Lassiters Hotel Exterior
Jesse is bewildered when Terese demands an explanation from him, so Harlow jumps in and 'explains' that Curtis found out his boyfriend was cheating on him, and the cheating partner is Jesse's friend. "Curtis thought Jesse was keeping it from him deliberately," Harlow adds. Terese thinks Curtis's reaction is ridiculous as it's not Jesse's responsibility, but Jesse says he's got it handled and it won't happen again.
Number 30
Mackenzie asks what happened with Curtis when Hendrix chased after him, but Hendrix says Curtis disappeared. Hendrix thinks they should check and see if Harlow's okay too. Mackenzie brings up how oddly 'okay' Harlow was when she told her about Jesse and Curtis dating. "She said that they weren't exclusive so it didn't matter," Mac says, which Hendrix thinks is very un-Harlow-like and wonders if she's in denial. Mackenzie says they should both keep an eye on Harlow so they're around when it hits her properly.
Number 26 Backyard
Roxy and Kyle are stunned when Ned tells them that Levi's mystery woman is Amy. Kyle feels awful that he was egging Levi on to have more fun, not realising he was pushing his cousin towards Amy. Roxy asks Ned how he's feeling about the whole ordeal.
NED: I was shocked. When she told me, I walked out - it was my own house.
ROXY: That's a pretty big reaction.
NED: I'm not angry or anything. They hooked up after she said nothing was going to happen between us, but I was still thinking about her, hoping.
Roxy and Kyle commiserate with Ned, but he insists he'll be fine. Kyle wonders how Levi will take the news when he finds out the full story. "What story?" Levi asks, as he walks outside to join them.
Number 30
Toadie sits out in the sunroom with a cuppa, while Amy has a lie down on the side ledge, recuperating after telling Ned about Levi. She feels bad that Ned looked hurt, but Toadie thinks it's for the best he knows the truth. "I guess, but I won't be hearing from the cowboy anytime soon," Amy pouts. Toadie wonders if she had her time again, would she still hook up with Levi? Amy shakes her head at first, then admits she probably would have. But it's all for naught anyway - she's not going to go there again with either of them.
TOADIE: I wouldn't be so sure about that.
AMY: Levi's classic 'mates before dates', don't you think? He's friends with Ned.
TOADIE: Mmm, you're probably right.
AMY: (dramatically) My days of dating younger men are over!
She flops back down in quite the strop.
Number 26 Backyard
Levi is still taking in the news as Ned explains there wasn't much between him and Amy, just a kiss. But he was keen for it to go somewhere. Levi asks if Ned still feels that way, but Ned says if Amy really liked him then something more would have happened already. Roxy can't help but wonder if Ned is as cool as he says he is, reminding him how cosy he looked with Amy this morning. "Amy's a free agent, she can be with whoever she likes," Ned shrugs. "And I didn't know she was hooking up with Levi when you saw us. That changes things." Ned assumes Levi feels the same way, but before Levi can answer, Kyle declares the whole situation too hard. Kyle also points out that Sheila would blow a gasket if she found out about Levi and Amy hooking up. "Right, yep, especially after the whole Shane and Amy stuff," Levi says glumly. Sheila suddenly appears and asks them what they're talking about, so Kyle says they're cheering Levi up because his mystery woman went AWOL. Sheila tells Levi not to worry, there's plenty more fish in the sea.
The Waterhole
Harlow tells Paul that she thinks Terese bought her lie before, but she's still stressing because things are getting messy. It's only a matter of time before the cover stories she's told Mackenzie, Hendrix and Terese interweave and then she's cooked. Paul says they need to act quick and feed Jesse one final piece of information. He wants Harlow to tell Jesse that Lassiters are hoping to build on a vacant plot of land next to a Quill Hotel, then the Quills will rush to snap it up instead. Harlow wonders how this story benefits their business. "Because the land is compromised," Paul gleefully explains. "And if the Quills fail to do their due diligence, which they will in their rush to outdo us, they're going to be left with a dud and take a huge financial hit." After that, Paul plans to fire Jesse. Harlow wants to let Terese know the truth too. Paul concedes they can let her know about Jesse's identity, but it's probably not necessary to let on how long they've known.
HARLOW: (affronted) Can you imagine if she finds out through anyone else? She'll never forgive us.
PAUL: Okay, okay, we'll do it your way.
Erinsborough High
Terese has spoken to Susan about the incident between Curtis and Jesse - she thought Susan should know since it involved a staff member and it was so public. Terese can't help but think Curtis's behaviour was a little strange, though, and Susan agrees that it was a pretty extreme reaction. Susan says she'll have a chat with Curtis to see if he can shed more light on the situation.
