The Cannings and Roxy are holding council on the patio. Roxy says she's planning to call Bea tomorrow, to make sure her mum Liz isn't driving her crazy. But Levi reports that Bea has told him she and Liz are getting on well.
KYLE: You spoke actual words to Bea?
LEVI: We are mates.
Sheila looks pleased and demands to know what Bea was saying. Levi says not much, other than that she's working on a new song. Roxy asks if she mentioned Nathan. Levi looks concerned, and says he doesn't think so.
SHEILA: That's great news, cos if she's cut him off at the socks, that leaves the way clear for you to step in.
LEVI: You know I'm not gonna step in, Gran.
Levi says Bea is thinking about giving Nathan another chance, and that's probably why she went to Sydney. But Sheila still thinks Levi should 'put himself out there' with Bea when she returns. Levi again insists he won't do this; he really thinks Bea is still hung up on Nathan.

Aaron comes into the living room, apparently having just helped David produce a sperm sample! David follows him in, and says he's left the sample on the vanity unit. Nicolette prepares to go and 'get jiggy' with it, answering an awkward query about whether she needs assistance by assuring David...
NICOLETTE: I'm sure I can figure it out.
She tells the boys to go to bed; she can take it from here, and will report back to them in the morning. They wish her luck, and she heads off to begin the process...

Roxy is watching TV on the sofa, when Sheila comes in to join her, telling her they need to 'do something about Levi', given he's 'letting Bea slip through his fingers'.
SHEILA: Levi needs to make a grand gesture, and get it all organised while she's away, and ready for her when she comes home. That's where you come in.
ROXY: (...) Levi did say that she's writing songs, and I know she's been missing her gigs at The Waterhole. What if we get her gigs back?
Sheila reminds us that Bea is barred from doing gigs at the pub since she assaulted a punter who was taunting her about Finn. Roxy thinks they should try to convince Terese to let Bea resume the gigs.
ROXY: If Bea comes home, and she has the job she loves, and we tell her that it was Levi's idea...
SHEILA: She'll be all over him like a cheap suit!
They almost high-five, but Sheila misses.
SHEILA: I will learn how to do it.

The next day, Roxy and Sheila arrive to talk to Terese about Bea getting her gigs back at The Waterhole, due to ostensible popular demand. Terese points out that they do have other music gigs at the pub.
SHEILA: Oh, you mean that second-rate cover band that you hired? They're awful - you may as well have hired Karl Kennedy.
ROXY: Don't joke about that.
Roxy and Sheila continue to pester Terese into letting Bea sing again.

David and Aaron are anxious to know how Nicolette's insemination went, but she's still asleep. David is particularly nervous, worrying that they left her to do it by herself.
AARON: Hey, Boo, relax. We're gonna be dads.
At this point, Nicolette appears, and confirms that the insemination went to plan.
NICOLETTE: And then I lay with my legs up the wall for an hour, to make sure that gravity was doing its thing.
David is keen for them all to keep it to themselves until they know whether it's worked, Nicolette seems keen to tell Chloe, but David insists on secrecy.
Jane comes in, and offers to make breakfast for everyone; David and Aaron decline, as they are heading over to Paul and Terese's for breakfast. Jane senses an atmosphere.
JANE: Did I walk in on the middle of something?
NICOLETTE: No! Breakfast sounds great - thanks, Mum.
Silence descends, and Jane again asks if there's something she should know about. But they all assure her there's nothing going on.
No 22
David and Aaron are having coffee with Paul and Terese. They explain Jane is settling in well at No 32, and finding better deals on all their utility providers. Paul casually remarks that if it's all getting too crowded, he's heard there are some good deals on flights to Canada.
DAVID: Wow, Dad. Very subtle.
PAUL: Holiday with a touch of surrogacy. What's not to like?
TERESE: Just drink your coffee, Paul.
Ignoring this, Paul tries to offer David and Aaron money to help with the air fares, but they insist it's not about the money.
PAUL: So, you've settled on Nicolette, then, yeah?
AARON: Oh, look, we haven't made up our minds yet.
DAVID: So, why don't we change the subject?
But when Terese asks what they got up to last night, David and Aaron are forced back into awkward territory. They each come up with different stories simultaneously, leading Paul to look suspicious...

