- Jesse explaining to Harlow why he didn't say anything to Shay and Tom.
- Everyone trying to work out where Nicolette has gone.
- Leo telling David a few home truths.
- David punching his brother!
- Leo wondering where Chloe and himself are now?
- David blaming Paul for starting things.
- Aaron letting rip at his sister.
- Leo leaning in to kiss Chloe!
Chloe pulls back from the kiss, telling Leo "this isn't what I want" and while she does care about him, it is not "in that way." He is fine with her saying no, however warns that because Nicolette makes her "so unhappy," she doesn't have a serious future with her.
After hearing that 'everyone' is looking after her, Chloe is quick to respond that she can take care of herself, however when she then hears why she got the job at the vineyard, Chloe isn't amused! "It came from a good place," he says to reassure her with but after adding everything up, Chloe accuses Leo of "manipulating me" and is now very relived she didn't make things worse by kissing him!
CHLOE: I didn't want to be with you before, I knew that, and I definitely don't want to be with you now!
"You don't have to do that," Jane says to Clive after hearing he's taking some time off work to support her. David and Aaron interrupt to say they've come to a dead end calling old work colleagues in Canberra and trawling through social media. Jane is resolute though that they'll hear something soon via her feelers, which David totally disbelieves, but is talked into going home and attempting to get some sleep.
"Don't let him get you down," Clive says to Jane after the boys have gone and praises her on how well she is handling things and is confident that Nicolette will turn up.
Jesse is surprised that Harlow wants to see him when the pair meet up in the bar. She wants to know what will happen when Tom and Shay find out he's been helping the opposition? "That's my problem," is his response but after a bit of gentle prodding, he admits that this is the kick up the butt he's needed to stop relying on Tom and Shay and to "stand on my own." Jesse admits it will be tough and asks that he can still be friends with her... and a chance to change Terese's mind too about him.
Terese spots Chloe staring into space and goes over to have a chat. She tries to reassure Chloe that yes, everything is hard just now but adds that there isn't a handbook over how she handles things.
Chloe tells Terese about the near- kiss with Leo, instigated by him, which certainly surprised Terese! "Are you attracted to him?" Terese asks and "I'm not" is the reply back. Chloe explains Leo helped her with the Nicolette situation unawares that there was a "whole other agenda" behind it.
CHLOE: Leo was a way to escape reality and I let it go too far.
TERESE: Because you still love Nicolette... right?
CHLOE: (nodding) I've stuffed her around so much, but yes, my head's finally straight. She's the one I care about.
Paul dishes out a verbal tongue lashing to his son after hearing about the move Leo made on Chloe. "Something came over me," is Leo's explanation as to why he went for the kiss. He then admits that before his return to Erinsborough, he was "lonely...really lonely" as it felt he'd never really "found his place" in New York. Paul is upset that Leo didn't confide in him and that he would never have judged his son either, even after Leo reminds his dad why he left Erinsborough in the first place.
LEO: I was lost. I needed to come back and be somewhere I felt like I belonged.
Leo apologises to his dad for sounding "dumb," which is instantly dismissed as Paul acknowledges that "we all need that." Leo then goes onto admit that the more time he spent with Chloe, he found himself being "hooked on her" and "I really started thinking about us being in a relationship together." "It's a shame she's in a complicated situation... too complicated!" Paul replies before reassures Leo that he made the right call returning to Erinsborough.
PAUL: Maybe now it's time to start focusing on other people that matter... like family.
Paul confirms it is David he is referring to as "he needs support" and asks that Leo thinks what his brother "is going through" after the rhetorical question of whether he wants David to "suffer alone?"
Number 32 (next day)
Aaron is telling Paul about the rough night the pair had when David interrupts to see if they've heard anything from the PI yet? Paul confirms he's not heard from John and an exasperated David is sure there is something they've missed out that will help them.
Aaron gets into the conversation that David would think clearer after a rest (since he didn't come to bed last night) but that is a red rag to a bull at the moment and its Paul that sends Aaron inside to get some coffee to stop the pair bickering.
Alone, Paul tries to repair bridges between the waring brothers by telling David that Leo is struggling and suggests that they could help each other out by talking? That comment earns Paul a death stare from David!
PAUL: Alright, will you think about it? He is still your brother.
DAVID: He doesn't matter to me anymore. The only thing that matters to me is finding Nicolette.
David isn't too impressed after arriving at #24 (with Aaron) to be told by Clive that it is a waiting game now, there is nothing else to be done.
However there might be some good news after Jane comes off the phone from talking to her cousin Toby. Nicolette has been in contact with him and he got the impression she was sussing out whether she could go stay with him. However, when Toby said he needed to run it by Jane (for Nicolette to stay) she apparently hung up. That infuriates David but Jane explains that Toby wasn't to know how messy things currently are.
David wants to go and see Toby now... and Jane gives him the news that Toby lives in Queensland. Jane is taking the call to Toby as a sign Nicolette is in Queensland, while Chloe interprets the call as meaning Nicolette is okay.
