Paul and Nicolette's face-off continues.
PAUL: David knows that I will always have his best interests at heart, because I'm his father.
NICOLETTE: It's gonna be my name on the baby's birth certificate, not yours. You really think he's gonna choose you over me?
PAUL: You are a lying, deceitful person. Being a mother's not gonna change that.
NICOLETTE: Yeah, well, Aaron and David believe in giving people a second chance.
PAUL: Well, they're naive. Because you will hurt them, just like you've hurt anyone else who was foolish enough to trust you.
NICOLETTE: How? What is it you think I'll do, exactly?
PAUL: Whatever you like. And that is exactly my point. Because you could trample all over David's rights as a parent, and there's not a damn thing he can do about it.
NICOLETTE: If you honestly think I'm capable of doing that, then you probably shouldn't be making me mad, should you?
At this point, David and Aaron come in. Nicolette asks how the search for Brent is going; they think he's gone into hiding. Neither are pleased to see Paul here, though he claims he came to apologise for warning Brent off.
DAVID: Whatever, Dad. I don't really care at this point.
David and Aaron walk out of the room, and Nicolette smiles tauntingly at Paul.
The Waterhole
Shane, Amy and Toadie come in, and join Yashvi and Ned who are at the bar. They are discussing a bushland outing Shane and Amy have been on, which involved him 'flying across treetops on a zip line'.
TOADIE: Thought you were afraid of heights?
AMY: Not anymore. You're an adrenaline junkie now, aren't you, babe?
Yashvi glances at Ned, unimpressed with Amy.
AMY: At first, I thought he would chicken out.
SHANE: Yeah, but then I thought to myself, 'Just get on with it, you silly wombat.'
Amy shows Toadie a video of it, in which Shane's screams are very audible!
YASHVI: What were you thinking? You just got off crutches and you look terrified.
SHANE: Oh, you know, sometimes it's good to be pushed to do things outside your comfort zone (...)
YASHVI: Well, making someone feel uncomfortable isn't really my idea of a good date.
SHANE (to Amy): I conquered my fear, and that's all thanks to you.
AMY: So, what next, babe? Skydiving?
YASHVI: Maybe something with your feet on the ground? Cos you're not getting any younger, 'babe'.
There's an awkward silence as Amy processes Yashvi's obvious disdain for her. In an attempt to move the conversation on...
NED: I've always wanted to swim with dolphins.
More awkward silence.

Terese is fiddling with her phone on the couch when Paul comes in. She reports a 'mostly positive response' to her Australia Day speech - and a few negative ones, but 'you can't please everyone'.
TERESE: Oh, and the plans for the new beach bar at the lake have been approved, so we can start construction. Oh, and I've come up with a catchy, catchy name - the Flamingo Bar!
Paul says it's good, but is clearly distracted, and admits he's just been to see Nicolette - claiming that she threatened him and the boys. Terese says Paul won't help the situation by provoking her.
PAUL: I'm trying to protect my son here.
TERESE: What happened to backing off, like you did after New York? Play smart, don't engage. Just focus on supporting the boys and forget about her.
Paul nods, clearly unconvinced.

In the garden, David tells Aaron that Nicolette's calling round the hospitals to see if Brent has landed up in any of them. Aaron says he's sent Brent's photos to all the local shelters, and David suggests they send them to food kitchens for the homeless, too. At this point, Nicolette emerges with a visitor who's just arrived.
EMMETT: Hey, guys!
DAVID: Emmett!
Aaron and David are both pleased to see him.
The Waterhole
Amy is hanging out while Shane works, looking glum. She admits that she's worried because it seems Yashvi doesn't like her, in addition to Jay and Mackenzie not exactly being fans of hers, either. Shane reminds her that Jay's back in Sydney, and says Mackenzie won't cause any more trouble.
AMY: But let's face it - I mean, your children are not gonna accept me. Especially Vee. I mean, it doesn't help that I had a catfight with her mum on the pub floor.
SHANE: Yashvi needs a bit of time to get used to seeing us together, that's all.
AMY: Yeah, I know. And I know that you were married to Dipi for a really long time. I don't expect her to, like, welcome me with open arms or anything. It's just... I wish that she'd get to know me a little bit better.
Yashvi and Ned are still at the other end of the bar, and while Amy's in the bathroom, Yashvi comes to pay the bill, while Ned heads to the door. Shane asks Yashvi if she could do him a favour, and get to know Amy a bit better.
SHANE: Maybe you could spend some time with her today?
