Levi smells roast beef cooking, Sheila's pleased his appetite has returned. He apologises but was tired. He is ok now though. She tentatively mentions what happened when he was younger but he brushes it off.
LEVI: I got the all clear years ago.
He promises he hasn't had any more seizures! They joke about his tiredness today. He is tired out after a busy week with lots going on. Sheila gets a text from Clive suggesting that Sheila is honest with Levi. She wants to be honest with Levi but Kyle arrives and jumps in first. He tells them that he and Roxy are together. Sheila doesn't look impressed!
Aaron realises what Emmett is reading is not his study notes. Emmett admits to struggling to concentrate during the holidays. Aaron encourages him to try to help him manage at school after the holidays. Emmett would rather do fun stuff like swimming. Aaron promises swimming after reading two more chapters. Emmett suggests they go swimming before the chapters.
Shaun arrives and is impressed by the studying. Aaron admits they're trying to juggle swimming and studying. Shaun suggests that Emmett joins the holiday programme at school the next day. It's possible to do science experiments. Emmett agrees.
Bea is looking up epileptic seizures on the internet. Shaun is telling Elly he thinks science experiments will help Emmett. Elly agrees and they banter about him being a geek. Elly is curious when she sees what Bea is looking up. Bea explains that a friend from TAFE has issues with epilepsy. Bea wants to be able to the friend.
David doesn't seem too impressed that swimming seemed to take priority over studying.
PAUL: Chlorine's a chemical so it sounds like practical learning to me.
David isn't amused! He updates Paul about Emmett going to the school for learning. Paul thinks Emmett should take time to have fun. David insists he and Aaron know best. Paul isn't so convinced but David reminds him Emmett might have to repeat Y8 otherwise. They aim to stick to their plan.
Sheila is crashing pots and pans around indoors. Levi thinks Kyle has a good thing going with Roxy. Sheila comes outside and announces she's off to Clive's for the night. Kyle couldn't hold off telling Sheila as Roxy was determined to be upfront. Levi reassures Kyle he's doing the right thing. Kyle thinks Sheila will keep on having a go about it. Levi isn't convinced but Kyle is. He realises they can't hang out at No.26 Levi points out he's there so it's not all bad! He thinks Sheila will come round in time but Kyle isn't convinced!
It's now the next day. Shaun greets Emmett and David and has planned some experiments. David is enthusiastic and wishes to join them. Emmett isn't so keen, he and Shaun head inside.
Levi tells Bea he's fine and she admits he's looking better now. He appreciates her concern. She admits it wasn't easy to see him go through that yesterday. He tells her it's worse for someone seeing someone else go through it. Bea has looked into it and thinks he should be honest with Yashvi, he thinks it's his decision to make. Bea points out that she's wondering if he has a seizure whilst driving but he's certain he'll be fine as he's been fine for years. He's certain he knows best as he's had epilepsy since he was 9. Bea isn't convinced but he wants her to stop sticking her nose in.
David is cooing over Aster in her pram and banters with Elly about flattering her! Aaron is running late for work but hopes Emmett is ok. David doesn't think Emmett is so keen on going into school. Aaron isn't so keen on pressuring Emmett into doing this. Elly points out that she's helped Xanthe and Kirsha. She would be happy to help Emmett after all they've done for her. David tactfully tells her that Shaun is going to tutor Emmett but they appreciate the offer. They don't want to overload him with tutors, Elly understands but seems disappointed.
Shaun and Emmett are discussing the experiments. Emmett admits physical experiments are better than learning from using a textbook. Emmett has money for lunch so Shaun suggests he goes to Grease Monkeys to grab lunch. Shaun promises not to forget to meet him to let him back in. Emmett worries he'll forget but Shaun reassures him. Shaun promises to leave the door unlocked.
Bea is surprised that Elly hasn't been hired as Emmett's tutor already. Shaun was the first to offer. Bea is more worked up than Elly about this. She mentions her friend with epilepsy. The friend didn't react well to what she said even though she was making sense. Elly reminds Bea what happened about Bea's dyslexia. Bea wasn't so keen to take advice and lost her temper in front of Elly's students. Bea had felt like an idiot who couldn't be trusted to do anything. Elly gently points out Bea's- friend might be feeling the same way. Bea realises she owes her friend an apology.