DAVID: This is a nightmare. Having a baby with Nicolette is the worst decision of my life!
Harlow drops by the office to tell Paul and Terese that Jesse kept quiet and so Tom and Shay have bought the dud piece of land. This surprised Terese but Harlow's explanation is that Jesse wants "to put things right by us." The lass then admits to meeting Jesse to try and "understand" even though she knows she shouldn't have anything to do with him. She then goes onto say Jesse wants to make "a clean break" from Tom and Shay and she'd like to help him achieve this. Terese isn't at all happy at this but Harlow points out that Jesse wasn't the one that caused the explosion and he has nobody to turn to (with his mum being in jail) whereas she at least has them.
HARLOW: Would you consider talking to him? Just once... please?
Jane is lamenting to Clive that when Nicolette returns, it's going to be hard for her to rebuild bridges with the boys. He though is sure that things will work out and to get the ball rolling, he plans on accompanying Jane to Queensland in case Nicolette does head to Toby's.
Chloe is also doing her bit too - putting up some 'missing person' notices on Facebook and has shared it with some Queensland groups too. She doesn't plan to go with Jane (and Clive) to Queensland just in case Nicolette is still local.
After getting a message from Jane about going to Queensland, Aaron relays that information to David. He wants to go too but Aaron warns that might cause Nicolette to take off again. David is just about a breaking point and wants "something concrete, something more than futile hope" like a call or a text from Nicolette giving "proof of where she is."
Aaron wants that too but knows they need to be patient.
DAVID: I'm done being patient!!!
Terese, Paul and Harlow sit round the table with Jesse to hear him admit that the spying was stupid and he didn't think how it would affect Terese.
JESSE: My family coming after yours again after Josh it's wrong. I should have said no.
"So why didn't you?" asks Paul and Jesse replies that his siblings blamed Julie for the business tanking and thus it was his "job to make it right."
PAUL: Shay using emotional blackmail, there's a surprised.
Jesse admits if he'd see through their plan he wouldn't have participated and offers his honest apology, which Terese appreciates him doing.
JESSE: Even though my relationship with Harlow is fake, I still really liked being around your family. I was more comfortable with you guys than my own family.
TERESE: Why is that?
JESSE: I guess never felt good enough, probably because they tell me all the time I'm not.
Terese asks what his plans are, at least job wise, and he reassures her that he will "figure it out" and "will be fine."
Community Centre (outside)
Leo is waiting for his brother outside the Community Centre and we hear when he exits that David was inside trying to talk to people from the antenatal class but its "a dead end."
David is angry at Leo talking to him but at least allows his brother the chance to apologise. Leo does that and adds he "feels terrible" about how things are between them as he wants to "be there" for his brother. He also promises to "do whatever it takes" to find Nicolette.
DAVID: I don't need your help. I don't need anything from you!
Lassiters hotel foyer
As they walk back into the hotel, Harlow thanks Terese and Paul for meeting with Jesse. They think that he was "genuine" with what he said although they know Tom and Shay "will make him pay." "I think he knows that, but it's not going to stop him," Harlow acknowledges before asking if the chat helped Terese? "I saw there was no point holding any grudges against him," is Terese's initial reply but does add that she sees parallels with where Jesse is now and where Josh was when his swimming career ended.
TERESE: He didn't know which way to turn after that.
Terese isn't quite ready to see Harlow have a friendship with Jesse and the lass gets it and thanks Terese "for even considering it."
While Harlow and Paul head upstairs to the office, Terese takes a moment to go and look at the memorial plaque to Josh (and Doug) that is in the hotel foyer.
David finds Nicolette's obstetrician (Stevie) to see if she has heard from Nicolette but she refuses to give out any information to him.
When he finds her at the rotunda, Leo confronts Chloe about what she has written in her post to track Nicolette down. He's confused at how keen she wants Nicolette home and thinks she's only done that out of guilt.
LEO: You know all your doubts about the future will come back as soon as she's back.
CHLOE: I'm not stupid Leo! I know we're still going to have issues, but I love her and I'm not losing sight of that.
She then announces that not only is she quitting the vineyard but she wants them to keep their distance too.
CHLOE: We can't be friends right now.
Its music montage time and as 'The Top' plays we see Jane and Clive get ready to leave #24 for Queensland. Leo standing pondering at the rotunda. While at the hospital, David seems to be calling all in sundry trying to track Nicolette down. In the complex, Chloe stops to look at the missing post she made on Facebook.
David spots Stevie again and begs her for information on Nicolette but again she's keeping quiet. She is also appalled at him wanting to break patient confidentiality too, but he "doesn't care what you think of me." If that was meant to be a starter statement, he's missed the boat as she goes to close the office door on his face! David stops the door from closing and asks that she "puts yourself in my position."
DAVID: She's carrying my baby. I have a right to know where they are!
Thankfully Aaron has arrived and thus can drag David away, whilst profusely apologising to Stevie.
DAVID: (in desperation) I can't handle not knowing where they are.
