Previously on Neighbours
- Jane wants Clive to stay at No.24 for a few days
- Nicolette contacts Clive's builder to speed up the work
- Clive can move back the next day but is now reluctant to leave No.24, Jane wants him to stay
- Ned and Yashvi make up
- Yashvi suggests they find a place together
- Yashvi finds Ned's sketch of Sheila 2 and asks Ned about it
Ned brushes it off as it happened a few weeks ago, Yashvi still isn't impressed. He reminds her that he paints or draws when things get too much. Yashvi isn't convinced as he still has this drawing.
YASHVI: That's not moving forward. That's just holding onto something.
Yashvi wants to know if Sheila 2 and Ned have kept in contact, they haven't. Ned promises to throw away the drawing.
YASHVI: There was so much rage and hurt in that portrait of Scarlett. All I see there is love.
NED: I love you Vi. We're going to build a life together. That's what I want.
YASHVI: I wish I could believe that.
Chloe and Nicolette aren't impressed with Clive's habits. Chloe sees the positive that they're going on a date night now that Clive is living there! They agree that Clive needs to move out asap! Jane arrives and overhears them. She points out that she thinks Clive isn't as bad as they think. Chloe feels guilty and apologises, Nicolette isn't feeling guilty. Jane admits things that it's a bit crowded. Jane wants Clive to feel comfortable where he's staying. Clive arrives and goes to order chips for them all. Chloe and Nicolette aren't so keen!
Karl asks Hendrix to give him a lift to pick up some timber, Hendrix has plans. Karl points out that Hendrix needs to get his hours. Mackenzie is more flexible and suggests they spend time together in the afternoon instead. Hendrix tries to deter her but Karl is pleased. Karl heads to bed.
Hendrix points out that he was trying to communicate to Mackenzie to rescue him! Mackenzie just laughs it off and points out that Hendrix seemed to be gaining from Karl's tips to save money. Hendrix is getting fed up of these tips all the time!
HENDRIX: There is only so much frugal fretting a man can handle.
Everyone arrives home. Clive wants to make sure Herbert is in the right place. He starts moving things so Herbert can go on the coffee table. Nicolette tells Clive he shouldn't move Chloe's stuff, Chloe is ok about it. Nicolette points out that Herbert can't talk and suggests they move home! Clive and Herbert are fine here. Jane tells Nicolette she isn't being polite to Jane's guest. They've run out of filtered water as Clive and Herbert have now got a drink!
Mackenzie and Harlow have been discussing Levi.
HARLOW: There's nothing more bonding than watching someone crying and vomiting simultaneously.
Yashvi arrives and admits things aren't great with Ned. Mackenzie invites her to open up. Yashvi tells them what's happened. Ned has sketched Sheila 2 twice and it's feeling really personal. Ned gave his reasons and promised to get rid of it. Ned told Yashvi he loves her, Harlow agrees with this.
YASHVI: How can he still love me and be holding onto her?
HARLOW: He chose you.
YASHVI: I've forgiven him so many times. I almost wish that I could turn off how much I love him.
Harlow needs to rush off suddenly and is vague about the reason. Mackenzie offers her help. Yashvi wants help learning to turn taps off!
Ned and Harlow get coffee from the Coffee Hut. Ned is doubtful over whether he and Yashvi can get through this. Harlow thinks they can get through this. Ned isn't so sure after everything that's happened. Harlow points out that Ned has supported Yashvi over Shane and Dipi leaving. Harlow wants to know why Ned has kept the portrait.
NED: It's the idea of a road not taken.
Harlow thinks the important is he loves Yashvi, Ned doesn't look so sure!
HARLOW: Do you know how lucky you are to love someone and be loved in return?
Ned realises this. Harlow reminds him that he's standing in the way of his own happiness, he can sort things out.
Nicolette wants Clive to go, Chloe is keen to keep things harmonial here at No.22. Clive arrives and recommends tai chi to them. Nicolette brings up the topic of living arrangements. Chloe isn't so keen!
NICOLETTE: You know how we sometimes suggest removing a growth even though it's benign?
Clive takes her literally so Nicolette admits Clive is the growth. Jane has arrived and isn't impressed. Clive spots Herbert and is distraught at the state of the plant. Chloe tentatively suggests that Herbert was in need of water.
Karl is reminding Hendrix as they're going along to always check his mirrors before beginning. Hendrix has got the message! Karl suggests a game, Hendrix prefers to concentrate on the road. Hendrix wants to overtake but Karl deters him. Karl is vague about the reason for going to the hardware store. Hendrix offers to floor it if Karl doesn't give him the reason. Karl admits the bed needs repairing. Hendrix doesn't look so enthralled!
Clive makes a toast to Herbert.
CLIVE: Fern but not forgotten.
Jane, Paul and David aren't as enthusiastic! David wants to know what happened. It was sudden but peaceful. Paul suggests there was more to this than it first appears. He suggests it could be Nicolette's fault, Jane brushes him off. Paul tells Clive that Nicolette and Chloe have been moaning as David tries to shush him. Clive is surprised to hear this and realises that's why Nicolette suggested that Herbert went back to his place. Jane tries to smooth things over by pointing out that Herbert had a good life. Paul continues to stir. Jane doesn't think there was anything untoward!
