- Toadie getting angry at Shane for leaving rehab too early
- David and Aaron talking about the possibility of surrogacy one day
- Alex telling Hendrix that Nicolette has the hots for Chloe
- Chloe looking distraught after losing the baby
- Pierce lashing out and blaming Nicolette for Chloe's miscarriage
The Waterhole
Pierce says that Nicolette is arrogant and does whatever she wants, like encouraging Chloe to go for a walk when he thought she should have been resting. Chloe jumps in and says it was her own idea to go for a walk and that Nic isn't to blame, while Hendrix tells his dad to come outside and cool off for a while. Once the boys have left, Chloe apologises to Fay and Nicolette for the outburst, but Nicolette knows Pierce has been keen to find any opportunity to make her a scapegoat. Chloe's sure that once Pierce has calmed down he'll realise he's said the wrong thing.
Number 32 Backyard
Aaron feels like he wants to see Chloe and Fay to give them a hug, but David says they should give everyone some space for now. Aaron suggests they take dinner over to #24 later and David adds that they'll put together a care package for them tomorrow as well. They look at the giant stuffed toy bear staring at them from the back room and say that they should probably hide it somewhere. The boys then discuss their surrogacy chat from earlier and come to the decision to keep the news to themselves for a while out of respect for Chloe's loss.
Harold's Café
Dipi is explaining what happened at the baby shower to Shane and Toadie. And while Toadie is receptive and sympathetic towards Dipi, Shane is almost mute in his responses, even when he can see that his wife feels guilty for suggesting that the mothers share their stories, which led to Chloe's tearful confession. Toadie keeps throwing odd looks towards Shane, silently prompting him to contribute to the conversation, but all Shane can manage for Dipi is "don't beat yourself up". Growing frustrated with Shane's lack of response, Dipi heads back to work. Toadie looks supremely annoyed too.
Number 24
Nicolette brings in a tub filled with baby shower gifts, which rattles Chloe for a moment before she lets Nic know that Fay's having a rest. Chloe then says that she should have never gone through with the shower, it just made everything worse. But Nicolette reminds her that she's been through a really traumatic experience and should give herself a break.
CHLOE: The worst thing is, it wasn't all for mum. It was for me too so I didn't have to face what I said about Pierce and the baby.
NICOLETTE: None of that is important now.
CHLOE: I was doubting having a family. I said terrible things.
NICOLETTE: You were just trying to work your way through it.
CHLOE: I was being selfish instead of being grateful. It's like the universe heard and took the baby away.
NICOLETTE: As a medical professional I can assure you that is not how it works. Many pregnancies end like this, more than people realise but we just don't talk about it. But the most important thing you can do is give yourself time and space to heal.
Nicolette wants Chloe to promise her she'll take her advice and stop blaming herself. Chloe gives her a small smile and a nod.
Lassiters Car Park
Kyle is seeing Ned and Yashvi off before their trip. He and Roxy aren't joining them until tomorrow because Roxy had to work today. Yashvi sees Levi and excuses herself to have a chat with him. He teases her about doing a runner right when he's left with nothing to do. Yashvi asks if he's heard any word on whether or not he gets his job back, but Levi says he's in limbo until he gets his medical results. While they're off chatting, Ned admits to Kyle that he's decided to come clean to Yashvi about the extra Fandangle photos and videos. Kyle's pleased until he realises it might put a sour note on their getaway, but Ned figures it will give him and Yashvi a chance to work through everything before they have to come back to the real world. Besides, now that Shane is doing a lot better Ned doesn't have an excuse to keep putting things off. Kyle wishes his mate luck before Yashvi returns.
Harold's Café
Hendrix doesn't think his dad should have gone in so hard on Nicolette. He understands Pierce is upset but he knows full well the miscarriage wasn't her fault. Pierce says that Hendrix is right, but he can't help the way Nicolette gets under his skin. Dipi walks over and asks how Pierce is holding up, as well as Chloe and Fay. She then apologises for her part in encouraging everyone to share their motherhood memories, but Pierce knows her heart was in the right place. Dipi says she's here for them if there's anything they need. Once they're alone again, Pierce admits to Hendrix that he shouldn't let Nicolette bother him so much.
HENDRIX: Why do you?
PIERCE: Well she pushes my buttons. She's always defying me when it comes to Chloe.
HENDRIX: You're sounding a bit caveman there, dad.
PIERCE: I'm not trying to be, it's just I love Chloe and I worry about her.
HENDRIX: She never mentioned Nicolette being out on the walk with her?
PIERCE: No, she didn't.
HENDRIX: I'm sure you can trust Chloe. Nicolette on the other hand...
PIERCE: What do you mean?
HENDRIX: Well you were wrong to blame her, but it also doesn't mean that she's an angel either.
PIERCE: Has she done something I don't know about? What is it?
HENDRIX: It might not be anything but I met this girl that she dated, Alex. She reckons that they didn't work out because Nicolette had a thing for Chloe. I'm pretty sure Jane sussed it out too.
