No.22
Paul is sitting rather smugly grinning to himself. Terese wants him to hurry as they've planned to go to an Italian place for dinner, Paul especially wanted to go there. She isn't impressed he's forgotten as he booked it the same day, he apologises. He would rather debrief on another occasion. He promises that they can discuss something he's thinking about at another time. Terese is curious but Paul tries to deter her by admiring her dress. Terese isn't fooled but Paul brushes her off and wants to head off.

No.32
Nicolette is enjoying some wine and offers some to Chloe and Aaron as they arrive home. It is Nicolette's birthday the next day but Nicolette prefers to celebrate over a week, not just the day! Chloe hands Nicolette her present in a bag and encourages her to open it. Aaron points out Nicolette might prefer to wait. Nicolette wants to open it now and loves the scarf that Chloe has given her. Nicolette hasn't really got any plans.

NICOLETTE: I've had so many birthdays without Mum I was kind of hoping this one would be different.

Nicolette admits that being back in touch has been lovely. Neither of them has contacted the other over the last few days.

Erinsborough Hospital
David is surprised by a visit from Jane. David admits it would have been great if Jane moved into No.32 and is sad it couldn't happen. Jane agrees and asks him to pass on Nicolette's present to her. Jane had already got it and doesn't want it to go to waste. David tentatively suggests that Jane personally hands over the present. Jane declines this idea and suggests finding another avenue if David would rather not pass it on. David agrees to hand over the present himself.

DAVID: It's just hard seeing you both so unhappy.

Jane awkwardly agrees and heads off.

The Waterhole
It's now the next morning and Pierce wants Hendrix to get there in plenty of time for his English exam. Hendrix is sure he won't be late and insists he is studying! Chloe joins them and encourages him to spend all the time needed studying over the next few weeks. Chloe offers $50 for every practice exam. Hendrix is definitely interested now! Hendrix wants to know why Pierce didn't give him the same initiative. Pierce just smiles as Hendrix heads off.

Pierce plans to avoid Paul today. Chloe thinks Pierce will prove himself over the Halloween event. Pierce is sure Paul is interested in his money and doesn't want to do business with him. Chloe knows Pierce wants to stick around.

Harold's Café
Dipi is on cloud nine after being called breath-taking, Jane doesn't remember that happening. Jane is amazed at Shane's romantic side! Dipi agrees that happens sometimes. Toadie and Shane arrive in suits, Jane admires how appealing they look. Dipi tells her that today is Shane's court appearance. Toadie reassures Shane that it's quite possible he will get community service. It's not the only outcome but Toadie wants Shane to relax. Dipi comes over, she is needed here as it's hard to find someone to cover during exams. Mackenzie plans to go there for support once her exam has finished. Dipi is convinced things will go ok as Toadie will be there to represent him! Shane still looks a bit unsure.

The Waterhole
Paul tells Pierce that he doesn't plan to use Lassiter's Wines with immediate effect. Pierce doesn't believe what he's hearing! Paul claims he's got to put the hotel first, Pierce reminds him about the wine deal they had, Paul isn't sticking to it anymore. Pierce reminds him he owns 40%. Paul tells him that things are different from yesterday. Paul explains he went back to his office yesterday evening.

PAUL: If you're going to have a liaison with somebody who's not your wife don't do it in a shared office.

Paul calls over Chloe who has just appeared. Paul starts talking business. Paul doesn't mention what he knows as Pierce looks rather uncomfortable!

PAUL: She'd be devastated if she found out... I want you to sell me your share of Lassiter's.
PIERCE: That's extortion.

Paul is loving this but Pierce is determined not to cave in. Paul points out Shane and Dipi's marriage will also be ruined. Pierce knows Paul is loving this!

PIERCE: You wouldn't know fair if you fell over it.

Paul offers to pay the whole investment price. Pierce won't accept this as the hotel is now worth more. Pierce isn't impressed at Paul's game.

PAUL: You are the one who has everything to lose here.
PIERCE: I need some time to think about it.

Pierce will think about it over a couple of days and gets Paul to agree to keep quiet for the time being.

Terese arrives as Pierce leaves. She's worried they were still arguing, Paul claims they were talking business! Terese wants to know the truth but Paul isn't budging.

TERESE: The last thing the hotel needs is you and Pierce having a chest beating competition again.

Paul denies this and heads off to order a coffee.

No.32
Aaron is trying to put up the birthday banner and David has sorted out most of the food. They put on their hats and wish Nicolette a happy birthday as she arrives home. Nicolette is touched and secretly had wished they'd do this! Nicolette points out that David as a doctor is recommending cake for breakfast.

DAVID: Doctors are human who like cake too.

They have given Nicolette her favourite sweets as a present and promise not to raid them. David passes over Jane's present and explains what happened. It's a puzzle which Nicolette realises that Jane bought in Daylesford. David tentatively suggests that Nicolette offers an olive branch to Jane.

Lassiter's Office
Chloe updates Terese that she has been spending time with Pierce and Hendrix earlier today. Things seemed to be returning to how they used to be, Terese is pleased. Terese asks if they mentioned Paul, Chloe doesn't particularly remember a mention. Terese thinks they're going to go into battle again, Chloe isn't surprised. Terese thinks it will be more than just the usual, Chloe doesn't think they can really act on this. Terese wants Chloe to tell her if she gets an idea of what's going on, Chloe agrees.

