- Yashvi and Levi chase drug dealer River through the abandoned building
- Later, River contacts Yashvi, asking to meet her there again, but alone
- Dax turns up at No 26, seemingly to intimidate Levi - saying he has eyes and ears everywhere
- When Yashvi arrives back at the building, she finds River severely beaten, and calls an ambulance
Outside the abandoned building
Yashvi watches as paramedic Patricia assesses River's injuries; he's conscious and able to recall his own name, which is a start! Patricia tells River he may have a broken rib, so to stay still. He nods, but is clearly in a lot of pain. Yashvi asks River who did this to him, but he doesn't or can't answer. Patricia lifts his shirt, and discovers a taser wound on his torso.
Dax is still hanging out with Levi and Sheila. Dax continues to play at being affable for Sheila's benefit, while continuing to make vaguely unsettling remarks towards Levi, apparently in an attempt to psych him out. Dax recounts a tale of another police colleague who 'got mixed up in something he shouldn't have', adding that it 'didn't end too well for him'. Levi looks nervous.
Keen to get rid of Dax, Levi tells Sheila that they're supposed to meet Kyle at The 82 to test out his new food menu. But it's clearly an excuse, and at that moment, Kyle turns up and knows nothing about it! Dax gets a call on his mobile, and goes into the kitchen to take it.
KYLE: What's your boss doing here? Are you in trouble or something?
LEVI: Don't worry about it.
Dax returns to the living room, and tells them all that River has been assaulted and is on his way to hospital. He's heading there now, and asks Levi to accompany him. Dax looks shifty as Levi agrees.
Nicolette is reading a book ('Yellow', by Megan Jacobson) on the couch when Pierce and Chloe come in from work. Pierce tells Nicolette that they're heading to the hospital soon to get the results from the chorionic villus sampling (CVS) test, which indicates whether the baby is likely to have inherited Huntington's disease.
CHLOE: Can we please talk about something else?
PIERCE: Whatever the tests say, we'll be okay. You never know - it might be good news.
CHLOE: I still feel like I need to brace for the worst. I don't know why.
PIERCE: Well, brace away, if that's what you need to do.
CHLOE: I love you.
Nicolette looks uncomfortable, and excuses herself, saying she has errands to run - but wishes them luck with the appointment before she leaves. Pierce goes to reply to some emails, while Chloe looks nervous.
The ambulance has arrived with River in it, and Yashvi convenes with Dax and Levi. She explains there's no damage from the taser hit, but that River has mild concussion and broken ribs.
DAX: So you called this in? (...) That's quite the feat when you're supposed to be on desk duty.
Dax is keen to speak to River to get an ID on the attacker, but Yashvi says he needs treatment first. However, Dax ignores her and talks to River as he's being stretchered inside.
DAX: River, do you know who did this to you?
Patricia the paramedic tries to tell them it's not the time, and Levi concurs given how much pain River's visibly in. But Dax persists.
DAX: Do you know who attacked you?
LEVI: We'll protect you, mate.
River points to Yashvi.
RIVER: She did this to me. It was her.
Jane is meeting Nicolette for a coffee, and notices she's looking for a new job.
NICOLETTE: I figured that it's the smart thing to do, now that the fun of torturing myself has worn off.
Jane tells Nicolette it's good to see her being proactive (as she pointedly sanitises her hands!)
JANE: I could speak to Clive again, and ask about work at the hospital? Sorry, sorry - old habits!
NICOLETTE: No, that would be great, actually. Thanks, Mum (...) I've got to find somewhere to live, too.
JANE: Hmm. Well, no pressure, but the offer of us finding a place together is still on the table.
NICOLETTE: It's appreciated, Mum, but that could just be stretching the friendship at the moment.
JANE: Yes. Well, if you're sure... Could I ask a favour, though?
NICOLETTE (joking): No, you can't borrow my eyeliner.
JANE: ... Don't move too far. I've really enjoyed having you close.
Yashvi insists to Dax and Levi that River was unconscious when she got to the building; she didn't lay a finger on him. Levi points out that he didn't give much detail, and isn't exactly reliable.
DAX: We can't just dismiss his evidence. Walk me through how you found him.
YASHVI: He messaged me, asking me to meet. So I drove to the address that he sent.