In the garden, Levi is just about to make a phone call to Nathan, when Kyle turns up and asks why.
LEVI: I reckon there's still some unresolved issues between us.
KYLE: Bea.
LEVI: You guys all think I'm an idiot, or crazy.
KYLE: No, no, no. Not crazy. But you want to be with her, cous. It's okay to admit it.
LEVI: Yeah, but it doesn't matter what I want. Look, if Bea and Nathan end up together, and are good for each other, then I'll be happy. Honest.
KYLE: Cous, if they belong together, then they'll figure it out. You don't need to give them a helping hand.
LEVI: But the only reason Bea's distancing herself from Nathan is because of me.
KYLE: Well, that doesn't mean it's your job to change her mind. Cous, I say this cos I love you, but you're an idiot.
Kyle walks off.

Jane remarks how happy Nicolette seems this morning, as she serves up breakfast. Jane wonders if it's because the boys have made a decision about the co-parenting, but Nicolette dodges the question, and looks at her plate, realising there's smoked salmon on it.
JANE: What's wrong?
NICOLETTE: I just don't think I can stomach a fishy breakfast this morning. I'm sorry.
JANE: Well, smoked salmon's one of your favourites!
NICOLETTE: I know. But I'll eat the frittata!
Jane offers Nicolette a coffee, and Nic says yes - but then, again, realises what she's saying, and asks for a herbal tea instead.
JANE: Not eating smoked salmon... and not drinking coffee. Is there something you'd like to tell me?
NICOLETTE: ... I inseminated myself with David's sperm last night.
JANE: You what?! Does he know?
NICOLETTE: Of course he knows! How else do you think I got it?
JANE: Oh, Nicolette! How could you do such a thing?
NICOLETTE: It felt like fate. I was ovulating, the timing was perfect, so we just went for it.
JANE: There is nothing perfect about your timing.
NICOLETTE: I thought you'd be happy. Especially considering you said you were going to be supportive.
JANE (reluctant): I trust that the three of you are making the right decision.
NICOLETTE: Thank you. Oh, and I'm not supposed to have told you. So don't talk about this to anyone.
Lassiter's Complex
Outside the pub, Kyle arrives as Roxy and Sheila are setting up for another gig of the 'second-rate cover band'. However, Sheila has good news; Terese has got back to her and let her know that Bea can have her regular gigs back as soon as she comes back from Sydney.
Kyle soon realises that Roxy and Sheila have orchestrated all this as part of a grand plan to make Bea think Levi is responsible for getting her gigs back, and to get them together. Sheila declares that she won't be happy until Levi and Bea are 'like two little love bugs in a rug'.
As Sheila leaves, Kyle tells Roxy that whatever they're up to is not a good idea.
ROXY: I was under the impression that we were all for 'Bevi'.
KYLE: I am! But you've got Gran playing matchmaker. She will go full Sheila Canning again.
Kyle explains how Levi is getting chummy with Nathan, and pushing him towards Bea.
KYLE: I tried to talk him out of it. Don't tell Gran.
ROXY: Obviously. She'd go nuts.
KYLE: Things have gotten way out of hand, babe. We need to stay out of this.