Outside the Waterhole
Ned is berating himself for keeping hold of the sketch, Yashvi agrees. He rues not being honest with what was happening with himself. Yashvi just wants him to be honest, they agree they need to be honest with each other. They hug, Yashvi is upset. Ned wants to know if it's time to look for a place. Yashvi ponders why things don't improve when they make up after things go awry between them. Ned promises that history won't repeat itself on this occasion.
NED: I'm tired of fighting.
YASHVI: I don't think being tired makes the problem go away.
They both realise there's more to this than just the sketch. Yashvi admits she has made mistakes, not just him.
NED: I love you.
YASHVI: I love you too. But I just don't think we can make each other happy anymore.
NED: No. (He is crying as well.)
YASHVI: I never realised that love might not just be enough.
Karl is relating stories as Hendrix pretends to listen. Karl mentions them being complacent, Hendrix denies he is! Karl tells him he was talking about the drummer in the story. Karl reminds Hendrix over what nearly happened with Hugo recently as well.
KARL: I bet you can't wait to be footloose and fancy free with your Ps.
Hendrix plans to take Mackenzie out further afield when he has his Ps. He knows Mackenzie is worth the expense and has been saving his money from various jobs he's been given. Karl is pleased. Hendrix is curious why Karl is so keen to have time together in the car. Karl enjoys spending time with Hendrix which makes Hendrix laugh! Hendrix doesn't think Pierce would say the same or help him with his driving hours. Karl is happy to do it.
KARL: You've come a long way since you moved in. Susan and I are very proud of you.
They decide to go on a scenic route which takes longer to get home.
Clive arrives and accuses Nicolette of killing Herbert! Nicolette is stunned, Clive claims to have proof as Chloe looks on. Apparently Nicolette didn't wipe the thermostat programming memory. It was steaming at 24 degrees in the house from 11 PM and 6 PM. Nicolette realises this was why she was so hot the night before. Clive claims she knew what she was doing!
NICOLETTE: These are the ramblings of a fern obsessed mad man!
CLIVE: Even your girlfriend knows the truth.
NICOLETTE: Living with you has been torturous but planticide is not my style.
Clive has been listening to Paul. Paul likens Nicolette to a vulture for taking Pierce's wife, house.
PAUL: You do seem to like other people's things.
CHLOE: You did not just refer to me as someone's thing.
Clive just wants Nicolette to admit it.
JANE: It was me. I killed Herbert. (Clive is stunned.)
CHLOE: I did not see that coming.
JANE: Having you stay in the house has been lovely but also a lot.
Jane admits she made a small change to the thermostat. She didn't realise it would have such an effect on Herbert and Herbert would be no more. Nicolette looks happy at this turn of events! Jane thought Clive would return to his own home if Herbert wasn't doing well.
CLIVE: I see I'm not welcome. I'll go and pack. (Jane looks devastated.)
PAUL: Must be strange being innocent for once.
NICOLETTE: It must feel familiar being wrong as usual.
Nicolette is amazed that Jane knew how to tweak the thermostat.
Yashvi orders a drink. She gets a text from Dipi inviting her and Ned when they want to visit. She changes her drink order to a Savloc. Jesse thinks she's getting more adventurous! David arrives and doesn't think thinks are good. Yashvi admits she and Ned ended things. David asks how she's doing. She's still coming to terms with this.
Harlow is stunned to hear this from Ned. She had advised him to sort things out and thinks he should have pushed to sort things out.
NED: We tried that for a long time.
HARLOW: Try harder.
NED: If it's a constant battle, at some point you have to let go.
Harlow points out that she and Brent communicate by letter and are committed to each other.
Herbert is on the side as Clive brings his suitcase out of the bedroom. Jane apologises for what happened.
CLIVE: For not being honest or plant slaughter?
Jane admits she's apologising for both these things. Clive thinks they didn't need to go through this. Jane has a new plant - a peace lily for him. She wants them both to look after it. This one isn't killed easily! There would be more freedom with this plant. That wasn't what Clive wanted with plants or other people. Jane wants to know what Clive needs. He tells her he needs space and time.
CLIVE: I can tell your remorse is genuine but any forgiveness I offer now wouldn't be.
Jane hopes that in the future he can forgive her. He had higher hopes of her. He heads off without the peace lily.
Nicolette tells Chloe that Jane hasn't been able to sort things out with Clive. Chloe thinks they will eventually sort things out. Chloe is feeling bad for thinking that Nicolette might have killed Herbert, she should have known better. Nicolette crows to Paul that he was wrong about this. He points out that he wasn't wrong about all of it. Nicolette just brushes it off.
Hendrix and Mackenzie arrive. They update them about Hendrix and Karl's trip. Chloe teases Hendrix about the friendship, Hendrix brushes it off.
CHLOE: Here's to life returning to normal.
HENDRIX: Hold that thought. You won't believe who's coming to town.
