Dipi apologises for walking in on Shane and Amy, before rushing out of The Hive. Shane calls after her but she doesn't stop. Amy asks if he's ok and says he should go after her. He apologises and leaves, leaving Amy a bit flustered.
Toadie asks Yashvi why she's in such a good mood and she admits that she's hopeful her parents might get back together. She says things went well at Christmas but he tells her not to get her hopes up.
YASHVI: Don't worry, I'm a big girl. But...I'm feeling pretty disappointment- proof.
Levi unveils Bea's billy cart.
KYLE: Dude, that's just plain sad.
LEVI: (defensive) I told you it's not finished yet.
Kyle goes to take a phone call as Bea and Roxy look at the billy cart. Levi says he thinks he'll be able to finish it within the next day and he refuses Bea's offer of help. Levi leaves to go to the hardware store and Kyle returns with exciting news.
KYLE: I just found out that dad's dish is gonna be judged in Erinsborough's Best Dish comp!
ROXY: That's great! When?
KYLE: This afternoon.
Roxy looks shocked, pointing out that he's not made the dish before, but he's confident he can wing it. He asks if she's happy to help out.
ROXY: Yes, of course! I was born to be your saucy kitchen assistant.
They leave as Bea still looks at the billy cart.
Shane arrives to see Dipi. She apologises for walking in on him and Amy, while he apologises that she had to see them together.
SHANE: Us seeing other people is gonna be a bit weird. I mean I saw you on your Tinder date.
DIPI: What are you talking about?
Dipi realises who Shane is talking about and tells him that the guy he saw her with was just from the council. She was trying to make a good impression for the Best Dish of Erinsborough competition. Shane is surprised when Dipi tells him that she's nowhere near ready to put herself back out there again. She asks if he feels the same.
DIPI: How serious is this thing with you and Amy?
Amy shares her excitement about the uniform prototype with Paul and Terese.
PAUL: With your track record I wouldn't be popping corks just yet.
AMY: Fine then.
PAUL: (dismissive) You can go now.
As Amy leaves, Paul notices Kyle and Roxy taking cooking utensils from the bar and asks who gave them the authority to do that.
PAUL: Oh, planning on doing a bit of baking in hospital, is she?
KYLE: I'm entering Erinsborough's Best Dish comp...dad's sausages.
TERESE: Oh, what the one with the parsnip puree and the mushroom sauce? (smiles)...that was my favourite.
Paul doesn't look impressed, telling Kyle that Sheila had no right letting them take the cooking utensils.
PAUL: Both The Waterhole and The Terrace have dishes entered into this competition and we plan on winning. This is a serious prize you know.
Kyle says it means a lot to The 82 as well but Paul replies that he doesn't see why they're bothering as the only reason the tram prospered in the first place was because of Gary.
KYLE: Did you just say my dad was talented?
KYLE: (mocking) That is so nice of you!
Kyle continues trying to convince Paul to let him take the utensils and he eventually relents when Kyle admits he's not cooked the recipe before. Paul mocks Kyle, thinking he needs all the help he can get in the competition.
Dipi tells Shane she was surprised to catch him with Amy, because he said after their kiss that it was a mistake. He admits that he doesn't know what's going to happen with Amy but they get on well and he does like her. However, he doesn't want to make things difficult for Dipi. She gives him her blessing, saying that she's put him through hell and he deserves some happiness. He appreciates her support, calling her a class act.
DIPI: Just stop fooling around in public places, ok? (laughs)
SHANE: Yeah, that was pretty dumb.
As she walks away, Dipi looks upset, while Shane looks conflicted.
Lassiters Hotel (exterior)
Amy receives a call from Shane who tells her that Dipi's ok with them seeing each other. They make plans to see each other soon and she looks happy. Meanwhile, Kyle and Roxy walk through the complex and he's panicking that there's over twenty ingredients for Gary's recipe.
KYLE: Maybe I'm taking on too much.
AMY: There's nothing wrong with going for it. Taking chances is how the magic happens! That's why you guys should join me on stage, all in the name of charity.
KYLE: What are you on about?
AMY: We're doing a lip sync fundraiser for Sonya's Foundation. Let's have a coffee, I can give you all the details.
Roxy agrees but Kyle says they don't have time, continuing to panic over the recipe. Roxy tells him not to worry; she'll go and get all the ingredients while he prepares everything at The 82.
Levi goes into the garden looking at instructions for building the rest of the billy cart, but it appears to be finished. He calls Kyle who says he wasn't involved in finishing it but Levi doesn't seem to believe him. Kyle points out that he's got the competition on his mind and tells Levi he has to go. Levi looks frustrated.
Shane's just told Toadie what happened with Amy and Dipi. Toad seems surprised that Dipi's ok with it, wondering if she really meant it. Shane says his relationship with Dipi is in a good place right now and they're focusing on their friendship going forward.
TOADIE: And is that all you want?
SHANE: Hanging out with Amy has been an eye- opener. We don't have a history, I haven't let her down, she doesn't resent me. And it's crazy how good it feels being with someone who thinks I'm alright.
TOADIE: Well give her time mate (laughs). I'm happy for you...
Shane says he's really pleased to have Dipi's support, but Toadie points out that the next step will be getting the kids on side. Shane thinks that should be ok, saying they just want them to be happy and for the first time in a long time, he is.
Bea arrives to see Levi and she seems pretty sprightly.
BEA: You smashed that out pretty quick!
LEVI: With a bit of a miracle.
BEA: You're more of a handyman than you thought.
LEVI: Or maybe I had a little helper.
BEA: Like who? (silence)...ok, it was me.
LEVI: No kidding...