DAX: Oh, and you didn't think to tell us what was going on?
YASHVI: ... Well, he asked me to meet alone. I didn't want to spook him.
Yashvi shows Dax and Levi the text messages, which she says prove River is lying.
DAX: That is not enough evidence.
YASHVI: Fine, I'll go in there myself and get him to admit it.
DAX: You can't go in there.
YASHVI: I'm not just gonna stand here and let him accuse me of something I didn't do.
DAX: So you say.
YASVHI: Are you kidding me?
DAX: You had motive. We have to investigate, it's procedure.
Levi advises Yashvi against saying anything more until she'd had a formal interview, but she challenges Dax and asks him what her 'so- called motive' is.
DAX: You're upset about your father. River is his dealer. If you lost control when you first saw him, I'd understand that.
YASHVI: I know what you're doing. You're trying to set me up so I'm off this case.
DAX: Be very careful what you say, Rebecchi. Don't make it worse for yourself.
Erinsborough Police Station / Rebecchi Law
Yashvi is at a desk, leaving a voicemail for Toadie. She asks him to call her, saying she's in real trouble. Dax and Levi come in.
DAX: Constable Rebecchi, you're officially suspended pending an investigation. I'm gonna need your badge, please.
YASHVI: I didn't do anything.
DAX: Are you refusing to comply with a direct order?
YASHVI: This is complete bull-
LEVI: Just give him your badge, Vee.
Yashvi hands over her badge and belt (which presumably contains her taser), and Dax leaves the room with them. Yashvi sarcastically thanks Levi for his help.
LEVI: One of us has to remain standing. What do you want me to do?
YASHVI: Help me prove that Dax did this. He knew we were getting close, so he bashed River.
LEVI: The timeline doesn't add up (...) He was at my place, having a cup of tea with Gran.
YASHVI: Okay, so he got someone else to do it, and got River to pin it on me.
Levi looks sceptical.
YASHVI: My taser, it's never been fired.
LEVI: So they check it, and you're in the clear.
YASHVI: Not if Dax fires it before it gets to the lab!
Levi says he's on it, and rushes out to retrieve the taser. Toadie rings Yashvi back from his office, demanding to know why Yashvi is chasing down Shane's drug dealer.
YASHVI: Because my boss is crooked.
TOADIE: That's a pretty heavy accusation to level at a cop.
Yashvi explains that Dax knows she's onto him, and that's why she's been suspended. Toadie advises her to make an official complaint, but she says she can't as Dax has friends everywhere, and she doesn't have any evidence big enough to bring him down yet. Toadie says he'll come and meet her, so they can concentrate on saving her job.
Jane is still with Nicolette, but finishing up a phone call to Clive. Jane reports to Nicolette that Clive will look into the vacancies at the hospital and get back to her. Nicolette is grateful. Jane is about to leave, when Chloe arrives and asks Nicolette if she wants to head to No 32 for another pampering session with the leftover hotel products. Nicolette is uncomfortable.
NICOLETTE: Umm, I'm not sure. I...
JANE: Weren't you getting your hair cut?
NICOLETTE: Yes, I was. I mean, I am.
CHLOE: Aww. Guess it'll be a solo binge sesh.
Chloe admits she's trying to distract herself from thinking about the test results she's getting later - there's been a crisis at Pierce's winery, so that's keeping him occupied. Chloe's about to leave them to it, when...
NICOLETTE: Wait, I'll.. I'll just move my appointment.
Jane looks concerned as Nicolette commits to spending yet more time with Chloe.
Erinsborough Police Station
Dax is on the phone, recommending that someone 'throw the book at' a perpetrator with a long history of traffic infringements. Levi takes the opportunity to pick up the box with Yashvi's taser in it, and take it out of the building - but Dax spots him, winds up his phone call, and stops him from leaving.
DAX: Where do you think you're going?
LEVI: Just taking it to forensics. Saves you the walk.
DAX: Yeah, if I wanted help, I'd ask for it.
LEVI: I just figured I'd get a head start on Rebecchi, see if we're wasting our time.
DAX: That's my decision, not yours.
Levi's phone alarm goes off; when Dax asks why, he claims it's nothing, and heads into the locker room. But it turns out the alarm is a reminder to take his epilepsy medication - and Dax follows him, catching him in the act...
