAUL: Of course I trust you, darling, but this is a huge undertaking. And I do not enter lightly into these sorts of things without checking the fine print first.

Paul gets a text from David and says he has to go, which aggravates Terese. Paul looks concerned as he heads out the door.

Number 32
Chloe coos over Isla and promises her she'll teach her all about bargain shopping when she's older. Paul stops by, concerned to hear from Aaron and David that Jane brought up Nicolette earlier. Aaron says Jane has every right to be worried about her daughter, but Paul thinks holding out false hope is just pointless. He adds that Jane's feelings shouldn't have to be the boys' priority at the moment, which irks Chloe.

CHLOE: Jane and I understand that you don't want Nicolette here, but we love her and we can't just move on.
AARON: Chloe, come on, we haven't moved on. We're just trying to make do.

He joins David over at Isla's bassinet while Chloe and Paul keep talking in the kitchen.

PAUL: Has Jane talked to you about trying to track her down at all?
CHLOE: Of course. She's determined not to let Nic go again.
PAUL: But this is a different situation.
CHLOE: Yeah it is. Nic has just given birth and she is out there all alone completely unsupported. There is no way Jane's going to give up until she's found her.

This is not music to Paul's ears.

Erinsborough Greenway
Harlow is about to stroll through the greenway when she hears Amy and Ned around the corner, who are in the process of stripping off their clothes. Horrified, she bolts away only to run smack bang into Sheila. Grappling for an excuse, Harlow tells Sheila that some irresponsible dog owner left pooh everywhere and that they should leave. But Sheila's outraged and determined to wait for the owner so they can make a citizen's arrest. Harlow's lie falls apart when Amy and Ned suddenly sprint out of the greenway, clothes in disarray, after accidentally disturbing a bull ant nest. Ned and Amy think it's funny, but Sheila's annoyed. When the pair run off, Sheila gets mad at Harlow for trying to protect them.

SHEILA: How can you condone such an unholy situation when someone is likely to be pushed aside and really badly hurt?
HARLOW: Well to be honest I haven't really thought about it. But knowing what they're doing in there right now, I think I'm gonna go.

Quill Hotel
Jesse assures Shay that Terese is keen to go ahead with the deal, so she can dial down the stress levels. But Shay will only relax when Terese brings over the signed contracts. Jesse says he'll be happy to help around the place once everything's settled, which earns a smile from Shay. It doesn't last long, though, when Terese calls in to see them with some bad news. She says she's going to have to "walk back" her interest. It's not a no, but they need more time and at the moment Paul's too busy sorting out some personal matters to do big business. Panicked, Shay reminds Terese that she's in a very vulnerable financial situation at the moment.

SHAY: Without this investment we're in danger of folding.
TERESE: Can't you last a few more days?
SHAY: I don't know! I'm sorry, this is a very stressful situation. But if you can't commit now I'll be forced to source a financier who can.

Number 24
Jane thinks Paul has come around to check up on her, but Paul says he heard about her visit with Isla and that it might have been difficult for her. "Seeing her, she's so like Nicolette," Jane says, then adds that Isla will have her mother back eventually. Paul reiterates that it was Nicolette's decision to stay away and give Isla to her rightful parents, but Jane says that they're not her only parents.

PAUL: Maybe you should be focusing on the people who need you here and now, like your granddaughter.
JANE: Isla needs her mother.
PAUL: Nicolette doesn't want to be found.
JANE: Well I don't care. I'm going to find her and I'm going to make her realise that leaving her baby was the wrong choice.
PAUL: Really? And how exactly do you propose to do that?
JANE: Your PI, John Wong.
PAUL: What?
JANE: I've hired him to track down Nicolette. He's done it once he can do it again.
PAUL: Jane that's crazy.
JANE: I need my daughter here with me, and so does Isla. And there is nothing you can say that will convince me to give up.

Lassiters Complex
Sheila rushes up to Levi as he's leaving work and says she wants to report a crime. Levi thinks someone has hurt Sheila, then quickly loses interest when Sheila tells him she just saw "your girlfriend with her other boyfriend being extraordinarily over-friendly in the bushes". She claims she was appalled, but Levi just rolls his eyes.

LEVI: Really, Gran? This coming from a woman who told me all about her playing doctors and nurses in Clive's office at the hospital.
SHEILA: Oh, but that was different.
LEVI: Didn't he have a girlfriend that time as well?
SHEILA: I meant we locked the door.
LEVI: Gross. And I'm going.

But Sheila stops him and says Amy's making a fool of him. She's convinced their agreement is going to land Levi in a whole world of pain, but Levi is pretty chill about the whole situation.

LEVI: You know every relationship has a chance to blow up.
SHEILA: No, normal relationships have necessary rules. You're letting yourself be cheated on.
LEVI: It's not cheating.
SHEILA: But you like Amy don't you?
LEVI: Yeah, she's great.
SHEILA: So it doesn't bother you that she's doing it with somebody else and everybody knows about it?
LEVI: Nope. I know what you're thinking, and it's weirding me out that I'm not getting jealous. But for some reason I'm not.
SHEILA: Even when you know that she's been rolling around in the bushes, and he had his-
LEVI: Okay, okay. I know it looks strange to you, but this whole arrangement just feels right for me. For now anyway.

Sheila still doesn't look convinced.

The Waterhole
Paul has arranged for a little chat with John Wong about his business with Jane. He tells John that he and Jane are "dear old friends", which is why he wants John to drop the case. John reminds Paul that he was the one who wanted Nicolette tracked down in the first place, but Paul says he only wanted the baby.

JOHN: I still have bills to pay. Why would I give up a paying job?
PAUL: When I was in Canberra, I paid Nicolette to stay away forever.
JOHN: And forget about her daughter?
PAUL: It was a sizeable amount of money.
JOHN: I'm sorry, Paul, but I signed a contract with Ms Harris.
PAUL: John I've put a lot of work your way over the years. So for once can you just do your job badly? Just as a favour to a loyal and well-paying client. Okay, it's going to be hard for Jane at first, but in the long run I think it's going to be better for everyone if Nicolette stays out of the picture.
JOHN: Do you really think so?
PAUL: Yeah I do.

Giving Paul a nod, John leaves.