Levi pretends to be happy that it's finished but he rejects Bea's offer to go and test out the newly built cart. She asks if he's angry but he insists he isn't, saying he just spent a long time looking at the instructions and hoped to finish it himself.
LEVI: But it's done now and it looks great.
Bea can tell he's hurt.
Yashvi arrives to see her mum, excited to hear how things went with Shane. Dipi is solemn and Vi asks what happened. She tells her she found Shane and Amy together. Vi says that Shane wouldn't be interested in Amy if he knew how Dipi felt, but Dipi says that's not the case; he admitted to her that he does have feelings for Amy and she's given him her blessing to see her. Vi can't understand why Dipi won't just be honest with him and go after what she wants. Dipi thinks she owes this to Shane; he gave her space when she asked for it, and now she's stepping aside for his happiness.
DIPI: Maybe I don't deserve a happy- ever- after, maybe this is my karma.
YASHVI: That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Amy walks in.
YASHVI: Well you didn't waste any time sinking in your fake nails, did you?
Yashvi leaves as Dipi tells her it's not Amy's fault. Dipi says Vi is just being protective and Amy can relate, saying her children are the same.
DIPI: She'll come around. You and Shane dating is a good thing.
They both smile and Amy grabs a menu.
Kyle is getting everything ready as he receives a phone call, mistakenly assuming it's Roxy.
KYLE: Babe, where are you?
PAUL: Aw Kyle, you've never called me that before.
KYLE: Paul, what do you want?
PAUL: Oh just checking in, to see how your 'piece de resistance' is going?
Kyle calls him a tool and Paul continues trying to wind him up. Kyle remains confident that he has a good chance of winning the comp, saying he's a Canning, so he doesn't need any formal training. He's not all too thrilled when Paul says he might drop by to watch the judging and before long he hangs up angrily. Back at Lassiters, Terese asks what Paul's up to and he says he's just making sure Lassiters is in the best possible position to win; antagonising Kyle is just a bonus.
Roxy eventually returns with the ingredients, apologising for taking so long, saying that finding some of the organic items took a bit longer than expected. She's surprised he doesn't seem more stressed.
KYLE: To be honest I was. But Paul made me remember something.
ROXY: Oh yeah, what's that?
KYLE: I'm a Canning. And Cannings are made of tough stuff. We don't give up and we don't get intimidated. Babe we're gonna win this thing. And we're gonna make dad proud, I know it.
Bea's just told Yashvi about the situation with the billy cart, saying Levi was clearly hurt that she finished it, but wouldn't admit it. Vi replies that she can't understand why he didn't just say.
BEA: I guess he just didn't want me to feel bad. And I'm sure your mum has reasons for keeping quiet too.
YASHVI: Yeah, she's punishing herself. Karma knocked on her door so she let it in.
BEA: Yeah, that's depressing.
Vi is confident that her parents would be back together if Dipi was just open with her feelings, but Bea says she can't know that for certain. Yashvi doesn't know whether to tell Shane herself how Dipi feels, but Bea says it's probably not a good idea to get involved.
YASHVI: They were so close. Kirsha thought so too and I was just stupid enough to get my hopes up.
Levi drops off an herb grinder for Kyle and they laugh that they didn't even know it was a thing. As he leaves, Kyle asks him if he found out who finished the cart and he looks embarrassed, saying he'll tell him later. Bea arrives, saying she's been looking for Levi everywhere. She apologises to him again for finishing the cart and he says that she doesn't need to again, he's fine with it.
LEVI: I just wanted to show you that I wasn't completely useless in the handyman department. But on the bright side, it's done now, and we can have fun with it.
BEA: Or...I can dismantle it, and you and I can enjoy rebuilding it together (smiles)
After some convincing he agrees, saying she'll have to take things a bit slow. She jokingly asks whether he's referring to taking it apart or putting it back together.
She agrees and they both laugh as they walk home holding hands.
Lassiters Hotel (exterior)
Amy arrives to see Shane outside the hotel. she tells him that she's seen Dipi and Yashvi and that it went better than expected; Dipi's fine, but Yashvi did go 'bad cop' on her. Shane admits that he didn't think Dipi would be more supportive than Yashvi.
SHANE: She just seemed more confused than anything. I mean, I told her we weren't together which we weren't.
AMY: (dismissive) Oh, aren't we?
SHANE: Aren't we?
AMY: I don't know, are we? (smiles)
SHANE: Are we?
They both laugh and say that maybe they actually are together.
AMY: Shall we go on a proper date? Maybe make it a little less...public, afterwards?
SHANE: Now she wants to play it safe...
AMY: Doing a show for your family's not really on my bucket list, Shane...
SHANE: Bit late for that, you've already ticked it off...
They both laugh, as Dipi watches from afar. She looks hurt.
Kyle furiously searches for something at the tram and Roxy asks what he's doing; he tells her he's looking for that 'fancy masher thing for parsley', admitting he might have left it at home. Roxy offers to start on the mushroom sauce while he goes to look for it.
Yashvi's taken Clancy for a walk. She notices Clancy rummaging round in the bushes.
YASHVI: Clancy, what are you doing?
Back at the tram, Roxy realises she forgot to get mushrooms. She goes to tell Kyle but he's already long gone. Outside, the notices some wild mushrooms and goes to pick them to use in the sauce.
Yashvi finds Clancy rummaging round near some wild mushrooms which look similar to the ones Roxy just picked.
YASHVI: You didn't eat those, did you? No no no, you wouldn't because you know they'd make you sick, you're a good boy. Ok, come on, come on...
Roxy walks back into the tram looking happy with herself. She places the mushrooms ready for chopping.
ROXY: Wild mushrooms are so much better than store- bought mushrooms...God, I am good!