Chloe and Nicolette are sitting by the pool, luxuriating with more beauty treatments and chocolates. She thanks Nicolette for rescheduling her hair appointment.
CHLOE: I really needed this.
NICOLETTE: Do you want to talk about it?
CHLOE: Well, I mean, the whole point of all this is to not think about it.
NICOLETTE: Is it working?
CHLOE: It was, until you brought it up!
Pierce calls, but Chloe ignores it, saying she'll call him back later. Chloe wonders aloud whether Nicolette was planning on a haircut in order to impress Alex, her one- night stand from a few weeks ago. Nicolette insists not.
NICOLETTE: My love life is non- existent.
CHLOE: You need to get back out there again! And if you need any help with online dating, I am a pro.
NICOLETTE: I'm fine, thanks.
CHLOE: You have no idea how much of a catch you are, do you?
NICOLETTE: That's me, bachelorette of the year (!)
CHLOE: You're not holding back because of... me, right?
NICOLETTE (panicked): What do you mean?
CHLOE: Well, if you're worried about bringing someone back to the house, don't be. We have no problem with it.
NICOLETTE: It's not that. I... just haven't had any luck with online dating.
CHLOE: That's because you didn't have me helping you.
Chloe grabs Nicolette's phone, and decides to write her an online dating profile! Nicolette objects, but Chloe promises she can have final approval! Pierce calls Chloe again, and she lets it ring - but this time, Pierce turns up in the flesh, confused as to why she's not answering!
PIERCE: What's going on?
Chloe looks guilty.
Erinsborough Police Station
Levi is working, when Dax appears with the pill bottle Levi had in his locker!
LEVI: ... Did you break into my locker?
DAX: Are you throwing accusations around? See, I thought you'd be smarter than Rebecchi. What are we talking here? Epilepsy?
LEVI: Can you keep your voice down?
DAX: It's funny, because I checked your medical record, and there's no mention of you having the condition. Pretty big deal hiding something like this, mate. Can't have a copper on the job having seizures - that makes you a liability.
LEVI: What do you want?
DAX: What makes you think I want anything?
LEVI: Because you'd have turned me in already if you didn't.
DAX: Yeah, well, maybe I still haven't made up my mind.
LEVI: I thought we were mates.
DAX: So did I. And then I realised that you and Rebecchi were working together (...) Here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna back off from River, and you're gonna leave Rebecchi to me. You really want to blow your whole career on a rookie? Because I'll be more than happy to make that happen.
LEVI: ... Okay. I'll back off. Rebecchi's on her own.
DAX: That wasn't hard, was it?
Dax gives Levi his pills back.
While they wait for their appointment, Chloe is admitting to Pierce about her using up the hotel's non- eco- friendly supplies on herself and Nicolette. Pierce doesn't get why she didn't tell him.
CHLOE: At first I was embarrassed. And then I realised I had this little bolthole where I could go and pretend everything else didn't exist.
PIERCE: Including me?
CHLOE: No, of course not. I just... I dunno, I was hibernating from reality. Trying to keep my mind off this moment. When we get the results. I'm sorry; I wasn't trying to shut you out.
PIERCE: No, look, it's okay. I know things have been hard lately.
CHLOE: Yeah, they have for you, too. There's a lot riding on this.
PIERCE: If things don't go our way, I'll be okay. Cos I know I'll still have you at the end of it.
CHLOE: Yeah, you will.
Karl emerges, and asks if they're ready to get their results. They follow him into an exam room...
Yashvi is telling Ned about what will possibly be her 'shortest police career in history' following her suspension. Ned says there must be something they can do about Dax, but Yashvi tells her it's not the time for Ned to go rogue, and makes him promise he won't take any action.
Levi turns up, and tells Yashvi that he tried to take Yashvi's taser to forensics himself - but that Dax caught him and stopped him. He doesn't mention anything about the epilepsy meds.
LEVI: I'm sorry. I tried.
YASHVI: It's not your fault.
Dax is concealed nearby, watching them. He looks worried.
Nicolette is at home when Pierce and Chloe comes in. She asked how the test results went.
CHLOE: The baby has low HD markers!