Aaron and David are at the table after breakfast, when Aaron gets a message from Nicolette, saying she told Jane about them trying for a baby because she'd already guessed. David is annoyed, saying he thinks she should've consulted them first.
DAVID (whispering): Now we have to tell Dad and Terese!
AARON: Why?
DAVID: Before somebody else does!
Meanwhile, Paul and Terese are in the living room. Paul is whispering to Terese that he's sure there is something up with David.
TERESE: Well, maybe you're making him nervous.
PAUL: They're whispering.
TERESE: So are we!
PAUL: Yes, but this is different. They're being cagey. I'm gonna find out why.
Paul storms in and demands to know why David and Aaron are whispering. David and Aaron reluctantly reveals their decision to try for a baby with Nicolette last night.
DAVID: And if it's been successful, she might already be pregnant.
PAUL: Why would you do something so stupid and preposterous? Were you drunk?!
DAVID: No!
AARON: Look, we know this is a shock, alright?
PAUL: A shock?! Aaron, this is a catastrophe!
TERESE: Calm down, Paul!
AARON: Look, we decided that this was the best way to do it, alright? All parents are involved.
PAUL: Yeah, all three parents, when there should only be two!
AARON: Look, David and I have discussed it, and Nic is our best option.
But Paul is not impressed.
PAUL: I warned you both about the legal ramifications you're opening up by doing this. Now you risk having a child without having any control over its future.
DAVID: I can't do this right now.
David walks out angrily, and Aaron follows him.
Lassiter's Lake
Nathan and Levi are out for a walk. Nathan explain how, after Sheila ripped into his parents for his involvement in Levi's beating, they made sure he never hung out with Jonno, one of the other boys in the gang, again.
NATHAN: I read your letter. Man, I really screwed up your life, hey?
LEVI: I'm managing, man. Especially since I decided to be a cop.
NATHAN: After reading everything you went through, I'm surprised you're giving me the time of day. I don't deserve it, but I appreciate it.
LEVI: Hey, look, man - there's another reason I asked you to meet up. It's about Bea. I think you should try again with her, man.
NATHAN: Why would you say that, if you're into her?
LEVI: But she likes you. Look, it might've been early days, but she thought that you guys had something special. And I know you felt the same way. If it wasn't for me, and what happened when we were kids, she wouldn't even be hesitating.
NATHAN: That's her decision, and I respect it.
Levi decides they should take a photo together, and then Nathan can send it to Bea to show her that things are good between them now. Nathan agrees, but says if Bea's still not interested, then he's not going to keep bothering her.
They pose for a selfie, and as Nathan scrolls through the options on his phone to send, Levi notices that there's a photo of Bea in his gallery. Nathan admits she sent it to him before things got messy.
LEVI: You guys would make a great couple.
Levi does his best not to look disappointed.