Harold's Café
Paul tells Dipi he's pleased Yashvi and Ned are sorting things out.

PAUL: She's very committed to the relationship. Must have got that from you hey?

Dipi is bemused by this, Paul claims he's talking about her relationship with Shane. Dipi is awkwardly trying to carry on with her job but Paul won't leave this alone. He thinks it's great they've stayed together so long. Paul heads off after placing his order and passes on to Shane that he's thinking of him on this day.

Pierce comes over and wants to know what they were chatting about. Dipi is still bemused as she tells him about the chat. Pierce doesn't tell her about his chat with Paul and puts it down to arguing with Terese.

Erinsborough High
Nicolette arrives to see Jane with a cupcake. It's a bit awkward as Jane wishes Nicolette a happy birthday. Nicolette recalls that the time in Daylesford went well. Nicolette wishes for them to talk, Jane isn't ready to do this.

JANE: We've already said everything that needs to be said.

Jane doesn't think they can sort anything out by talking. Nicolette heads off.

Lassiter's Office
Paul tells Chloe that the Lassiter's Wine won't be on the menu anymore. Chloe realises this is the cause of all this. Paul doesn't think they had a bust up and Pierce agreed with his way of thinking. Chloe is baffled as the wine was selling. Chloe points out that Pierce was going to add another wine, Paul confirms neither wine will be on the menu. Chloe can't get her head around this.

Aaron arrives and wants to head off with Chloe, Paul agrees to wrap up the meeting. Aaron is feeling bad about pushing Jane and Nicolette together after it didn't go well.

CHLOE: I can't believe that Jane would reject her on her birthday.
PAUL: You don't realise how devastated Jane was when Mrs Mangel died.

Jane needed to take a breather and has felt guilty about Nell dying while she took the breather. She didn't get closure by saying goodbye to Nell or explain why she took the breather. Pierce texts Chloe wanting to talk, Aaron agrees to have coffee after that.

Lassiter's Hotel
As Chloe arrives Hendrix seems to have survived the English exam. He's printed out practice papers to help study for his exams. Hendrix promises to do them himself as there is money involved! Pierce suggests that Hendrix heads off as he needs to chat to Chloe.

Chloe wants to know why Pierce is taking Lassiter's Wine off the menu.

PIERCE: I'm tired of dealing with Paul and just fed up of his games.

Pierce tells her he is contemplating selling his share which stuns Chloe. Whatever has happened she doesn't want him to surrender. She refuses to consider it.

Harold's Café
Shane, Toadie and Mackenzie return. Shane has been given 20 hours community service which he thinks is good considering what could have happened. Mackenzie is quietly sure that she did well in the English exam. Dipi wants to know how Shane will fit in his community service with everything else going on. Shane thinks it will be ok as he can do it over a three month period. Dipi thanks Toadie for defending Shane.

TOADIE: Don't thank me till you get my bill.

Toadie tells Shane in an inside that he won't charge Shane. Shane appreciates Mackenzie's support. She was there also to see how courts pan out. They discuss the court aspects.

No.32
David is worried about Nicolette who's watching Love Capsule reruns. Nicolette insists she's doing ok. Chloe arrives with treats. Chloe tells Nicolette that they will moan about Jane then work out how to sort everything out. Nicolette isn't so sure that this is viable. Chloe points out that there has always been a way back when she has annoyed her family. David says how polite Jane is. They laugh about this then get started on the treats. Chloe has already thought of a plan, Paul's words helped start the plan off.

No.28
Jane comes home and is stunned to see the portrait of Nell where the portrait of the Kennedy children usually is. Nicolette appears and tells her that Chloe got a key from Hendrix. Jane wants to know what is going on. Paul let Nicolette borrow the painting, Jane wants to know the reason behind this. Nicolette realises that she got a chance to be honest with Nell but Jane didn't get that chance.

JANE: It has always haunted me that I was cursing her at the very moment she died.
NICOLETTE: Because you loved her.
JANE: What if she never knew that?
NICOLETTE: Now's your chance to tell her.

Lassiter's Office
Pierce tells Paul that there is no way Chloe won't be suspicious if he sells his hotel share. Paul tells him he needs to come up with a way to do this.

PAUL: I'm sure you've had plenty of practice at lying lately.

Pierce and Paul aren't joking and are serious. Paul points out that after not being on board with having Pierce as a partner now he's got the chance to buy Pierce out. Pierce is sure that Paul has had many affairs before now. Paul points out he's had to face the consequences. Pierce reminds him that if he hadn't bought the share that Paul wouldn't own the hotel now. Paul built the hotel up and that's why Pierce wanted to be part of it.

PIERCE: This hotel is a success despite you and your shady deals and your dodgy decisions.
PAUL: Says the man who tried to buy his wife and now cheating on her.
PIERCE: (Angrily) You haven't come at anything straight in your life!
PAUL: You're an overdressed fraudster... who thinks he's Rockefeller.

Chloe arrives and wants to know what's happening.

PAUL: Are you going to tell her or should I?