The Waterhole
Jesse apologises to Harlow for nearly ruining their fake dating cover before. Harlow warns him that Terese isn't stupid and that they need to be more careful from now on. Paul approaches their table and asks Harlow how she's going with the sales documents, so she tells him they're nearly done and she'll bring them to him soon. When Paul heads back to the bar, Jesse can't help but ask Harlow what Paul's interested in buying. Harlow informs him that Lassiters are buying a plot of land in Port Melbourne to build a new hotel on. Jesse can barely contain his dismay when Harlow adds that it'll be right next to a Quill Hotel and that Paul and Terese think it'll be a great opportunity to undermine the Quill's business. Excusing herself, Harlow says she needs to ask Paul a work question. In her absence, a panicked Jesse immediately whips out his phone to send and urgent text, while Harlow whispers to Paul that Jesse totally bought the lie.
Ramsay Street
Amy finds Levi sitting out the front of #30 and says she was about to call, but Levi tells her that he's already spoken to Ned. Levi says he doesn't care about her kiss with Ned, but then asks if Ned was the reason she didn't want to hook up with him again. Amy admits that she didn't want Ned to get upset, but Levi says Ned's all good, "he knows you're free to do whatever you want." Amy's surprised to hear this as she thought Ned looked wounded. Levi figures that since everyone's cool with everything, it wouldn't hurt if he and Amy hung out again. "Maybe you want to come with me to Nic and Chloe's engagement party tonight?" he asks. Amy's a little taken aback at how public that would be, but Levi assures her it wouldn't be a date. Amy smiles and says she'll think it over. Meanwhile, Sheila watches their interaction from across the street with a suspicious look on her face.
Harold's Café
Hendrix tells Mackenzie that Jane invited him to Chloe and Nicolette's engagement party, but he's not in the mood to attend. "Don't be mad, I kinda told Chloe the engagement was a bad idea," he confesses. With a fond sigh, Mackenzie wonders why Hendrix always has to stick his nose in: "Who are you, Sheila?" Hendrix says he regrets what he said, but from now on he'll follow Mackenzie's advice and stay out of it. While he's ordering coffees, Mackenzie overhears a troubling phone call Terese appears to be having with Harlow. Assuming it's about Harlow's feelings towards the Jesse and Curtis pairing, Mackenzie puts her foot in it with Terese when she finishes the call.
MACKENZIE: She's more upset than she's letting on isn't she.
TERESE: Sorry? I'm a bit lost.
MACKENZIE: What? Wasn't she just telling you about Jesse?
TERESE: No it was a work call.
MACKENZIE: Oh! Okay, never mind, disregard.
TERESE: No, no, no, what about Jesse?
MACKENZIE: I'm probably making it a bigger deal than it actually is. If Harlow says she's fine, then she's fine.
TERESE: But what's there not to be fine about?
MACKENZIE: Harlow will probably tell us if she needs us.
Mackenzie quickly scurries over to Hendrix to bury her face in his shoulder, while Terese continues to look confused with a side of apprehension.
Ramsay Street
Ned tells Roxy and Kyle they don't need to walk him home as it's literally two doors away, but Roxy thinks he needs space to vent his true feelings about the Amy situation. She adds that Levi won't risk Sheila "going off at him" by trying to date Amy, which Kyle agrees with. "She'd make his life a living hell," Kyle says. "And if Amy hadn't have even crossed Dipi, the age gap between her and Levi would set gran off too." Ned insists he doesn't want to "shoot his shot" with Amy, as Roxy so eloquently put it, but Roxy knows Ned and his cowboy hat are telling her a different story.
NED: Are you going to let me live that down?
KYLE: Yee-haw!
NED: No, don't you start. Look, even if I was still interested I am not going to cut Levi's grass.
ROXY: We just established that Levi's not trying to fertilise that grass anymore.
KYLE: Roxy's right. Mate, if you're into that grass, you should get cuttin'.
NED: Okay, can we stop referring to Amy as grass?
Roxy says there was some serious steam between Ned and Amy when she sprung them this morning. Ned finally agrees with her, so Roxy says she doesn't understand what's stopping him if it's what he really wants.
Harold's Café
Susan tells Terese that she spoke to Curtis and he's very embarrassed about what he did, but he did clarify a couple of things to her. Mainly that Jesse doesn't know Curtis's ex - he is Curtis's ex. Terese is stunned and also confused that Harlow tried to sell her a cover story just before. Plus there was also her strange chat with Mackenzie where she thought something was going on with Harlow. Susan says that it could just be that Jesse wants to keep his sexuality a secret, except now Curtis and Harlow are stuck in the middle. Terese still isn't sure what to think.