Aaron, David and Nicolette are talking at the table. David tells Nic he wishes she'd discussed it before telling Jane about their trying for a baby. Nic says Jane had figured it out and so she couldn't lie. But David feels they were forced into telling Paul and Terese as a result, before they were ready.
AARON: We're never gonna hear the end of this, are we?
DAVID: Well, at least we don't have to live with him. Poor Terese.
No 22
Meanwhile, Paul is ranting to Terese about the situation.
PAUL: It's idiotic, is what it is. I mean, they've completely jumped the gun by rushing into this. I cannot believe that my own son would do something so stupid!
Jane has let herself in through the front door and joined them, and Paul appeals to her for support for his stance. But Jane maintains her word to Nicolette, perhaps despite her better instincts, and says she doesn't agree with Paul.
PAUL: You're still telling me that you think this is a good idea?
JANE: I will support Nicolette and the boys in whatever decision they make.
PAUL (scoffs): Alright. Well, let's just hope they've stuffed this whole thing up.
No 32
David is still ranting about Paul knowing about the baby plans.
DAVID: If we had more time, then we would've been able to come up with a much better way to ease him into things.
NICOLETTE: I really am sorry. I don't know what else you want me to say.
AARON: Okay, guys, can we please just stop, and not let Paul's negativity affect us, alright? If he has a problem with it, then he can deal with it. Come on, we were excited about this last night, weren't we?
DAVID (grudging): Yeah.
AARON: So why don't we go back to feeling like that? Forget about Paul. At the end of the day, nothing's changed, right?
Aaron decides he'd better tell Chloe, too.
No 22
Paul tells Terese and Jane he's going to get in touch with Toadie about the situation, presumably to seek legal advice. But Jane doesn't think they should be the ones letting everyone know.
PAUL: There has to be some way that we can salvage this mess legally.
TERESE: Paul, Nicolette might not even be pregnant. There's no point fussing over it now. We've got no control over what happens either way.
PAUL: Well, I'll see about that, won't I?
No 32
Nicolette is still apologising to David and Aaron, but David doesn't want to hear it, and says he's going for a walk. He leaves.
NICOLETTE: I have never seen him like that.
AARON: It's alright - David's a planner. If he does things without making ten lists and thinking about it over and over, he just freaks out. Relax, okay? He wants this too.
NICOLETTE: I guess there's still a lot I need to learn about you guys.
No 22
Paul has summoned David over to talk further about the situation. David says he's hoping for an apology, but...
PAUL: I'm not gonna apologise for caring about you.
DAVID: (...) Right. I should be going, then.
PAUL: Oh, David, please, will you hear me out? Look, despite what you've done, all is not lost (...) You're a doctor. You of all people know that there are other options available. There's the morning-after pill -
DAVID: Stop trying to control this!
PAUL: This is not about me trying to control anything. This is about Nicolette.
DAVID: What, that we don't know her well enough? Because you've told me that.
PAUL: No, there's more to it than that. Pierce warned me about her.
DAVID: Oh, since when do you listen to him?
PAUL: You know, if she is half as untrustworthy as what he says, then you cannot want her to be the mother of your child! David, look, I know how much you and Aaron long to be fathers. Nobody wants that more than me, and you know I'll do anything to make it happen. But this? I mean, it's just so unlike you. You never do anything without careful consideration.
DAVID: Well, it's done now.
PAUL: Yeah, maybe so. But in the cold, hard light of day, is this really the way that you want it to happen?
David looks uncertain.
PAUL: I'm just worried for you. That's all I wanted to say. That's it.
Lassiter's Complex
Levi and Nathan are headed towards the pub for a coffee. Nathan's worried it's not a good idea given what Sheila thinks of him, but Levi says she'll have to get used to the idea of them being mates. True to form, Sheila is not pleased to see Nathan - and while he's inside ordering, she demands to know why Levi brought him here.
LEVI: I wanted to get to know him better.
SHEILA: Why?
LEVI: So I can move on, and maybe help him and Bea have a fresh start.
SHEILA: Oh, that is ridiculous! Here am I, working my butt off to get you and Bea together, and you're undermining me by -
LEVI: Gran! I don't want to have this argument again. Nathan is who Bea wants, okay? I've accepted that. You should, too.
Sheila looks annoyed as Levi walks indoors.
No 32
David is telling Aaron and Nicolette that Paul wanted him to admit their decision was a mistake.
NICOLETTE: Holy cow, you guys weren't kidding about this guy. He never gives up.
AARON: Hey, he could end up being your baby's grandad.
NICOLETTE: Yeah, well, he should just let you be happy, instead of trying to spoil things all the time.
AARON: Listen, can we please just forget about Paul's complaining? Let's just focus on whether the pregnancy worked.
NICOLETTE: Which we can test for in seven to twelve days.
Excited, Aaron goes to put it on the calendar. But David looks worried; Paul's words have clearly affected him.
Lassiter's Complex
Sheila rants and raves to Kyle about Levi 'deliberately blowing his chances with Bea'. Kyle admits he knew that Levi was contacting Nathan; he tried to stop him, he says, but doesn't want to be involved any further. Kyle tells Sheila she should back off, too. At this point, Nathan emerges from inside the pub, while Levi's in the bathroom.
SHEILA (to Nathan): I want to talk to you on your own. Levi has such a big heart, he doesn't realise that making friends with the thug that bashed him up was a shocker of an idea.
KYLE: Oh, ease up, Gran!
NATHAN: I'm sorry, Mrs Canning, but it's not your call. Levi invited me.
SHEILA (aggressive): And I'm telling you to stay away - from Bea, from Levi, from all of us!
NATHAN: If you don't want a bar of me, that's fine. But Levi asked me for a coffee, and that's what I'm going to do.
SHEILA: Oh, really?
Sheila tries to get past him, presumably to go indoors and speak to Levi; and Nathan moves aside, but trips on an electrical wire that's connected to the lights for the gig Sheila's been setting up. One of the lights topples over and smashes Nathan on the head. He tumbles to the ground and lies there, apparently unconscious. Sheila and Kyle look shocked.