YASHVI: I would, but... Ned has some stuff to do at the Hive (...) Just art stuff, boring. But I said I'd pitch in.
SHANE: Is that gonna take a whole day?
YASHVI: Yep. Maybe another time.
Yashvi joins Ned at the door, and they leave.

Emmett tells David and Aaron that he's here to help look for Brent.
DAVID: So you said Brent's been living with mates?
EMMETT: For the last few weeks. But he got kicked out of there, too.
AARON: What do you mean, 'there, too'?
EMMETT: Well, he was staying with us at Auntie Linda's before then, but it didn't work out.
DAVID: I didn't know that that was allowed. Did the agency approve it?
EMMETT: We didn't tell them. I mean, you know what Mum's like. She talked my auntie into it. But it didn't really work, the four of us living there.
AARON: Hold on. So Mum was staying there, too?
EMMETT: For a while, yeah. She wanted us to be a family. But then she disappeared - said she needed to sort her life out. But, umm...
AARON: Yeah, she's said that before.
EMMETT: Yeah. And Brent and Auntie Linda were always fighting, so he left.
DAVID: I'm sorry, mate. You've been put through the wringer.
EMMETT: I'm okay. I'm just worried about Brent.
Nicolette has come in, overhearing some of this. David goes to call Emmett's aunt and tell her he's here. Emmett asks Nicolette if she lives here now; she confirms she and her mum Jane are both living here. Nic says she's been calling hospitals to see if she can find Brent. This worries Emmett, who asks if he was hurt. Aaron says not seriously, but he did have some bruises.
EMMETT: We have to find him.
AARON: Yeah, we will, mate.
Shortly afterwards, David returns from talking to Emmett's auntie on the phone, and tells Aaron that she seemed 'a bit put out' when he told her Emmett was here.
AARON: Wow. I mean, you'd think she'd be a little bit relieved knowing that he's okay.
DAVID: Yeah, it was a bit of an odd reaction.
Paul and Terese come in, saying they're here to help look for Brent.
PAUL: Yeah, look, I realise that an apology wasn't really enough. I needed to do something constructive to rectify the situation, so...
AARON: Alright. (mutters to David) Must be feeling guilty.
DAVID (muttering): Either that, or he's had an epiphany.
Emmett then comes in, and Paul and Terese both seem happy to see him. Paul suggests Emmett join them on the search for Brent; David reluctantly agrees, visibly annoyed that Paul is suddenly taking over. Paul decides they should check the Hive again, despite David and Aaron having already checked there earlier, and they all head out. Paul and Terese are the last to leave.
TERESE: See? Being supportive isn't that hard when you put your mind to it.
PAUL: You know, if it was up to me, Brent would never be found. But if this is what it takes to get me back in the good books, so be it.
The Waterhole
Shane is chatting to Toadie about the tension between Yashvi and Amy. Toadie says Yashvi will adjust in time, but Shane complains that Amy is feeling excluded in the meantime.
TOADIE: Okay, the kids are always gonna favour their mum. You've got to expect that.
SHANE: Yashvi's not a child. At some point, she's gonna have to accept the fact that I'm in a new relationship.
Toadie looks a little exasperated by Shane's stance.
SHANE: What?
TOADIE: Nothing. Wasn't gonna say anything.
SHANE: Really looked like you were gonna say something.
TOADIE: Nope.
Ned comes in for a coffee, and Shane, believing Yashvi was supposed to be helping him at the Hive today, asks if she wants anything too. But Ned, not having been party to the earlier conversation, says Yashvi's gone to The Shed for a workout, thereby exposing her lie. Ned realises from Shane's reaction that he's put his foot in it.
SHANE: Yashvi used you as an excuse not to spend any time with Amy.
Ned apologises, saying it might've just been 'crossed wires'.
SHANE: Yeah, don't try and defend her. She knew what she was doing. Is this the way it's gonna be from now on?
Harold's Café
Paul, Terese and Emmett come in, having failed to find Brent at the Hive. Emmett's keen to continue the search straight away, but Paul says they can't keep going on an empty stomach - so suggests a milkshake break first. Terese suggests Paul and Emmett check the greenway and the pavilion once she's headed back to work. Nicolette is in the kitchen, watching with suspicion.
While Terese orders, Paul asks Emmett whether he's still drawing. 'Not really,' he replies.
EMMETT: Auntie Linda says my art stuff makes too much of a mess.
PAUL: Ah.
EMMETT: So how are Az and Dave?
PAUL: Yeah, they're good - they're good. They've missed you.
EMMETT: Have they?
PAUL: Yeah, we all have. Actually liked having you around.