PIERCE: So this has been going on the whole time? I could never understand why she kept coming between Chloe and I, now I know.
Ned and Yashvi's Car
While Ned's driving he tells Yashvi he brought some snacks along if she wants them. Yashvi smiles and says he's really gunning for the boyfriend of the year award. She's happy they're getting some time away together to relax, at least until Kyle and Roxy arrive.
NED: Are you worried about hanging out with Rox?
YASHVI: No, it's fine. We just don't click.
NED: Maybe this will be a chance to understand her better.
YASHVI: I'm just not going to think about it. As far as I'm concerned this trip's about you and me. Hair down, feet up, nothing to worry about.
The grimace on Ned's face says otherwise.
Harold's Café
Hendrix is sitting alone, mulling things over his milkshake, when Dipi brings out a cupcake for him. She knows what's happening in his family must be rough on him too and says that it's okay for him to feel sad. It's true that the focus should be on Chloe, Pierce and even Fay, but Dipi knows Hendrix is grieving too. Hendrix says that he just wants to help but he always says or does the wrong thing. Dipi thinks Hendrix is doing his best and knows that Pierce and Chloe don't expect him to solve all their problems. Sighing, Hendrix says he'd settle for just not making things worse. Off Dipi's confusion, Hendrix admits that he said something to Pierce before that might have caused even more trouble.
Number 30
Toadie is sorting through the washing and lamenting to Shane about all the odd socks he's finding. He tries to joke around with his brother, but Shane's still pretty sullen.
TOADIE: You could weigh in. Like before when Dipi was upset... You were pretty quiet.
SHANE: She's still so angry with me. Not exactly hanging out for my company.
TOADIE: Right now Dipi's upset and she needs a rock, and I think that person should be you.
SHANE: I don't think I'm cut out to be anyone's rock at the moment.
TOADIE: You've been married to her for twenty years. If there's anyone on this planet that knows how to support Dipi when she's down, it is you.
Shane doesn't look too convinced by Toadie's words.
The Waterhole
Jane can see that Nicolette has been a good support for Chloe and now understands why she decided to stick by her side today. Their chat is interrupted by Pierce, who has something urgent to ask Nicolette.
PIERCE: Do you have feelings for my wife?
NICOLETTE: (startled) Where is that coming from?
PIERCE: Please don't act dumb. And you had your suspicions too.
JANE: ... I don't know that this is the right place for this discussion.
PIERCE: So it's true then. At least have the decency to give me a straight answer! Do you have feelings for my wife?
NICOLETTE: Fine. Yes, I do.
PIERCE: Unbelievable! So this is why you're always disagreeing with me and undermining me in front of Chloe.
NICOLETTE: No, when I see you're handling things badly I tell you you're wrong. But it's never been to make some play at Chloe.
PIERCE: And I'm expected to believe that?
NICOLETTE: I accepted a long time ago that she didn't see me that way. And besides, I would never let it affect my work.
PIERCE: And you're happy to just lie to us this whole time?
NICOLETTE: I wasn't lying exactly.
PIERCE: I went too far earlier, but what I said still stands. You are no longer Fay's carer. And you can forget about staying with us until we find a replacement; you're out of the house - now.
Jane tries to help, suggesting they all calm down first before any rash decisions are made, but Nicolette say it's okay. She'll pack her bags and leave. "Works for me," Pierce retorts.
Holiday Retreat
Ned and Yashvi are enjoying a spa on the deck of a beautiful holiday house overlooking some lush greenery and hills. Yashvi can see that Ned's more subdued than usual and wonders if he's worried about spending too much on their getaway, but her assures her he's got it covered. He starts to say he has something to tell her, but his phone dings with a message. While Yashvi takes some photos of the scenery, Ned checks the text he just received from an unsaved number and is chilled by its contents:
Hey, it's Scavenger_King35. Treating yo'self to a sweet pad?
Ned looks around in fear, wondering if they're being watched.
Number 24
Nicolette and Pierce arrive home and Chloe can immediately sense an even frostier tension between them. Pierce informs her that Nicolette's moving out today, which surprises both Fay and Chloe.
CHLOE: I thought you apologised for what you said?
NICOLETTE: It's not about that. It's because I have feelings for you and I've been hiding it.
CHLOE: ... When did you find this out?
PIERCE: Only today - I know it's a shock.
Nicolette says she'll be out of their hair soon, but Fay is very confused and doesn't understand where Nicolette's going. Nicolette sits by her side and sadly explains that she's got another job so she'll be moving out. Pierce heads outside to get some of Nicolette's belongings off the line while Chloe joins Fay and Nicolette in the lounge room. Fay says that Nicolette can't leave, she needs her, but Nicolette says she'll find Fay the best replacement. Chloe reassures Fay that everything will be okay, and then follows Nic into the kitchen for a more private chat.
NICOLETTE: I never meant to put you in this position.
CHLOE: You didn't do anything wrong.
NICOLETTE: Except I totally did. And on top of everything else, this is the last thing you need right now. I'm so sorry.