Number 30
Amy brings Toadie another one of her cocktail concoctions to try, this one labelled the "plot twist". Toadie has a sip and calls it delicious, then asks about the name. Amy tells him it's reflective of her ever-evolving love life as it turns out that Levi doesn't care about what happened with Ned. She babbles on about Levi asking her on a non-date that's totally a date, and how she's worried about hurting Ned's feelings if she accepts, plus the age gap between her and Levi. Toadie can barely get a word in edgeways.
AMY: I don't really care what other people think, but to go somewhere so public, like to stand next to him at an engagement party. Maybe I should stop and think about those implications?
TOADIE: Mmm. Sorry, can I say something?
AMY: Of course!
TOADIE: Okay, great. For something that's meant to be casual, you're putting an awful amount of thought into this. Do you want to go on a date or not?
AMY: That is a very simple way of looking at things. Yes, obvs!
Toadie says she's got her answer then, and they do a cheers to "keeping it casual".
Lassiters Office
Paul hears Terese walk in and says he should probably pick up his suit from the dry cleaners soon, not that he's particularly interested in attending the engagement party tonight. But Terese says he's got bigger problems than Nicolette right now - namely that Jesse has cheated on Harlow with Curtis. Paul barely musters up a reaction, which doesn't sit right with Terese. "I thought you'd lose your mind!" she says incredulously. Paul tries to point out that they don't know what sort of relationship Harlow and Jesse have, but Terese retorts that Harlow wouldn't sign up for an open relationship. Paul finally says to leave it with him and he'll go talk to them now, but Terese isn't satisfied. Once Paul's gone, Terese rings hotel reception and asks them what time Jesse's shift ends that afternoon.
Ramsay Street
Amy finds Levi out the front again and tells him she'll come to the party with him. Levi's stoked, but when he sees Ned approach, he says he'll leave them to chat. Ned tells Amy he wants to apologise for walking out on her before. He wasn't judging her, he was just taken off-guard: "you can do whatever you want with Levi, obviously." Amy appreciates him saying that and says they're cool. Ned's relieved as he doesn't want it changing anything between them.
AMY: What do you mean?
NED: We could still go on a date if you want?
AMY: Well yeah, I do. You should know I just literally agreed to go on a date with Levi. Casually, y'know, no strings or anything.
NED: Damn he's fast. You know what, go for it.
AMY: Really? It's not weird for you?
NED: You're a free woman, you can be with whoever you want.
AMY: Okay, great!
What's not so great is the fact that Sheila's waiting for Levi with a stern look on her face when he walks into #26's driveway. She says for the first time in her extremely long life, she hopes she's "very, very, very wrong" about something. "Are you getting it on with Amy Greenwood?" she demands to know. Levi doesn't know how to respond.
Lassiters Hotel
Terese waits for Jesse to leave the hotel after his shift ends then follows him out the door.
The Quill Hotel
Terese stalks Jesse as he walks into the Quill Hotel. She peers through the front entryway, unimpressed with what she sees.
Number 26 Backyard
Sheila grouses at Levi that Amy's old enough to be his mother. Levi doesn't care, it's not like he's about to marry Amy, he just wants to have fun. "Did it look like fun what she did to Shane and Dipi?" Sheila retorts, but Levi can't believe his gran is going to keep blaming Amy for that. Sheila growls that Levi will be blaming Amy for a whole lot more when "she chews you up and spits you out!" Kyle and Roxy appear after hearing the commotion and ask what's going on. Levi glumly tells them Sheila found out. Now Sheila's on the warpath with Kyle and Roxy for not telling her the truth sooner. Sheila yells that her opinion apparently matters "diddly squat" to all of them, then she stomps inside to have a lie down before the stress gives her another heart attack. "Well that went as well as I thought it would," Roxy quips.
Lassiters Office
Terese has Paul and Harlow sitting on the other side of the desk like they're in the principal's office. She thinks it's very odd the lengths they've both gone to, to stop her worrying about Jesse. Paul says he didn't want Terese to fret, and besides, everything is fine with Harlow and Jesse now. "Did you also not want to bother me about the fact that Jesse's connected to the Quills?" Terese retorts. Harlow and Paul side-eye one another. Terese continues, informing them she followed Jesse to a Quill Hotel and saw him having a meeting with Shay.
TERESE: My first thought was to tell you about it of course, because obviously he's the mole we've been looking for. But then I realised you already knew, didn't you?
PAUL: Yeah, yeah we did.
TERESE: Why wasn't I informed?
HARLOW: Jesse isn't just connected to the Quills. He's Julie's son.
TERESE: (getting upset) So you're telling me I welcomed the son of the woman who killed Josh into my home?
Paul nods, so Terese demands that they both start telling her the full story - now.