Terese rejoins them, and Emmett asks why Nicolette and Jane have moved into No 32, and for how long.
PAUL: Too long.
TERESE: Well, Nicolette's having David and Aaron's baby. David's the biological father.
EMMETT: That's really cool. They always wanted a baby.
Emmett seems genuinely pleased for David and Aaron, but also perhaps a little disappointed...
Lassiter's Complex
Ned catches up with Yashvi, and tells her about how he put his foot in it with Shane earlier. She apologises for not telling Ned to cover for her.
YASHVI: Well, I guess he's mad at me now.
NED: Mm, I think he's actually more hurt.
YASHVI: Well, I didn't know how to tell him I didn't want to hang out with Amy. I don't like the way she acts - all the cutesy stuff with Dad. And she had a full fight with Mum.
NED: I know. But Dipi is trying to accept that your dad's in a new relationship, so... shouldn't you?
YASHVI (smiling): Maybe I'm just not mature enough.
NED: Maybe not. But I know how much you care about your dad, alright? You don't want him feeling bad about this.
YASHVI: She isn't right for him.
NED: You know, when my dad started seeing Terese, a whole bunch of people sided with Mum, right, and it split our family right down the middle. It got out of control. When that happens, nobody wins.
YASHVI: Yeah, but Terese and your dad broke up, so maybe that means they were never supposed to be together.
NED: They made it work for a while, alright? They had three kids together! So what if Amy sticks around? Wouldn't it be better for you and your dad's relationship if you give her a chance?
Yashvi rolls her eyes, as if she's grudgingly coming round to the idea.
Harold's Café
David and Aaron find Paul with Emmett; Paul says they were about to go and start hunting for Brent again. Nicolette overhears that Paul is now helping with the search, and comes to join the conversation.
NICOLETTE: Surely you've got the resources to do more than just hit the pavement? Can't you contact a private investigator or something?
Paul looks over his shoulder furiously at Nicolette.
DAVID: Of course, you could call the Wongs.
NICOLETTE: Yeah, I'm sure they'd be able to find a missing kid.
PAUL: They're not that easy to get hold of, you know. They could be in the middle of a case or something.
DAVID: Dad, now is the time you make up for the... thing you did.
EMMETT: Uh, what's he mean?
PAUL: Oh, nothing, mate. Just something between David and I.
NICOLETTE: Why don't you just give them a call?
AARON: You know, it'd be great if you could do it right now. We don't want him sleeping rough again.
DAVID: Tell them you'll make it worth their while to drop whatever it is they're doing.
EMMETT: Please?
PAUL: Yeah, of course, mate.
Paul grudgingly gets his phone out and goes to call the Wongs. He gives Nicolette another look, and she flashes him another taunting smile.
Lassiter's Complex
Outside the pub, Amy is talking to Shane about what they could do on their next outing together. Yashvi turns up.
YASHVI (awkward): Uh, turns out Ned can manage without me, so I'm free. (To Amy) So I was wondering if you wanted to spend the afternoon together?
AMY: Yeah, I'd love that! We should go to the day spa and get a pamper package.
YASHVI (forced enthusiasm): Yeah, sounds great.
Shane leaves them to it.
AMY: You know, we should book if we want a microdermabrasion session.
YASHVI: That sounds nasty.
AMY: Have you had one?
YASHVI: I've never heard of it. Does it involve pain?
AMY: No, of course not. It's just a technique to improve your skin. Not that your skin needs improving; it's amazing.
YASHVI: Well, I'm game to give it a go.
Yashvi looks less than enthusiastic as she follows Amy, but Shane, who is watching, smiles to see her making the effort.
Harold's Café
Paul is now alone and on the phone to the private investigator John Wong, giving him the details about Brent. He says he'll ask David to send through a photograph, then ends the call. Nicolette approaches.
PAUL: I suppose you're feeling pretty happy with yourself, dropping me in it like that and then just walking away?
NICOLETTE: I don't know what you're ranting about.
PAUL: Oh, come off it. You were obviously trying to put me on the spot to make me look bad in front of David and Aaron then.
NICOLETTE: Brent wouldn't be on the run if it wasn't for you. Calling a PI is the least you can do.
PAUL: Yeah, well, you know, your vindictive little stunt to embarrass me is about to backfire. Because if John does find Brent, the boys are gonna be extremely grateful. To me.
NICOLETTE: If that's how you want to see it, Paul, then that's fine. But finding Brent actually isn't about you. It's about making sure the kid is safe.
PAUL: Ah, yeah, butter wouldn't melt, would it?