Number 30
Shane finds Dipi looking upset in the lounge room and asks if she's okay. Dipi tries to say everything's fine, but Shane encourages her to keep comfortable on the couch. He brings her a glass of red wine he'd been letting air. Dipi takes a sip, surprised that it tastes exactly like the Shiraz from Red Hill. Shane says it's the same one - he knows how much she loves it. He then offers her the support she needed earlier by saying that she doesn't have to pretend to be okay around him. He knows how shaken up she is over what happened with Chloe. Shane then shows her the sketch of the jewellery box he's been working on for her that he's hoping to make soon. It turns out he's trying to replicate the pattern of Dipi's grandmother's jewellery box that she loved. Dipi is touched by the sentiment.
Number 24
Chloe chats with Aaron, telling him she's grateful to her brother and David for letting Nicolette stay with them. Aaron says they're happy to, especially since she'll still be close to Fay this way. He's also glad they can do something to make Chloe feel a bit better. Aaron observes the sadness etched deep on his sister's face and says how sorry he is about the baby. Nicolette walks out with her minimal luggage and thanks Aaron for taking her in. He gets up to wheel her bags out so Nicolette can say goodbye to Chloe. Nic admits it was probably time for her to move on now that Pierce knows about her feelings.
CHLOE: He assumed it was news for me too.
NICOLETTE: I figured it was best not to enlighten him otherwise. If I were you I'd keep it that way.
CHLOE: I suppose it is better not to go there right now.
NICOLETTE: Just don't forget, even though we're not going to be living under the same roof, I'm still there for you. For anything, any time.
Chloe musters up a smile before Nic walks out, but it doesn't stay on her face long.
Holiday Retreat
Ned and Yashvi are in their bathrobes standing out on the balcony. Yashvi tells Ned how great the day was before heading inside to jump in the shower. When she's gone, Ned looks at the text message from his Fandangle fan again, clueless as to what he should do about it.
Lassiters Complex/Holiday Retreat
David and Aaron walk out of the pub with their takeaway, talking about the Nicolette situation. Kyle and Levi bump into them and Levi comments on how much food they're hauling, but Aaron says they've got a new housemate to feed: Nicolette. Kyle thinks it's because Pierce and Chloe need space after what they've been through with the baby, which David and Aaron go along with. Kyle says he's been through it himself and tells them to give Pierce and Chloe his love. Aaron and David head off just as Kyle's phone starts to ring. He sees that it's Ned and tells Levi he needs to take the call.
Kyle thinks Ned is ringing because he confessed everything to Yashvi, she took it badly, and now Ned needs a ride home. But Ned replies that it's something worse - he got a text from Scavenger King. Kyle's alarmed to learn that SK knows where Ned is and doesn't understand why he isn't completely freaking out right now.
KYLE: How did he even get your mobile number?
NED: Well my Fandangle name's NDW. Could have worked out my full name from that, and from there it's not that hard to get my number. I advertise it to get commissions. Obviously didn't believe my story about being a backpacker.
KYLE: That's a bit of a reach, mate, but even if all of that's true how does he know where you are right now?
NED: I don't know. I mean, he's just an overenthusiastic fan, right? Intense but harmless.
KYLE: Yeah, you hope.
Ned starts to say that he's going to text SK back, but SK sends him another couple of messages right when he's talking which are even more menacing. Ned reads it out loud to Kyle.
Time for a meet and greet with your No.1 fan. Unless you want me to expose your secrets, meet me here at sunrise.
Ned tells Kyle there's a pinned map attached. Kyle is extremely worried and says that Ned can't go and meet SK, but Ned doesn't seem to be listening to his advice.
Number 24
Hendrix asks Pierce if he spoke to Nicolette and finds out his dad asked her to leave. Hendrix wonders if he did the wrong thing by speaking up, but Pierce says that Nicolette admitted it as soon as he confronted her. Hendrix is appalled that Nic covered up her feelings for weeks and calls her a con artist. He asks if Chloe knows and Pierce says that she didn't really say much but he thinks she was shocked.
HENDRIX: She really had no idea?
PIERCE: That's Chloe for you, nice to everyone and then they take advantage.
HENDRIX: I figure that's what happened.
Speaking of Chloe, she appears in the kitchen after smelling the food. Hendrix takes his dinner to his room to give the couple some space. Pierce tells Chloe that he's genuinely sorry for losing his head before, but Chloe says they could probably both cut each other some slack, "it's been an awful day, partly because of the party which I insisted on."
PIERCE: What I said to Nicolette was...
CHLOE: Wasn't good, but it's done. Let's just focus on each other for a while. Let ourselves be sad together.
PIERCE: I love you so much.
CHLOE: I love you too.
Holiday Retreat
Ned's up bright and early the next morning after deciding to give into SK's demands to meet. He walks alongside the caretaker's cottage, but his heart leaps into his throat when he turns the corner and finds none other than Scarlett Brady smirking back at him.
SCARLETT: Hello stranger! Fancy seeing you here.
Ned takes in shaky breaths as ominous music escalates and the screen cuts to black.