Sheila updates Terese about Roxy and Kyle's relationship, Terese is pleased. Sheila wants Terese's help to split them up. Terese reminds Sheila she was going to not interfere. Terese can't understand why Sheila is so against them. Sheila just wants to do her best by Kyle as she hasn't always done her best for her family. Terese has a go at Sheila until Kyle arrives.
Kyle apologises and takes a reluctant Sheila for a chat. Sheila thinks Roxy isn't the one for him, she likes Roxy but doesn't think a relationship would work between them. She's convinced Kyle needs stability which Roxy can't give him. Kyle points out that Roxy was there when Gary died plus supported him when they returned to the Island. When he finds a girlfriend, he looks for other things than stability. He asks her to stay out of his business to help her heart.
SHEILA: If you cared about my heart you'd start thinking with your head instead of... that.
Louis makes a snarky comment about Emmett meeting up with all his friends. Emmett mentions knowing someone who works at the school and he can access all over the school. Louis is interested and offers to hang out with Emmett.
Shaun is grateful that Elly has brought him lunch. Fortunately he didn't use the vending machine as apparently it's stocked once a decade! Elly finds it strange being back though she offered to bring Shaun lunch.
ELLY: It reminds me of the time I had purpose.
Shaun points out she hasn't lost purpose, she has Aster now. Shaun thinks she does a great job. Shaun thinks Emmett is getting on well and learnt some of the theory as well. Shaun doesn't know what's best to do when they use books instead. Elly suggests he thinks outside of the box. Trauma can lead to developmental issues and struggling to engage plus not wanting to study. Shaun asks for her help which she is happy to give. They agree to do this tonight.
Paul arrives at David's table with a PS4 for Emmett. Hendrix recommended it. Paul's tried it out but found out that he is not great at PS4!
DAVID: There's a first time for everything.
Paul lists the various features. David appreciates it but thinks Emmett will obsess over it. The distraction won't help either when he's meant to be studying. Despite the holidays he needs to study to catch avoid repeating. Paul's convinced Emmett will burn out if he doesn't get a chance to take a break. David wants him and David to make these decisions, not Paul. Paul advises David not to pressure Emmett too much, Paul has experience of this!
Paul is telling Terese that Emmett needs a break during the holidays. Terese is looking at her phone but claims to be listening! She points out that he doesn't like being told how to parent. She tells him this situation is no different. They haven't asked for advice so he shouldn't force it on them. Terese thinks that Emmett will benefit from education. Terese doesn't think things are as bad as Paul is making out Terese thinks David and Aaron are doing the right thing. Paul is convinced video games aren't as bad as they seem.
TERESE: What research is there on parents sticking their nose in?
Terese thinks David and Aaron and doing a good job and they should let them get on with it.
Kyle has met up with Levi. Kyle doesn't think Sheila is in the right frame of mind and is different to before. Levi takes medication and Kyle questions it. Levi claims they're just vitamins. Kyle puts Sheila's behaviour down to losing Gary but thought things were improving. He's not so sure after what's happened over Roxy. He wonders if this wouldn't have happened if Sheila wasn't trying to cope over losing Gary. Kyle thinks there's more to it but he doesn't know what. He wants Levi and himself to watch over Sheila and work out what's going on.
Sheila takes a photo of a young Levi out of a tin and looks at it. She looks at a newspaper clipping. Bea arrives looking for Levi who is at work. Bea doesn't have a message for Levi and brushes it off as unimportant. Sheila looks at the clipping which says a 9yo was viciously bashed and rushed to hospital in Frankston. Sheila is quoted as thinking the thugs were cowards. Sheila gets upset.
David arrives, Shaun tells him Emmett has gone to get lunch. Shaun thinks that Emmett has got on well. Shaun offers for Emmett to stay longer but David thinks that Emmett needs a break. There is a thump from the classroom window blinds next to them and some raised voices. Someone goes out of the room as Shaun finds Emmett with a raised board rubber in his hand. The classroom is wrecked. Shaun wants the truth about what happened.