NICOLETTE: Can we just call a truce on this feud thing for now? You trying to up one on me, and me, you? When really, we need to be focusing all of our energy into helping David and Aaron find the kid before something terrible happens to him.
PAUL: You're on the level?
NICOLETTE: Completely.
PAUL: Alright, fine. Truce.
Nicolette nods and walks away. Paul looks a bit puzzled.
The Waterhole
Shane is working while Toadie hangs out with him at the bar. Amy and Yashvi are at a table by the door, and Shane is watching them carefully to make sure they're getting on okay. Toadie doesn't think he should go over and join them, saying they made it out of the spa in one piece, so it couldn't have been too bad.
TOADIE: You seem really invested in this thing with Amy working out.
SHANE: Early days, but yeah.
TOADIE: Mm. You heard from Dipi?
SHANE: Uh, no, no. Not yet. I left a message to see how Jay's going.
Meanwhile, at the table...
YASHVI: I don't mean to alarm you, but I think you've had a reaction to the facial. Your upper lip is still quite red!
AMY (gasps): Still? The beauty therapist talked me into waxing it. I didn't even know that it was hairy! I mean, apparently I have been walking around my whole life with no idea that I am a yeti!
Amy suggests they could do something different if Yashvi does want to hang out again, they could go and see an AFLW match. Yashvi is surprised and interested to hear that Amy is a fan; Amy explains that she often takes her kids to see matches. Yashvi confirms she's a big fan too.
AMY: Well, that's it. When the season starts, we're going.
YASHVI: You're on!
AMY: Cool.
No 22
Terese arrives home to find Paul, David, Aaron and Emmett on the sofas, looking exhausted after their search for Brent. She suggests they all stay for takeaway pizza, and Aaron and David agree. Paul says that now John Wong has Brent's photo, they'll have to see what tomorrow brings.
EMMETT: I just hate that he's out there at night, alone.
PAUL: It's alright, mate, he's smart. And he's certainly capable of looking after himself. Anyway, who knows? He may have found a shelter for the night, anyway.
Emmett asks if he can stay at David and Aaron's tonight, so that he can rejoin their search tomorrow. David says he wishes it were possible, but that it's not, as Jane and Nicolette haven't been cleared by the agency. Aaron adds that his auntie will be expecting him home.
EMMETT: Yeah, but I... want to stay with you guys. I need to be close in case Brent comes back.
Paul promises that they'll come and get Emmett in the unlikely event that Brent does turn up tonight. Emmett doesn't respond, and Paul looks mildly concerned.
The Waterhole
Toadie and Shane are still keeping an eye on Amy and Yashvi; Toadie remarks that they've barely stopped talking the whole time.
SHANE: What do you think they're talking about now?
TOADIE: You, probably.
At the table...
YASHVI: He's still looking over here.
AMY: Okay, on the count of three, let's laugh. He'll think that I've told you a joke about him.
Sure enough, Shane looks mildly worried as they start laughing. Ned comes in to meet Yashvi, and Amy joins Shane and Toadie at the bar.
SHANE: So, how was that?
AMY: Look, we got off to a bit of a shaky start, but it turns out we've got a lot in common.
SHANE (relieved): Oh, I knew you would!
Back at the table, Yashvi tells Ned they need to leave.
NED: What's wrong? You were having a great time a minute ago.
YASHVI (worried): I think I like Amy.
NED (hushed): What's wrong with that?
YASHVI: Well, because I feel like I'm betraying Mum.
Yashvi walks out, and Ned follows.
No 22
Terese, Paul, David, Aaron and Emmett are finishing dinner. Terese heads to bed, and David says it's time to take Emmett home.
EMMETT (worried): I want to help with the dishes.
PAUL: That's what the dishwasher's for.
EMMETT: Okay, well, I need to go to the bathroom.
Sensing Emmett really doesn't want to go home, Paul suggests David and Aaron go and get the car, and he'll send Emmett out to meet them in a minute. Once David and Aaron have left...
PAUL: Alright, let's talk properly. What's going on? Why don't you want to go back to your aunt's place?
EMMETT: ...
PAUL: It's alright, Emmett. You won't get into trouble or anything if you tell me. I just want to help.
EMMETT: ... I don't want to go home because... things are really bad with Auntie Linda.
PAUL: What do you mean by bad? Hey, hey, come on, I can see that you're upset. Does your aunt hurt you?
EMMETT: No, it's... it's not that. I dunno, I... I feel like I'm always in the way. She just doesn't want me there. No-one wants me.