PIERCE: We're having a boy!
CHLOE: (...) They told us at the same time. I was so sure I was having a girl - not that I'm disappointed or anything. I grew up with brothers, so I know what I'm in for!
Nicolette is evidently struggling with her Feelings™, but says...
NICOLETTE: This is amazing! You must both be so relieved. I'm really happy for you.
Pierce goes to open some champagne (and sparkling pear juice for Chloe), while Chloe texts Hendrix, asking him to come home so they can deliver the news. Chloe turns around to offer Nicolette a glass of champagne, but she's already vanished...
Yashvi is chatting to Ned while he's painting; she admits she hasn't told Dipi about the suspension yet, as she doesn't want to stress her out when she already has so much on her plate. Ned again expresses his desire to have a 'little chat' with Dax, but Yashvi says it wouldn't change anything.
Yashvi takes a call from Toadie, and then explains to Ned what he said - the forensic results show that her taser was indeed used today. Toadie's now working on an appeal. Ned reminds Yashvi that she has to fight to keep her job; she worked hard to get her job, and can't let Dax take it away, or leave him free to do the same to anyone else.
YASHVI: You're right. I'm gonna beat Dax at his own game - find out where those drugs are coming from.
Jane is unpacking some shopping, and has bought an awful lot of canned tuna, which she explains to Karl was on a two- for- one offer at the supermarket; she's going to use it to make Mrs Mangel's famous tuna casserole, as a welcome- home meal for Bea when she gets back tomorrow. Karl is most interested to hear about the discounted tuna, and resolves to stock up himself.
KARL: Click and collect, here I come!
While Karl goes to place his order, Nicolette turns up at the door, and Jane welcomes her in.
NICOLETTE: I need to be anywhere but that house; it is a hotbed of punishment.
JANE: Darling, I really don't understand why you went with Chloe earlier. All that talk of moving and changing jobs...
NICOLETTE: She needed me. I thought I could just be there for her, and that would be enough.
JANE: Chloe has other friends, you know. It doesn't always have to be you. You need to start protecting yourself.
NICOLETTE: They're having the baby.
NICOLETTE: They got some positive test results, and now the baby is definitely happening. They're over the moon.
NICOLETTE: I'm happy for them. I am. But just seeing them together - it wrecks me. I can't do it anymore.
Levi is telling Sheila about Yashvi's suspension from the force. Sheila's sceptical that Yashvi would ever hurt anyone.
SHEILA: You don't think she did it, do you?
LEVI: It doesn't matter what I think. It matters what the investigation can prove.
SHEILA: Well, that's a bit cold.
LEVI: Well, part of being a cop is separating feelings from the job. And if Dax shows up at the house again, I'd appreciate if you didn't invite him inside.
SHEILA: Well, I thought you liked him.
LEVI: I just don't want work bleeding into my personal life.
They head off to a 'fancy new place at Eden Hills', whatever that means. Once they're gone, a gloved Dax lets himself into the house through the back door. Finding Levi's epilepsy medication in his bag, he empties out the pills, and replaces them with similar- looking tablets from another bottle. Then he puts Levi's bottle back in the bag, and hastily exits.
Nicolette comes in; Chloe tells her she missed the champagne.
NICOLETTE: I'm looking for a new job.
NICOLETTE: The daily commute - it's killing me (!)
CHLOE: What, all five metres of it?
NICOLETTE: Yeah, the congestion around the bathroom - dodging Hendrix's stinky towels.
CHLOE: So it's the live- in aspect?
NICOLETTE: No, it's just time to move on.
CHLOE: But you've only been with us a few weeks. Has something happened to upset you?
CHLOE: It's not Pierce, is it?
NICOLETTE: It doesn't matter why I'm leaving. I've made my decision.
CHLOE: But Mum loves you!
NICOLETTE: You'll find someone else. One nurse is the same as the next.
CHLOE: That is not true, and you know it. Most nurses are boring and mean, and smell of nail polish remover. Please just give us a chance to fix this? I don't want to lose you.
NICOLETTE: Stop being so nice.
CHLOE: Whatever the reason is, we can work through it together.
NICOLETTE: No, we can't - you don't understand.
CHLOE: Nic, please!
NICOLETTE: I'm in love with you!
